Steven Sommers is 7'7''. He actually grew a whole inch whilst making Van Helsing.

Many More Indy Adventures on Their Way!
Written by Stephanie Sanchez
Monday, 16 July 2007
There have been rumors flying left and right about the new Indiana Jones adventure from the title to the plot.
But what about it’s future? The IESB got some really interesting information today from very well respected Paramount studio source that we thought we would share.
Shia LaBeouf, a break out star this year with a few small films under his belt like Disturbia, Surf’s Up and Transformers, has signed a four picture deal as the archeologist’s offspring. That’s right, he has signed on for 3 more Indiana Jones movies after this one!
Does this mean Harrison Ford is done with this franchise after this film? Apparently not! He signed a three picture deal, his final stint as the whip wielding adventurer will be a trilogy. This means they better crank out these films pretty quickly before it becomes Indiana Jones and the Hunt for His Prune Juice. He is getting on in years after all.
How solid is this intel? Not to be cheesy, but solid as a rock!
Now, I know everyone is very anxious about the current production and you are saying to yourself, but guys, don’t you have any information on this one? As a matter of fact we do…not much, but it’s something (if you get that Star Wars quote then you are a geek).
The aliens are being referred to as “the gods.” We know Area 51 is making an appearance in the film so aliens must be abound, but in any case, the aliens are being referred to a “gods.” Hence, further indication that the working title of Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods could be accurate after all. There you go, your bone for the day.
Stay tuned for further updates from the IESB!

It doesn't make sense. For example:
Spielberg is 5'7 and Cameron is 6'2, but both of them are great Hollywood filmmakers.

Well I'm sure there are enough script ideas they can bring back over the 10 years this thing was in development hell.
Ford is 5 years away from turning 70! He's two years younger than my grandpa. As much as I wanted to see a 4th Indy movie, at this point in time I don't want to see anymore after next year's.

chud was reporting this too. but it doesnt make it much more likely to happen. as for ford signing a 3 picture deal, thats pretty commonplace these days.
what is for sure is that this will be the last indy directed by steven spielberg. I mean, its taken 14 years to get ONE movie off of the ground. I highly doubt anymore will be made.

No, not at all. Indy is the central character. Shia is playing a sidekick type character. It makes no sense to make an Indiana Jones film, where your central character takes a backseat to anybody. His age is meaningless, he's Indiana Jones.

From MTV News:
“It’s not the years,” Indiana Jones tells Marion in “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “It’s the mileage.” But, 26 years after he first appeared on the big screen — and one year before he’s set to make his triumphant return — just how much more mileage can Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and star Harrison Ford squeeze out of the legendary character? Apparently quite a lot — that is, if you believe reports today on IESB that claim Harrison Ford is signed on for two more Indy films after “4” (for a total of three), and Shia LaBeouf is signed on for three more (a total of four). But alas, like many online whisperings, this one appears to be nothing more than wishful thinking. That is, at least according to the studio.
“That’s purely a rumor,” Lucasfilm’s Director of Publicity John Singh told MTV News. “Idle chatter among Internet fans.”
An official denial…but that won’t stop us from speculating anyway. Given what you’ve heard and seen from the set of “Indy 4,” would you like to see even more adventures for our whip-wielding hero? Sound off below.

Indy is now old enough to get lost in his own museum...scratch that, his house.

I hate the idea of an old Indy. He's the kind of character you never expect to age. In the old Indy tv show, there's episodes where Indy is in his 90s. I just hated that.
Even though Ford is 65 years old(and Indy is gonna be 55), I guess I could deal with it if the movie comes out really good which I believe it will.

Dark Horse Creating Indiana Jones 4 Comic
Source: Dark Horse Comics
July 26, 2007
Dark Horse Comics (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=22803#) has announced that it has acquired the comic book rights to the world's most famous adventurer, Indiana Jones, and will launch a new series in 2008.
Fans can plunge themselves into the adventures of the fedora-wearing archaeologist well before then. In February 2008, Dark Horse Comics will publish the first of two Indiana Jones Omnibuses collecting Dark Horse's previous entries in the saga. Then April sees the release of volume one of Indiana Jones Adventures—a digest-sized graphic novel designed for the enjoyment of young readers as well as adults. The Indiana Jones Adventures volumes and the Omnibuses will continue on a quarterly basis—including Omnibuses for the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and the original Marvel run of Indiana Jones comics.
A comics adaptation of the film will be released simultaneously with the motion picture, followed immediately by an all-new Indiana Jones comics series.
Indiana Jones 4 (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=4665) hits theaters (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=22803#) on May 22.

Exclusive: John Hurt Talks Indy IV
Empire gets updated...
http://www.empireonline.com/images/image_index/150x180/10208.jpg
Ten months. Ten months! Can it still be almost a year until the world's foremost authority on ancient artifacts, quality fedoras amd kick-ass adventure returns to the big screen? Still, considering Indy IV was once only a far-off dream in the minds of millions of fans around the world, the fact the movie is now most definitely on its way should be enough to sate those treasure-seeking appetites...for now, at least.
With more Indy IV news expected to erupt from the Comic-Con panels over the next few days, Empire decided to kick things off by grabbing a few words with one of the movie's stars. Speaking in L.A., where Spielberg, Lucas and Ford are continuing the shoot, John Hurt told Empire that things were progressing " very nicely. I've done the odd scene with Shia [LeBoeuf]" he continued. "He's a very good young actor indeed and a very nice guy too. And working with Steven [Spielberg] is wonderful. It feels like I've worked with him many, many times before and I never have."
Despite a string of spiraling rumors - see Empire's Heroes Of 2008 feature for more Indy info - plot details and, in many cases, character specifics are still shrouded in secrecy. So when we asked the actor to tell us a bit about his role in next year's most anticipated movie, his reply was somewhat predictable: "Well, I'm not allowed to tell you about my character - it's under tight control for good reason. It's not meant to be 'boo to you sucks' type of thing - it's because it makes sense...and it wouldn't help you to know what I was playing anyway."
And what of his hopes for the film? "My motto all the way through my life has been that if something stands the chance of succeeding on the level that it is intended to succeed on, then it's worth having a look at. And nobody could possibly say that this series has not absolutely fulfilled its intentions." Amen to that.
UPDATE: The official Indiana Jones site has been updated with an on-set shot of Karen Allen (Marion Ravenwood returns!) and a series of new wallpapers. One of which I've just set as my desktop background. Awesome.
Stay tuned to Empire for all the latest Indy IV updates

Good to see Lucas is not on set :oldrazz:

If you assume just by the Pics Lucas is not on set or part of this everyday. Then you don't know George. Lucas i imagine when he is producing is like a second director.
Plus he likely is heading the effects stuff so you may be right is not on set. But Lucas very much likely is more then just a producer.
Mr. Socko
07-27-2007, 12:20 PM
I just saw the footage on G4. Spielberg, Ford, Labeouf, Winstone, Allen, etc were all there on camera. Am I suppose to believe Lucas was just hiding backstage?
But anyway, that was just a joke as you can tell by the smily. But I've seen numerous pics of shooting in New Haven, and Lucas was definitely on set, but certainly not every day. Lucas certainly isn't like a second director(well not on set). Lucas loves post production so he's definitely very involved there but he's stated numerous times he doesn't like principal photography, so I highly doubt he's on set every day telling the actors what to do, Spielberg is doing that.

How was Firewall?I liked Firewall, but I've noticed that, in the previous Indy movies, Harrison has a sort of "twinkle" in his eyes. It's slowly gone away since the 1990's, but I've noticed that it seems to be back. That twinkle is what I think made the first three Indy films so great, and Harrison having that youthful spirit back bodes well for Indy 4.

When Harrison says something along the lines of "He thinks he's the best looking one in the film" while pointing I could see the old Indy smirk and twinkle again. It was sweeeeeeeeet.
On a side note...I read that eventually the kid will be taking over the reigns of the series....now, in the films Indiana Jones isn't actually the real name of the character, he took on the name Indiana from the dog as his adventuring name. Does that mean the kid will take on the name as well when he takes over the series? (I would imagine they wouldn't change the name of the movie series...so...)

There are similarities, but expectations for Indy IV won't be as ridiculously, overwhelmingly high as for The Phantom Menace. And Spielberg hasn't taken twenty years out from directing.

Should/will Indy 4 have a swarm of critters, and if it does, what would you like to see?
Just throwing out stuff here, I'm bored and sober despite all my efforts.

Sallah not returning! That sucks!
But yea, Phantom Menace was the most hyped movie of all time. The hype was just insane. People were expecting close to Titanic numbers.
I think domestically at least it came pretty close to titanic, I could be wrong tho

I think Harrison is probably in good shape for his age. I mean Sean Connery in his Sixties did hard core action films.

You know he's really there to make Harrison Ford look more athletic? The same was done in A View to a Kill, Roger Moore was 56 so he was pared with Patrick McNee.

Just out of intrest, here the highlights of what Karen Allen has been doing since playing Marion in Raiders...
Starman (1984)
Scrooged (1988)
Challenger (1990, TVM)
Malcolm X (1992)
King of the Hill (1993)
The Perfect Storm (2000)
In the Bedroom (2001)
The only thing i specifically remember seeing her in was The Perfect Storm.

I've been thinking about how much the action will be reduced in light of Ford's age, and I don't actually see it will be that much.
Indy was never Neo. Most of the fight scenes in the previous movies are old-fashioned slugfests. Indy's way of fighting is punch/shoot/whip/hit the guy with whatever you can get your hands on. And Spielberg never shot them very fast....the fight with the boxer in Raiders (as Marion is trapped in the plane) is something Ford could more-or-less do today (albeit in more takes).
The famous truck-hijack scene I can see beeing more tricky, however.

Ford was pretty hands on in 'Firewal'l with all the stunts, so i don't see that being an issue with Indy 4. Besides Indy 4 has always used stunt doubles when Harrison couldn't/wouldn't perform any of the major stunts. The stunt doubles will probably just get more overtime this time around.
