TC Clark. Yey!! I'd love to be his nurse in that episode.:)
This season is sounding all very interesting. I wish we knew how he lost his powers, and I wonder how long they will keep them away.
Maybe its all part of his development in becoming a super hero.
Did anyone see that Touched by An Angel episode when Monica lost her sight, its kinda reminding me of that.

'Blasts' are TV fakes, warns SkyTrain
Broadcast News
Friday, July 22, 2005
VANCOUVER -- Passengers riding Vancouver's rapid transit system Friday night may get a bit of a fright when they hear a big "boom" that sounds like an explosion.
But SkyTrain officials say not to worry: it's just the film crew from the hit television show Smallville, using special effects that sound like explosions.
The series, which follows comic-book superhero Superman as a youngster, will be shooting in Burnaby between 10 p.m. and midnight Friday.
Officials say the boom will likely be heard between the Edmonds and Royal Oak stations.
SkyTrain says the filming poses no risk to travellers, but given the recent terrorist attacks in London, the company felt it was prudent to warn its customers.

New spoilers at Kryptonsite (http://www.kryptonsite.com/smallvillespoilers.htm):
New spoilers in yellow posted 7/22/05
- Tom Welling announced at the 2005 Television Critics Association press tour that their next episode to be filming would feature an appearance by another DC Comics character - Aquaman. He will have a romantic fling with Lois Lane. Click here for more details. (http://www.kryptonsite.com/smallvillespoilers.htm)
- This episode introduces James Marsters as Prof. Milton Fine.
Professor Fine Propositions Clark
- Professor Fine tells Clark that he should come work for him, even though Clark shows up late for his class and fumbles with excuses. "Actually, I'm not looking for a job, sir," Clark tells him. "The only thing worse than the fear of speaking the truth, is the fear of uncovering it," Fine tells him. "If you know Lex Luthor, ask him yourself."
At the Luthor mansion....
- Lex has hired a swim coach. He's surprised to find "A.C.," a 19-year old phenom from the Stanford swim team. Why are my Hoyay alarms going off? "Your inexperience is a concern," Lex tells the young man. We learn that A.C. - Arthur Curry - bowed out of the Olympic trials. "There are more important things in life than chlorine and winning medals," Arthur tells Lex. "Like what? Finding the perfect wave?" "Among other things."
- Lex introduces Clark to his new swim coach. Arthur recognizes Clark for a rescue from earlier in the day. "You were like a torpedo out there," Clark tells him. "I'm going to show our boy Lex everything I know," Arthur replies.
Later, in the Talon...
- Arthur meets Lois at the Talon and says "Do you look beautiful or what?" Seems at this point he's already rescued Lois twice.
- "You're not like most chicks, are you?" Arthur asks Lois. "Life would be a whole lot easier if there were," she tells him. He calls her on her "bad-ass" attitude, but inside sees her tenderness. Arthur kisses her. Clark walks in to the Talon at that time.

It stupid cause I think the writers are listening a little too much to the people on the net (something they admit they do) and because people like Lois they've added more of her but really they haven't done anything creative with her as well.

I can't stand Lana (in this show she) is already ruin beyond the point of No Retrun. She had potential to be a good character too but I think you're right about "the point of no return" which is why I think they're trying to develop Chloe and Lois more. Lana did beat Marissa Cooper of the OC for most hated character at the Zap2it boards but if you read the responses most said that they liked Lana in the early seasons. I think the writers really just dropped the ball with her character, hopefully though they can bring something back or at least develop Chloe and Lois better if Lana really is beyond the point of no return ;) makes me feel bad for Kristin though :( even she has said her fustrations with her character

What Lois is the best thing that laned in smallville (other than Badass super powered Flying Kryptonian Kal-EL) She brings something to the show a little Sugur & and little Spice. and I love how Clark can't standed be around her as a teenager,But know as an adult he won't be able to keep his eyes off her. And then Lois (will be the one who won't stand being around Clark.) It's funny to see how as teenagers They can't stand being together, Then as Adult's They won't won't to be apart for each other.

Press Tour Day 4:
3:15 Back at the Beverly Hilton, I find a reporter and ask for a quick rundown of everything I missed. Apparently, former Friends producer Marta Kauffman gave what amounted to the single most boring monologue in press-tour history at the start of the Related session. And Smallville’s Tom Welling, after announcing that James Marsters would be doing six episodes as Brainiac, won critics over with the single most engaging monologue in press-tour history. But unlike Kauffman, who rambled on for what reportedly felt like hours, Welling was run off stage after just 10 minutes.
Aww, he always charms the audience. I wonder why he got run off the stage. ????

In S:TM (which SV nods every so often - including the crystal toss at the end of Commencement), Clark spends 12 YEARS at the FOS learning. Well, what if one of the first "assignments" is what it's like to live - and DIE - as a mortal? What if it's the fortress itself that takes his powers away? It wouldn't necessarily know that Clark's been down that road before, but he's never actually died. Just a thought. :)

i find that a problem with tv, and thats why i dont watch it, its like well if its watched it will stay on.
and really theres no end, till the viewers go on.
basic science i know....
but it just usually has the characters changing left and right, back around then a another way, then the old way, and then pop they dont resemble themselves at all...
and i think it just gets out of hand.
when i start my series, i will write it out and it will have an end im working towards, rather than playing by ear.

Thanks to James at www.tomwelling.org (http://www.tomwelling.org) for the scoop. ;) (Love ya, James... :D )
Tom talks directing, Tom Wopat and the Lex-Clark-Lana triangle.
Fortress of Scooptitude: Tom Welling tells me he's thrilled James Marsters is joining Smallville as Clark's latest nemesis, Brainiac. "I'm very interested to see who Brainiac was in his younger years, and I'm very interested to see James without the accent and the blond hair." And how.
Tom also reveals to me he will be directing an episode this season. "It seems the pool is empty as far as directors go, I guess, and so they're bringing me in. It will be [my first directing gig]. I'm very excited. At this point, I'm only doing one. I think they're waiting to see maybe what it turns out to be."
Other morsels on the coming season? Tom says he's "really looking forward to Tom Wopat and John Schneider being mortal enemies." (You know they are former Dukes of Hazzard costars, right?) Also, "More will happen in season five than what's happened in the first four seasons combined. We have the Fortress of Solitude. And it is season five, so we have to start moving some of these relationships closer to where we know they're going to end up. The Clark-Lex relationship. The Lana-Clark relationship--why isn't she a part of Superman's life? We're gonna find out. The Lana-Lex relationship. I mean, there are some firecrackers there."

this should be funny. i wonder how its brought up and chloe finally tells clark he knows. maybe he just tells her
- Either slightly before this scene, or slightly after it, Chloe is helping Clark navigate through some vents. She asks him if super complaining was one of his abilities that she didn't know about, so yes, they have had The Talk. Clark then says something to Chloe about how Pete didn't bother him this much, and Chloe replies "You told Pete?!?!" "Well, he found my spaceship." "He saw your spaceship?!?!" The scene sounds like a lot of fun.

Ok, so finally got the reason Tom was shuffled off the stage at the TCA. This is from some Philly newspaper. Got the article from TWOP
Superboy's challenge.Everybody knows Superboy can see in the dark. But not Tom Welling, the guy who plays him on the WB's Smallville.
The handsome Welling, who looks old enough to be Superboy's father, trotted onstage to reveal coming not-so-secrets about his show (Aquaman arrives; James Marsters will play Brainiac). Then he introduced the stars of a new show, the scary Supernatural: Jared Padalecki (Gilmore Girls) and Jensen Ackles (Smallville). At 23 and 27, the two are wizened WB veterans.
Lights in the Beverly Hilton's International Ballroom - Press Tour Central and the place where the Golden Globes are held - dimmed so the network could present a Supernatural clip.
"Are they behind me?" the muddled Welling moaned forlornly in the dark. "Am I supposed to leave? Is that why the lights went out?"
And then he shuffled carefully off the stage.

Question: Your Press Tour Diaries were hilarious, but let's get down to business: What have you heard about Dean Cain returning to Las Vegas? And is it true that he's in talks to guest-star on Smallville? Kristin at E! Online says so. - Jennifer Biller

I have a feeling that the TV Guide reporter got her facts mixed up a little. Perhaps Cain is in talks to guest on SV. Maybe the reporter mistakenly applied that to the Aquaman storyline (a visitor of royal blood sweeping Lois off her feet)?

You know, I just had a thought:
I'd wager that given that Tom is directing an episode, or maybe even two, that we will have a pretty good chance at him doing commentary for this season's DVD set.... Would he be more willing to do that on an episode he directs? I don't know, but I think it would be more likely. He's would have tons more invested in an episode he's directed and might want to have his thoughts recorded... Or, at least I hope so.
It would be brilliant to hear him do commentary on one of the ones he's directed, especially if it's a mythos centric ep.

New info on Kryptonsite from Miles Millar:
- Miles Millar reveals that those who have been hoping for a Clark and Lana relationship will be in luck. "Clark and Lana will actually date this year, which is a Smallville first," he said. "They've been talking about it for five years, we thought it was time for them to actually do something about it." And could Lana handle Clark's secret? "That's the question that haunts Clark every day of his life. Should he risk telling her or not. You'll have to wait and see what he does."
- Will Miles Millar direct again, possibly a sequel to "Memoria?" "I'm planning to direct later this year," he told KryptonSite. "I had a blast shooting Memoria, but it's all about timing. It's such a different experience from writing and it was great interacting with the cast and crew on a different level."
So...Clark will finally date Lana. Do you think he'll tell her at some point in the series?

here is an excerpt from an interview in the Ventura County Star
August 4, 2005
Still proud of being a Duke, John Schneider continues to house the General Lee -- a vintage 1969 Dodge Charger from his old "The Dukes of Hazzard" days -- in his garage at his home in Agoura Hills.
After reading two of the upcoming season's "Smallville" scripts, he said he sees a trend toward more family stories involving his Jonathan Kent, Annette O'Toole's Martha and Tom Welling's Clark, the future Superman.
"I hope he's in a few episodes," Schneider said of his old buddy at a WB press party in Hollywood; he learned about Wopat's role shortly before it was announced to the media.
Plot lines
Now graduated from high school, Clark is staying home to help rebuild the farm after last season's catastrophic events. He'll also attend college. (The beautiful Kent home set, which was applauded by a design magazine, is in ruins at the start of the season, Schneider said with some regret in his voice.)
"We're moving back to the normalcy of family," Schneider said, but he added the storyline involving Jor-El, Clark's Kryptonian father, isn't over.
Never mind Krypton or the fact that Clark is faster than a speeding bullet, the boy still needs his human father, Schneider said.
Clark has been so busy saving the day that he's missing out about lessons about dealing with people, including knowing when someone is lying, Schneider said.
"Clark has skipped over an important development stage that needs to happen for a young man," he said. "As a real parent, I miss the part of life when the kids need advice from me. They get to the point when they know everything.
" 'Dad, can I talk to you?' are the most heartwarming words a parent can hear," he said. "If an 11-year-old gets his feelings hurt by his friends at camp, you can tell. As they get older, they have a tendency not to bear their souls."
Wishing art imitated life
Schneider said that at times he wishes his Agoura Hills home could be like his too-good-to-be-true one in "Smallville."
"It's hard when your 15-year-old is not interested in talking when you just had a wonderful (scripted) conversation with your 16-year-old TV son."
He said playing Jonathan Kent has taught him to listen better to his children.
Still, neither Superman's dad nor the actor who plays him has all the answers.
"Being a parent is a very rewarding thing and a confusing thing at the same time," Schneider said.
The Clark Kent story is the story of every family, Schneider said.
"We all have supermen and supergirls in our households," he said. "Every kid can do things no one else can do.
"Is there a difference between having compassion for someone in need and having the ability to go faster than a speeding bullet? Having compassion for someone in need is more important than leaping tall buildings in a single bound."

Clana aside... here's a quote from TW - "More will happen in season five than what's happened in the first four seasons combined.
They can't exactly end the Clark/Lana relationship unless they actually have one first.
Personally, I look forward to it. I mean, it is still SV, so nothing will ever be truly normal, but I'd like to see Clark happy in a real relationship for once. I hope they don't go overboard on it though. At least if they're finally together, the angst factor (that was really getting annoying) can be taken out of the equation. It'll be nice to see Lana happy for a while too.. until he rips her heart out and leaves her that is. ;)

I think that they always wanted them to be a couple, but felt that to bring it in at season 2 would be too long and boring to make it last throughout the duration of the series.
Now is the right time to make them a couple and have it last until the series ends. Lana will be able to teach Clark some valuable lessons. What they are, we can only speculate, but I'm sure she will be a valuable person in his current and future life.

OH man just when I thought It was over they bring it back, I HATE CLANA:down  Clark & Lana in this series relationship isn't as good as their relationship in the comics . Clark isn't going to tell Lana the truth because (This){Version} of Lana Lang can't handle the truth. I think this new try at Clark&Lana could work better than other past attempts to make their relationship watchable. hopefully, like you said, they can move the pair out of the angst stage. character evolution is a fun thing.

Oh my god, it's getting close now to the start of the new season. I'm really starting to get excited. We need some sort of timer on this site just like they have at bluetights.net. Incase some of you don't know, they have a count down timer at the top of the site, counting down the days, minutes and seconds until the release of Superman Returns. I don't know much about web site design but is there anyone out there that could set something like that up here but counting down to the start of the new season. lol that would be cool

Season 5 seems to be big from the spoilers: Brainiac, Aquaman. But i'm also interested in the sixth episode called Exposed: A Senator, friend of Jonathan Kent, comes to Smallville. It seems it will be a Kent family episode, something that we don't have for some time.

Smallville Finds Its "Buffy"
In every episode there is a Chosen One. She alone is cast among many who audition to get a part. She alone is the Guest Star.
In this case, the role of "Buffy Sanders" in the episode "Thirst" has been filled by an actress named Brooke Nevin, according to her official website. Brooke is probably best known for her role as Nikki Hudson in the first season of The 4400.

I think they're re-heeely starting to overdo it. "Buffy" was baaaaaaaaad, but this is ridiculous...

Episode #5-6: "Exposed" From (K-site)
Ding, Dong, The Kents' Freeloader Is Gone
- Lois tells Chloe she needs her help moving out of the Kents' place... she's moving into the apartment over the Talon. Guess Lana has vacated the premises. "How you ever had a crush on Richie Cunningham I'll never understand," Lois says to Chloe, referring to Clark.
- Lois mentions that Chloe hasn't been to Smallville in weeks.
- Chloe answers a phone. "Daily Planet info line." Guess that job thing from previous weeks has worked out. She gets a call from a frantic woman, wanting to meet at 7th and Edgemont - a seedier district of Metropolis.
- When they arrive, Chloe and Lois spot an attractive young girl named Melissa Knox running for her life across a street. One of her heels is broken, and she looks frantic. A sedan comes out of the darkness and plows toward Melissa, sending her flying and killing her in front of the eyes of Lois and Chloe.
Clark Wants To Go Someplace...
- "You'll have to abandon the jeans and the t-shirt, and you can't drive up in your dad's truck," Lex tells Clark, throwing him his own keys. He asks Clark to do him a favor and "stay out of trouble."
Chloe and Lois Try To Get Into The Club
- ...But they can't find this club they're looking for, among a bunch of dingy warehouses. They finally find where they want to be, and Lois tries the "our friends are already in there" routine. No, go. So they sneak in the back door where the dancers come in. Chloe starts investigating, trying to find out if anyone knows anything about a murdered girl named Melissa Knox. They do their investigator thing, and somehow it ends up with Lois being undercover as a dancer, having been mistaken as "the replacement Rocco sent over." Yes, this does sound like the rumored "Lois stripper" episode. Must be sweeps. *Cue sounds of eyes rolling* And hey, considering the Dukes of Hazzard connections later in this episode, shouldn't it have been Rosco who sent her over? Okay, we'll stop now.
Meeting With Luke
- Clark has his own way of getting in, and he goes to the Windgate Club in Metropolis at night to meet with senator Jack Jennings. (More on him further down on the spoilers) He says he's been referred by Lex Luthor.
Clubbing, Smallville Style
- Clark uses his super-hearing to listen to a bad guy named Andre talking to the owner of the Windgate Club. The owner makes a reference to paying Andre 500K.
- Clark is about to bust in on Andre's meeting when Detective Maggie Sawyer comes through the door. "Metropolis PD!" She wants to speak to some people about the death of one of this club's dancers.
- Lois apparently works at the Windgate Club, and Andre tells her to come with him through a back exit after Sawyer comes in. There's an arrest... and Sawyer puts cuffs on... Clark! End of act two.
Chloe Is Arrested Too
- For what, we don't know. Sneaking in? Being a potential witness like Clark is? Whatever it is, it's right after Sawyer spots and recognizes her.
The Problem With Jennings
- Clark uses his hearing to listen to the bouncer talking to Sawyer. The bouncer tells her that Jennings took things hard when Melissa "cut him loose." Apparently Jennings has been blamed for the situation, and perhaps what Clark is trying to do is clear him.
Chloe & Clark Talk With Detective Sawyer
- "You can thank Lex Luthor for a few generous phone calls," Sawyer says to Chloe and Clark. Apparently Lex got them a "get out of jail free" card.
- Chloe tells Sawyer that she thinks the same person who killed Melissa Knox (aka "Andre") also may have her cousin (that would be Lois).
- Clark suggests that it may be the same guy also who made the deal with the owner right before she vanished. (How Clark explains how he knew about this, we have no idea.)
- Sawyer makes a comment that Chloe's cousin is likely underage, and was probably lucky to escape a police raid. Lois? Underage? There's a first. "If you want to play Nancy Drew and Hardy Boy, do it in another precinct," Sawyer tells them. No, Sawyer! They're playing Veronica Mars and Wallace!
Lois Is Off With Andre...
- And she sees boxes with polaroid pictures of women on them, including Melissa. Personal items of the women are inside. He starts taking photos of her. She says she wants to get a cab and leave. "Think of your taxi days as a thing of the past," he tells her. "You have a whole new life ahead of you, now. To us," he says. Yes, Lois has now replaced Lana as the Creepy Guys' Object Of Affection.
Now for the good stuff....
- Tom Wopat's character's name is Jack Jennings, and he happens to own a Dodge Charger. If anything remains in this script, let's please hope the Charger stays. Incidentally, the name "Jennings" is an inside joke in itself - as the legendary Dukes of Hazzard "Balladeer" was Waylon Jennings. Jennings is meeting with someone named Jordan about a journalist's rumor, when he hears a car rumbling and approaching. It's Jonathan, driving the Charger. Bo and Luke (the real Bo and Luke) are back!!! Jonathan tells him to get in. "With you behind the wheel?" Jennings says. "Guess it wouldn't be the first time I put your life in my hands."
- And if those Dukes of Hazzard references weren't enough... again, really, at least webmaster Craig is loving this... Jennings climbs in the car window. The door's been jammed ever since he got the car.

I think I'm going to enjoy this episode for 5 reasons (1) (The real Dukes of Hazzard) Bo & Luke Duke back together again (I hope when Jonathan is driving the Charger , (their be a case going on and we can see some good old Dukes of Hazzard car case) (2) Lois Lane undercover as a stripper , (This is going to be funny & hot, I'm sure of it.) (3) A Lois & Clark episode (Forshadowing of The Future) (4) Chloe working @ (The Daily Planet)
(5) NO LANA LANG (so far!)

I'm liking Maggie Sawyer's involvement with Clark. I hope they take that relationship somewhere.
Sheriff Adams was always opposed to Clark's involvement in crimes in Smallville, even tho I love the bantering between them.
I'm hoping that Sawyer will take a slightly more positive reaction to his involvement, like she does with Supes in the future.

I dont think that they would go to the expense of developing the set of FOS, and according to TW it is huge, without using it several times throughout the season, and possibly next.
I guess tho, they have to be careful that they dont overuse it, we want it to remain something special. After episodes 1 and 3 we may not get to see it again until episode 12.
Triligors
08-16-2005, 11:02 PM
Yeah, we might see FOS. I'm assuming that's how Superman Returns and Smallville are working together. Both the film and series are produced by the WB. So, they already have the set for the FOS. So, I'm betting that's the connection Singer, Gough and Millar are talking about between the film and series. That would make the most sense.
Also, is Tom Wypatt going to be just in this one episode or in other episodes as well?

Jeph Loeb interview:
He's long been associated with Superman through his comic book work, and joined the Smallville team at the beginning of Season 2. He also scored very highly on KryptonSite fan polls for his work on such favorite episodes as "Red," "Insurgence," "Legacy," and "Unsafe." Those who read his comics often keep Supergirl and Superman/Batman near the top of their "must read" pile. And soon, you'll be seeing him over at Marvel Comics and writing a movie based on Will Eisner's The Spirit.
Jeph Loeb is a man of many talents, and has long been a supporter and friend to this site and to Smallville. Loeb has moved on from his post as a Supervising Producer on the show, but he was kind enough to take the time to do an interview with KryptonSite about his departure and reflect on his time with the series.
KRYPTONSITE: Is it true that you won't be returning for Season 5, and if so, will you still be involved with the show in any way? Is there any chance you might do some work on the show again?
JEPH LOEB: Yes, it's true I won't be back for Season 5. Al and Miles asked me to return for Season 5 -- and 6 and 7 -- (my 3 year contract had ended) and we were working something out when my son's health became quite serious. As much as I loved working on the show, I knew I had to be with Sam. A & M were very understanding... they've been big Sam supporters since all of this began. Al and Sam were particularly close -- he took the role of "Uncle Al" very seriously. He introduced Sam to his yoga instructor "Yoga Adam" who went on to be a really good friend of my son's.
Since Sam died, the entire staff has been part of our extended family. Sam would come in every Friday before we went off drinking and then to sushi for dinner and was always part of the gang. (He drank Diet Coke's for all you Mom's out there!) There's little doubt in my mind that even at 17, he would have written an episode eventually. He was a truly gifted writer -- and a magical son.
I have only good memories of working on the show. The people, particularly Kryptonsite's Writers of the Year Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer and my personal Favorite Writers of the Year Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, I miss terribly.
But, I was involved in one way or another in sixty-six episodes and was lucky enough to be the writer on RED, INSURGENCE, LEGACY and UNSAFE. So, to answer your question, I never say never in terms of returning to anything. The subject matter (obviously) means a great deal to me and I adore the people.
They still call from time to time. When they need to know who was Aquaman's seahorse -- that sort of thing. I feel like William Shatner at a Star Trek convention... (laughs)
K-SITE: Do you have a proudest accomplishment of your time with the series?
LOEB: Making working there fun. And consuming more grapes than a person probably should have! (Thanks Caroline & G.!) It can be very intense in the writers room day after day for very long hours. I always tried to find "the funny." If we could laugh -- we could do anything. There never was a story we couldn't break (come up with a detailed outline for) -- they all might not have been Memoria (I think the series' best), but damn we gave it a good run. And it continues to run and hot. I've read the first few scripts of the season. Rock on, gang!
K-SITE: What projects are next for you?
LOEB: More stuff that keeps me closer to home. My first priority is to the adaptation of WILL EISNER'S THE SPIRIT. It's a wonderful story and the characters are so rich, I'm having a ball. Plus getting to work with Producer Michael Uslan (Batman Begins, Constantine) and the good folks at Odd Lot Entertainment has been so rewarding.
I have a pilot at FOX with McG's company Wonderland. It's got nothing to do with comics, but it's something I've wanted to write for a very long time. Peter Johnson, McG's President, is one of those people who I just see eye-to-eye with. It's like we're connected in the brain and he's been there every step of the way through the process. I hope it goes. People tell me it's very good, but what do they know...(laughs)
And, as if I don't have enough to do, I'm leaving DC exclusively to go exclusive with Marvel as of September 1st. I'm very excited about coming back to those characters and working with guys I've never gotten to work with before like Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Millar. Joe Quesada (the EIC [Editor-in-Chief - Craig]) is a close friend, so it feels like going home ... so far!
I still have a commitment to SUPERMAN/BATMAN (through Issue #25) and we've just launched SUPERGIRL this past week. We sold out the first issue in something like ten hours. DC has gone back to press on a second printing with a variant cover. (I can only imagine your non-comic book web-readers going "What that @#$% is he talking about?) (laughs)
K-SITE: Since there are a number of comic book fans who read KryptonSite - will your Marvel contract affect the newly-launched Supergirl series?
LOEB: As I have said elsewhere, DC has been very understanding about making a smooth transition and Marvel has been very understanding that I've given my word to the readers and the retailers that I won't leave an unmade bed. Short answer: We're working it all out.
(http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1563895285/gijoevid)K-SITE: You were the go-to guy for comic book knowledge during the time with the series, and as I understand it you worked out the appearances of characters like Bart Allen on the show. Can you talk about that?
LOEB: Well, first off, your understanding is not quite right. I certainly was looked to for the "comic book reference" -- but that wasn't why I was on the show. I think this misunderstanding grew out of my title for the first two years as "Consulting Producer". I was essentially doing the same job I did as Supervising Producer -- titles on Smallville (with the exception of Executive Producer) have little to do with responsibility. I was there, every day, on every show. I think people thought I came in on the day after the show aired and in my best "Comic Book Guy" from the Simpsons said "Worst Episode Ever!" and left for the day. I wish!
As we often would say, "There is no "I" in "Team," but there is in "Dick." (I hope I haven't offended the family audience!). The writing staff was/is a team. We look after each other and every script has a little bit of everyone besides that individual writer. Because I spent the greater majority of the show in the writer's room breaking stories, I got to see a bit more of what I do in the scripts. But only a bit.
K-SITE: Is there any word as to who will be replacing you in the writers' room?
LOEB: Again, it's not about replacing me. The team continues. No one single person can be responsible for an entire television series -- even creators as talented as Al and Miles need a writing staff. As long as the show has Todd, Darren, Kelly and Brian, they are in great hands. Add to that my pals Stephen Steven DeKnight and Holly Harold and John Litvack and Greg Beeman and the new writers (Wendy and The Wicked Monkeys! who came in after I left) and nobody has anything to worry about, I'm certain. Smallville will fly just as high as it always has!
Thanks and I'll see you all on Weds... er... Thursday nights at 8:00 PM!
KryptonSite would again like to thank Mr. Jeph Loeb for taking the time to do this interview, and we wish him the best of luck in the future. Photo at the top of this article taken by Darren Swimmer.

I think it's great... she friends with Michael Rosenbaum, apparently. She's might be doing it so she can work with him...
Back in May, I think, there was report from a fan that went to that Alzheimer's benefit that Allison Mack and John Glover attended in Maryland and the guy talked to AM's boy friend (I forget his name, but he played Wendall in Forever - the guy that is frozen by the FOTW in the hallway 5 minutes in) and he said he was dissappointed they couldn't go to MR's Memorial Day bar-b-q....
Then the topic got onto how great MR's parties are and how Carrie Fisher often goes to them since she lives next door, and he goes to her parties too...
Carrie Fisher is one of the smartest people in Hollywood and is, from what I've heard, extremely engaging in person and throws legendary parties... So, she should be a lot of fun.
I'm looking forward to it.

Hey this is great news, now all we need is George Lucas to direct the 100th episode.
Carrie Fisher will be able to pull that part off brilliantly.
Has anyone read the thread at ksite about Dreamwatch printing that Season 5 is the last. I think Dreamwatch is a European magazine? Can someone confirm it. They're going out on a limb printing that considering WB hasnt announced anything.
Triplet, the guy you're refering to in Forever, is that Allison Mack's fiancee? I thought he was a guitarist for some rock band. Its amazing what makeup and wardrobe can do.

SPACE Channel Correction
We have received many e-mails from fans in Canada alerting us that the SPACE channel is advertising Smallville Season Five as "the fifth and final season."
This information is incorrect. The Smallville team hopes to go six and possibly seven seasons, so where SPACE got the "final year" thing from we do not know.
Should a decision be made that Season Five will be the show's last, the WB would be the one issuing such a statement. As they have not, rest assured the show's in good hands. (Though it wouldn't hurt you all here in the States to tune in on Thursday nights, especially if you have a Nielsen box!)
Is not from the magazine but it says the fifth season wont be the last. its also mentioned in the Jeph Loeb interview I posted in the previous page:
KryptonSite Interview: Jeph Loeb Talks About His Smallville DepartureHe's long been associated with Superman through his comic book work, and joined the Smallville team at the beginning of Season 2.
Photo at the top of this article taken by Darren Swimmer

Jeph Loeb, being there for three seasons, would have steered that writer's room in the right direction. And as Triplet has said, Al & Miles are the driving force and I'm sure they are well aware of how faithful they should be to the characters.
Tom Welling made an interesting comment in the ABC Family special, that they (the show Smallville) had a fan base out there who demand that the characters of Smallville live up to their expectations of who these characters are. And that this demand sets up for a high quality product.

Episode 6 stands to be the greatest episode of the entire series if things go unchanged. Episode 6 would be the Tom Wopat episode.

E! Online's Watch With Kristin (http://fcx(this.href);/) has posted an interview with actor James Marsters (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) about his upcoming role in Season Five of Smallville."It's so cool. I mean, I'm very excited about Smallville," Marsters said to E!'s Kristin Veitch. "God, I had the best dinner with [executive producer] Al Gough, and granted, he was trying to seduce me into signing a contract with him, but I was struck with how normal he was, how down-to-earth and how much we talked about our families, and then about art. He was interesting on a number of subjects, and I think he's got a good mind. I like his brain with the Superman mythology. You know, [Smallville] is a coming-of-age drama again, like Buffy, and those are fabulous, because we're all coming of age constantly. I'm always trying to grow up, so you know, that story never gets old for anybody. 'Become yourself.' When are you not gonna need to hear that? And so, I love that."
Marsters revealed when his first episode will air, and what kind of accent he will be sporting this time around.

She's written a lot uncredited as a script doctor, but probably her biggest film was based on her novel "Postcards From the Edge"... it was autobiographical on her life as a recovering addict while trying to work in Hollywood.
Great film and brilliant writing.

Picking James' Brain: In case you've been living under a rock and James' fans don't yet have your mailing address, you should know that James Marsters has been cast as Clark Kent's (Tom Welling) new nemesis on Smallville in the coming season. His name? Brainiac, which is quite fitting for the man I still contend to be one of the smartest in Hollywood, a man who throws around words like verisimilitude. That said, it seems best to not let my nonsensical blathering get in the way of his words and just give it to you straight up Q&A style.
You know the fans are flipping out about you being on Smallville, right?
Yeah, and holy crap! It's so cool. I mean, I'm very excited about Smallville. God, I had the best dinner with [executive producer] Al Gough, and granted, he was trying to seduce me into signing a contract with him, but I was struck with how normal he was, how down-to-earth and how much we talked about our families, and then about art. You're gonna have a completely different look than we've seen on Buffy. A tan, darker hair, no British accent. Do you ever slip back into the accent?
No. When I first got the role, I did all the time, but I don't, no. I'm so happy just to be brown-headed James, like, 'Oh, hi!' I hope people like my American accent.
Now, your character is a college professor named Dr. Fine who transforms into Brainiac, right? So, are you starting off as Dr. Fine? Will we see that transformation?
You're gonna see it very early, and that's all I know. I think I'm gonna start as something almost unrecognizable and become Dr. Fine. You'll see me in the very first episode.

So, Marsters starts out as something unrecognizable in the first episode? Think he might have arrived with the other ship?
And Al saying "The article says that the characters' new college life will open up the storytelling and let them "get into some stories with more adult themes. Bigger themes. Even Superman themes."
Sounding good so far...

Me too. I hope the scene where Clark dies, is a real tear jerker. And Beaman says when he gets his powers back, is gonna be super cool.
Anyone know when we should start seeing trailers?

I think it would be possible that what he means by we won't know. Is he won't have a line of dialouge, well possibly one. And all we see is a click shot of Clark in the class room talking to one of the other students before heading out. That way we don't know that he is a new central character, just a "cameo" appearance. Small role in the first episode to be the "extra" professor. But, I think that's what he meant by he won't be distinguished as a character. Just Professor. In a latter episode we will find out that he is Dr. Fine and will play a larger role in the series. Possibly just a walk by appearance walking through the halls of the university.

Preview sinopsys fo season 5 at thewb.com. All new spoilers:
Fourteen years ago, a meteor shower burst from the heavens, raining destruction on the unsuspecting citizens of Smallville, Kansas. The intervening years have left the towns inhabitants with scars and secrets. From the ashes of tragedy, Clark Kent has grown into an awkward teen. While adolescence always brings its challenges, Clark's transition from boyhood to manhood has been particularly difficult. He has struggled to come to grips with his emerging superpowers - and the effects of various forms of kryptonite - while battling the strange things that have plagued this idyllic Midwest hamlet since the meteor shower.
In last season's finale, Clark, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Chloe (Allison Mack) graduated from high school but the day was less then celebratory after the military called for a forced evacuation of the town due to an impending meteor shower. Searching for answers, Clark once again turned to Jor-El and was told the only way to stop the impending disaster was to unite the three sacred crystals. After stealing the last one from Lex (Michael Rosenbaum), Clark brought all three together in the cave and immediately disappeared into a vortex that brought him to the arctic tundra. As season five begins, Clark unlocks the Fortress of Solitude and is given a new challenge by Jor-El. Desperate to return to Smallville, Clark makes a promise to his biological father that will soon come back to haunt him.
The guardians of Clark's secret identity have always been his adoptive parents, Jonathan (John Schneider, The Dukes of Hazzard) and Martha Kent (Annette O'Toole). However, this year, Clark learns that Chloe also knows his secret. After finding him in the Fortress of Solitude, Chloe admits to knowing about his powers and the two join up to fight injustice. While one part of Clark is thrilled to have someone to talk to about his powers, another remembers what happened with Pete and fears the same fate for Chloe. Meanwhile, Chloe joins the Daily Planet as an intern, which provides her with new resources to help Clark.
With Clark in college now, Jonathan and Martha are able to finally pursue their own lives. While Martha continues to run the Talon, Jonathan gets a visit from an old friend (Tom Wopat, The Dukes of Hazzard) who convinces him to run for mayor against Lex. An enthusiastic Lois Lane (Erica Durance) jumps on the bandwagon and immediately takes over as Jonathan's campaign manager. On board to save his town from the Luthors, Jonathan also knows this sudden spotlight could be dangerous to Clark, as his past will become public record.
Clark and Lana finally surrender to their long unrequited love and consummate their relationship after declaring their love for each other. Happy in love, but feeling the need for something more, Lana begins to explore her options outside of Smallville. Originally intending to skip college for a year, Lana rethinks her decision once she sees Chloe and Clark leave for school. After promising things won't change between them, Lana leaves Clark behind and heads off to live in Metropolis with Chloe, making it a struggle to beat the odds and stay together.
Over the years, Clark has forged a remarkable relationship with Lex Luthor though neither has an inkling of how their destinies will ultimately collide. Lex has constantly fought his destiny and turn to the dark side. This year he loses that battle. The Lex Luthor of comic lore has arrived and this season Clark and Lex become mortal enemies.
The arrival of DC Comic villain Milton Fine, aka Brainiac (James Marsters, Angel), exacerbates the situation between Clark and Lex. Fine recruits Clark to be his research assistant and provides him with top-secret information about Lex's immoral Luthorcorp experiments. His arrival on Earth was no accident. Fine was born out of the spaceship that landed after the meteor shower. Who sent him and why proves to be a life-altering revelation for Clark as he finally learns why he was sent to Earth and what happened to his biological parents and home planet.
Clark comes face to face with another DC Comic hero this season. Aquaman swims into Smallville, and into Lois' heart, after saving her from drowning. After witnessing one of Lex's experiments cause irreparable harm to the marine life, AC, a young man with special powers, uses Lois' military connections to save the ocean and all its inhabitants by destroying Lex's secret underwater lab. Wanting Clark to join him in stopping Luthorcorp, AC shows Clark proof of Lex's wrongdoings, which sends Clark reeling.
Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, Smallville was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar (Shanghai Noon, Spiderman 2), based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive producers, along with Greg Beeman, Ken Horton, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins and Joe Davola. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. SUPERMAN was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.

The ones that make me go
Desperate to return to Smallville, Clark makes a promise to his biological father that will soon come back to haunt him.
Very intriguing. He must promise himself to Jor-El somehow.
Jonathan gets a visit from an old friend (Tom Wopat, The Dukes of Hazzard) who convinces him to run for mayor against Lex.
Mayor Jonathan? A bit of a stressful job for guy with a bum ticker, eh? ;)
The Lex Luthor of comic lore has arrived and this season Clark and Lex become mortal enemies.
Finally!:) And sadly. :(
Clark and Lana finally surrender to their long unrequited love and consummate their relationship after declaring their love for each other.
The beginning of the end... *sniff*
"Consummate?" I'm curious if they used that word intentionally. Teases.
His arrival on Earth was no accident. Fine was born out of the spaceship that landed after the meteor shower. Who sent him and why proves to be a life-altering revelation for Clark as he finally learns why he was sent to Earth and what happened to his biological parents and home planet.
I'm, perhaps optimistically, sensing Krypton flashback scenes... Ep. 100 maybe?
Is it Sept. 29th yet???

Overall I think this is going to be a great SUPER season, and I'm happy however their are some good stuff I like here, and some bad.
The Good,
Now beginning its fifth season on The WB, this new interpretation of the enduring Superman mythology and its classic characters blends realism and adventure into an exciting action series. This is the season that changes everything. Clark Kent (Tom Welling) finally begins to accept his destiny and takes giants leaps towards becoming the Man of Steel.
IT'S ABOUT TIME damnit :supes:
In last season's finale, Clark, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Chloe (Allison Mack) graduated from high school but the day was less then celebratory after the military called for a forced evacuation of the town due to an impending meteor shower. Searching for answers, Clark once again turned to Jor-El and was told the only way to stop the impending disaster was to unite the three sacred crystals. Sweet The FOS, I'll bet that promise has something to do with Clark's being a mortal (for two episodes.)
I'm happy for Chloe however I think now it's offical {Her fate is sealed} (1)she will die (protecting Clark's secret.) (2)She is either lose her memory about Clark's secret. (3)Leave smallville for good and move to Metropolis or mabye Gotham City.
Mayor against Lex, sounds like forshadowing of the Future. Lois Lane campaign manager. sounds like this might push Lois into Journalism.
YES, It's about time.
Awesome, The truth about Krypton (Destiny Revealed. FINALLY after 4 years Clark's going to find out the truth about his origin & his destiny to become SUPERMAN.
Sounds like their using a part from STAS with Lex's secret underwater lab, cool. Clark's in for a shock , If he thought Lionel was bad, wait till he finds out Lex is worst than his father.

The BAD
Clark and Lana finally surrender to their long unrequited love and consummate their relationship after declaring their love for each other. Happy in love, but feeling the need for something more, Lana begins to explore her options outside of Smallville. Originally intending to skip college for a year, Lana rethinks her decision once she sees Chloe and Clark leave for school. Ah for love of Pete, not more Clana , I hope this is the last season of this relationship, I'm tried of this garbage relationship between them. From season 1 this relationship has been crap , each season this relationship get's worst and worst. (The sooner Clark Leave's smallville to become SUPERMAN the better.) Then finally The BS relationship will be finally over. And Clark can find "True Love" when he meet's Lois Lane again as an adult reporter working for The Daily Planet.
