Lucius Fox, Commissoner Loeb, Earle's secretary Jessica, at least one of League of Shadows ninjas... There doesn't seem to be a particular lack of black people in Gotham.

Not that there shouldn't be more, it doesn't matter either way, it's just I wondered why you were bothered by it?

ok, thats like 3 black ppl in the city of gotham...Gotham can't be THAT white...black ppl commit a lot of crime too :D

Plus, I'm African American...though it doesn't REALLY matter...I just like seeing people like me portrayed in film (culturally speaking)

Three prominent characters in the film, not just three people in all of Gotham... :p

I understand though, it's good to have a solid mix of ethnicities in films like this, that take place in these huge multicultural cities. Though at the moment there's really not that much to complain about, I think, though there's always room for improvement.

I agree. More black people. Especially in Arkham:joker:

Seriously though, there's no need for there to be more black people in Batman movies. Not every minority has to be represented in a movie. Diversity Issues aren't a part of Batman. Gotham City is a primarily white city.

Never upset me (even though I'm a white american) considering the last one had them. Funny too how a lot of non-American actors are top choices for villians (Suchet for Penguin, Pearce for Dent)

Well that shouldn't upset people either. Barring some obvious examples, what does an actors nationality or ethnicity matter if he does a great job?

While I do think black people should be portrayed for various reasons, if nothing else but for keeping with the law of averages...

Batman Begins had a black Commissioner... creating him, apparently, out of a white character... oh, and Lucious Fox... Keeping with this is a comic book, during which all iconic aspects were developed during a period of racial intolerance, I'd say that's pretty good...

Oh... and Lucious Fox...

If the Batman comics were more racially diverse I could say so, but as is, Lucious Fox being Batman's saving grace, supplier, brains of WayneCorp and hilarious confidant of Batman's secret identity... wow... I just think we can take quality over quantity on this one...

ok, maybe im just complaining about this cuz there's nothing else to complain aboutIn affect, you didn't feel there was enough of a "minority" in the opinions here, so you, in a deliciously ironic stroke, created a thread dealing with minorities in Batman Begins.

...that's deep.

Maybe in TNBA. Not so much in TAS. And it's the comics I'm really concerned about anyway. Regardless, if it were possible to do him, you could certainly get away with casting a black actor.

i guess so...

how do you think it could be possible to do croc? there is a disease that makes one's skin appear reptilianThere is such a skin disorder in real life that the one Croc has was based on. I don't remember what it was called but I heard about it and saw some pictures a couple of years back. I'm still holding out that Croc could work in a realistic Bat-verse. TDK should give us a better idea of where Nolan is drawing the line.

zer00
08-22-2006, 12:55 AM
Croc can work. Really he's just a strong dude with a skn disorder.

Just him being a good enough villian to give big screen cred to is the hard part. He might end up overhauled:o

vibeke_T
08-22-2006, 03:44 PM
maybe he can just have a cameo...

Matis17
08-22-2006, 05:27 PM
Or play henchman to another villain.

Matis17
08-22-2006, 05:43 PM
He doesn't have to be B&R Bane to be someone's henchman.:whatever:

Plus, unlike with Bane, having him working for another villain would be consistant with Croc from the comics.

Two-Face
08-22-2006, 05:52 PM
Well in MOTB Bane worked for The Penguin but still acted like he owed The Penguin and Rubert Thorne.

Matis17
08-22-2006, 06:18 PM
Point is, as long as the writing stays as great as BB, there's no reason that Killer Croc working for another villain with turn out anything Bane in B&R.

Nah. You're black? Guess what, me too. And this **** is far from funny. Gotham city doesn't need more black people? Oh, cause like three is enough, right? That's probably not what he meant, but damn, surely you can understand that that might be taken the wrong way. That **** is just not funny to me. Black people commit crime too? Yeah, he was joking but damn, ya know? You can atleast see where I'm coming from.

ChrisBaleBatman

Actually, I believe Luscious might have a son (or 2) and maybe a daugther. But, they're both young kids. Maybe pre-teens. I think they showed up in the final Devin Grayson issue in Gotham Knights, where Bruce visits the Fox household to see Lucious' wife and kids since Fox was still in the hospital from his heart attack.

The mechanic's name was Earl. Earl Cooper.

His daugther's name was Marva Cooper.

:( Damn. You looked so damn familiar. Now I'm going to spend the rest of the night trying to figure out why. I hate that. But yeah, Batman definitely needs to indulge himself in some purty black women.... and white women......... and asian women. He just needs to be a whore. A real role model. That'd be a good way to stick it to the parents who complain about the movies being too dark. Batman-whore DAMMIT! Who's w/ me?
