Look at Nnorita since you pointed him out. He was beating the hell out of Kenpachi for 80% of this fight. He surprised him, cut him all up, stabbed him, drove his arm through his chest, ect. And then Kenny finally put an end to him after getting the most competition we've seen him have in an extended battle aside from Ichigo.

Tousen? He gets pissed, gives a speech, releases his bankai. Gives another smug speech and pulls off a few shallow blows at best and then Kenpachi basically mocks him after becoming bored and shatters his bankai. Hell, Kenpachi would have killed him had Sugar Paws not got involved.

No comparison. Now I'd say he was shortchanged, he deserves another outing that gives him his due.

Ohno, I admit Tousen got done in quicker. though it wasn't that bad. He did make Zaraki imagine what Ikkaku and the others would do in that spot, but it was still the zaraki syndrome. It was also partly because he wouldn't shut up about JUSTICE, lol. I mean, just look at the finishing blow Zaraki gave to Tousen. He blocked his last attack completely without even using his sense of touch to percieve him. That's the badassness of the Zaraki syndrome for sure right there.

For a Captain to get done in so quickly and relatively easily = Punked.

In no way comprapable to Nnorita's drawn out struggle that happened to be impressive.

That was by and far one of the best segway chapters I've read in the series. I'm more interested in who that guy was that teleported with Orihime but to know that Aizen, Tousen, & Gin are all headed back to K-Town is exciting as well.

Nah. Even togethor, I can't see Ichigo and Grimmjow beating Ulq without a power up. Hollow Ichigo could barely scratch Ulqs unreleased state, and he's just as strong as Grimmjow.

And yeah, Aizen and the espadas intro was badass, but I wish most of the chapter wasn't wasted on describing how they replaced the city in such a drawn out way.

At the 2nd division, it was reported to Yoruichi that Urahara had headed to "the Maggots Nest". Soi fon was going to oppose it but Yoruichi told her not to worry and that Urahara must know what he is doing if he is taking his vice captain to that place.

Urahara eventually manages to drag Hiyori along with him. While walking there he tells her the history of the secret mobile corps. It was established separately from the Gotei 13 and the Shihouin family has a lot to do with it. Therefore the leader of the Shihouin family is given the rank of captain in one of the Gotei 13 divisions, that division will have a very close relationship with the secret mobile corps.

The current leader of the family is Yoruichi who is the captain of the 2nd division. The members of the division also have to take up a position in one of the 5 sub-divisions of the secret mobile corps. Urahara was included in this, the sub-division he once took responsibility for is the 3rd sub-division of the secret mobile corps which is called "Kanritai" which means “the Penitentiary Department.”

One of this department's duties is to confine shinigami who have a high possibility of bringing danger to others, which makes them also considered an obstacle for the gotei 13.

Urahara further explains that it's to imprison "the cause of danger". He points towards the northern part of the 2nd division which has the large prison where these prisoners are kept. It is known as the underground for special imprisonment or, the Maggots nest.

It is a rule that they have to leave their Zanpakutou with the guards at the gate. The area inside the prison is like a large room. There are tables and chairs for the prisoners to relax on as the prisoners are allowed to live freely inside this area. Urahara warns Hiyori to be careful while walking through there because even a prisoner might look calm, there have been times when a prisoner went crazy.

Hiyori asks what crimes were committed by them but Urahara replies that they have done nothing. They are simply judged as "dangerous persons" by the law of Seireitei. So they are imprisoned to avoid a situation where they can bring harm to others. He then asks her if she can recall whether anyone has resigned from the Gotei 13, Hiroyi answers that there are 2-3 persons.

"The Gotei 13 has no 'resignation' system but only suspension and elimination of the name if they are absent for too long. There is no resigning as it means being put in the 'special confines' for the Gotei 13" says Urahara.

In conclusion there is no such thing as resignment in the Gotei 13, which is a noble organization, once a person is accepted into a division. These dangerous people who can not go along with the organization are imprisoned and it is made to seem like they have resigned to everyone else.

Urahara has always had doubts that these prisoners should be locked up as he thinks their powers could be used for something great. While they are talking a giant prisoner goes crazy and charges at Hiyori. Urahara takes him out with his bare hands. He tells Hiyori, who is shocked, that the most important requirement when being appointed head of this department is that the candidate must be able to defeat every prisoner in there with his/her bare hands.

Then Urahara takes Hiyori to the end of the pathway. There is a medium sized jail that is heavily locked. "Look at that, Hiyori-san", he says. "Over there is a dangerous person whom we have to keep separate from the others.”

The person who wears a white kimono sits there in the darkness."Urahara Kitsuke?" they ask.
"What brings you here?"

"I have some business with you", replies Urahara while walking towards the cage. He looks at the prisoner while smiling. "Kurotsuchi Mayuri-san."

There is no response from Mayuri but the former jailer continues, "please come with me."

Just watched this weeks Bleach anime and it kicked all kinds of ass. Seriously, it's been awhile since an action anime series like this has impressed me. Bleach just ordered a huge ass pizza, ate it, digested it, and then took a huge **** all over Naruto Shippuuden.

Lately Naruto Shippuuden has been letting me down badly (again only watching the anime and not reading the manga on either). It's following the DBZ formula of 10 mins of talk per every 2 mins of fighting. One of the most (or should have been) bad ass fights in Shippuuden up to that point, 4 tails vs. Orochimaru, ending up being far more talk than action. However this weeks Ichigo vs. Released Grimmjow was excellent. It didn't let up, what talk there was actually enhanced the fight, and the fight itself was smooth and fast paced. This is how a fight of this magnitude should be done, no filler put inbetween to stretch it out.

Also Grimmjow looked and sounded badass in this episode :).

I contribute the "staying and fght" part as Ichigo thanking Grimmjow for saving him from Ulquiorra, whom undoubtedly would have stopped him hadn't he been teleported by Grimm. Yeah, it was awesome. I just wished they added more filler to this fight. Remember Majin Vegeta vs SSJ2 Goku in DBZ? Well, I wished the Bleach anime had have extended this manga serie's fight with ichigo and Grimm like Toei did with that. And if you consider how much of that was filler, then well... you get my drift.:word:

I liked 167, and sry but gotta disagree to the filler part on Ichigo vs. Grimmjow. The fight was awesome, short, sweet, and straight to the point. To drag it out would have taken away the fast paced, adrenaline pumped fight last episode. Naruto is taking a DBZ style filler in big fights style and it's not working, you end up with more talk than action. If anything Bleach's current straight to the point fighting is getting me feeling the way about Bleach that I did from the beginning of Bleach til the end of the Soul Society arc.

Tho I agree, the last Golden segment deal seemed to indicate fillers ahead. A new captain can be interesting tho, and they did seem to pick a nice clean spot to leave off at. I just hope the fillers don't take to long to finish.

I can understand that, but the one thing I've always vehemently disagreed on was the exaggeration of DBZ fillers. Sure there are three or four episodes where the main body spends the entire duration powering up, but usually that's because the final battle of that saga is coming to a close. Other than that, the action's pretty fluent, something I can't say for Shippuden.

But when I say filler out the Grimm/Ichi fight, I don't mean more powering up or staring contest. I mean more action and bad ass grand standing like with Goku vs Vegeta. If you read the manga, you would know virtually all the Vegeta vs Goku fight during the Buu saga was off panel, but toei is so good with fillers that they created this legendary brawl that rivals the Goku vs Pikkon filler. That's the type of filler I wanted for this fight, which I just personally felt shouldn't have been so short since it was being built up for a while.

I know everyone hates filler, and personally I didnt like the bounto arc at all (putting it nicely), but I actually quite enjoyed episode 168. They've set up quite a few nice plot twists there what with who did his captain exam and who turned on the seizing currents. Also, I know it was 'lame', but the new captain fainting because of getting drunk actually made me laugh, along with the 'he even gets drunk off sake-flavoured beans'. That's more light-hearted than what I was expecting- I thought he was going to be a recovering alchoholic! So I'd give the episode 8/10. (points taken off for the boring new opening and the new cap's crazy theme music)

I actually liked the Bounto filler, especially since at the time I was very very bored with the Naruto filler. I agree that the first episode of the filler has a decent enough set up, and the new Captain is alright. I thought it was funny too that he couldn't hold his liquior, one cup and he was out. The only thing I didn't like was how he took out the cleaner, no cool sword release animation, just him standing still holding his sword in front of him. It just seemed anti-climatic considering he came in and gave the usual badass, "I said I'm going to protect all of you" speech.

I thought it was entertaining and it made me curious to learn more about this new captain. I just question the filler timing in the middle of the arc. I know the anime is catching up to the manga, but I figured it would be handled a bit better.

Just watched Bleach 169...I'm impressed. I knew this story would not fit in any of the stories timeline (maybe just before the current arc), but it's actually well done. IMO it's very nice to see things go back to normal since it's been one crisis after another lately. I really enjoy seeing the entire cast against, characters that haven't been around in awhile. This episode had some good humor, action, and was awesome to see them all working together to take out those 50 hollows.

Funniest lines tho had to be -

Orihime - A Princess that bosses Ichigo around? Hmmm...I see. She probably wore a leather corset. Vinyl boots. Had all sorts of weapons, and was like, "No Ichigo their not the hungry ones. I am." (with that expression on Orihime's face heh)

Rukia - That's not a Princess Orihime...that's a dominatrix....

I was talking about when Isshin shows up, in shinigami form, to kill the fisher arrancar. When he's doing this, Shinji & Ichigo are talking elsewhere. They both feel Isshin's reiatsu, but Shinji says he had no idea who it was but noted that it was strong.

It's worth it tho IMO. I just finished 178 (newest episode) and it's filler, but damn good filler. Besides this filler arc there's another which is the Bounto arc, both of the filler stories tho are done better than the Naruto fillers were IMO if that helps. In fact I like the Bleach filler, especially the current filler.

The good thing is that this series really doesn't lose any steam. In fact I liked the last fight that was in cannon, Ichigo vs. Grimmjow, ranks up there as one of the best drawn and paced fights in the series. That's not to say that Bleach doesn't have it's low points, but it picks up after those low points and stays good as ever IMO.

Wabisuke really is an underrated zanpakto. Let's say Ichigo weighs roughly 185 (has muscles but is fairly thin). He gets one tiny scratch on Ichigo and he weighs 370. Since it doubles the current weight another cut would put him at 740. 2 cuts and Ichigo is well over a 600 pounder, a third strike would put Ichigo in a weight limit where he couldn't move. Of course that depends on if Kira can actually touch Ichigo if Ichigo was serious.

Nah, it's all in a persons taste. I liked the filler arc, and I've loved pretty much everything since it got back on the manga track again (outside of the filler arc inbetween which I thought was ok). I wouldn't say it sucked by any means. Naruto Shippuuden however...I think there are chunks of that which are worthy of that title. When Shippuuden's good, it's good, other than that it's worse than DBZ at it's worst on filler material. I'm just waiting for Naruto to start screaming while he charges up rasengan for 5 mins.

Edit - Just to clear up tho, not hating on Shippuuden completely. I loved the last episode. I think it just pisses me off since I liked Naruto part 1 so much, and Shippuuden started out so good. Then they started the filler crap, and filler inbetween filler, and filler right in the middle of what were kick ass scenes in the manga. Bleach however is mainly consistantly good IMO. Ichigo vs. Grimmjow was among the best paced, and best animated fighting I've seen in a some of the newer animes.

I agree. Shippuden doesn't do the series justice. That's why I only read the manga of Naruto.
Bleach, I mainly dislike due to the second arc being a copypasta of the last down to the very last objective and enemies. It was like Kubo ran out of ideas. Then there are villains losing due to severe plot induced stupidity or severe deus ex machina, and I know this is the case sometimes in other seies as well, but Bleach overuses this concept and uses it in the most extreme way possible. The filler arc interrupting the story was also a turn off anime wise, but so far that's my only anime-specific complaint.

Holy **** Halibel one shotted Hitsugaya! And it was a pretty badass scene by her. Now one of three things will happen from here on out. Either A-she will face Yamamoto, or B-She will demonstrate the same fallacy Luppi did by not confirming Hitsugaya's defeat, or C-Ukitake will wrap up his fight so he may face her. I can't see Komomura or anybody else doing it if Hitsugaya can't. Yamamoto seems too strong for her, so I'm betting either B or C.
It also looks like we're finally going to see Ichigo go at it with Ulquiorra. Bout time.

All in all, great set up chapter. And things ACTUALLY happened. I just hope Kubo finally gets back into full gear with this.

I had Stark at #3. :o But him being #1 explains his laid back attitude towards things. The dude think think he's the ****. :hehe: Shunsui was better off doing what he (Stark) wanted to do. Just pretend they're fighting while they're really just kicking back.

Halibel, I loved her revelation scene :heart::bow: No way that makes it to anime form. :csad: With ice boy out of the way. I see Ukitake coming in to fight her. While Yamamoto takes on #2 (old geezer vs. old geezer).

Sounds like you're about at the filler. You could, if you want skip over it. Personally I liked the Bounto filler, but not everyone did. Of course the downside of the filler is that the main plot doesn't move forward, and no new moves are learned. However I think they did a good job with it, but of course when it gets back on track it gets really good IMO.

Sure, Aizen wants her abilities and I'm sure if/when he gets them, he'll be 4000x more useful w/ them than she was/is.

What did those two female arrancars do to her when they beat her up? Finally decided to read the manga, and just got caught up. I'm really liking it. Some of it tho makes me wonder how they'll put it in the anime. I've noticed some things reading back, like how it was blood in the manga, and a clear saliva like substance in the anime. I wonder how they'll handle the Matsumoto fight?

Also it seems Aizen's very confident in his Espada. Obviously the Vizards will arrive to help, but they are giving the Captain's a handful. Also liking Ichigo and Ulquirra's fight, but not fond of the explanation given as to why Ichigo went from being pwned to being able to read Ulquirra's movements just because of a change in personality.

I never caught on to what happened to Kensei during the flash back issues, but after watching the recent anime episode. It is now obvious to me that Kaname used his bankai. I always thought he was taken down to easily, but now it makes more sense.

I'm probably the only one who really liked Bleach this week coming from the other comments. I agree tho that it's not Super Saijin, it's more like Yusuke. However it makes perfect sense with what we've known about Ichigo's hollow mask from the very beginning, it's not really surprising. He's not doing something unseen, he's turning more Hollow. It's probably nearly the exact same form he took when fighting the Vizard's during training. So not sure why everyones so surprised. If no one likes the form, then why not complain when Ichigo did it awhile back.

I see it as no different than Naruto getting near death and suddenly turning into a tailed beast, or Sasuke growing hands out of his back (yet those are praised on the net).

BTW, the complaints above aren't against anyone in this thread really. It's just that I've seen a lot of ppl hate on everything Bleach's done this arc on the net, when it's identical to things tons of other shonen jump young male manga does (Yu-yu, DBZ, Naruto, etc.).

That's true. However, most manga don't waste entire pages on one phrase over and over again, and they also make you feel the distraught. Take this weeks Naruto for example. Naruto had a similar line of questioning that was covered in two panels, and yet the effect was much stronger than Bleach, as well as the hopelessness. Orihime was just annoying spouting Ichigo's name over and over again like a broken record, and the rest of the chapter was too predictable. Not saying that a lot of current Bleach hasn't been that way, but that's the point. Bleach has been on thin ice with me ever since the second rescue arc started.

Those are both wrong. Naruto's hair doesn't change color or go spikey as a result from tranformation, and glowing auras are used in all fighting manga. Yusuke didn't steal his transformation either, man. You'd have to tell me what manga you're talking about.

That's also wrong. You learn a lot of things this chapter.
First 1/3 was chibaku tensei destroying everything and 6 tails struggling against it. Next parts involve Nagato commenting on the Sage of Six Paths creating a freaking moon with that technique. We also see they are hidden in a paper fortress somewhere. Next is Naruto's conflict within, and Yamato going nuts. After that is the 8 tail transformation and the kyubi breaking free of chibaku tensei much to the disbelief of Pain. And it all ends with Naruto trying to release all nine tails, but the sprit of his father, hidden within the seal, stops him. Which means we probably won't see the nine tails, especially since it's believed to kill him if it's fully released.
That was awesome.
Now compare that to Ishida predictably getting toyed with, Inoue spouting" Kurosaki-kun" for several pages, and a cliff hanger leading us to believe Ichigo is due for his 5000th power up.

Just read this weeks manga, and loved it. Love Ichigo's transformation. It's funny how often Bleach has been compared to Yu yu, but always differentiates itself in the end. Glad he didn't just end up with bulky muscles and longer hair.

I'm guessing Ichigo is kinda one of Aizen's projects, not directly, but he does seem to have an interest in Ichigo's growth. Ichigo's unique in that he had Shinigami and human parents, so maybe since he pushed his Shinigami side to it's limits with Bankai, he's pushing his human side to it's limits with a hollowification the other Vizards couldn't reach. Also makes me wonder if Chad's power up is related to Ichigo's as Chad mentioned his power was more like a Hollow's.

I wonder if it'll turn out to be Aizen's plan. That he somehow needed Ichigo's power to break something. That he used his connection to Rukia to bring him to soul society to power him up, and used his connection with Orihime to do the same. It's not like Orihime actually did anything before Aizen left.

Lol, I loved it. Everyone thought Yami was a throw away character, this was a genuine surprise NO ONE guessed. Now we get to see every shinigami in Hueco go all out. IMO that was a brilliant switch. We all thought they'd be safe and sound in Hueco after all that intense fighting when in reality the hardest fights just starting. Meanwhile back on Earth the shinigami are getting their asses kicked and Aizen and co still aren't out.

I look forward to next week's manga :).

Except in Japan where they're probably rioting in the streets lol. He's the most popular Bleach character consistantly in polls over there. I'm not sure what to think on whether he's dead or not tho. Typically when a persons cut in two that's it, but he's so popular....and Orihime can reform cut off limbs and all.

Even tho I am loving Bleach atm for some reason, I'm also at a loss since everythings just going in a much more bloody and violent direction. Arms being chopped off, stomachs and ribs being ripped out, ppl being sliced in half. I'm starting to think Kubo does want to surprise everyone and they really are dying. It's just that my typical shonen anime sense is telling me mega popular characters don't die to hench men usually.
