A Han Solo prequel would've kicked ass... I hope they touch on that in the T.V shows about Han's early days with the Falcon but I doubt it... a spinoff wouldn't work at this point unless it was a prequel
if it was a prequel, how would Ford be involved? It would have to be a new actor. I nominate Josh Holloway.

It is most likey false anyway. Anyway, I think Lucas kind of ruined Star Wars when he filmed Phantom Menace.......I think Ford thinks the same and has no interest in it.

Just throwing ideas out for a Han spinoff... I know how well all feel about recasts but there has gotto be someone who is a Ford look a like out there... the movie would center around Jaba, Boba, and heck even Lando... I would love to see how Han got the Falcon from Lando... it is an interesting concept and could make a very good episode if they decide to carry out the live action shows... but I would rather have a movie

It's already been done in The Hutt Gambit.

Guys, don't even bother discussing this, there is no question it's complete fabrication. The British tabloids are notorious for making up stories, especially about the entertainment industry.
If this story were true, you would be reading it everywhere, probably even see it on the TV news.

Well this is a movie forum... and I was referring to a prequel... I think there is still a market out there for STar Wars spinoffs... I mean they are doing Wolverine... bringing back our favorite Star Wars character on the big screen would bring money in... I think a Solo prequel would kick ass...

yeah it would.
But instead of using already existing characters, why not make a prequel that takes place years before any of the PT characters existed.
It would allow new characters to be created, a new cast and a completely original story.

I movie taking place before the prequel trilogy? Wouldn't work... What would it be... Episode Zero? I don't think anyone would be interested in characters they were never associated with... the prequels would have completely bombed if Anakin Obi Wan and Padme had no roles... I am not suggesting they should make SPinoffs for every Jedi... that is an overkill... but SPinoffs with Han Solo or Boba Fett... stuff like that could work...

Ever played KOTOR?
That worked very well.
It could explain the beginning of the republic, or the first sith war.
Or the Story of Darth Bane or Ulic Qel-Droma.
It could tell the story of the Daragons and the Great Hyperspace War.
It would allow for new ship designs that we have never seen before.
Very primitive starships and weapons.

I am not saying there isn't material out there... I just think those stories wouldn't make $... I think the public is tired of cheezy light saber fights... if they were introducing the Star Wars universe for the first time then it could work... but not many people are familiar with the history of the Siths and all that stuff... if Star Wars movies are ever made again... they have to be about established characters or no one would really have an interest... thats just my opinion but I think its an accurate assesment... I know for a fact people will empty their wallets for a Han Solo movie... Ford or no Ford... I know I owuld

If it says Star Wars, they'll see it or buy it.
KOTOR had characters that no one had heard of before, but it sold millions.
Why? Because it said Star Wars, and it was a good game.

recognize this?
It's from Episode III, in Palpatine's office.
It's a frieze of the Great Hyperspace War.
If it were made, It would be a mixture of LOTR and Star Wars.
They used swords, spears, shields, very few had a lightsaber.

Thats true... but movies are an entirely different animal... hard core gamers buy games... but movies goers won't just see Star Wars if it has no one they have ever heard of before... many people these day dismiss Star Wars fanatics... heck even general fans.... as nerds or geeks... I just don't think a movie centered around Darth Bane (or any Sith, Old Jedi Republic characters, etc)... a guy no one has heard of unless they read books on the Star Wars Universe (or played the games) is gonna see that movie...

Dude you are still misiing the point... thats because episode 4 was completely original... just like POTC... but another movie with a Star Wars tag has to have the characters that we all know by heart... something like a Darth Bane movie or an early Sith movie would not be nearly as successful

So people won't see it because it looks cool, because the trailers make you go "Wow...I gotta see that"?
You're saying the only reason people saw the sequels and prequels is because the films had already established characters.
Maybe the world is running out of ideas...

Lets leave the original trilogy out of these... why is one of the prequels... which most people agree sucked or were pretty mediocre in the top five at the Box office... top 10 or 20 World Wide... one reason and one reason only... it was the Darth Vader origin... anyone who saw the OT had to see the prequels no matter how bad they were... they wanted to see the origin of the greatest villain of all time... if the prequels were the early days of the Sith... or the origin of the Jedi Republic... the movies would've bombed... especially if Lucas directed... why? There is no story to tell there...

So if there is no story, how come there are Comics, books and games that take place in those times whose stories are better than the PT?

no...that's the reason we don't have thousands of films. Because the story can continue in the books.
We really don't need any more Star Wars right now, and I think Harrison realized that.
Lucas has said that the EU (Extended Universe/StarWars Books) isn't cannon. They're essentially all sanctioned 'what if' stories.

Still, Why not use that material? It's already there and it's waiting to be taken and translated into a new form.

Harrison Ford couldn't get away with playing Han Solo anymore...he made Han Solo one of the coolest heroes EVAR, i doubt he could have that same coolness at his elder age. seeing him as Indy again isn't as far of a stretch.
did anyone notice...first Rocky Balboa, then Live Free or Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop 4 is rumored...now Indy 4. i know Indiana Jones has been on the burner for a while but i thought that it was just funny that the wheels are actually setting in motion NOW after all the older action stars are reprising the roles that they're best known for.

Though I must say back in the hay day before the prequels and before Harisson became all old and wrinkly, a Han Solo spin-off would've kicked all sort've ass if done right.

Well, I think there is still some rich stories that could be told but as longer as Lucas insist to be the one telling those stories and directing the movies they are all doomed to be of the calibre of the prequels. So I would say, "HELL NO" to anymore movies. Thank G-d Spielberg is directing Indy 4.

I guess it's because of the Increasing Hype for the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Star Wars Saga this year is the reason .
