Maybe not, because it has no link to the trailer or anything...

Huh.... I was wondering what happened to it. Starting to think I might have imagined the whole thing...

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 10:47 AM
I'm wondering officially what happened but, I'm sure it was because it wasn't an official sony release.

I'm hoping somebody official drops in to let us know.

I'm just happy I was here last night before going to bed.

FlameHead

I almost stayed up all night myself... and it's just as well I had because I couldn't sleep thinking about the trailer and stuff to talk about... and now it's gone.

It's just as well when you can't sleep to watch TV...

FlameHead

Or keep watching the trailer over and over and over again... which is what I was doing for about 90 minutes last night.

Nah. We all realize that this is very early on... plus, you can hardley even pic out what it truly is being only a flash.

I don't know why they just didn't release this as the comic-con footage, letting everyone know it's only test CGI.

I don't know why they just didn't release this as the comic-con footage, letting everyone know it's only test CGI.

Seriously - it was just 2 weeks ago- why did they wait?

Sony must have feared the legendary pickiness of the fanboys. :D

FlameHead

Probably, but that's going to happen regardless of when they release it.

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 12:40 PM
Score indeed.

Oh, and to any Sony people (or those otherwise involved) who may be reading, from what I can tell, the response from the hardcore fans (us) is 'things are lookin' good'. Most of the comments said, in the now deleted thread (that rhymed), were positive. Keep on this track and you'll make this crowd happy anyway.

Keep on truckin'... or bikin' I guess.

I just saw the trailer this morning. It looks good. I don't think this one is official though and I've heard rumors that it's just comic-con footage that wasn't meant for many people to see. It doesn't look like this one if finished yet, I'm still waiting for an official trailer.

Sony has just released a statement that the footage was indeed meant only for ComiCon. It certainly felt that way, the look of GR was very unfinished.

blades_shades
07-29-2005, 03:52 PM
That was so obvious it was not a trailer. I commented on that that at the comic-con they specifically said this was not a trailer and it was incomplete footage. My post along with 250 others were erased but I posted the same thing in another forum much earlier. Harry knew this was incomplete footage because his site and others sites commented on the footage. Tell me he is not corrupt. He knew this and still questioned the quality and wondered if it was final in his word.

KenK
07-29-2005, 03:52 PM
Yeah, The really nowhere near what they want GR to look like. I got the feeling this trailer was being released too early. Not to mention how it was released, with no official hosting from any Sony-related website.

blades_shades
07-29-2005, 03:58 PM
It's not a trailer it was just footage and inserted F/X that is not going to be in the film. Just a tease for live comic fans not for the internet. Harry probably got a threat from Sony. Harry did the same thing to The Hulk when he posted incomplete Hulk Footage and Fox got up his ass and the grudge started.

Harry has since retracted his statements on his site and now is tell his so called "lapdogs" to heel until the real footage comes out. What a pos.

FlameHead
07-29-2005, 04:03 PM
Comic Con footage or not. I really liked what I saw.

I wish they would have just released it as the comic-con footage. I mean, it was good enough to get us hyped and good enough for a couple hundred people. Why not the rest of us?

Ah well, that's how these things work.

I'm gonna watch it again. Try it with headphones on...

blades_shades
07-29-2005, 04:14 PM
Oh yeah the tone and the footage for being incomplete was cool. I'm pissed about Harry's half cocked comments about how this was a limp feeling trailer with bad effects knowing full well it wasn't meant for the public and knowing full well it was not complete. He's a POS. Period. Now here comes Vileone to his rescue but he can't be saved.

I saw it and I'm still looking foward to it. I still think that Cage is kinda too old to play the role. It just me.. If they got Johnny Depp, i'l be fine. Although he's still in the age level as Cage, he's more youthful looking...

Just my take, but I'm looking foward to the actual trailer!!!

We all want a Great Ghost Rider movie. But since checking different MBs about the CC trailer, ive noticed a huge range of reactions to the trailer. This MB is pretty positive , whereas an unmentioned site is pretty negitive in their MBs. Now we all know that Sony has disavowed the trailer as something that should never have been released , and thats fine. But if the movie is going to get a fair shake from the studoiheads, can honest negitive feedback to an unfinished trailer be a positive thing? Or should we be supportive and hope that Sony puts all the money, and creativity into what could be the next BIG Marvel franchise? My thought is that the earlier they fix any potential flawes with the movie the better. Just my 2cents. ps i pray GR rocks!!!!!!!:ghost:

On HBO they had a show on movie magic featuring editors. It was interesting how Directors view editing a film as the "beginning" of making a film. Cameron was quoted as saying (and demonstrated) how important an edit really is. one frame too much or one frame too short can be the difference between great acting and bad acting..... The GR Comicon trailer is an example of how a slapped together trailer can produce such different reactions to a movie.... just my 2cents...:ghost:

You can't sit there and slam unfinished work. It wasn't meant for your eyes. It was for a industry convention that some clown released onto the net for us all to see. It's unfinished. All you can judge is the tone and the dialgogue, and the look of the non-cgi characters. The editing, music, F/X, and everything will change. It's just there to show progress.

There's an officially released statement on the front page of the hype; http://www.superherohype.com/news/ghostridernews.php?id=3347

Ghost Rider footage hit the Web last night and was removed this morning because it was just meant to be shown at Comic-Con. The studio released a statement explaining the situation:

Ghost Rider only recently wrapped principal photography, and the footage that appeared on this site represents the earliest version of a character that has not been fully rendered. While we were pleased with the overwhelming enthusiasm the footage received at Comic Con, this special convention piece was never intended for release on the internet. A final look of Ghost Rider is a long way from being realized and we look forward to your feedback more than a year from now when the film makes it way to theaters.

Shades, i totally agree with you. Dont get me wrong, im not slamming the trailer, or MSJ or the acting. But theres something to be said for what we saw. Im just hoping that Sony and MSJ knows that they have a real Gem of a franchise that WE ALL want to be great. I have faith in the GR movie . And we both know that with a years worth of Post work, they will have plenty of time to make this movie rock!!!!!! Just my 2 cents ps My bad if i made it sound like i was slamming the trailer!!!!!!

I don't get it- why would they not keep it on the internet? This creates hype. MSJ- I know you check back here. Put it back on the internet and label it as 'incomplete' comic-con footage if you don't want people confusing it with the trailer. You mostly gave us story scenes anyways, and the story looks great- I was amazed by alot of what I saw and know this film will be amazing. Just put it back on the internet, the faster the word spreads, the more hype that is created.

MSJ- I know you check back here. Please put the footage back on the internet even if you have to label it as 'incomplete' comic-con footage if you don't want people confusing it with the trailer. You mostly gave us story scenes anyways, and the story looks great- I was amazed by alot of what I saw and know this film will be amazing. Just put it back on the internet, the faster the word spreads, the more hype that is created. We see early shots from all other films (Revenge of the Sith, King Kong, Superman Returns). And even though these are snipets that don't reveal too much information we are hyped from seeing even a single frame from an upcoming film- finished or not. Just, I think if it's on the internet more people can see it- watch it, and learn what Ghost Rider is about story wise, or concept wise- at least. And looking forward to Daredevil 2. Keep up the great work and thanks for checking back here from time to time. Can't wait to see Ghost Rider and keep up the great work.

I would rather see a finished teaser/trailer. It will give us a better idea where the movie can go. Of course, I'll reserve my opinion on the movie until I see more.

From what I saw, you can totally tell it was slapped together quickly for Comic Con. It didn't impress me, but then again, it wasn't finished. In fact, I think that they finished principle photography less than two months ago right? So I have to give them slack.

Nic Cage...he has a weird career. He's like a yo yo: he'll do a really good movie one minute then he'll do a really stupid movie afterwards. I hope that Ghost Rider won't be the 'stupid' one and I still have high hopes for it. I would rather see a younger actor playing Johnny, but Cage will do fine.

I don't understand why they don't have it labeled as the unfinished comic con footage and online either. It just doesn't make sense... unless they just don't want to start their marketing campaign yet, which is understandable.

Another reason to not have it online is the fact that we can take screenshots showing us every second. Those really bad unfinished shots of Ghost Rider would be bashed to hell... and were. Even if they removed those shots and gave us the rest, I'd be happy.

Ah well, alls well that ends well.

i liked his performance...or at least from what i saw.
for the movie Blaze has made a deal w/ the devil who basically waited for at least 20yrs to collect payment. Blaze has been living under that threat of damnation for all that time...and from those scenes in the trailer i got that impression.
i dont have any doubts he going to do a great job as Blaze...really interested on how he is going to do Ghost Rider though.

I'm not too impressed with Cage as Johnny so far. It really looks like he's coasting, and I don't like all the silly one-liners. I didn't care for the humor Johnson tried to inject in Daredevil, and I don't care for it here. He's NOT Kevin Smith.

Funny, isn't it? We were all screaming for a teaser, MSJ and Sony gave us one and now people are tearing it down! I wasn't at Comic Con and I didn't catch it on the net, but I'm not in the slightest bit bothered by the criticism. Why? Because it wasn't a proper trailer!! They've only just finished shooting, so you can't expect a fully finished, fully polished affair. Crikey.

When I see something on the big screen just before the film I've sat down to watch, then and only then will I judge it.

To me it seems like Nicholas Cage is good at portraying basically two types of characters: jittery, high-strung ones (Kiss of Death, Face Off) and mentally exhausted types (Leaving Las Vegas, Bringing Out the Dead, Face Off again). Johnny Blaze here falls rather nicely in the latter category.

RedIsNotBlue
07-30-2005, 05:21 PM
Nic Cage is going to be amazing in the role. I think some people are just upset that he doesn't fit the physical apperance of Johnny Blaze. Remember folks...we are getting a mixture...not 100% Johnny Blaze. The look on his face during the Mephisto conversation sold me completely.

I remember similiar with Batman Begins. And it seems to me there might be one problem the have in common. Miscasting female leads. I never got sold on Holmes and I'm not on Mendes either. But that in mind you don't have to be a Cage fan to see the possibilities. And Bentley looked pretty cool. So until I see the end results I'll have to wait. And with four award winning actors fronting the flick then maybe it'll be okay.

WiscoD

:ghost: I think a better way for me to have asked the question is this. What would bring a better quality result for the movie? Negitive or positive feedback . Maybe im just too wound up about this movie because i soo much want this to be the greatest GR Marvel and Sony can do. As for MSJ, the man who did Grumpy old men , Simon Birch and DD is perfect to direct a great GR movie.. Damn, im just too wound up i guess..... sigh.....

WiscoD
07-30-2005, 07:51 PM
I agree with marvel, I have no problum with Nic playing Johnny. He brings a certain look of dispair to the role. Besides, with 20 years going by with a debt of this magnitude yet to be paid, an older tired Johnny is the perfect look. i have friends that work 80+hrs a week with unbelievable stress levels, and i look 10 yrs younger than them. mabe they made a deal for thier souls too.:ghost:

as long as it doesnt turn into a rude b***h fest...there is actually more of a chance of the people associated w/ the movie just bypassing those kind of complaints.

I don't understand why people don't think Nic Cage is a bad actor. He has it all, he is dedicated to acting (he's had teeth pulled in movies without anestesia for realism) he is versitle (watch adaptation), he's got the "cool vigilante" thing going on, and he has a "creepiness" to him kinda like Christopher Walken. He's perfect for this role.

I can't remember exactly, but I know it's true.
Also, he is Francis Ford Kopala's nephew, but he wanted to make in acting by himself. He had his name changed to Nic Cage (after Luke Cage, the comic character AKA Power Man).

Cage's Resume ~ 1996 - 2005 (& Ghost Rider in 2006)

From 1996 - 1998, Nic Cage made 4 movies that I've watched in excess of 100 times combined. With Matchstick Men, Adaptation, and National Treasure putting Nic Cage back on the Hollywood map, the Weather Man is a movie which can bring another Academy Award (1995 - Leaving Las Vegas - Best Actor - http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Awards/Academy_Awards_USA/1996 (1996 Academy Awards)) to Nic Cage... his status is building up again, and what better actor to cast in Ghost Rider!

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000115/

Title (Year) (Status) .... Character
My opinion of movie and his portrayl

Ghost Rider (2006) (post-production) .... Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider
Seems like perfect casting and stressed look to fill the man's shoes who has been haunted by a demon for 20 years

Lord of War (2005) (post-production) .... Yuri Orlov
Gun dealer and by the trailer, looks worthy of checking out

The Weather Man (2005) (completed) .... Dave Spritz
LOVED the trailer and couldn't wait to see it, then it got pushed way back to Oscar time because of Nic Cage's performance. When a marketing campaign gets started around a movie with a release date planned, and the movie gets moved closer to award time, you know the acting is top notch.

National Treasure (2004) .... Ben Gates
Great entertaining movie where Nic Cage was adventerous, had some funny lines, a love story, and a blockbuster.

Matchstick Men (2003) .... Roy Waller
Exellent movie devulging into the thinking and thrilling side of Nic Cage where every move makes you think.

Adaptation (2002) .... Charlie Kaufman/Donald Kaufman
Never saw, but he did get nominated for an award. Probably rent soon.

Sonny (2002) .... Acid Yellow
Never saw.

Windtalkers (2002) .... Sergeant Joe Enders
Never saw.

Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001) .... Captain Corelli
Never saw.

The Family Man (2000) .... Jack Campbell
Pretty good movie way different from many of his previous roles and showed a man from a status of beyond financial and sexual success to a man who chose a different path.

Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000) .... Randall 'Memphis' Raines
His performance was not bad, and I know many people are fans of the movie with all the hot cars. I don't think the performance was outstanding, but it wasn't that bad either.

Bringing Out the Dead (1999) .... Frank Pierce
Never saw

8MM (1999) .... Tom Welles
Never saw

Snake Eyes (1998) .... Rick Santoro
Never saw

City of Angels (1998) .... Seth
I swear this movie makes me tear up every time. Nic Cage not only showcases an outstanding performance but one that touches the emotions to the point of being involved with his angel.

Face/Off (1997) .... Castor Troy/Sean Archer
No movie collection is complete without this movie. John Travolta and Nicolas Cage give 2 of their best performances in this movie which made John Woo who he is today.

Con Air (1997) .... Cameron Poe
Playing a man whose only goal was to protect his wife, Poe gets sentenced to prison missing the birth of his daughter. Another movie in my collection that I've watched on more then twenty occassions and also another movie made to complete movie collections.

The Rock (1996) .... Dr. Stanley Goodspeed
With Sean Connery and Nic Cage in a Michael Bay action piece that belongs in movie collections around the world. Pure brilliance and a very smart movie.

Leaving Las Vegas (1995) .... Ben Sanderson
Won Academy Award for Best Actor.
Never Saw (Def going to rent tonight)

I know you did a yearly thing, but leaving out Raising Arizona is a crime.

WOOHOOO!!!
A big Thanks MM.
I downloaded it before they took it off, but I got windows 98 so I was gonna buy windows 2000 so I could see it. VLC  You saved me about $50. I officially owe you 1.
It was awesome!! If this is unpolished preliminary work (which it is) the final result is bound to kick all kinds of unholy ass. I loved the chain action, the music was good, not southern rock(so they probably intend to mix hard stuff with southern rock which should be ok), and it had a good feel to it.
They should release it with the notation that its comic con preliminary stuff, I don't see how it could hurt, and most of the fans should love it.

when i 1st heard the audio i thought man...this sounds like the trailer from comic con! heh
glad thats the case....i wonder if they will still used those titles/music for the official teaser? those were really nice
guess this means we wont get a teaser in theaters this aug 5th. probably means we wont see anything in theaters until at least Dec or Nov...arghh!

I'm not sure about the music, but I really think they'll keep those titles. The reason why I'm not sure about the music is because it wasn't an official release. Plus, it was the music companies fault that the footage was leaked in the first place. Maybe they'll be punished. I hope not though cuz I thought there were on a great track with it.

Because of this little mishap of the con footage being released, you're right on now getting a trailer anytime soon. They'll probably now wait until everyone forgets about it. Maybe even the new year before we get even a teaser... a real teaser.

I think even the score/sound fx are still in development stage... sound need to be polished, maybe the part of the flashback of Barton Blaze grave is finished, or it's from another score. It's very probable the only true score at early stage is the cool engine sound...and maybe it's an experiment too (a success imho)

I'm glad to know there's a wmv version of it, but I took the QT file I saved to my friend's Mac and saw it this afternoon !

There's a lot of visual improvement to perform yet : incomplete CGI scenes, some sets look a lot like sets...
But the tone was right and exciting, I'll have to wait for more scenes with Cage since I don't have a clear idea on how Blaze should be like anyway.

What worried me most was the look of some baddies, like the close up on the sharped teeth plus thin mustache and goatee and Wes Bentley pale look wasn't very good.
I hope he'll turn into the kickass Blackheart we know from the comics at some point.

Well, I have to install a newer Mac operating system to run QT7, but Im going to lose some good programs to do that, so I have some hesitation.

The Windows version comes across as highly pixelated, and to be honest, Im a Mac/Quicktime kinda guy, and I usually never had a problem seeing this stuff till recently. Even my VLC never let me down till this trailer. I seen it, I just wanted to see if it is better in Quicktime. I think Im just going to wait till I see the studios released trailer. Comic Con was great. I hope some of you got to go. It had only been a few weeks since wrap, so I didn't have much to offer, but I didn't want to show up empty-handed so we put together a little teaser. Unfortunately, it got put on the internet by mistake. And although it was a good piece for what it was, it had virtually no action and no Ghost Rider in it! I was pissed off, to say the least. The Ghost Rider some of you saw was a proof of concept test that was done before filming even began. The finished look is going to blow your mind, I promise. I know some of you have asked to have the teaser back on the net, but trust me, the real one will be worth the wait!

Theres some old links that still work too. Guys even though this is comic con footage it is very likely also the trailer sans the F/X. Once you add the F/X in and replace the stupid GR footage with the real F/X that trailer will rock hard. Remember the early trailers of FF had scenes with incomplete footage. Like Johnny flying on his ski's but there was no fire, or the thing hitting the ground but there were no cracks. Things like that get added but this GR footage was much rawer than that.

It's not a new trailer. It's the same one that posted long ago. Check out this thread for other places to get it; http://www.superherohype.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190969

Also, a hint for those who think they have a new trailer. Before posting a new thread like this, check out the front page of the hype. If there isn't news about the trailer there, chances are it's not the real trailer.

I have a feeling we'll be getting something soon. Maybe the info drought is because MSJ is taking his time to make everything as perfect as possible before he unloads heaps 'o GR goodness upon us.:ghost:

Or maybe he just secretly enjoys tormenting us....nah

What we need is a real life Ghost Rider who goes around and finds everyone who posts a "new" trailer and give them 'the trailer stare': making them feel the pain we feel everytime we see a new thread devoted to a "new trailer".
I WILL SELL MY SOUL FOR THAT!!

No offense, but if someone is excited about possible new info, the last thing they're gonna do is think "OMG, I should check 2 see if their are teh new stickeez about this!"

Not everyone who hangs out here does so all the time, you can't really expect everyone to know that there is a *STICKY FROM TEH GODZ ABOUT ALL TEH ISSUES" attached...honestly, that kinda kills enthusiasm, when you wanna talk about or share something and all you get is "We already know, go home noob!"

A very close friend of mine just told me the other day about how he'd seen the Hellcycle for the first time, but I didn't point and laugh, or flame him into oblivion. Not his fault he didn't know, he just doesn't check on his movie news. It happens, people have other **** going on all the time, and that rarely translates into "time spent hanging out on a comic book movie message board".

I know it gets old hearing the same **** over and over, but auto-pointing at a sticky thread accomplishes nothing but making one look like an elitist prick imo.

Go ahead and flame away now, if that's what floats yer boat. I couldn't care less about personal attacks on me (and really, it's become quite the norm on the Hype), but the GR board has always seemed a little cooler and more tolerant than some of the others and I hate to see it descend into the same pitfalls that plague other forums.

Anyway, rant mode /over. Carry on.

Its not something to check and see. It is right there at the top of the forum. Nobody is trying to "act elitist" it has just become irritating because TEH new GR trailer thread has an occasional pop up and it brings up the hopes just to drop them. But whatever I know it is going to keep happening.

It wasn't a personal attack on you, or anything, and I know full well how annoying it can be. AND I know that it will keep getting posted, over and over....at least until the REAL trailer is up and everyone has something else to ***** about.....like the FX, which I'm sure will happen. I can already hear the "flames aren't animated right, omg!" posts.

Sorry if I came across as harsh, that wasn't my intention, but I *do* believe that a certain amount of patience is required from the regulars, to maintain a sort of happy medium, and tbh, the place has felt a bit unfriendly recently.

I completely agree with you, Hellrider that we should be tolerant, and the people who post here generally are. I didn't mind that someone had mistakenly posted a link to the comic con stuff again. It was the word 'NEW' in the thread title that bothered me.

Message to all: If you don't know for certain that a story/pic/piece of footage is new then please don't use the word. Otherwise people will get upset when they discover it's not.

at the end of it where GR is punching the camera, that sound you hear, is that him making a growling sound or the bike. I remember MSJ saying he sounded something like a mechanical lion's roar or something like that????? Just a thought.

To be fair, I've heard people on other boards say that they reckoned Cage's voice is a bit muffled in the clip.
