TRI-SENTINEL VS. RADIOACTIVE MAN
However, as stated, the Sentinel has shielding as well both inside and outside. Even if RM could penetrate the outer shields to do some serious damage to the unit, he would still need to contend with the inner shield. Even if his resistance to blasts could help, all it would take is a well placed strike to send him flying off the edge of the carrier and plummeting to the ground below. Of all his skills, RM CAN'T fly. Plus, since the Sentinel was designed to take out a nuclear plant, it only stands to reason that it has something useful against one on board, which could literally make or break RM in the fight. One last handicap; if we're talking about RM the good guy, he would have a regard for human life that the Sentinel won't, meaning he would try to keep SHIELD safe while the Sentinel would blast no questions asked.
WINNER: TRI-SENTINEL

WINNER: TRI-SENTINEL
And, while the Tri-Sentinel might be designed to take out a nuclear plant...well, a nuclear plant can't really move or fight back. And, if the S-Man can get through Tri's shielding, Radioactive Man truly won't have a problem.
Winner: Radioactive Man

I totally forgot I had this match! Anyway, Selene is a very powerful Immortal, and unless Agatha uses her baby-sitting skills against her, there really is no match-up. Agatha does have magic on her side, but so does Selene. Plus, with Selene's telepathy and telekinesis, she'd just take control of the old hag and then drain all energy from her old, withered body. One less babysitter to worry about.

vs.
Black Panther (WOLVERINE)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a330/HypsterJB/TChalla.jpg
Decent match up. Both are expert hand-to-hand combatants; both have beaten Captain America in a physical fight. Both are expert planners and battle strategist, though I'd give Kang the edge there as his would be more honed due to his never ending conquest; he's conquered thousands upon thousands of worlds through many different dimensions and timelines. Both have excellent resources at their disposal; BP with the the Wakandan tech (which is ahead of it's time), Avenger resources, and the Vibranium mines. And Kang with tech from the 30th and 40th centuries as well as other resources spanning his colossal, time and dimension spanning empire.
If it came down to a straight up, physical confrontation I'd say it could go either way, but that would not happen. Kang has the tech advantage, as well as the resource one (there's pretty much nothing T'Challa could get that Kang couldn't get himself, including Vibranium).
Speaking about his tech, Kang's battle armor is filled with future tech that would make Doom green with envy.
He's got anti-matter shields, can loose powerful blasts of energy, a cobalt energy glove (powerful enough to bring Thor to his knees), a sub-space transporter, energy shields (powerful enough to stop attacks from the likes of Thor and Iron Man), the ability to call forth any weapon from history via his trans-temporal armory, able to create time bubbles to either slow/stop time or keep time flowing naturally, and various other abilities.
Not that he'd need them against T'Challa, but throw in his chief servants, the Growing Man, Timespinner, and the Macrobots, and Panther is out matched.

War Machine (SPARTA)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a330/HypsterJB/WarMachine.jpg
vs.
Count Neferia (BLAZE)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a330/HypsterJB/CountNefaria.jpg
War Machine is skilled, but not really a match for Nefaria, who's basically an evil Superman. Hell, even Iron Man isn't really a match for the Count, though, with Tony's great intellect during the preptime, he'd have a damn good chance. But, this isn't Tony Stark, this is Jim Rhodes. And Rhodey is nowhere near the tech genius that Stark is. Nefaria can go toe-to-toe with the likes of Thor and the Hulk. There's not a lot of stuff War Machine could throw at him that he wouldn't be able to take in stride. Well, maybe save a nuke or the like. But, that'd be completely out of character for Rhodes though to use something like that, especially in Westchester, NY.
War Machine's best tactics would be hit and run, using the X-mansion's closed quarters to his advantage. That way the small rooms and narrow hallways would halfway keep the Count from truly utilizing his speed advantage.
But, eventually the Count would tire of this and just level the entire mansion, use his superior speed and reflexes to grab War Machine, and rip his armor right off of him. With his armor gone he'd be easy pickings for the more powerful Count. A quick blast of laser vision and Rhodey's head goes bye-bye.

KANG VS. BLACK PANTHER
Kang has the advantage of centuries of information at his fingertips. However, the future is not written, it can be changed. Panther is a cunning cuss, taking down opponents he should have no right to take down. He's taken on most of the Avengers and won. He's taken on the Fantastic Four and won. He has also taken on Kang and won. And if there's one thing history has taught us, it's that it repeats.
Despite Kang's ability to pull weapons from other centuries, Panther is not without his own gadgets to counter them. His vibranium enchancement and corrosive chemicals make his ability to be stealthy, take a shot and disarm Kang extremely high and effective. Utilizing the location, what would it take for Panther's firm grasp on technology to turn the mansion against Kang, distracting him long enough to get in for the kill? Or, more importantly, disable the device that controls his shielding. Kang's greatest asset is his futuristic technology; Panther's is his own body and mind.
Kang may be powerful and may be able to traverse time, but he's not unstoppable. And if anyone could find a way to stop Kang, it would be Panther.

Jessica Jones vs Lady Deathstrike
In the prep-time, being partly cyborg, she can hook up to any external computer and research/hack Jessica Jones and find out every detail, weakness, strength and habits that would help Deathstrike in the match.
MATCH
Well here we have two very strong women characters with mutually impressive abilities and strengths. However Deathstrike's abilities far outnumber those of Jessica. Both have superstrength, Jessica has flight, but in the mansion that would not help her as it would be difficult to maneuver. Deathstrike has augmented speed, reflexes, endurance and agility, she also is an expert in Martial Arts and hand to hand combat, she also is skilled with weaponry and uses her blaster and other arsenal at her disposal.
As well, because she is part cyborg she can interface to any external computer system, and being in the X-mansion would highly benefit her as she could take control of the mansion's defences and have them take care of Jessica itself. Her skeleton is also laced with adamantium (the same as wolverine) which makes her bones indestructible.
The last thing that benefits Deathstrike is her recognizable one-foot-long Adamantium claws which extend to two feet. All that Deathstrike has to do is get close enough and slice through Jessica, ending the match. Although Jessica has a high resistance to injury she is not indestructible (unlike adamantium), and she can not regrow her head if it's chopped off. Even if Jessica used a weapon (ie a sword) that she found in the mansion, Deathstrike's claws(like wolverine's) would slice right through it and anything else in it's path.
This match is one sided, as Jessica is a great character but is overwhelmed in this matchup and location.
WINNER LADY DEATHSTRIKE

Kang may be powerful and may be able to traverse time, but he's not unstoppable. And if anyone could find a way to stop Kang, it would be Panther.
WINNER: BLACK PANTHER When did Kang fight Black Panther?
Anyway, Kang's beaten the Avengers and the Fantastic Four as well. Not to mention the likes of Thor, and even the arch-wizard Merlin.
How would he be able to disarm Kang? Kang's no fool. He's not just going to be walking around the mansion with no defenses up and allow Panther to sneak up on him. He's every much the warrior T'Challa is. He would never do something as stupid as to be caught with his pants down, figuratively speaking.
As for taking over the technological systems of the mansion, that actually sounds like something Kang would do. He is one of the greatest strategists in the MU after all. With his genius and the tech at his disposal, it'd be child's play to break into the X-Men's systems. Not to mention take control of all the systems from the Panther if he managed to get to them first.
How would he be able to get to the device, let alone shut it off, that controls his shielding?
The shields are apart of his armor, and that'd be pretty much impossible for the Panther, or anyone to shut down in the middle of a fight.
As for his greatest asset, it definitely is not his advanced technology. Though that plays a major part of his conquests, the thing that plays the larger role, and is his greatest asset, is his intelligence and his exceptional tactical skills; he is one of the greatest planners and battlefield generals in the MU.

I just recanted every way Kang has been defeated before, and there's no doubt Panther could do any one of them because I'd put him up to Batman level planning. Maybe beyond. And that's like 23 steps ahead of any situation.
Johnny Blaze
09-03-2005, 11:35 AM
It's already been said that the reason Kang loses to the Avengers is because he has too much respect for them as warriors to kill them outright. And he's had many, many chances to kill them through the years since his inception, but his respect for them always gets the better of Kang. Black Panther does not have the Avengers to get his back in this one, and I never heard of T'Challa taking on Kang himself and winning.
At the very least, Kang is T'Challa's equal in the planning department, not to mention he's just as skilled a warrior as the Wakandan Monarch. Straight up hand-to-hand fight between the two, it's push; could go either way. But, with his highly advanced tech and the resources of his empire that spans thousands upon thousands of worlds in a myriad dimensions and timelines, Kang's got a major advantage on T'Challa.

vs.
Count Neferia (BLAZE)
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a330/HypsterJB/CountNefaria.jpg
Its definatley true that Nefaria is strong but he does have weaknesses that War Machine could exploit in his prep time. He is very vulnerable to certain types of radiation and ionic energies, now if War Machine took his prep time to fabricate a very powerful weapon targeted directly on Nefarias weakness it could take him out with one shot. Count Nefaria most also drain ionic energy from others to stay alive, so he would get progressively weaker and weaker leaving him open and vulnerable to attack.
WINNER: WAR MACHINE!!
Johnny Blaze
09-04-2005, 09:45 AM
Well, finding a machine from Stark's place that can duplicate the specific type of radiation/energy that Nefaria is suceptable to, I can see him possibly doing, but I can't rightly see Rhodey making one up; he's no where near on the level of a scientific/technical genius like Stark is after all.
As for Nefaria getting weaker as the match goes on, the match would be over way before the Count has to worry about that. Either Rhodes would employ something he found from Stark's lab during preptime, or Nefaria would use the speed and strength advantage he has over War Machine and crush him in his own armor like it was a tin can.

Are we able to use prep time to ask friends for assistance? i.e. Rhodey going to Tony, since Rhodey has gone to him in the past. Don't know if we determined whether this was alright or not.

Proctor vs. Magik - Illyana
This is one hell of a matchup. Some of their powers seem to overlap. Both are very very well trained. Both use virtually indestructable blades. Great matchup.
But Proctor has the advantage of experience in battling to the death. He has made it his mission in life to kill every Sersi in the Multiverse. And he's damn good at it. It's worth saying again. This guy can take out Sersi's! One of the more powerful of the Eternals.
This would be one battle worth seeing. But, in the end, Proctor would win out.

Well if you do like that guy did in the Black Cat The Evil That Men Do series,.. have a teleporter teleport small amounts of alcohol into his system constantly until it begins to affect him. The guy in that comic use to teleport drugs into people until either they overdosed or until they were to the point he could take advantage of them. I see your point but JH you should know better than anyone that 1. None of your characters are facing Iron Man anytime soon. 2. Do you have a teleporter in your character roster? 3. What are the chances that if you did have a Teleporter that it was going to face Iron Man in the tournament? Now because of this, wouldn't it seem that you are attempting to gain up on me by giving someone else this idea? ;)
BTW Iron Man's identity as Tony Stark is still secret to my knowledge. I thought people (except for a few close friends) thought Iron Man is Tony's body guard.

Plus, Tony's identity was just revealed, right, and now they act as if nobody knows again. Seriously, Iron Man is one of the most messed up characters in terms of continuity that Marvel has...why couldn't they get rid of his crappy comic and keep Thor?

Jaine Cutter vs. Ulik
Ulik is tough. Very tough. But Jaine is no sluch, and, with her second skin out, she's near invulnarable. It would be a good fight, but there are lots of ways for Jaine to take this. Her claws alone could gut Ulik. They can cut through damn near anything, and even a few lucky glancing blows would have their effect on him.
She's also got that nice weapon of hers that would not only warn her if Ulik tried a surprise attack, but the ammo would track Ulik regardless of the ways he tried to evade the attacks.
With all the tricks up her sleve, Jaine would take this fight, sit back with a couple of cold ones, and smoke a pack in celebration.

Polaris Vs. Green Goblin (Harry)
Well anything from GG 'bag of tricks' will be basically useless against Polaris such as grenades or bombs as they all have metal in them and wont be able to get close to her. If anything she could explode them on Harry. Then there is his glider with metal everywere. Magnetically locking GG in the stirups Polaris could just run him into the side of the building and there would be nothing Harry could do. If its even needed there's all the metal around the bugle from the metal on a pencil which she could shoot at him with great force to anything as large as a sattalite on the roof (ok i dont know if they actually have one but you get the point) or if that gets boring just use any of the iron in the blood for example reversing it and i haven't even mentioned any of her defenses but GG wont be able to get to the point where Lorna has to even think about that.

Her claws can cut through th' bones o' angels. No doubt they could handle an Asguardian troll. Plus she's resistant to injury. Geeze, I only glanced at her bio an' could tell ya she could at least put up a fight. Just takes some imagination is all. ;-)

Her claws can cut through anything. They're made of Styx Iron, just like her skin. Her Styx Iron skin in impervious to harm; she can take some impressive damage and get back up, though her head isn't covered in the Styx Iron. Her vital organs, such as her brain, are encased in Styx Iron though. She once had a mystical blade imbedded into her skull, got back up a minute later and carved the demon who did the imbedding up. Afterward, all she said she suffered from was a headache.

Little more about Jaine. Her second skin is virtually indestructible. So any attack Ulik pulls will probably do no damage. And her claws can cut through almost anything (like the bones of angels), not to mention Ulik's hide. So if Ulik tries a close attack, she's trained and can cut him a new one. If Ulik goes for a distance attack, she's got that nice breathing gun to warn her of danger (think spidey-sense). And its ammo (ammo that can kill demons) will track Ulik down once it's fired, even if he tries to run.
With that said...

This weeks location is going to be at....
Castle Doom (I had to make sure Dr Doom wasn't fighting this week though...that would be TOO much of an advantage...)
Castle Doom is of course the headquarters of Doctor Doom. A huge 110-room castle built in the 16th Century by the Latverian nobleman Count Sabbat, which overlooks the Latverian capital of Doomstadt. The castle contains Doom's living quarters, his many laboratories, his art museum, his robot factory, and his prisons, among its many rooms. There will be no involvement or presence of any of the staff, Dr. Doom's may robots or any Doom Bots. You are free to use any of equipment that you might find or might have access to. Although do not go out of character....ie thing or wolverine would not go and find a weapon to use in a fight.

Grimm Reaper Vs Colossus
Well, I don't know much about Reaper and his bio sure doesn't make him sound all that menacing. It seems that Colossus only really has to look out for that weapon of his and not let it make contact. The thing is, Colossus is a well trained X-Man and should be able to find a way to K.O. him before really having to worry about it. Either that or he can just rip it off and flick the dude in the nose. Eh... darn lack of knowledge.
Winner - Colossus

Adam X vs. Dark Beast
While Dark Beast is devious and diabolical, in a one on one match with Adam X, he'd be hard pressed to stand a chance. With Adam X's advanced speed and use of his blades, he's slice deep into the D. Beast's fur, causing various open wounds. Then, he'd electrically charge the blood from these wounds, and that would be it for Dark Beast.
YET, Dark Beast is a scientist, and the information he'd already have accumulated with all this experience during the AOA coupled with being placed in Castle Doom just might benefit him. Plus, Adam X wouldn't be able to get the jump on D.B. because of the Beast's sense of smell. It's also very likely with his knowledge of mutants that Dark Beast would be aware of Adam X's vulnerabilities.
Winner - Jury is still out

Yeah, that bio on Williams kinda sucks. :o
The Reaper was at his A-game when he was resurrected as a zombie by his former lover in the Lethal Legion (her name escapes me at the moment), at least IMO. He wasn't a mindless brute (kept his same intelligence), and he had super-human durability and strength. He also could drain the life force of living beings with a touch from his scythe, which is how he sustained his own existance. Then you also have to factor in his impressive arsenal of weapons in his scythe (powerful energy bolts, knockout gas, stunner, blade spins to act as a helicopter and deflect projectiles, etc). His scythe is also incredibly sharp as it can cut pretty much any kind of substance. Eric is also knows a few incantations such as teleportation and illusions.
As for preptime, they'd both pretty much have knowledge on each other; Colossus being one of the most famous mutants in the world, and the Grimm Reaper being a major Avenger foe. Preptime would probably not do a whole lot for either side since neither have any real weaknesses to truly exploit.
Piotr's only real chance is to get the drop on him and speed blitz him, pounding him and not letting up until he's incapacitated; if he gives Eric time to get in a few good slices with his scythe, or utilizing the other weapons at his disposal (weapons that give the entire Avengers fits) he'll be in big, big trouble.

This week will be held on the Hydro-Base. The Hydro-Base is a sea craft disguised as a natural Island located in the Atlantic ocean. Everything will be accessible for fighting including the dock, hangars/runways, buildings, beaches, and the mountain. Magik vs Frankie Raye
Tough match for Magik, up against a plasma user who can control flames like Johnny Storm. Magik gets to close, it's the ultimate hotfoot. Her sword may offer some protection, but Magik's best bet is stealth and quick strikes.
Magik can tap into Limbo and let loose a horde of demons. If nothing else, they should provide a nice distraction. Magik can then pop in and out of Limbo, taking a few slashes at Frankie everytime she reappears.
And if all else fails, Magic can pull Frankie into Limbo to battle her on 'home' territory, or just leave Frankie there.

It's a very hard match to determine the outcome. While Franklin has unlimited potential, a child his age fighting someone as ruthless as Scalphunter has to be considered. The area to engage in a fight is very large, and would Franklin have the training yet to not get picked off by one of Scalphunter's sniper shots? Like I said, I will make my decision tomorrow; I haven't come to a conclusion about it yet.

Thunderbird (Exiles) Vs Maxam
Now both of these guys are amazingly strong and are excellent candidates to move on in the tournament,... however I think Thunderbird has the advantage. In the fight their strength will be measured against each other. In Maxam's bio I read that the infinity watch tested his strenght and he proved to be near Hulks strength. In his time with the Exiles Thunderbird went up against the Hulk and though the Hulk was winning at first, once T-bird got mad he "Hulked" up and kicked the living crap out of the Hulk.
Examples:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/JewishHobbit/Exiles-ThunderbirdVsHulk03.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/JewishHobbit/Exiles-ThunderbirdVsHulk04.jpg
And not only that but if he gets even madder he can go even more savage and even more deadly,.. like so:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/JewishHobbit/Exiles-ThunderbirdVsGalactus.jpg
So in terms of Strength,... which is Maxam's main asset,... Thunderbird can best him at any turn. The lack of space on the bridge is a disadvantage to them both and frankly I think that in this battle the bridge is going down,.. I don't know enough about Maxam but I think he's a mediocre good guy like John is,.. maybe a little less as John has a good heart. John will be at a disadvantage in that I think but in the end it wouldn't matter.

Didn't think of this before, but who better to fight against Arsenic and Old Lace, but Shanna with her experience with Dinosaurs.
BTW, I gave two bios of Shanna. Are we using new Shanna, the Cho version, or the old version. Old version says she now has cosmic powers? What's up with that?

Warpath Vs. Jack O-Lantern
This is an easy match for Warpath. Jack doesnt have very many fighting skills and the ones he does have are useless against Warpath. James Proudstar has hyper-keen senses with heightened sensory perceptions and acuity which means even though they are fighting in a wide space, Jack or any of the weapons he uses wont be able to get close to James without him knowing it and combined with his super speed and agility he can easily evade anything Jack has to offer. From there Warpath simply has to get close to Jack which wont be a problem with his power of flight and speed and from there he could knock Jack unconcious and off his glider with his super strenght. Jack O-Lantern is outmatched in every aspect of this battle.
Winner - Warpath

Stacey might have a chance if she can make contact with Charcoal and release her pheramones. She might be able to make him to sick to fight, and make him so happy, he doesn't want to fight. Either way, she'd be able to take him down.
But if Charcoal gets to...charcoal-up, then it's doubtful Stacey'd be able hurt him physically, or get her pheremones into his skin. Charcoal by an edge.

LOCATION IS WHAT YOU WANT TO KNOW
Well this week we are going to take a trip to Monster Isle!
This desolate island was used as a base by the would-be world conqueror known as The Mole Man because of the network of tunnels that ran beneath it. These tunnels led to the Earth’s core. You have access to any of the rough terrain from the mountain, beach and tunnels.
Really I don't think it would be fair to include the monsters. So there will not be any monsters that will interfere with the match, either imaginary or real.

Gamesmaster vs Lilandra
Very interesting, Gamesmaster is a great telepath but Lilandra has the Shiar Empire.
I think he'll be able to read her mind even though she's in a far away planet(he's an omnipath, a telepath so powerful that he can hear the thoughts of every being on the planet), so he'll know everything she'll plan, and just counter it with something.

I'm not actually all that familiar with the character,.. is he best known for having them or not having them? Which is the norm for the character? Whichever is the norm is how he is.
