dammit! thats a bit of a delay...most stations might replay it late tonight.
but yes Blaze does have a shotgun and supposedly GR will use a demonic shotgun at least once (at least i hope its only once) in the film....now the question is was he in the GR costume and did the gun look something like the bike? or was he in just normal human leathers and the gun was your typical looking shotgun.

Just let you all know that GR was on ET ( June 17 3.15pm Melb Aust).
The segment went for approx 1 min. Eva spoke a few words,nothing we haven't heard before. Cage spoke a little, he was dressed as Blaze in black leather, chains around torso and a normal looking shotgun strapped to his back. Also got to see his flaming skull tat. The scene was filmed in a dusty western sound stage. Looked like he was in a fight scene.Oh yeah i did manage to tape it on VHS.

I was really dissapointed, it looks kind of Bad, and Cage said something like Ghost Rider has used chains since the beginning. That and he pointed at his "Ghost Ride"r Tattoo, which to me just looked like something out of an old Flash Tattoo Skull with Fire design, it wasn't specificly any Marvel Ghost Rider depiction.

Im just concerned. I used to collect the book when the 2nd volume came out in the early 90's, and stopped reading about when the Midnight Sons thing started to get old. I used to really be into the Punisher, then got more in Ghost Rider when it relaunched. I liked the classic Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch versions, Im not sure what Cage is doing, but Im concerned, and want to think Ghost Rider is more up this directors talents than Daredevil was.

i just watched it...it was a bit weird.
the set look cool....Cage was wearing the 90s GR jacket....had very small studs on the shoulders, a chain that was wrapped around twice around his chest w/ a ordinary shotgun on his back.
also cage didnt have anything on his head like the stunt man did (bright yellow mask w/ leds) ...no make up. looked like he was in character gritting his teeth and punching someone off screen. he was also shown holding what looked like a scroll which i assume is the document that Blackheart wants in the film.
so the shotgun doesnt look demonized...and Cage was just wearing the outfit. very confusing....dont know if it was just a run through or they just put that on for ET's sake. that way they dont have to show what the real shotgun looks like.
he had the gun for what i assume is the last scene in the movie...so im hoping thats the only place where it shows up.
also Cage said he had a hard time following the stories from the comics but the character looked facinating. hope thats not a translation for "Actually i never bothered to read the book....but the character looked cool." hmmmm

well it's true, anyone trying to follow some of the comics would be confused, especially if they don't know Johnny and Danny are two seperate characters. The shotgun was a real gun, you missed the part it says he's a bad*** biker? I had my CC(closed caption) on and it sounds like Johnny goes around with a shotgun :(

I saw Nic Cage's stunt-double wearing the same gear, at the AXA Plaza set one evening, and I thought that was cool. Seeing Nic dressed as Ghost Rider though, whew!
I'm rest assured now that it's going to look fantastic.

do you remember if the spikes on the stunt double's shoulders were as short as Cage's in those pics? i just find it interesting that Cage is wearing the outfit w/ a normal shotgun (which has been said its supposed to look like the bike) and the spikes look more like small studs. from earlier pics it looked like the spikes looked much larger than the ones Cage has.
i f i have to guess maybe GR is forced to change back to Blaze.....something weird happens that makes Blaze wear GR's outfit only its not "demonized" (shorter spikes, normal shotgun). maybe this is a trick on Blaze's/GR's part in order to get close to Blackheart. once that happens he changes back to GR and goes in for the kill.

BIGGUN, granted, i was about 20 feet away from the stuntmen at the time, but i do remember seeing spikes on his shoulders (and up to his neck).
From the images here of Nic, the spikes appear shorter then when i saw them.
Take this into account though; MSJ mentioned that GR's outfit burst into flames at the end of the film. So maybe your right in your assestment of the images (with GR having to revert back to Johnny, and therefore de-demonising his outfit).
I've a question for you though; in the image of Nic and Eva, who is the guy with his back to us?
I'm guessing it's either MSJ, or Wes.

First of all, thanks for the pics BG. They look great!! We appreciate the effort and time.

Second, the costume looks wonderful and I'm very happy they're going with those clothes as they are my favorite, being the 2nd series fan that I am.

As for why Blaze is wearing them and not Ghost Rider, the only thing I can think is that that Ghost Rider is going to be a completely different thing all together. Perhaps the design team used the Ghost Rider design from the 2nd series as Johnny's regular clothes but when he changes, so does what he's wearing. Perhaps the gun will transform, the spikes (and everything else) will become huge becoming something we couldn't even imagine.

There is also a possibility that Ghost Rider will look more like Vengeance than Ghost Rider. I never thought of that. I mean, he is a much scarier and demonic looking character.

and yeah im figuring that when Blaze changes whatever he wears/holds becomes demonic....much like Goyer's idea where in his 2001 script whatever Blaze wears it becomes exaggerated and "demonic" when he transforms.

That is most likely the case.
The shotgun does seem....rather.....prevalent.
Seeing Cage with the shotgun on the back reminded me of the National Treasure movie poster with him having a big map or something straped to his back. It must've gotten good to him.
But really, I guess I could understand Blaze wanting to be armed with all that is going on but personally I'm weary of the prospect of how much GR himself may be using it.

Probably the shotgun change like the bike... Grace becomes the hellcycle when JB transforms into GR, so if JB has a shotgun it transforms too, or he finds a way to make it transform ...maybe he feel he needs some more firepower in order to confront Meph and BH...

not too sure about the meaning of that, in relation to the story, but MSJ said GR will be 'full-on' by the end of the film. what this means for his bodily and skull features, we'll have to wait and see....

I like Mr Nick's job more, better proportioned, better angled and especially he used a white skull, just like in the comics. I hope it will be white in the movie also, because it makes better contrast with the black sockets, it gives the flame more light and visual impact, and recalls better the comic icon...

Yep, I hear you, my hype got sliced in half back when it was first revealed GR would have a shotgun. Which is why I haven't been visiting the boards near as often as I was. Though I'm trying to be more hopeful now, especially after reading BG's well thought out theory earlier in this thread that the gun may only be used once. i think the use of the shotgun is more of a personal thing. i've been reading GR comics for years, i have a tonne of them, and i'm none too fussed about the inclusion of a shotgun at all.
now, if the shotgun is on one of the movie posters (i'm assuming there'll be more than one), i may tend to think "this isn't right." i mean, it's like if in the movies, spider-man had organic webshooters. i mean, come on! :)

do you remember if the spikes on the stunt double's shoulders were as short as Cage's in those pics? i just find it interesting that Cage is wearing the outfit w/ a normal shotgun (which has been said its supposed to look like the bike) and the spikes look more like small studs. from earlier pics it looked like the spikes looked much larger than the ones Cage has.
i f i have to guess maybe GR is forced to change back to Blaze.....something weird happens that makes Blaze wear GR's outfit only its not "demonized" (shorter spikes, normal shotgun). maybe this is a trick on Blaze's/GR's part in order to get close to Blackheart. once that happens he changes back to GR and goes in for the kill.

hey there guys im kinda new to this board but do know a bucket load about comics! may i jus say, and this mite be summat you overlooked, but, ghost rider/spirits of vengance only wear what the current master, i.e jonny blaze,dan ketch or det. badalino was wearing at that particualr time, most of the time tho dan and jonny wear biker gear anyway!, maybe the transformation jus slightly alters the outfit, but when back as blaze the outfit is still kinda the same only with small spike and the shotgun looks normal!

You're right about Blaze, his jumpsuit stayed the same... but Dan was different. His clothes changed as he changed into Ghost Rider. There's no way Dan could run around wearing Ghost Rider's clothes and pretend it was normal.

good point my freind, jus reread hearts of darkness and it clearly shows his clothes melt off along with his skin and he changes, but could that have something to do with the nature of the ghost rider i.e. dan being the spirit of noble kale and blaze being a spirit of zarathos? how are they doing it in the film?? ivew not herd too much bout how there using ghost riders past! but it may certanily explain it! glad i could help!

I think it is more of some sorto of "imprinting". The very first time Dan changed in the scrapyard he was wearing some odd full biker suit with protections on shoulders etc..
I think in case of GR2 the first time the host change GR "rearrange" his appearance using the memory of the host, with some kind of respect of the actual time.
A little like Autorobots did when reactivated on earth.
Like, GR in the change adjust the appearance/bike with the images/thoughts of the host relative to "riders"; soin the old west it could become a horse rider, in the case of Danny's true mother he becomes a '70/'80 look biker (yet pretty cool:D ), and in case of Danny he becomes a '90 style biker with Akira like bike :)
The time when Barb corpse became GR i don't think it is relevant...
In short i think there's this kind of imprinting only every generation/host first change..

In GR title´s last issues was shown the origin of the Spirit of Vengeance, by Ivan Velez Jr and Javier Saltares, and we saw at least one of the previous GRS in the lineage of the Spirits of Vengeance: a WWI version that fought Verminous Rex, a rat-like villain, in the sewers ( very cool ).
Even in early issues of Spirits of Vengeance, by Howard Mackie and Adam Kubert ( how i miss them... ), appears the 1st SOV´s, as knights in flaming horses and at the same time the forging of the Medallion of Power, the symbol of the SOVs.
Great tales, great times.

this would make sense as they had clips at the comic con and a new teaser poster...which normallyl are released the same time as the teaser.

just got through w/ watching Extra....man those type of entertainment shows suck!
but anyway they had a segment on Comic Con and guess what.....they showed a part of the trailer! and yes it looks like it was from a trailer...they had a very very brief shot of GR turning to look at the camera....blazing skull and all!
there was a really weird scene where Blaze is sitting on his bike looking like he is surrounded by fog and these odd looking tree things in the background and suddenly someone grabs him off the bike and into a body of water. we get a close up of the evil dude coming at the camera w/ a mouthful of sharp teeth.
had another scene of a truck ramming into the back of another truck and exploding and a cool scene of Blaze looking at his smoking hands (while in front of a mirror) turing to look at someone behind him w/ this shocked look on his face. obviously this is the right after the 1st scene of Blaze becoming GR and realizing what the Hell has he gotten himself into.
it was very very brief....and the announcer talked over it :mad:
but it was very cool to watch :up: :up:
...when my other pc is free ill encode it and put it online for everyone to see...i have a feeling we will see the full teaser trailer in a few weeks.

i thought about it some more and it makes sense...Extra just had a clip of the trailer and typically nothing will be shown of a trailer unless its due to be officially released very soon. Aug 5th would be exactly one year before GR is released and Dukes might cater to the same age group that would be interested in something like GR. i think seeing that "V" trailer annoucnement on SHH might have had a hand in it too...heh
thats my guess...if im wrong no big deal but if im right i need to go into the fortune telling business. handy little trick to have when you are buying stocks :D

Nic seems great! I have some issues on the skull...probably because it's got flame inside and not hollow blackness, but the logo looks well done, as well as the fire chain links explosion, kind of chaotic animation that one, with bike passing- fire engulfing-chain whipping-flashing skull coming and chain link breaking loose.... Strangely i liked the flashing skull at the very start the best.... The fire is still at a very early stage, they are still composing it like single moving masses, but it's a start. It recalled me much the GR1 little flames style...
If they succeed to make every GR apparition with the lightning/fire of the new poster at comic con i think i wil poo in my pants...O_O

i think that clip was shown during the week and they just had an hour long show as a recap of everything they talked about.
the clip was on Comic Con and the announcer was talking about how A list stars were wanting to do comic book movies....naturally GR came up. Eva talked a little before and after the clip..nothing new really.
the sex scene was supposedly in the original draft but they decided to cut it.
thankfully Decypher let us know about the clip...gave me enough time to find out Extra would repeat that night at 12:20. i would have missed it if it wasnt for his heads up... :up:

The sex scene will just be saved for a Director's Cut of the movie. Yet again Mark Steven Johnson will pull another Daredevil on us & we won't be getting the original cut of the movie to begin with, so it will just be another double dipper when it comes time for the dvd release.

I don't think this is the case, if you look well at the clip you can see the CG developing level differences. Just look at the smooth, defined, real like flames of the logo at the end(wich surely they worked on more time than the rest). We can at least expect that level of cg fire in every GR scene of the movie.But i am sure it will look way more better. The skull is not even lighted properly, they are still positioning it on the head of the stuntman, as you can see from the unnatural, mechanical way he turns, or moves. And the fire on the skull seems also in the positioning test, they are trying to see how much of the skull to cover with fire, where to make it more ablaze, and the lightning of the skull is not even attempted so it's still an early 3d model with pretty basical or none at all of bone "skin"... much of the coolnes of it will come from where and how they illuminate/shade it.
All this kind of work needs big amount of time, especially the animation/positioning of the skull, which will play a big part in GR expressions.

OH, the producers at Fox all but admit they screwed up, as they convinced Johnson to remove a good half-hour from the film, and seeing it back in the context of the film, you see the story he was trying to tell for day one, a story that's a lot more cohesive and just makes more sense.

For those who might say his skull doesnt look good (which im sure we will get that soon)... Its still early and the special effects work is pretty rough. I can pretty much guaruntee that. They still have a year left for filming, i think it looks decent. But its going to get sooo much better.

I have to agree, for this initial stage of development...actually i did enjoy ol' Scorp looks in that movie, the skull had the right skinny/razor look of Saltares/Texeira art, but was a little too much demonic, and square, but was really good.
But on the other hand....i mean....the BROW...:eek:

thats right, i didnt realize i had the episode, until i saw the bonus episode on DVD, I thought the "Innocent Blood" was on the Hulk DVD, buts its the 5th episode, and the DVD only has the 1st 4 episodes, + the bonus episode from the 1960's hulk cartoon.

But the FF, man, GR beats Galactus!
He wins when FF and Thor failed!

As for GR beatin' Galactus, who else would clean up the mess? Sheesh. Actually, in the comics ol' fireface was instrumental in stopping a lot of villians from doing what they do best. His determination and unwillingness to stay down was very threatening to the worst of villians.

Man, I really want to see those episodes. I've never seen any of them and I wanna see GR in action, badly.

My computer came with a video editor so i just extracted the stills from the .mpg & avi files. The picture with his hands up is from the X-Men episode, u only see him for like 5 seconds. The one where he's on the hellcycle is from the Fantastic Four episode. This photo is from theThe Incredible Hulk Episode. He Looks better in the FF Episode, especially the flames.

and the story so far goes if ua didnt already know...... when the war between the angels in heaven ended and god cast out all the rebels, they didnt all fall to hell, some landed in the sea or in the desert and all over the earth aswell, mephisto was more than willing to allow centuries to pass untill the final war approached but his son blackheart wasnt happy with this so started coming to earth to gasther an army of demons together to go and kik start the war, else where johnny blaze is asking for someone to save his father barton blaze, which mephistio answer to and says he will save barton from this desease thats killing him in return for blazes soul, now blaze agrees, but somewhere along the line barton dies, seeing as jhonny thinks he`s been tricked out of his soul he refuses to give it up, so mephisto makes a new deal, he will bond a demon to blaze and make him the devils bounty hunter, when he has reclaimed blackheart and the other demons his soul is free!

have fun with that and the trailer is the very best ive seen so far
