What qualifies you as a fan? A considerable about of knowledge and love for the series and franchise. You have followed it and enjoyed MOST mof the movies.

That is what I am.

How can you tell if you're a geek?

-If you can name any of the Jedi Council besides Yoda and Mace Windu.

-If you know any other Jedi besides the above two and Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Qui-Gon Jinn.

If you still buy Star Wars toys and merchandise (other than the free stuff when you buy a coke at McDonald's or something) and you are over the age of 12 or 13. Maybe 14.

-If you will go to the movies dressed as a Jedi/Sith Lord/Stormtrooper/Clone Trooper/Darth Vader/any character of the Star Wars universe not covered in this sentence.

-If you still insist that that the movie TPM is a high quality movie.

-George Lucas is an artist who had the whole thing written since the beginning and you also still insist that Lucas never sold himself out to pander to the kiddies and teen demographics.

-If you can name any of hte animals on Hoth.

-If you can tell me what the expanded Universe says happened to the characters after the original trilogy.

If you do or could answer any of the above questions/statements you are a Star Wars geek.

That I am not, I'm a Spider-Man geek! ;) :p

Empire Strikes Back (was always at the edge of my seat)
Return of the Jedi (kind of boring, but great climax)
A New Hope (kinda boring with the plot development, but still great)
Revenge of the Sith (haven't seen it, but doubt it'll be better than the OT)
The Phantom Menace (It still had a Star Wars feel. Just exclude the Jake Llyod and Gungan scenes)
Attack of the Clones (the most forced love relationship ever and boring until the end, which sucks. Only good in giving the Fett-fans Jango, who sucks)

In the prequels:
Obi-Wan Kenobi - From Jedi Padawan to Jedi Knight to Jedi Master
His character was very well done. Because of his role, Obi-Wan Kenobi is not one of my top favorites because of the Episodes I through III.

Yoda
Lucas even said it. Yoda with the lightsaber kicking ass is what the fans wanted. They got a lil of it in Attack of the Clones but it was solidified in Revenge of the Sith with Yoda on Kassyk, fighting the Clonetroopers, shrugging the Emperor's Guards into the wall, and later against the Emperor.

Original Trilogy:
I always liked Luke. Like Obi-Wan in the prequels, Luke grows from the simple farm boy on Tatooine to a full fledged Jedi Knight at the end of Return of the Jedi.

Han Solo. Maybe because he reminds me of my best friend, or the fact that it's Harrison Ford. No one else could bring cocky, and cool like this character did.

Yoda Different from the prequels, Yoda's wisdom compensates from the lack of lightsaber winning and shows us there's more to the "Force" than just lightsaber skills.

Okay when I was at the movies, I saw mace, darth, fat leia, and a couple hans. This one little kid looked like harry potter, then went up to mace and said "Awww master windu, how are you tonight?" It was funny cause the guy was so tall he just walked away from the kid, and the kid started to cry LOL.

See I've always had a discussion between what is a geek, a nerd or a dork?

A nerd is someone who's smart, doesn't participate in sports or any type of athletics.

A geek is someone into sci fi, role playing games, he may or may not be smart (nerd).

A dork I someone who isn't smart, doesn't do sports or the interests but looks like and acts like a "nerd or geek".

That I am not, I'm a Spider-Man geek! ;) :p

I got 6...
but I still haven't really looked further into Star Wars than the 6 movies...I'll say nerd

Why is Revenge of the Sith creeping so high on your lists? It is in no way whatsoever as imanginitive, inventive, or as pure fun and entertaining as the orginal SW movie.

ROTJ had the Ewoks, but beyond those things (and they only really annoyed me with their comedic war tactics and their dancing at the end) it was a very good movie. Not nearly as powerful or emotional (and in this case, depressing) as ESB nor as pure fun and inventive as SW but damn good.

ROTS redeemed Lucas. It is good. But the pacing is a bit ackward and it is not as much "imaginitive" or powerful. The story and the acting (yes the acting was fairly good this time) sold it. As did the score and the themes, but the diologue was usually as poor as the other two prequels (save for Palpatine's lines) and as I said it dragged along.

With that said I loved ROTS and will see it again in theaters.

AOTC was pretty good, but Anakin was just written so petulant in that. If he was written more mature (kind of like how he was in ROTS) the movie would have been far better. TPM suffered from the first half being too dull, the diologue trite (like the other two prequels) and between Jake Lloyd's terrible acting and him being written like the happiest boy in the world and not a slave full of anger sank that movie (and then the climax salvaged it a little).

I can't judge the movies individually, just like Lord Of The Rings consists of 3 different movies it is still 1 gigantic story, same with Star Wars, although it consists of 6 different movies & skips around a bit it will now & forever be considered one gigantic story. Just like every other movie there will be parts that people don't like about it, but viewing it as a whole, one could say that Star Wars in general was the greatest movie ever made. To bad they can't edit all 6 together into one movie.

I think Hayden is quite talented, has a good screen presence, and when I see him on screen I can definitely see him as Darth Vader as he has a natural darkness to him imo. Not something that can be taught, he just has it.

Dark Vigilante
05-20-2005, 07:40 PM
In order:

Darth Vader- Darkest, most interesting and tragic villian that I can think of.

Luke Skywalker- A great heroic character, but not flat like most boring hero characters. Has tinges of humor, and even the dark side in ROTJ

Obi-Wan Kenobi- A kick ass, wise ass, yet noble and honorable Jedi Knight. There is nothing to not like about him. I thought Ewan Mcgregor's Obi-Wan through-out the prequels was great and his acting was fantastic.

Yoda- Deeply insightful and wise. Yet he can also woop ass.

Emperor/Chancellor/Sideou- A truly manipulative, bone-chilingly evil character whose plot to overthrow the Republic and the Jedi was incredible. Great villian.

I agree..theres nothing better then an illustrated poster, it makes the movie seem more...dignified if that makes sence.

Agreed

I miss the old style of the Hildebrandt poster and the ones that followed. I always liked illustrated one sheets more than photoshopped montages.I could not bee-LEEVE that they finally released the unadulterated original old school trilogy, with no CGI...and then used Photoshopped versions of the posters for the DVDS covers.
The whole point was "old school". What were they thinking? lol

^That's why I started printing out fan made covers.
