meh, Acles has much more of a Havok look to him in his build and face then quicksilver, pietro is suppose to be very slender, and a long kinda pointed shape face... very cocky and slightly evil look to him... hes a wise ass and has a temper Acles might be cocky but its not in the same way pietro is

Yeah. I'm not to big a fan for her to be Ms. Marvel anyway. I just needed someone to use. :)

I didn't take too much time on it (30 minutes) I just wanted to see what I could come up with. I didn't like the body, and the skin was a lot darker than it used to be. Plus, she's slumping, so that annoyed me, but I just went along with it for the heck of it.

i would love to see one of phoenix rising from the lake with a firebird/fiery aura however u interpret it and whatever she would be wearing (in my mind she is nude but NOT pornographic with flames tastefully covering her most personal areas)..and the whirlpool below swirling...and the phoenix energy bursting forth from it...and phoenix reborn...maybe there are already some i didn't see tho--i started one but HATE it grrrrrr

I understand what you mean, the effect would have been bigger, but you know, don't think the "process" was so tiring, I mean, I posted the first one, Cyclops and Emma, that's what I wanted to do. Then I though adding Rogue and Gambit, two of my fave x-men, and one thing went to other thing, and finally I did all the team. But this wasn't my intention at the beggining, so...

Gambit and Emma need a lot of work; Nightcrawler and Kitty should have different faces/heads. If you were to mess around with the lighting, maybe deepen it a bit, and fix some other things, it could be a pretty nice manip!

i remember awhile ago when people saw the scene when Logon and Storm find Jean at Alkali lake a few people said they really liked Storm's blue 'field uniform" and that it is how the x-men's uniforms SHOULD have been.

so ive been playing around with that idea,
and i really didn't try hard at all on putting the heads on these bodies because i don't really care if it looks good, just wanted to see how somebody other then storm would look in one of these uniforms (so basically this is rough work for a future bigger manip)

Yeah, it would be nice to see Nightcrawler again, his character was enjoyable, but he was absent in the third, so it seems like just another knot the writers would have to try and untangle themselves from, therefor most of the movie would need to be explaination for something that's happened in the past films instead of a completely original storyline.

It takes time LaSheBeast and just keep practicing. Make sure your artwork is clean and neat. Even if it looks boring, it's better to create a basic artpiece rather than try to be overly ambitious and have it look a complete mess (ie. see also Angamb's work). I don't think I've ever seen Neto get nasty with anyone on here but I'm not on here night & day in here either.


By the way Neto, you've gotten alotta mileage out of your icon. Everytime I see Santa Magnus is makes me giggle.

I just looked through your art thread and you have some amazing stuff. I remember actually giving you some praise on some of that back when you posted it.

Now, i try to give constructive criticism whenever possible. But there are quite a few that just cut and paste or simply add text and call them manips. To those I just don't reply to at all, rather than being harsh.

Theres really no excuse for a bad manip. Yea, I know not everyone has Photoshop(I included) and so most of them use MS Paint. I think we all started from that at one point. But we improve over time. Unfortunately, some don't and they keep doing the same thing over and over again.

I've been drawing since before I can remember and as i got older I studied shadows, human forms, perspective etc. Then there are those that can't draw for **** and think just because they have photoshop, they can do anything.

I know this may sound mean but basically, you either have it or you don't.

Well said. I firmly believe that less is more, sometimes you can make the biggest impression with your artwork when you don't overstretch/sell. Most of my work isn't so complicated because I want the character to shine.

Very clean artwork can make the piece look very bold.

Then when you have problem balancing every area of the image you "burn" the problem spots so that the image does not degrade or oversaturate especially when you are going for such a basic look.

Sometimes creating simplistic work like this is harder than doing multibrushed collages because visually the artist has to sell the 'lone image. Keeping it clean and vibrant can make a powerful punch.

It's surprising the amount of artwork I see where those simple rules are never followed.

All my work is very slimplistic. Rarely do I ever do anything that's overly complicated or ambitious. I keep it simple.

The only thing that is extremely complicated is removing the background from Wolverine's Claws. Removing it so that it blends in with the background. Very complicated process. I think out of all the characters I've worked with his claws are the most menacing. Mostly time consuming but I've been doing it so long that now I'm able to get threw it quicker than before.

All my work is very slimplistic. Rarely do I ever do anything that's overly complicated or ambitious. I keep it simple.

The only thing that is extremely complicated is removing the background from Wolverine's Claws. Removing it so that it blends in with the background. Very complicated process. I think out of all the characters I've worked with his claws are the most menacing. Mostly time consuming but I've been doing it so long that now I'm able to get threw it quicker than before.
Those simple techniques are really used for website design. Not so much manips or wallpapers.

I found it to be easier to either cut his claws out separately or use a different pic for just his claws. But that all depends on the angle. I wish I can just digitally create the claws.

Wolverine's claws are extremely hard to work if you aren't familiar with them and the Photoshop tools. It's a process but as you can see above even in the hi-res Wallpaper it can be done. It's just a process of actions to get them clean and even when you have them at that point there is another process to "finish".

The tricks is you have to Zoom in and out the use a variety of eraser bushes to get the edges just right. Then finish off by using the dodge tool to bring out the claws and it blends the edges together. Like I said before it's a process and will take you some time to do it. Don't rush your work after a while you will get faster and faster.

Most people use "brush techniques" to cover up mistakes or short cuts. Sometimes white or bright backgrounds are the hardest to blend photos with.

Manips and wallpapers are created in Photoshop'esque software. These rules must be followed or else it will look very amatuerish or at worst MSPAINT worthy. Whenever you are working with photos the rules of contrast have to be followed carefully.

Now I'm not a Graphic Artist/Designer but I've been told this many times by GA's though.

I meant in terms for website layouts. They all pretty much have a simple look. Like what you did for L&M. But if that were to be say the movie poster then it'll be too plain.

Well i don't use PS so I don't really know what you guys do. But on my software I usually cut the claws out separately to make them brighter or sharper. And it's easier to cut with less of the background showing up.

The image quality between Logan&Marie vs. Scott&Storm is a little unbalanced. I know there has been a hi-res version of your Scott image on the forum somewhere and I'm not sure about the Ororo image because I've never seen it. I love the white hair do on her though, Halle's got the face for it.

I see you snagged the Logan image from my wallpaper. Cool. Marie's hairdo is a little odd but the picture quality is nice. Watch your contrast as well.
