Potter is not in the summer this year.
I am not too psyched about TDK (skeptical), Indy 4 (as seen is this thread), Hancock (looks stupid), Hellboy 2 (didn't like the first one).
However, Iron Man looks awesome, and TIH teaser rocked, so it is winning me over. I also look forward to Narnia, but sick of the trailer.
I just hope this summer turns out better movies than 2007...2007 had only 2 summer movies I loved (others wee good to suck), but many movies I was hyped for...this year, I am not hyped for many things.

You mean AI: Artificial Intelligence? I loved it...though it depresses the hell out of me.
I thought Ridley Scott's Legend was good also...though not great. Tim Curry was awesome in it (and he looked good)

Yes the Osment movie from 2001. I honestly don't like the movie, but I like that it was a departure from spielberg's usual more direct, all lose ends tied up, happy ending, kind of style. I was thinking maybe i should add it to my list of spielberg movies to watch before seeing this...
Legend's, hmmm, I guess a great experimental film. I too don't think it's great as a movie though. (Still it's the reason we have Legend of Zelda) whatever ridley was smoking when he made it, I want some.

I feel AI is very underrated, but that movie doesn't have the feel Indy should have. The movie incredibly depresing, but I find it brilliant.
And I want some of that stuff Scott was on for Legend also...it had to be intense :woot:

Just the negativity. I mean if it's something like Saw 1 billion which will no doubt suck, I can understand. But for a movie that doesn't show many signs of crappy-ness I have no clue. But I guess everyone has different opinions.
Also 2009 doesn't look so great. The only things I look forward to are Wolverine, Terminator 4 & Transformers 2.

2009 will suck as for comic films in the summer... and movies in general due to the strike... just enjoy whatever we got this summer... I mean Terminator will probably be mediocre... JLA will be a disaster... Wolverine??? Well... its not X-Men 4... and I'm tired of Wolverine... never was a big Tranformers guy... I liked G.I Joe's... playing with them at least... never thought of it as a film.

Go back several pages...this movie is 10+ years too late IMO. They should have ended the series at 3.

You can go ahead and add "arrest warrants" to the list of smoking-related ills.
Just ask Shia LaBeouf.
Thanks to his nicotine habit, the rising star is wanted by the cops after skipping a court hearing to answer a ticket for unlawful smoking.
A warrant was issued Tuesday for the arrest of the Transformers star after neither he nor his attorney turned up in a Burbank, Calif., courtroom, a court clerk confirmed. (View the document (http://images.eonline.com/static/news/pdf/shia_lebeouf_warrant.pdf).)
According to TMZ, the 21-year-old thesp was busted for puffing illegally on the sidewalk outside a gift store called Skyblupink.
Arraignment was scheduled for 8 a.m. for the misdemeanor offense. The judge issued a $1,000 bench warrant once he determined LaBeouf was missing in action.
The actor's rep, Melissa Kates, was unavailable to comment, and his current whereabouts are unknown. (LaBeouf was spotted by E! Online's Party Girl (http://www.eonline.com/gossip/partygirl/detail/index.jsp?uuid=9046b774-b626-4d25-b856-13324e9c759a) at the Hollywood hotspot Goa over the weekend.)
This isn't the first time LaBeouf has run afoul of the law for minor infractions.
In November, LaBeouf was tagged for a misdemeanor trespassing charge after he refused to leave a Chicago Walgreens. The criminal count was dropped a month later, after the drugstore chain refused to proceed with the case.
LaBeouf next appears on the big screen in the hotly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, swinging into theaters everywhere on May 22.

LaBeouf next appears on the big screen in the hotly anticipated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, swinging into theaters everywhere on May 22.

06 was as bad as it gets... so I guess we should be grateful...
For me, Pirates saved 06 summer, but this summer does look much better. Which of the three Indiana Jones flicks is, in the opinion of everyone here, is the best? I personally liked The Last Crusade better than Temple of Doom. I'll admit that Temple was too intense at a few parts.
DoctorJones
03-20-2008, 09:34 AM
My favourite is The Last Crusade: it's funny, it's dramatic, and it's really boy's own. Raiders is so iconic and perfect though, it's actually the most balanced of the three in tone. As for Temple, there's nothing more I can say than 'I like it', but it would have been forgotten if it wasn't an Indiana Jones movie.

There's a new video on the official site. It's pretty neat, we saw Shia LaBeouf sword-training, playing with his switchblade, swimming and some fake blood on his face (bringing back the Raiders grit). We also see Indy wearing that grey fedora from the end of Raiders.

Hurt, McDiarmid's Roles In Indy 4
By Garth FranklinFriday, March 21st 2008 7:02am
The official site for the upcoming "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" has seen its cast section undergo some interesting (albeit temporary) updating today.
The Raider.Net first alerted me to the changes and I checked it out, sure enough in the wee hours of Friday morning US time the casting section listed most of the main actors and their character names. The whole section has since been pulled however, reasons unknown.
In any case when it was up, the site seemed to confirm the long standing rumor which Dark Horizons first broke back in June - that John Hurt would be playing the long thought-dead Abner Ravenwood (father of Karen Allen's character Marion). As recently as last month, producer Frank Marshall denied the talk of Abner's appearance in the film.
Meanwhile the site also lists "Star Wars" actor Ian McDiarmid as playing the role of Professor Levi in the new film. This is surprising as McDiarmid played the role of Professor Levi, a friend of Indy's father living in Paris, in a 1993 episode of "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles" in which Indy has a torrid affair with Mata Hari.
As the action of this film is set in 1957, forty-one years after the events of that episode, McDiarmid would have to play the character as in his late eighties (that is unless a flashback element is a part of the action).

Thats actually a really good assumption. It might be even something smaller like fear of flying. Indys fears are usually only visited once per film and i see too much possibility of them frequently being in high places

Going to the States soon and hoping to nab the DVD set at a good price and watch them before May 22. I've been waiting for Indy 4 to see if a better set would be produced, I like the DVD covers better for this new and one. Its more promotional tool for Indy 4. That's the spirit! Part of the good thing about Kingdom is that it'll make Doom feel less like an oddity and more like a unique adventure. So no Sallah or Brody in this installment, but we got Marion.
Raiders: Primarily Middle East setting with a Biblical artifact, Marion, Sallah, Brody, South American prologue, Nazis
Doom: Wholly Asian setting, Hindu artifact, Thugees, Chinese gangsters, mercenary Indy, Indy is an "adoptive" father
Crusade: European / Middle East setting with a Biblical artifact, Nazis, Sallah, Brody, Prologue spanning from Indy's childhood, deals with his own father
Kingdom: Older and wiser Indy, Marion, South American setting, Russians, likely prologue set in the US, "alien" artifact and potential flesh-and-blood son

I recall that the screenwriter didn't want to make it this "fanboy" script so Sallah was left out for this one. If any of us were to write an Indy movie or collaborated you'd probably find a way to include Sallah because he's a favourite but maybe it doesn't fit the story. Having him back for Crusade made sense.

I don't get why people are up in arms about this still. GEORGE LUCAS IS NOT DIRECTING THE MOVIE. Steven Speilberg, the man who has given us 3 great other Indy films, plus countless others, IS. Lucas wrote the story, not the screenplay. He's written the story for all the Star Wars movies, even the GOOD ones. The man may not be a great director, but he can tell a good story when he needs to. And Speilberg rarely makes bad films. At it's worst, this will be the worst Indiana Jones film. But that doesn't mean it will suck.
Wait, hasn't he always worn the same type of pants?
BloodyWolverine

The worst of the Indy films maybe but any Indy film will be better then many other films you have seen and with Indys absence for many year could garantee big opening weekend box office number due to there not being a sequel for so long.
Only The Dark Knight and Iron Man are on my must see list over INDY 4.
And Indy Could be second best 2008 film behind The Dark Knight.

1. In a blurb about Crystal Skulls, it says they were found in the EARLY 20th century and that so far only 5 of a possible 12 skulls have been found
2. There is a section on rocket sleds and how to avoid the enemy on barren government facilities. It says the sled can be a great way to evade capture. Sounds like Indy will use the seld in the movie.
3. It explains how to escape quicksand by whipping a tree and pulling yourself out.
4. How to break free if you are tied up. There was some stories that Indy was captured in the new movie so this might reference that.
5. A section on insects talks about 4" ants and giant mosquitos.
These two might be the biggest things...
6. There is a section that talks says if confronting an ALIEN to "do as Indy" and get the heck out of there.
7. How to Survive a Nuclear Blast - get indoors and if you are "lucky enough to be within striking distance of a REFRIGERATOR, get inside."

aw, very father son IMO
Why does he have to wear those old man baggy pants? Why do I have such a bad feeling about this movie? (Maybe because I just saw a bit of AOTC...)
A better question is, why is Indy wearing two belts?

Its it funny how Mutt is his nickname and a Mutt refers to a dog while Indiana is Dr. Jones nickname and Indiana was the name of his dog. Hmmm...

Detail shot of the Jones figure. I think it's hard to say that it doesn't bear a resemblance to ford.

Short Round and Willie were also named after dogs: the former was the screenwriter's dog, the latter was Spielberg's (who cameoed in Jaws). Ironically, Spielberg married Kate Capshaw. And yes, I guess LaBeouf's character Mutt is a potential link to his "father". Small world, isn't it?

Capshaws character was annoying i liked Ravenwood better and in my opinon was the obvious choice from day one the mother of Indiana Jones child. I however miss John Ryse Davis Character in Indy 4 even if John is looking old.
I like Ray Winstone though and i think this will be an amazing movie. The world has been deprived of Indy for too long.

But that doesn't mean it will suck.
thatz exactly what ive been freaking saying!!! :) :) :)

They just had a TV spot on Nick. I know. I am watching it for IM commercials.
There was only some new footage at the beginning. Shia and Indy are in a small passage and he says it is a dead end and the Indy does something that opens a door and then looks back and smiles.

I'm now about 95% sure that Mutt isn't Indy's kid. He calls him "Professor" and he's listed on the ToyFair images as being a certain "Mutt Williams," not Ravenwood or Jones.
To be honest, I'm quite relieved about that.

if he is the son, are they going to turn the franchise into Shia being like the next Indy? I hope they just leave it as is. I don't know if Harrison can pull off another one after this fourth one.

I'd be inclined to agree if the setting didnt look just like Ancient American temples in the jungle which seem to be the major setting of the flick although that'd be good placement for that line.
EDIT- Just so the screencaps. That explanation seems more plausible now
