Yeah, probably. It could've led to flashbacks of Zordon and his ancient crew of badasses fighting Rita 10,000 years ago, which I always wanted to see. But they never delved that deep into backstories at that point in PR.

Yeah, and I was talking about how the costumes and the series as a whole look based on that promo. The fact that the JF Rangers' costumes are based on Bruce Lee's jumpsuit doesn't make them any less ugly.

Well, it takes a bit getting used to. I didn't like them that much at first either. But they get a lot better when they receive their power up, IMO. And the Violet ranger hast probably the best normal outfit, out of the whole bunch.

There was a backstory. It was explained in the first episode that Zordon lost the coin during a battle with Rita. And, yes, they had a quick flashback.

meh, i'll give Go-onger a chance. we did get some good seasons which had some funky bad mechas.

it was kinda kool to bring back the retro look with a vehical theme. and that they made it different with a blue lion and a green dolphin...

im just worried about the personifed mechas. since they have eyes, im just hoping that theyre not going talk -_-*

Story/Go-Onger/Enjin:
The "MachineWorld"- another world where giant beings who resemble cars lived, called the "Enjin." There unfolded the war between the Enjin and the Bankizoku Gaiarc. However, the Gaiarc escape through time and space, to another dimension, and have to come to invade the Human World. The Enjin follow after them to the Human World to stop the invasion. Here they must find the people who will become both their pilots and their partners- They will be known as the Go-Onger.
Esumi Sosuke/Go-OnRed (played by Furuhara Yasuhisa), is a former race car driver from "New Figure Racer." Kousaka Renn/Go-OnBlue (played by Kataoka Shinwa) is a former bus driver. Rouyama Saki/Go-OnYellow (played by Aizawa Rina) worked in race shop.
To help them, the Enjin create a Support Robot, called Bomper (voiced by Nakagawa Akiko.)
Jo Hant/Go-OnGreen (played by Usui Masahiro) formerly worked at part time jobs, including pizza delivery. Ishihara Gunpei/Go-OnBlack (played by Ebisawa Kenji), is a former police officer.
In the Human World, the Enjin cannot exist in their full size. Thus, they split themselves into two halves- their body, called the EnjinCasts, and their souls, called the EnjinSouls. If the Go-Onger set the Souls inside the casts, the Enjin will return to their original size. EnjinSpeedor (voiced by Namikawa Daisuke), EnjinBuson (voiced by Egawa Hisao) and EnjinBearRV (voiced by Inoue Miki), can unite, becoming EnjinOh. His finisher is the "Go-On Grand Prix." Though at first only 3 Enjin could come through to the Human World, there seems to be a lot more still waiting to cross over.

Bankizoku Gaiarc:
A race who existed on the MachineWorld alongside the Enjin, except they prefer a polluted enviroment to thrive in. The three Generals of the Gaiarc are GaiChi Daijin Yogostein (voiced by Yanada Kiyoyuki), GaiSui Daijin Kegalesia (played by Oikawa Nao), and GaiKi Daijin Kitaneidas (voiced by Madono Mitsuaki.) The Gaiarc based themselves in a fortress on an isolated insland, called the "HellGaiyu Kyuuden."
The monsters they create to pollute the Earth are called the "BankiJyu." They are seperated into 3 classes- Land, Water, and Sky. The first of these machinations is "BankiJyu ShoukakuBanki." The minions of the Gaiarc called the Ugattsu.


Shame we might not get this series in 09 but at least theres subs :)

Well I saw half of season 1, then was like this is great carried on watching, got my mum into it also :D its a great show, season 1 and 3 I really liked. Its good to see people still getting into it though

I saw an episode from season 4 and I was about not even half way through it and I was hooked.

I like the whole spy, double agent concept...CIA... and its emotional elements..ie: Betrayal, Lies, deception, Love, Hate,... manipulation...man its got everything in one. So I went out last month and rented season 1. Took me two days to watch (yeah i watched it through the night as well) and then I rented season 2 that same day and rented season 3 and four two days after that and then season 5 on a sunday... season 5 had me in tears... tears and joy.

I know some didn;t like the last few seasons... but I did cause it was apart of the story...you had to know what was gonna happen next...otherwise it would have been pointless without a real ending. So all 5 seasons are the coolest seasons of Alias I;ve ever seen...period.

Then she goes back to the bed and all the sudden she hikes up her hospital gown revealing the scar on her body...and its like... uh bleeding and open. she digs her hand inside the wound and she pulls out this long white tube thing and blood is everywhere and theres a shot of her just standing there with a pool of blood around her feet and then she wakes up (obviously it was a nightmare) and she freaks out as if it was real and Jen's acting was...wow. Her reaction to the nightmare was how I would react. I was scared too. :( Though it was very sick and disturbing...

MMPR wasn't great. None of the seasons/shows have been great. MMPR was just fun for its time. But I'll admit that I enjoyed PRiS. It was a well-produced season. It had flaws (ex: the chick who played Astronema sucked, Andros was a jackass for most of the season, TMNT episode, Justin episode, etc) but it was well-produced.

The three teen warriors must go to where evil once made its home, a land once uninhabited, now known as Ocean Bluff, California. The morphers transform Casey into the Red Ranger, who has the animal spirit of a Tiger – a bit of a rebel who likes to do things his own way. None of the post Dino Thunder seaons have caught my attention. I saw a couple of episodes of SPD. Seemed interesting, but not enough to keep me watching on a regular basis. The fact is that the ONLY seasons of PR that I've seen all the way through have been: season one of MMPR, Zeo, In Space, and Dino Thunder. The rest just didn't do it for me. Except the first half of season two of MMPR. You know...when the original cast was there and Lord Zedd wasn't turned into a fool yet.

I'm hesitant to start a thread on sentai since theres probably only a few people on the board.

I've seen Sentai (and like it), but not enough to spend more than a few days discussing it. I think in SOME cases it's better than PR. In Japan they take the material a little more seriously, but not enough to disguise the fact that a its a silly show. The Japanese know how to do these types of shows. The Americans could learn a thing or two.

I never saw Time Force. If its good or not I don't know. I stopped watching PR a few episodes into Turbo back in 1997. Then, in 2004 when I heard Tommy was coming back I decided to check out Dino Thunder. Somehow they tricked me into watching the entire season. And then I stopped watching again. As for PRiS...it's a season I checked out recently cause of all the buzz. It was pretty good. It had some MAJOR flaws, but pretty good nonetheless.

And, by the way, if you read this thread from summer 2002 it's obvious I hadn't seen the show since `97. It's kinda sad. I couldn't even remember some of the character's names. :o

Watching the Go-onger ending credits and opening credits I noticed there's no New Zealand crew credited

This may be that either Go-Onger was done totally and completely in Japan (the op and ed I mean), OR that unless it's encoded and in our DVD players, Go-Onger footage will never be seen on western television as Power Rangers 09

The opening credits of Magi, Bouken, and Geki in their pilot episodes all had NZ Unit/PR Production credits on them, but for a few episodes later on their not credited

Gekiranger was one of the best Sentai series ever since Dekaranger. I'll never forget about Gekiranger.

I've seen Go-onger episode 1 and it was pretty interesting. I felt like I'm watching Power Rangers Turbo. That gave me a vibe of Turbo. Hopefully, it'll be a good series as Gekiranger.

One thing I've disliked about Disneys Power Rangers is the forced humor, and terrible casting for some of the rangers or villians. So far from the first episode of JF Disney got it right. I found the rangers to be quite good,and the badguys are interesting, and the humor makes me laugh for once. Hopefully they keep it up.

I knew RJ was their new Master from the moment he first approched them, It was way too obvious (That he was teaching them a lesson ) so yeah he'll probably become a Ranger .

The pilot was both very chessy & way too predictable . After 16 years you'd think they come up with story plot to introduce a Next-Gen of Power Rangers. I want something fresh that's never been done before .

Tommy made the show a hit. He was the reason kids watched this show everyday. When he left in `97 he took most of the audience with him. Let's face it...the ratings haven't been the same since that era. And notice that when he returned in 2004 a lot of people re-discovered the show. Tommy is just the man. Plain and simple!

Such good memories. I used to watch the Might Morphin' along with my friends, we used to love it. But after Zeo, I stopped. I watched some newer Rangers like Ninja Force, In Space, and the recent one- can't remember the name, but only a few episodes...they are not interesting. It's the same reason I hated the X-Men movies. Logan's a great character, when he plays his role. When he's the center of the universe, it cheapens everything else, no matter how great it is. It's hard to be a "Great character" when you cheapen your universe.

If Tommy had not been the center of the PR universe, he could have kept the show exciting without taking the audience with him in 1997. Tommy is the man, yes... but the show would be better off if he was just "the man" and not, "the center of the universe."

I don't think Tommy was really the center of attention till the three cast members left. When the three were still around there was still a balance within the cast. Not only did you get episodes that revolved around Tommy, but episodes that revolved around other Rangers...whether it was Kimberly having a day of bad luck, or Jason feeling bad for Tommy losing his powers, or Zack trying to hook up with Angela.

Jason will forever be my favorite ranger. Best red ranger, and second best "sixth" ranger (after White Ranger, of course, and closely followed by the Quantum Ranger).

I stopped watching after In Space, btw. Then I watched the whole Ninja Storm, then watched a bit of Dino Thunder. Then I completely stopped.

Power Rangers was the best, a huge part of my childhood. I always thought, even as a kid, that they should have ended it with the In Space finale... perfect end to the series instead of a lot of the crap that followed. I've tried to watch some of the new ones, but they just can't compare.

For almost a year now after the huge success of the Transformers movie and the continuing trend of using ideas from the 80s or 90s for movies, I can't help but dream of a big budget Power Ranger movie based off the first seasons. I know it will never ever happen, but think of it, movies about invading aliens make money (Independance Day, War of the Worlds), movies with Martial Arts and action always do well, and Transformers showed movies full of giant robots can be huge at the box office. Just imagine the DinoMegazord vs the Dragonzord with a budget of like 100 million dollars. A Lord Zedd that can truely be evil and scarely instead of having to be toned down for kids, he was an alien with no skin and an exposed brain, how badass is that lol, sending down giant armies of invading Putties (I even sketched a version of them that I don't think would look too ridiculous on screen) attacking cilvilians, facing the army, ect. I have a lot of time where my mind wanders in school, thought of a good story arc for like three movies based off of the orignal show, evil green ranger, Serpenterra, all the best stuff lol. I know it will never happen but you can dream .

I've always been a PR fan. MMPR and the Saban seasons were the best era of the franchise. the Disney years have been fun. I liked NS and DT. but SPD and MF blew me away. The SPD premiere didn't even seem like PR. Bruce Kalish hasn't done a bad job. I heard he's leaving next year. I'd like to see Jackie Merchand take his place as EP.

they had a awesome big budget movie. i thought it was very well made.

but i wouldn't mind an independent A-Z film. that would be fun. Speed racer was a bomb, so they have to be careful.
