I don't know what the reasons were. Needia posted it on another message board and she's pretty reliable. They met each other last year when they did a play together but he was living in LA while doing his tv show, so who knows? Maybe the fact that they were apart from each other for such a long time? They did go to the Lucille Lortel Awads together but that was a couple of months ago and they apparently broke up right after that.

X-Men hero Hugh Jackman and wife Deborra-lee Furness have adopted a second child together, daughter Ava Eliot. She was born July 10.

"They are very happy," Jackman's rep, John Palermo told E! News Wednesday.

Australia's Herald Sun reported earlier this week that the latest member of the Jackman clan was born in Texas, though the actor's rep did not confirm Ava's birthplace.

Jackman, 36, and Furness, 45, adopted a son, Oscar Maximillian, in May 2000.

The Down Under couple married in 1996 after costarring in the Aussie TV series Correlli.

Their daughter's happy arrival comes not long after another high-profile celeb adoption: Angelina Jolie took custody of her Ethiopian daughter Zahara Marley Jolie earlier this month.

The Sydney-based Jackman has a busy year ahead. In addition to diaper duty, the actor has six films on his plate, including X-Men 3 and the franchise spinoff Wolverine. He will also headline the just announced Andrew Lloyd Webber musical remake of Sunset Boulevard opposite Ewan McGregor.

Most recently, Jackman has been in London filming Woody Allen's untitled fall project alongside Scarlett Johansson.

For her part, Furness recently returned to the acting scene after a five-year break, starring in the Australian film Jindabyne.

VANCOUVER -- Doing justice to Terry Fox onscreen meant six weeks of work for Richmond, B.C.-born actor Shawn Ashmore before filming even began this summer on the CTV movie Terry.

The movie filmed for a month in Newfoundland and Ontario, but Ashmore had already been hard at work by then, working with trainers to perfect the cancer marathoner's distinctive gait. The movie airs Sept. 11 to mark the 25th anniversary of Fox's journey from Newfoundland to Thunder Bay, Ont., where the cancer that had earlier taken his leg reappeared in his lungs.

"One of the things I was really concerned about was having enough time to train and get the physical aspects of the character down," says Ashmore. "For Canadians especially, it's such an important image to all of us, it's something that's very recognized. I just wanted to make sure that I had time to do that properly, because if that wasn't right, then people would not necessarily be able to connect."

Ashmore, currently reprising his role as Iceman in the Vancouver-filmed X-Men 3, worked with a theatre movement coach from Stratford and with amputee athlete Grant Darby to capture Fox's physicality. During filming, Ashmore wore motion sensors on his right leg, which enabled computer graphic artists to add the prosthetic leg in post-production. As well, Darby doubled for Ashmore in wide-shot scenes filmed from behind.

The TV movie focuses on the time from when the 21-year-old Fox started his fundraising run in Newfoundland, to when he became a national hero while running through Ontario, and ends with the recurrence of the cancer in Thunder Bay. Fox later died in hospital in Vancouver.

"We didn't tell the story of a cancer patient. This movie is about the run and the great thing that he did," says Ashmore. "It's a really personal story, too, just four main characters, Terry, his friend Doug Alward, his brother Darrell and a guy named Bill Vigars."

A daunting but inspiring highlight of the movie is the recreation of the speech Fox gave to a huge crowd at Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square. Ashmore says Fox's sister Judy was among those in the crowd of extras when they filmed the scene, and many people showed up that day who had seen the real Fox speak. Ashmore studied footage of Fox's speech to prepare for that sequence.

"There were a couple of hundred people there (for filming) in period garb," he says. "It was pretty emotional. It was difficult, but there was an amazing energy. It was kind of eerie in a way. It's also amazing how many people who were there had been there originally. A lot of people who were little kids, their parents had brought them. Even some people on the crew."

Ashmore himself was born in 1979, a year before Fox's run, and learned about the fallen hero as most kids do, by participating in the annual run for cancer.

"I didn't discover Terry until I was 10 years old, he was a legend by that time," says Ashmore, who talked at length with Darrell Fox to get a feel for that time.

"They had food fights all the time, they were three young guys in a van, for the first time.going across the country. They were excited more than anything, especially in the beginning. As much as it was serious and hard work and all that, there's no way they could have done what they did without having fun."

Vancouver actor Ryan McDonald plays Terry's friend Doug and Noah Reid plays Darrell.

"We were out in the country running for a lot of the shoot," says Ashmore, who learned from Terry Fox's own journals how the trio battled the elements, did laundry, cooked meals, and tried to get news coverage -- all while Terry was running 26 miles a day.

"He was unknown at first, even through Quebec. The first couple of weeks at least, a month even, two guys living in a van, staying in motels, eating beans and peanut butter and jam sandwiches. That's what's so great, these guys were doing it when nobody was supporting them, and Terry was working just as hard when he started as the day he stopped.

"The biggest thing, especially in the beginning, was the monotony of the run. The journals were very dry: 'Woke up today. Ate two cans of beans and a peanut butter sandwich, did 50 pushups and got on the road.' But then, every once in a while, there'd be a journal entry where it would talk about a town they went into, a person they met or a little kid who gave them five bucks. And it would suddenly get personal.

"Until you read in his words, you don't understand how hard it was and how much of a beating his body was taking, and how moved he was by people who helped him."

Twenty-five years later, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised more than $360 million worldwide for cancer research. Production company Shaftesbury Films is donating any net profits from worldwide sales of the movie to the foundation.

Model-turned-actress REBECCA ROMIJN is heading back up the aisle - she's planning a secret New Year's Eve wedding to actor JERRY O'CONNELL.

The X-MEN star started dating the KANGAROO JACK actor shortly after she split with ex-husband JOHN STAMOS and now she's hoping to become Mrs O'Connell as 2005 becomes 2006.

And friends claim the wedding is the real incentive behind Romijn's recent drastic weightloss.

A source says, "As far as she's concerned, it's just as well that everyone thinks the movie (X-MEN 3) producers pressured her into losing the weight.

"Since they started planning the wedding, Rebecca realised she would have to go through several fittings for her gown. She wanted to look her best."

Connery returns to heist movie he turned down

Sean Connery is set to return to the movie project he walked away from last year to write his autobiography.

The Scottish actor is said to be ready and willing to give the prematurely squashed Josiah's Canon another go, according to website MovieHole.net.

Brett Ratner is expected to resume as the director of the movie, about a Holocaust survivor who leads the world's foremost team of bank robbers on a heist to recover gold deposited by Jews prior to the Nazi atrocities.

Superdad's aria for Ava
By FIONA BYRNE
11sep05

HOLLYWOOD heartthrob Hugh Jackman went from superstar to superdad in Canada this week.

Jackman, who is in Vancouver filming the third instalment of the lucrative X-Men franchise, and wife Deborra-Lee Furness hosted a star-studded baby shower for their new daughter Ava. The couple adopted Ava days after she was born in Texas in July.

The A-list gathering included Jackman's X-Men co-star Halle Berry, Australian actor Patrick Ward and prominent director Michael Rymer.

Besotted dad Jackman showed a bit of the talent that saw him collect a Tony Award last year for his performance in the Broadway production of The Boy From Oz, by serenading his tiny daughter with a heartfelt rendition of I Still Call Australia Home.

And he wore his heart openly on his sleeve singing the tender tune My Little Girl for the assembled guests while cradling Ava in his arms.

Insiders say there was not a dry eye among the close-knit gathering.

The couple's six-year-old son Oscar also won hearts at the soiree.

The family is expected to spend the next few months in Canada while Jackman completes filming X-Men 3.

The performer is expected to spend at least two months in Australia next year so he can star in what will surely be the hottest theatre ticket in town -- an arena-style production of The Boy From Oz.

McKELLEN STRUGGLES WITH DA VINCI CODE LINES

British actor SIR IAN McKELLEN is struggling to remember his lines on the set of new movie THE DA VINCI CODE.

The 66-year-old, who carved out a successful career on stage before switching to the big screen, complains he has been struck with forgetfulness just as he gets used to acting on camera.

He says, "It has taken 40 years of film-making for me to feel at home in front of a camera but just as I'm feeling good a disaster strikes. I can't remember the lines - at least not when the camera's on me.

"Those darn words keep popping out of my head just as I try to mint them anew." Source: http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/mckellen%20struggles%20with%20da%20vinci%20code%20 lines

How do you review a movie about Terry Fox?

Even if it is a flawed, often unsympathetic portrayal -- like say HBO's 1983 film The Terry Fox Story -- it would be hard to criticize anything to do with Fox and not feel like a complete jerk.

Thankfully director Don McBreaty and writer Dennis Foon have made this job easy by delivering Terry, a poignant re-telling of a great story about an incredible human being on a remarkable journey.

Like Fox did when he was alive, and film footage still does 24 years after his death, this film touches you.

Even the most petrified cynic will tear up when Fox and his mother Betty share an intimate moment and then ache with pride as he struggles his way to the top of a steep, long hill. I've got one word: tissues.

Ably meeting the challenging job of portraying Fox is Richmond's own Shawn Ashmore. Ashmore's Fox is very much the determined, inspiring athlete we saw playing through the pain on newscasts every night, but he is also the fun, warm and vulnerable young man who those close to him knew so well.

Based on the Port Coquitlam native's own journals and interviews with his family and friends, the two-hour movie opens in Newfoundland in April of 1980 with Fox and his best friend Doug Alward (Ryan McDonald) about to begin their 8,500-km odyssey.

"I'd like to go for $1 million," a wide-eyed Fox tells a reporter at the beginning of his journey.

By the time he had to quit the run he had raised $24 million. Twenty-five years later his legacy looms large, as close to $400 million has been donated in his name.

As Terry unfolds it becomes apparent that this isn't just Fox's story, but it's a buddy picture of sorts with Fox, Doug and Fox's brother Darrell (Noah Reid) starring as three amigos on one heck of a life-changing road trip.

A road trip that came complete with good times and not-so-good times, like the chilly response -- no press and police harassment -- Fox received in Quebec.

But even getting literally run off the road by a transport truck didn't discourage the unshakable Fox.

"I don't care, they die from cancer here, too," Fox tells his brother, who begs him to skip the rest of the Quebec run.

But Ontario was a decidedly different story. With PR man Bill Vigars' (Matt Gordon) help, the Marathon of Hope soon blossomed into a national passion.

Sadly though, that passion all-too-soon became a national heartbreak, as the freckle-faced guy in the grey, sweat-covered shorts would not get to realize his dream of running all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

After 143 days and 5,373 kilometres, Fox's run ended in Thunder Bay when he found out that the cancer that had taken his right leg three years earlier had spread to his lungs.

He died in June of 1981 just before his 23rd birthday.

The film closes with a series of clips of the real Fox during his Marathon of Hope. Those images, which we have seen hundreds of times over the last two decades, are still emotional, powerful reminders that Terry's tale is a timeless one that we will always be proud of.

Romijn Ready for Marriage No. 2

by Gina Serpe
Sep 20, 2005, 12:25 PM PT

Rebecca Romijn and John Stamos couldn't make a full house. Now she's trying again with a new beau.

The model-actress and her boyfriend of a year and a half, actor Jerry O'Connell, are engaged, Romijn's publicist, Lewis Kay, confirmed to E! News.

"We couldn't be happier and are looking forward to the next chapter of our lives," the obligatorily giddy couple announced in a joint statement Tuesday. No wedding date has been set.

According to Us Weekly, which first reported the engagement, O'Connell, 31, popped the question over the weekend at his family's New York City apartment, sealing the deal with "a humongous diamond ring."

The magazine also quotes an unnamed source close to the couple saying Romijn, 32, "is not pregnant." Baby rumors have dogged the couple for months.

This will be the second matrimonial go-round for Romijn and first for Crossing Jordan star O'Connell.

The couple met on the Vancouver set of the Ben Affleck romantic comedy Man About Town in April 2004, just after Romijn's split from Stamos, who were married for six years.

She finalized her divorce from the former Full House star in March and reverted back to her nonhyphenated maiden name.

The longtime bachelor O'Connell, whose credits include Stand by Me and Sliders, was previously in a longterm relationship with E! News anchor Giuliana DePandi. He had also been publicly linked with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The couple are now back in Los Angeles for some heavy-duty wedding planning--and their respective day jobs.

Aside from sharing credits on Man About Town, which is slated to open in early 2006, and the indie romantic comedy The Alibi, due out this year, each has several solo projects in the works.

Romijn is reprising her role as the blue-hued, shape-shifting Mystique in the X-Men 3, which is currently shooting. She is also set to star in the WB's midseason replacement Pepper Dennis as the titular ambitious reporter.

O'Connell, meanwhile, has three films in the pipeline, including the computer-animated feature Cat Tale, in which he provides voiceover work alongside Sean Astin and David Cross. O'Connell returns as Detective Woody Hoyt for Crossing Jordan's fifth season, kicking off next Monday on NBC.

PIMPLE PANIC

ANNA Paquin is having a tough time on the set of her flick "Margaret," shooting in New York. The stressed-out teen broke out in a bad case of acne last week and placed a distressed call to the Mario Badescu Spa on East 52nd Street. Paquin went in for the "works" and spent over two hours getting a facial, and walked out with a bag of products. "She'll be fine," said an insider. If it makes her feel better, we hear Anne Hathaway, of "The Devil Wears Prada," also shooting in Gotham, has called the salon as well.

See this is why I don't buy it when we get the comments : "Marsden screw himself by getting involved with Superman, they cut his scenes down to a minimun in X3 because there's no way he can do big roles in both films given the time..." Or something to that effect like we've been getting. Many in the cast are busy doing other projects. Look at Anna, she's filming another movie right now in which she's the lead!

Bad movies, not tough heroines, turn filmgoers away

I believe Michael Medved is reading way too much into the recent failures of action heroines at the box office in his commentary "Leading ladies: More glamour, less grit" (The Forum (http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2005-09-20-medved-edit_x.htm), Wednesday).
Medved argues that filmgoers have no interest in seeing women in action roles. If that is true, how does he account for the success of The Matrix, featuring Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity; Charlie's Angels, starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu; Terminator 2 starring Linda Hamilton as a gun-toting, buff Sarah Connor; the Alien franchise, starring Sigourney Weaver as Ripley; and the X-Men franchise, starring Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Rebecca Romijn, Famke Janssen and Kelly Hu?

This is to say nothing of Michelle Yeoh of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Tomorrow Never Dies, and Uma Thurman of Kill Bill, whom Medved mentions. In fact, combined, both Kill Bill films grossed more than $300 million at the box office.

What audiences want from their action heroines is what they want from movies in general: intelligent scripts, believable acting and fresh, engaging overall concepts. The gender of the star has little or nothing to do with it.

Elizabeth Hoff, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Male characters wrong, too

Michael Medved is right, but he doesn't go far enough. Hollywood is off the mark in its depiction of both female and male characters.

While women are portrayed as muscular and macho, men are shown to be dark, twisted, perverse or even psychopathic. And that's just the good guys.

A recent article in USA TODAY on slumping movie ticket sales asked, "What do you people want?" The answer is simple: give us characters we can identify with. Just as we don't like women who are unrealistically macho, we also don't like male protagonists who are vicious, narcissistic or mentally disturbed. We're sick to death of dark anti-heroes. The people I admire and identify with aren't anything like that.

Give us heroes, male and female, who are real heroes — not perfect, but generally healthy people motivated to do good because it's the right thing to do.

It may be hard for cynical Hollywood to create genuinely moral characters who do good for unselfish reasons, but if it wants to sell tickets, it had better see the light.

Kevin Myers, Bartow, Fla.

Strong women, key roles

Michael Medved's column about the need for "glamorous women" in the movies should bring shudders to all women from New York to Iraq, and stares of disbelief from anyone born after Queen Victoria's reign.

Does Medved forget how many Oscar nominations Bette Davis and Joan Crawford earned for playing husband-killers or lover-killers? Does he forget the laughs and hurrahs every time Kate beat Spence in sports? Does he forget the great battles and pratfalls that made the movies of Rosalind Russell, Carole Lombard and Barbara Stanwyck so great?

The only "purely glamorous" women in the movies were Greta Garbo, who ran off to seclusion, and Grace Kelly, who ran off with royalty.

Tough women who fight and men who aren't afraid to cry have been around since Charles Chaplin and Lillian Gish. They are what make movies interesting.

If Medved were a true film critic instead of a self-appointed moralist, he would know that.

Mike Smolinski, Grand Rapids, Mich.

Danger in 'make-believe'

Michael Medved is right on the money. Actresses become stars when they portray the feminine virtues: tenderness, generosity, inner strength, vulnerability and sex appeal. A long string of tough girl roles almost always sends their careers into the tank. Witness Demi Moore.

But equally important is the false and dangerous message sent to girls by make-believe macho females: that they can win physical fights with males. In the movies, when a woman punches a man, he goes rolling head over heels. In real life, her hand breaks, then he beats her up. Politically incorrect, but true.

A intervew with Cameron Bright.
From stargate-project.de:
Interview mit Cameron Bright (SG-1 junger Orlin - August 2005) English
Von: chobostyle am 29.08.2005 6:52
Themengebiet: Interviews
http://www.stargate-project.de/stargate/images/interviews/cameronbright/cameron_bright.jpg

Cameron Bright, full name Cameron Douglas Bright, is a 12 year old boy, who is already well known in Hollywood. He war born on January 26nd 1993 and appeared on screen next to superstars such as Nicole Kidman and Robert DeNiro. Cameron continues his successful way - his new movies ("X-Men 3" and "Running Scared" also featuring Paul Walker) will be in theaters in 2006.

Born in British Columbia / Canada, Cameron, who is still going to school, started acting to finance his education. Currently he lives together with his brother Bryce, his mother and also two dogs and a cat.

Cameron's favourite bands are Nirvana, Linkin Park and Kings of Leon, his favourite movie is "Saving Private Ryan". A few days ago we got the chance to talk with Cameron, who is on the right way to become a great actor - but still keeps his feet on the ground and remains cool. Of course we talked about his life and his work at Stargate SG-1 during the 9th season. He plays "Orlin", an Ancient, in the mid-season two-parter "The Fourth Horseman". Orlin visits Earth to aid Sam Carter and the whole mankind.

Stargate-Project: For your age you have an incredible list of projects and you’ve worked with some of the best actors in Hollywood but about you in person there is not so much. So would you like to tell us something about yourself, so our readers have some sort of introduction?
Cameron Bright: I am 12 yers old and was born in British Columbia, Canada. I have a brother Bryce, who is 16. We live with our mom, 2 dogs and a cat. I love to play soccer and paintball.

SG-P: How did you get into acting? Was there anyone who inspired you?
CB: My mom signed me and Bryce up for acting to hopefully get a few commercials to put money away for our future education. We never imagined it would get this big.

SG-P: What do your friends say now that you are a big star?
CB: My friends are still my friends. They don't treat me any differently.

SG-P: How did you get the role of Orlin on Stargate SG-1? Did you have to audition or have you been asked by the studio?
CB: They offered me the guest starring role. Mom asked for the episode that the first Orlin was in so we could see what his relationship was with Sam. Sean Patrick Flannery was the first Orlin and I was in a movie called Lone Hero with him and Lou Diamond Phillips.

SG-P: Have you heard about Stargate before? If you do so – do you watch the show on television?
CB: Yes, we watch Stargate on TV and I met Amanda Tapping on a plane on a flight from LA to Vancouver. She was very nice to me and my mom.

SG-P: What is your favourite movie and tv-show?
CB: My favorite movie is the 3rd Blade one but I like to watch all that my mom will let me. I like Everyone Loves Raymond, Stargate, the CSI's and all on the Discovery Channel.

SG-P: What can you tell us about Orlin – how is he like?
CB: Orlin is a kind being who loves his people and others.

SG-P: Where and when did you shoot the two parter "The Fourth Horseman"?
CB: We shot it at the Bridge studios and a location near the US border in June 2005.

SG-P: How was shooting for SG-1? What things do you still have in mind when you think back? What was really cool?
CB: We had fun I thought it was great. The set was cool too.

SG-P: Who’s the funniest guy on set?
CB: Michael [Shanks], Chris [Judge] and Amanda [Tapping] were fun to hang out with. Michael and I had a goofy moment while shooting one of the scenes where they are monitoring me from another room. I was in the other room and he was looking at a tv monitor that had me on it and I was kicking him in the face and he was whipping his head back as he saw my foot coming to him. The director and everyone were laughing so hard and Andy [Mikita] (director) rolled on it so maybe it will be on a dvd someday so you will all know what I am talking about.

SG-P: Who did you have the most scenes with?
CB: The scenes were pretty even but Amanda was predominant.

SG-P: Did you have the chance to visit the Atlantis set or meet some of the guys from Atlantis?
CB: The Atlantis cast was on location so I used their set as my school room. It was sweet....

SG-P: Some preview photos show you also wear a hazmat suite – how was it to get into that thing and how was acting with it like?
CB: The hazmat was great and fit me good. It was made for me (except the helmut) but everytime I moved my head the helmut stayed to the front so I have to move my whole upper body to turn to camera.

SG-P: Do you know if you will come back to any other episodes in the ninth season?
CB: Ask the publicist this... but I would love to if they will have me back.

SG-P: Which one do you enjoy more? Making big screen movies or shows for television?
CB: They are both similar but TV is shot on a shorter day so the hours are better.

SG-P: Are there any other projects you’re working on right now and what can you tell us about them?
CB: I was offered the role of Leech in the new X-Men movie, "X-3".

SG-P: What are the plans for your future? What are you going to do after you have finished school?
CB: Future plans? I am only 12, I just want to finish school... (laughts)

SG-P: Thanks again very much! We wish you all the best for your future and let us know if we’ll se you again on Stargate or at a convention!
CB: Thank you for your interest in me. It was my pleasure to answer your questions. Source: http://www.stargate-project.de/stargate/index.php?seite=artikel&aktion=show&ID=328

Hey, debauchery does happen here!
I heard this story on the radio a few days ago and didn't think much of it. But then it was in the paper. It amused me, so I'm posting the details.

Apparently, Matt Le Blanc rode over to Victoria on his motorbike during a cross Canada road trip with some friends in June. On June 28, he visited our one and only strip club, where an "aggressive" stripper did a little more than lap dance with him. Then she sold the story to the National Enquirer. I find this funny because nothing like this ever happens in sleepy Victoria. I'm surprised he even knew this place exists. We get celebrities coming here occasionally (like right now for the filming of X-Men 3, for instance), and since it's a fairly small place, people talk. Yet somehow stars keep a low profile and seem to enjoy their stay. Matt Le Blanc almost managed that, until the stripper told on him. But she didn't have the last laugh-she was fired as a result.

Says the Times Colonist article:
One staffer says she was "disgusted" that some observers that fateful night accepted money from the Enquirer to spin it's tawdry tale and signed confidentiality agreements.
"He was here just having fun with friends," she said. "As far as I could see, he wasn't doing anything wrong. He was a nice guy. You couldn't pay me to rat out somebody."
She said she was concerned the LeBlanc affair could affect business. "Celebrities aren't going to want to come here anymore."

Are you kidding?! Something like this will probably only help business, although admittedly more of the non-celebrity type ("Notorious Celebrity spots" tours, maybe?). And then there are some stars who make a career out of stunts like this.
But seriously, I do feel bad for the guy. He seems really nice. I hope he doesn't hold this against us and comes back some day. Source: http://www.livejournal.com/users/cosmicviolet/2210.html

Held at London's Actors Centre, the classes will take place over the course of a full year, and will be scheduled to accommodate the filming commitments of their teachers. The best thing about the classes, however, is their price: students who are accepted into the program will have their tuition subsidized and will pay only £38 (about $67) for the entire year. The result, hopefully, will be that talented people who would not normally be able to afford acting classes will get the experience and high quality instruction that they need.

>>>Bale, Jackman in talks for Nolan's 'Prestige'
By Borys Kit

Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman are in negotiations to topline Touchstone Pictures' "The Prestige," which will serve as Christopher Nolan's next directorial outing.

Bale and Jackman will play rival magicians in turn-of-the-century London who battle each other for trade secrets. The rivalry is so intense that it turns them into murderers. The title refers to the residue left after a magician's successful trick.

The script is based on Christopher Priest's 1996 novel of the same name and was adapted by Nolan's brother, Jonathan. He wrote the short story on which Christopher's Nolan's breakout movie, "Memento," was based on.

The movie will shoot in January with a budget around the $40 million range.<<<

Wolverine battles Batman

Batman versus Wolverine? Yep, and it's going to be magic

Christopher Nolan's next project isn't a followup to "Batman Begins", it's a turn of the century magician battle. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan is set to direct "The Prestige" for Touchstone Pictures, and he's negotiating with Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman to take on starring roles as rival magicians.

The script is based on a same named novel by Christopher Priest, in which two competing London magicians' struggle to steal one another's trade secrets turns to murder. The book has been adapted into a feature film by Jonathan Nolan, Chris Nolan's brother and the man who wrote the original short story on which Christopher's first big movie "Memento" was based.

Should they sign, Jackman and Bale will start shooting the $40 million film some time in January. Hugh Jackman is set next to appear in Darren Aronofsky's mysterious pic "The Fountain" and he's currently busy shooting the much maligned third "X-Men" movie. Bale can next be seen this fall in Terrence Malick's Pocahontas flick "The New World".

Famke and Hugh spotted at one of Destiny's Childs concerts:

From Scottage Cheese (posted 2005-09-13 20:47:00):
So we're walking around GM Place after the show and go past an exit manned by security. Fans collected around it obviously waiting for Destiny's Child. They didn't come out, but someone else that I swear only I would recognize did.

Out of the door comes Famke Janssen!!!

Either you're as celebrity-obsessed as I am, or you're going "...who?"
Bad-ass back-breaking Bond girl Xenia Onatopp from GoldenEye!

No?
Jean Grey of X-Men and X2!

...Ava Moore of Nip/Tuck?
...the mom from Don't Say a Word?

If you still don't know, you're probably just normal.
ANYWAYS.

This actually happened.

Famke comes out and is walking my way.
Me (while making eye contact with her): Is that... FAMKE JANSSEN?
...and she SCOFFED at me.

Okay. Sure I was a huge loser, but ***** should have been kissing my feet for even acknowledging her D-list ass. I am SORRY.

This security guy that was pissed off with all the Beyonce fiends was like "do you guys even know who that was?" and proceeded to inform us that Jean Grey and Wolverine from X-Men just walked by. I never saw Hugh Jackman... but okay. No one cared.

I was going to get her attention for a picture, but I want you to try yelling Famke. Everyone who actually tried just now understands. I regret not being a huge dick and being like "XENIA!!! XENIA ONATOPP!!!", but hindsight is 20/20. Source (BEWARE of clicking this link. "CHEERS" FOR THE HAMPTONS

By BRADEN KEIL

http://www.nypost.com/photos/re10012005040.jpg
COURTING A-LISTERS: One Beacon Court is hot.
Photo: Rex Dittman

October 1, 2005 -- Frasier's just purchased a home where everybody knows his name.
Kelsey Grammer and his wife, Camille, have gone to contract to buy a large shingled home in Bridgehampton.

"It'll be the first home that we actually bought in the Hamptons," Grammer told us by phone from Canada, where he's shooting "X-Men 3."

"It's new construction, which we're happy about. We didn't want to get involved with a project."

Grammer, who says he's not closing until January, would not reveal the price he's paying, but the house had been listed for $8.45 million.

The two-story residence is 7,000 square feet and has six bedrooms, eight baths, a great room, media room, sun room, formal dining room, and a professional-grade kitchen with butler's pantry. Other amenities include five fireplaces, an elevator, two staircases and a 3,000-square-foot basement.

The professionally landscaped 1.7-acre lot features a tree-lined private drive, a heated pool and spa, a pool house and tennis court.

"We hope to spend at least a couple of months there each summer," Grammer says, adding that he might rent out the place if he's on location somewhere.

Grammer, who's been a fixture in the Hamptons for the past several years, almost took his business elsewhere.

"We've been renting there for years, but we certainly got off to a rocky start," he says.

In 1998, he rented an oceanfront place in Sagaponack next to a home that was about to undergo extensive renovations. Grammer took the house next door to the late advertising guru Jay Chiat, where the sounds of hammering and power saws drowned out the soothing waves.

He eventually sued the broker for the then-whopping $100,000 he paid for the month-long rental. Source: http://www.nypost.com/realestate/gs1.htm

My X-Men Celebrity Strangeness

In the Blenz, I had to pee like a racehorse, and of course there was someone in the bathroom. I waited (patiently), looking at the walls, wondering how much the barristas hated their jobs. A guy walks up behind me, and asks, "is this the line for the bathroom?" I nod, while at the same time noting that

I was standing in line with Bobby - Iceman - from the X-Men movies.

When I got out of the bathroom, I went back to our table and asked Martha to confirm for me. High as she was, ("we're all so small right now!") she did indeed agree that it was Iceman. I have now danced with Magneto and waited in line for the bathroom with Iceman, all in the space of a month. If things keep going as they are, in two weeks, I should run into Hugh Jackman while buying beer. One of the cool things about living in Vancouver, is that if you're pretty sure you just saw a celebrity, it's more than likely that you did. A vast majority of celebs seem to own houses in Vancouver (a lot of the world's filming is done here, because the BC government gives so many tax breaks). However, I seem X-Men inclined when it comes to running into celebrities.

After seeing Iceman, Julia decided to show us how to steal a plant from a Blenz (hold it proudly out in front of you as you march out the door). I drove the girls home, as they were in no condition, and Rory and I are still laughing about the image of Julia, afraid she'd lost us, clutching her plant and twirling agitatedly on the sidewalk. Never have stoners been so much fun. Source: http://www.livejournal.com/users/umbrella_road/97869.html

Holy s***!

August 7th, 2005 @ 08:12 pm Sunday

My dad just called and told me some interesting news.

He went out to dinner with an old childhood friend of his tonight and he's a contractor. He said said that he had just finished $2 million worth of renovations on this house that is in the old neighbourhood I used to live in (and I know what house my dad is talking about). The couple that own the house are out of town for 5 months and there's a couple that is currently renting it while they're in town for the guys work. Yeah, the guy?

Hugh Jackman.

He and his wife are renting the house while he's here filming X3. Holy ****. The house is about 3 minutes away from where my dad is currently living and in my old neighbourhood. So I could like, go down and stalk him. Seriously.

This is what my plan is. I take Jackson down there and just keep walking back and forth in front of the house until I either, a) meet Hugh and fangirl over him b) keep walking until I die c) or get arrested.

Who wants to come with? Source: http://www.livejournal.com/users/leggyslove/680751.html

Tuesday October 4, 8:01 am ET
Revlon Spokeswoman Kate Bosworth Presents Unprecedented Check

NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The Revlon Run/Walk For Women, presented by the Entertainment Industry Foundation, is proud to announce that this year's events in New York (April 30) and Los Angeles (May 7) raised a record-setting $5.6 million. Since the first Run/Walk twelve years ago, the bicoastal events have now raised a combined total of more than $37 million to support women's cancer research, counseling and outreach programs. They have also grown each year to become among the largest 5K events in the nation.

Saraco, a two-time breast cancer survivor and one of the top fundraisers for the Revlon Run/Walk in New York, served as the team captain of "Sisters and Survivors," a group of 98 members that raised almost $33,000 this year alone. "Given my own experiences, it is my passion that I take a stand against a disease which affects so many of our mothers, daughters, sisters and friends. I never want another woman to grieve the loss of her breasts, her ovaries, her hair or her eyebrows as a result of women's cancer. This is why I work so hard -- because every dollar raised takes us one step closer to a cure."

Proceeds from past Revlon Run/Walks have funded cutting edge research contributing to the development of important new therapies, such as Herceptin®, the first in the wave of new targeted cancer treatments. Funds raised have also helped numerous organizations in providing education, advocacy and outreach services to those affected by woman's cancers.

The Revlon Run/Walk For Women was launched in 1993 through the combined efforts of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, Lilly Tartikoff and Ronald O. Perelman. The 12th annual Revlon Run/Walk For Women in Los Angeles drew more than 50,000 local residents, and was hosted by Revlon Spokeswoman and Academy Award Winner Halle Berry, "Desperate Housewives" star, Marcia Cross and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. "Cold Case" stunner, Kathryn Morris was on hand as a Special Guest and driver of the event pace car. Presented by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF), the event was co-chaired by Ellen Barkin and Ronald O. Perelman and Lilly Tartikoff.

Now in its 8th year, the 2005 Revlon Run/Walk for Women in New York attracted more than 45,000 tri-state area residents, and was hosted by Revlon Spokeswoman Julianne Moore, Golden Globe winning actress Mariska Hargitay (Law & Order: SVU) and New York Yankees Manager Joe Torre, with That 70's Show's star, Topher Grace, driving the event pace car. Yes, I DID used to watch Fraiser

I sold lemonade to Kelsey Grammer yesterday.

It was a busy day yesterday and Kyle, the guy I share a booth with downtown at work #2 pointed Mr Grammer out as he was walking away. I spent a second going 'hee, cool' and ten minutes later he was in front of me with his cutest-could-be daughter.

I made small talk (he's here for another week and then off to Vancouver) without making a fool of myself. Thank goodness I didn't see Hugh Jackman or Ian McKellen, or else I would have. Err...X-Men 3 is being filmed her for all those who don't know, hence the names. (Kelsey Grammer's playing The Beast)

I sheepishly told Kyle I get really starstruck and he thought I said 'I'm marrying a guy from Star Trek' and he was disappointed that wasn't what I said because he thought that would have been cool. That little tidbit was for all you to know I'm not the only odd one at work #2. Moving on.

At work #1 I learned a co-worker also works at a restaurant where they have all the cast parties for films in Victoria, so he's seen everyone. But my other co-worker was excited for me, which made me feel like less of a dork. Apparently Adam Brody and Rachel Bilson came into Bolen Books once, which would have been a lot cooler if The O.C wasn't the crappiest show on air. Meg Ryan also had a newspaper held for her every day she was here, but her chauffer picked it up. I also learned one of the perks of being the owner of a bookstore is you get to have dinner with brilliant authors, as my boss apparently had dinner with John Irving. Talking to a writer is so much better than seeing an actor. I'm extremely jealous.

Co-worker Melissa at work #1 has been the quickest to catch onto the fact I have a dirty mind. First, I must say I think sex books are great because they offer a way to help a relationship. And I'm really really sorry I can't sell one without imagining the customer naked. Melissa hates me for telling her this because she's afraid she'll start doing it too. My work here is done. 3 NEEDLES

Dir Thom Fitzgerald w/ Lucy Liu, Chloë Sevigny. 123 min. Sep 9, 9pm, Paramount; Sep 11, Paramount, 11:45am.

The title hints that this film is about the spread of HIV. Needless to say, it's not a comedy. Three sad stories on three continents are woven together awkwardly -- there's nothing uniting the characters except HIV -- but after a plodding beginning, director Thom Fitzgerald (The Hanging Garden) builds toward scenes of great power and complexity, not to mention stunning natural beauty. Lucy Liu stands out as a blood collector in rural China who gives birth alone, in agony, on a hillside. Chlöe Sevigny gets more interesting as the film progresses, playing a nun battling South African superstitions. Only the story revolving around a Montreal porn actor (Shawn Ashmore) fails to take flight. Source: http://eye.net/eye/issue/issue_09.08.05/film/tiff.html

GANDALF GOES FOR SUN SPELL Oct 6 2005

Lord of the gas rings wants to save energy

By Kay Harrison

GANDALF the Grey is going greenLord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen plans to summon up the power of the sun to power his Limehouse home.

The veteran actor, who played the great wizard in the fantasy trilogy, has applied to Tower Hamlets Council for planning permission to mount eight solar panels on the roof of his Narrow Street home.

If successful, Sir Ian could cut green-house gas emissions by savingaround 600kg of carbon dioxide each year. Covering 10 square metres, the solar photovoltaic (PV) panels are unlikely to upset neighbours as they would not increase the size of his flat roof. Anyone still wishing to object to the plans can lodge a complaint with the council.

Story continues (http://icthewharf.icnetwork.co.uk/thisweek/news/tm_objectid=16213148&method=full&siteid=71670&headline=gandalf-goes-for-sun-spell-name_page.html#story_continue) http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/design/icnetwork/arw_down.gif (http://icthewharf.icnetwork.co.uk/thisweek/news/tm_objectid=16213148&method=full&siteid=71670&headline=gandalf-goes-for-sun-spell-name_page.html#story_continue) http://a248.e.akamai.net/6/592/1130/0/oas-eu.247realmedia.com/0/TrinityMirror/default/empty.gif (http://oas-eu.247realmedia.com/5c/icthewharf/thisweek/news/49659873/x60/TrinityMirror/default/empty.gif/35323236363533653433343433636230)

The PV panels work by generating electricity directly from light, whatever the weather.

A home system can provide a large proportion of a household's energy - around one third of the annual demand for a family - so easily enough for Sir Ian's riverside padThe clean, renewable form of energy production can cost up to £20,000 to install and lasts for around 30 years.

The UK Industry Solar Taskforce said: ``Solar PV could be the single most important means of achieving the deep cuts in green-house gas emissions, which are the ultimate agreed objective of the convention on climate change.''

Sir Ian, who is currently away filming The Da Vinci Code and is also a trustee of Isle of Dogs theatre The Space, can expect a decision on his environmentally-friendly plans later this year

# A PV cell consists of layers of silicon which generate electrical charges when exposed to light and are then conducted by metal contacts.

# The Pentagon and NASA pumped money into PV research in the 1970s. # Germany generates 400 megawatts of solar energy each year. Britain generates only six megawatts. # A PV system never needs refuelling, emits no pollution and can last around 30 years.

# A typical system on a house could prevent 34 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions during its lifetime. # It's not just calculators and homes that can be solar powered. Boats, cars and car park ticket machines have been made solar powered

The Wolverine’s at the Door

Before Hugh Jackman jetted off to L.A. for the Emmys (where he received a meta-award for hosting the 2004 Tony Awards), he toured a $10.6 million Mercer Street loft with an eye toward buying. It’s in the same Soho conversion Harvey Weinstein called home until he sold his own place last winter. Sources who’ve seen the property describe it as sleek, with enormous windows, dark wood floors, and wide-open views of downtown and the Hudson. No word yet on whether Jackman—soon to star in X-Men 3—is making a bid for the place, though he may want to act quickly. Rumor has it hip-hop mogul Damon Dash has also checked out the space. A report also comes this week from the Upper East Side, where The View co-host Star Jones and her banker husband, Al Reynolds, continue their search to replace the East Nineties triplex they’re vacating. The apartment, listed with Corcoran’s Patricia Dugan, has its own party room, a sauna, and a serious terrace.

The highlight of my week?

While walking my little, very, very bad dawgs, in the park where I exercise them, very, very early in the morning, I crossed paths with the very, very beautiful Famke Jannsen and what I take it is her dog, which I think is a French Bulldog. (I adore Famke Jannsen and I don’t have the heart or the cruelty to describe what a French Bulldog looks like… but cute in an ugly sort of way like a Pug)

I have seen her since, so she must be living in my neighbourhood while filming another movie here in Vancouver.

If you have to ask who Famke Jannsen is, do not be alarmed. It kind of reveals my geekdom as she has a tendency to star in lots of science fiction/action films.

She is a former model who turned actress (I didn’t know this the first time I saw her work on Star Trek – The Next Generation) who can actually kind of sort of, kind of, well, act! Hint – think X-Men. Any woman good enough for Wolverine is good enough for me.

And even early in the morning, with no make-up on and walking her dog, she is a strikingly attractive woman, nearly as tall as myself. Gorgeous. Think Duchess or Countess.

Did I mention that I have always had a bit of a thing for an obscure European model turned pretty good actress named Famke Jannsen? PLus, she was a Bond villainess! Does it get any better than that?

Anyways, I didn’t want to bother her while she was walking her dog, but it was the highlight of my day. Did I mention she was beautiful?

The rest of my days and the rest of my week have just been all work and no play, so I am even duller than usual. And I have never been the sharpest knife in the drawer. Source: http://vanishingtattoo.blogspot.com/2005/09/busted-flat-in-boston-rouge.html

>>>Mouse sings Jackman tune
Tony winner does song and dance for 'Now'

By MICHAEL FLEMING

Walt Disney Pictures has acquired rights to the Cecelia Ahern novel "If You Could See Me Now" and will turn it into a tuner vehicle for Hugh Jackman.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce with Jackman and John Palermo.

The novel, from the 23-year-old daughter of Ireland's prime minister Bertie Ahern, is the first property acquired by the studio following an ambitious deal made by studio toppers Nina Jacobson and Dick Cook earlier this year to craft musicals that will utilize the singing and dancing skills Jackman displayed in his Tony-winning turn in "The Boy From Oz."

Jackman and Palermo will partner in each project with Zadan and Meron, who exec produced "Chicago" and will produce "Hairspray" for New Line.

Jackman would play the imaginary friend of a lonely 6-year-old who has been left behind by his mother and is being raised by his aunt. The twist: The aunt can suddenly see the imaginary friend, and a romance blossoms between them.

Hyperion will publish the book early next year.

"We've been combing material for a great idea that's translatable to a musical, and Hugh really responded to this book," Palermo said. "Our goal with these films is to help reinvent the movie musical."

Palermo said they've been inundated with tuner pitches and have requested outlines of several concepts. They made the novel their first significant buy and will move quickly to put a screenwriter on it. Once a satisfactory script is in place, they'll secure a songwriter to add the music. Disney execs Karen Glass and Doug Short, and Zadan/Meron exec veep Travis Knox will shepherd each pic under the deal.

Jackman, who has completed the Darren Aronofsky-directed "The Fountain," is reprising his Wolverine role in "X3" for release Memorial Day weekend by 20th Century Fox. He'll follow by joining Christian Bale in the Christopher Nolan-directed drama "The Prestige" for Disney and Warner Bros.

Jackman and Palermo are also producing a Wolverine spinoff film that is being written by David Benioff, under the first-look deal their Seed Prods. established at Fox.<<<<

The musical does not yet have a screenplay nor does it have songs yet. This will be in development for a while yet. It'll probably be another year before this goes before the camera. Good and Wolverine wil probably get going before then.

Don't forget also he has some "tours" coming up next year too.

Busy boy......

He sure is. I hope he gets those projects going before he becomes Disney's big star. Wolverine definetly needs to happen sooner rather later. Hugh's not getting any younger...

Yeah, he's going to be 37 on Oct. 12!

At least "Wolverine" has some sort of script going. No one knows what's going on with "Good" - it was supposed to film last June but was postponed because of financing. He filmed a Woody Allen movie (still untitled) in its place over the summer. Don't forget he's also filming "The Prestige" with Christian Bale starting in January. And he's supposedly reprising "The Boy from Oz" in an arena production in Australia for a bit next year (no more info on that yet). Plus besides the new Woody Allen movie, he has "The Fountain", "X-3", "Flushed Away" and "Happy Feet" coming out next year. And I'm pretty sure he still wants to do a "world tour" at some point. I'm thinking he's doing all these movies now so he can take a break from them and do some sort of tour. He did a one-night one-man show in Las Vegas for the opening of Steve Wynn's new casino on April 30 and the rumored tour would supposedly be something like that.

Speaking of talented,Ben Foster continues to blow me away in every role he picks.

His next movie is Alpha Dog,which is based on a tragic true story.Based on the trailer alone,it's pretty clear Ben has once again shown off his acting chops. This guy is just so talented and I hope he blows up big in the future.Plus he's playing one of my favorite X-Men so that's awesome too.

I agree with everything you said. The X Franchise has some of the best talent out there. We have been very lucky to have such talented people in an X-Men movie. If you really think about it, the casting decisions were spot on and if we didn't have the crew behind the first film that we got we might have ended up with some horrible choices.

ENTERTAINMENT

X-MEN RATED
Also big fans of Yaletown, newly engaged couple Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell are rumoured to be staying at the Opus Hotel while Romijn shoots the latest XMen sequel. The couple has been spotted dining at Elixir restaurant and was in for brunch over the weekend at Joe Fortes restaurant. Two weeks ago I mentioned sightings of Jerry’s brother Charlie O’Connell, aka The Bachelor. Charlie was here acting in the movie Deadly Water with Mutant X star Victoria Pratt. The film, described as Jaws meets Indiana Jones, was recently shot in Squamish and apparently involves a giant killer squid.

PARAMOUNT’S LORD
Last week I mentioned how Paramount movie theatre on Burrard Street has become one of the latest celebrity hotspots. Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf, Lord Of The Rings) just went there last Wednesday! He’s in town to reprise his role as Magneto in X-Men 3. McKellan and director Brett Ratner stayed at Harrison Hot Springs Resort over the weekend.
