I use texture/edge smoothing depending on what I need. Yeah I had it set a little high on Invincible, but I liked the way it looked so I kept it :)

Yeah I use it pretty much as a base colour, kinda like a guide. I find working in a dark base colour is better than something like white.

This is my first attempt ever at using the shading techniques in photoshop on the x-men pic and its taking ages so I thought I might as well keep you guys up to date. Here's what I got so far:
