Teaser Trailer Ideas

Here's mine:

It is the middle of the night on 16th street in downtown (random city). A bunch of rowdy teenagers in a souped up Acura pull up to the left of a Subaru WRX at a red light. The Subaru's windows are tinted so the teenagers cannot see the driver. The teens shout out their window,

"Hey you!! Let's do this!! Your car ain't got nothing under that hood!"

Both cars rev their engines and wait impatiently for the light to turn green. GREENLIGHT...both cars BLAST forward with the power of almost 300 horses pulling each car.

Red light after greenlight after red light, both high speed machines care about traffic lights no more. They juggle the lead with only one to two feet leads.

The teenagers are getting impatient for they didn't expect the other driver to be as recklessly abandon with the law as they were.

The teens start shouting unintelligible obscenities out their window. The unknown racer only replies with a lurch forward, taking the lead by half a car length. This really pisses off the group of teens, so the driver says,

"Watch this, I'mna scare the hell outta this guy!"

The Acura then veers toward the Subaru in an attempt to fishtail the electric blue rally car.

The front driver wheel of the Subaru flips inwards in a quick flash of metal and rubber and in its place flips out a 7 foot long robotic arm. Its black alloy hand reaches back to block the potential damage the Acura is trying to inflict.

The Acura is forced to a stop while the Subaru spins around in a 180 degree turn. In the middle of the 180 degree turn the Subaru blasts itself into the sky and TRANSFORMS.

With a resounding THOOM! into the asphalt the former Subaru glares down at the teenagers in their souped up Acura and booms,

"Don't you EVER...try to scratch my paint again..."

A glance toward the Acura reveals the awe and shock in the teenagers faces.

Another quick transformation, a blast of exhaust and the Subaru races toward the screen followed by the words....(words race toward screen)

[The Question]

It's okay, but it seems a little silly. My idea:

First, we see two space ships shooting at each other and flying twords earth. We then see one of them crash.

Cut to a kid and his dad standing in front of a huge metal door. The kid touches the door. It opens. It's dark inside, but then we see two blue glowing eyes. We then see a huge fugure walking twords them from the point of view of inside the ship.

Cut to some military jets flying through the air, shooting at some cars on the groung. some chase scene clips. Some explosions. Looks like your average sci fi action movie.

Then cut to an 18 weeler careening down a dusty road in the desert with explosions going on around. It flips into the air, and we hear the clasic transformation sound as it turns into Optimus Prime.

We see a red and blue big rig truck careening down the road. Its swerveing and manuvering. There are huge explosions all around, and It's being shot at by planes. Then the truck flips up into the air, and we hear the classic transformation sound as it turns into optimus Prime. OP lans on the ground in a squated position, stands up, and ponts his guns at the planes.

all it should be for a TEASER is just a flash of the autobot logo then a flash of the decepticon logo.. then . words appear on screen those words being.... Transform and roll out... then have the release date and website like every other teaser

There have been teaser trailers that had more substance than that. The Batman Begins trailer showed a lot more than just the logo and release date.

Teaser...hmmm...

Show a cityscape. And Zoom down to the streets.
Then several quick explosions and a few cars fly into the air. People Running.
Cut to see some massive robot (Prime) stepping over the camera as the camera shoots from way low/ground level. Camera turns and raises, the robot quickly ducks behind a building as an explosion hits the edge of the building, making it as though you barely see him.

Cut to black screen...que Logo.

Show a big red truck barrelling down the highway.
It jumps forward and transforms, fliping and rolling over along the ground and stands up. Turns to face the camera, Camera quickly zooms in to his eyes.

I like this one. It would be nice if the audience didn't know it was going to be a trailer for a movie. And with this it might seem like a truck commercial or something. Then all of a sudden you see him transform and the audience can go, "Awww sh**! Hell YEAH!"

Wow. That is so awesom! But......wait......there's just something about it. Oh. I know. It sounds an awful lot like...

yeah, but without the explosions and stuff. i like the just driving down the road thing so that the audience doesn't know what's going on yet. it seems so normal until you see him transform. anyway, i don't see why my idea was so yuchh. i mean, people will think its just another stupid fast and furious movie, then BAM they see the transformation. Surprize, surprize, surprize.

The best teaser, in my opinion, are the subtle ones where you don't know what the movie is or is about until the VERY end of the teaser. The first HULK teaser was VERY good in this regard.

and I don't think there should be ANY transforming at ALL in the first teaser. save the transforming for the official Full Trailer.

so with that in mind here is my attempt:

Flash Studio Logos.

Cut to Mid-Day on a Desert Road in the middle of nowhere, seen from a LONG distance, with VERY faint, unrecognizable music playing.

Bring the view a bit closer, focusing on a lone tractor-trailer traveling along the road. music is a bit louder, but still unrecognizable.

Zoom in, to the rear of the tractor-trailer.

The Camera begins "examining" this tractor-trailer from all angles, gradually switching viewpoints faster, while not showing the front of the trailer. The music gets gradually louder as this is happening, but not quite recognizable yet.

The Camera STOPS, on the side of the Trailer, and begins to SLOWLY move towards the front of the truck. As you pass the Cab of the tractor-trailer, you notice that no one is driving the truck. the music also begins to come into focus, and it is the Transformers G1 Theme Song(with no words).

The Camera swings around to the FRONT of the Cab, and you see the Autobot Logo on the Grill of the Truck.

The Truck drives straight into the screen, leaving a super-imposed Autobot Logo on a Black Screen.

Above the logo, the words "More than Meets the Eye" fade in.

a second later, "2007" fades in, BELOW the Logo.

Both sets of words fly off the screen at the same time, and the Autobot Logo flips into the Decepticon Logo, with the appropriate sound(you know the one I am talking about) and flies straight into the screen, leaving.....

FADE TO BLACK.

Ok, so everybody needs to have Optimus in the trailer. That's cool. How bout this then:

You got a family of 4 driving cross crountry in some random desert hills. They're all talking have fun and playing games.

They come within an 18 wheeler so the father merges to the left lane to pass the tractor trailer. The kids start getting excited because every truck they've passed they've gotten it to honk at them by making the motion with their arms of a driver honking his horn. So when they start pulling up to see the driver they are motioning like crazy for him to honk his horn but...there is NO driver.

The father is so shocked to see no driver that he doesn't see the pothole in the road. Going 80 miles an hour he smashes right in the middle of it, his tire bursting from the impact. He careens toward the tractor trailer, barely missing it he then swerves toward the steep side of the highway where the car has only the rails to prevent them from going down the hill.

Right before they hit the rails you see a huge blue metallic hand reach out for the front of the car. The father stretches his neck to see that it is attached to an enormous red arm stemming from the 18 wheeler. The 18 wheeler, still holding onto the front of the car, guides the family of four to the shoulder of the road. The huge metallic arm then assembles itself back into the 18 wheeler and keeps on truckin down the road.

A bewildered family stares at each other in disbelief. The father leans over the steering wheel desperately trying to get a view of the license plate. Camera zooms to license plate that reads: PRIME1. -> Black screen:

It would be cool if they fool you into thinking its an artsy car commercial, then WOKKA WOKKA WOKKA the car turns inside out, and then fade to black.

Here is my idea for the Transformers teaser trailer.



Black screen, sound of cars zooming by in all directions (courtesy of surround sound) and planes soaring, all still in the black screen. All noise suddenly stops, and we hear the famous TRANSFORMERS TRANSFORMATION sound, immediately followed by the decepticon and autobot logos coming from both sides to meet in the middle with 2007 underneath.



nothing big, but any true fan would know EXACTLY what it meant.

YE YEAH!

Great idea...but I don't think the studio would go for nothing but sound effects for the teaser. Needs beefing up.

He comes across a car broken down and a guy is under the hood trying to fix the engine.

Prime says, "Hey buddy, need some help?"

Guy says, "Sure, what the hell are you and what's your name?"

Prime replies, "I am OPTIMUS PRIME, LEADER OF THE AUTOBOTS. We are TRANSFORMERS!! What's your name?"

Guy says, "Di Bonaventoorunnydiahrea"

Prime...*SQUISH*

The Autobot leader then proceeds to the nearest street curb to wipe the mess off of the bottom of his foot.

We open with a long-distance shot of the International Space Station orbiting Earth. We focus on a NASA astronaut in his spacesuit doing repairs on the outside of the station. We hear him talking sh** to his buddies inside the station, and cut to some guys in those quaint blue jumpsuits roaming around in zero-gravity. Over their discussion, we hear a radio broadcast from Earth - a news item about growing hysteria and reported sightings of 'giant robots' - and then we see the astronaut outside turn away to grab another tool...

Close up of his faceplate as he notices something - we see a reflection of it in his helmet - as he whispers 'What the hell...?!?' over the growing rumble of a jet engine. Then...

BLAM!!! The rig he's standing on explodes, solar foils and whatnot flying in twenty different directions as the poor guy just starts tumbling helplessly off into space. Back on the ISS, some schmuck looks out one of the portholes and we see the reflection of three jet fighters roaring away, even hearing a familiar high-pitched cackle as they tear off back toward Earth.

Meanwhile, the astronaut drifting aimlessly into space is screaming for someone to help him and suddenly jerks to a stop when he hits some big blue metal-looking thing, which then arcs down so that he can stand on it. He's blubbering 'Thank God, thank...', then looks up and notices he's staring into the grill of a Kenworth Freightliner.

Camera pans off him as he stands up, looking back down to see that he's standing on a giant blue hand. He looks back up, at the camera...

From the chest up we see Optimus Prime, the dumbfounded astronaut still standing on his hand as Optimus says 'Greetings.'

Camera whips back real fast, zooming out to reveal that Optimus is standing in an open airlock on the Ark, which we then see in its entirety, dwarfing the ISS...

The zoom back zips into a flash of light, which morphs into the words THINGS CHANGE THIS SUMMER.

(Assuming the cameras start rolling in time to make the current 2007 release date :rolleyes:, odds are the first true trailer wouldn't show up till the previous fall or winter.)

I'm bumping this thread so we can have something to talk about. Any new ideas now that we have a decent idea of what Bay's vision might be for this flick? I'll have one up later.

Calm, serene landscape. We see a meteor falling from the sky over a lush green forest and explode onto a mountain. The camera pans slightly, we see strange creatures and realize that we're on prehistoric Earth. In the background we hear a looming mechanical sound accompanied by earth-shaking stomps quickly getting louder- closer! Suddenly, a huge metallic foot crashes into view--

We quickly zoom to modern times. We see shots of busy highways, traffic jams, smog. People in cities doing the daily grind.

"There are things stranger in heaven and earth, than we've ever dreamt of."
(either spoken or superimposed on the screen a la SM trailers)
(BTW, literature-minded folks will get the paraphrase)

We see a volcano rumble and partially erupt. It's obviously the same volcano. The camera pans back from a giant crevice on the side of the volcano. Metallic, strange, machinery is clearly visible.

"They've been with us since the dawn of time."

We see a quick shot of a motley convoy of vehicles- travelling down an otherwise empty highway-- with a truck leading the pack (wink to the fans).

"They hide among us.
But, now (dramatic pause) there's no hiding from them."

Various quickly edited shots of action-- jets flying, explosions, car chases, military combat, Sam kissing the girl, etc-- climaxing with a shot of Sam staring at something. What is it? We hear the classic transformation sound (or some dramatic, updated, variation of it)... and now Sam slowly looking up-- giving the impression that he's looking at something VERY big.

"Their war. Our world."

Same transforming logo as in the teaser.

P.S.
This need not contradict the first teaser... which easily could have been about Decepticons warping to Earth in response to detecting the Ark's activation (after looking for the longest time).

I like that CFlash, the Ark stuff could easily be in this tesaer trailer, and not in the movie [provided the writers did not write it in]. It could however still be considered cannon for the seqels. Good job, I started to get goosebumps. Wanna see a close up of robot face though. :yay:

I have great ideas for both the teaser and the preview trailer, but for now I'll just do the teaser.

First part the camera view pans around the desert, then we here a soldier say "where that come from" pointing to an incoming Blackout in vehicle mode.

Then we see old version of BB scream past the screen without a driver, sam stands back in suprise of the absent driver.

We hear scientists talking about some project relating to the all spark with the camera slowly zooming in on Frenzy in his stereo mode at the pentagon.

Then we go back to the desert where soldiers are firing on something (Scorponok) in a dust cloud yelling "we are in some serious s***".

Then back to a warehouse at night time where we see the shadow of BB walking to release a becon to the other auto bots.

*Darkness* voice - "They are coming"

Flashes of orbs falling toward earth.

Sam Witwickey slowly stepping backwards as the camera starts to rise over him with a voice "Sam Witwicky, grandson of Archibald Witwicky?" Sam- "Y y yyes!" The back of a blueheaded robot lowers saying "I am Optimus Prime"

*Darkness*

Camera zooms out of the earth like the first teaser with the transformers name transforming followed by the date, then the Autobot logo.

What we are proubly gona see is nothing. The Trailer will show scenes of space and words will fly around the screen. The only fan thing we will hear is Autobots, Transform and Roll out. Then TRANSFORMERS 747.

CFlash, really cool premise. I can just feel the mood of the entire teaser from your description. Very cool indeed.

Avan, I like the last part with prime sans the archibald witwicky dialogue. But its not enough action in it to get me excited like a teaser trailer should *insert lame attempt at shh innuendo here*. And I don't want to see ANY Skorponok crap...I get enough Starship Troopers vibe from that one pic...imagine a whole teaser full of it.

LOL!!! 1 year old ricer fantasy. I like the 50's racing slang. Have you ever raced? I'll give you one thing, the punk kids driving imports are annoying as hell and it is a Michael Bay, so the lingo and drama will be a little, okay, very cheezy.

Its meant to be a teaser that looks like any other "Fast and Furious" crap but is actually something else...more than meets the eye. Obviously you didn't get it and chose to be an ass about it...congrats on that.

Steam is slowly dissapating from around the shining, yet slightly dented, feet of the monolith as we hear a metallic voice say from the robot, "Samuel James Witwicky?" Sam studders and sweats as he replies, "Uh-huh?" It pans out to show Optimus Prime in half darkness, his face and shoulders are visible. The robot states in a commanding and confident voice, making shudders of surrounding homes and Sam himself tremble, "I am Optimus Prime."

Cut to black.

Alone trumpet is heard playing the TF theme as the words, "On 7-4-7 Things will Change," appear in metallic writing on screen.

Applause from the audience ensues.

This is great and would've been great if it was released instead of Bay's joke of a Transformer/Mars teaser...but I think the teaser coming out this winter should have a considerable amount of action to wet people's appetites instead of just rousing curiosity.

Agreed, although I did like the announcement teaser, I can't wait to check out this new teaser.
