Well, at least Ron Wagner did the art for the comic. That is a redeeming factor, if the only one.

you know, the movie where the aliens come and live in a giant sand pit that sucks you in then they prick you on the back of the neck and you are infected? They had these big red aliens and this cover looks like one of those aliens.......

I think i'll be waiting for May.26th before i even think of the GR movie. Not enough Marvel for my liking in 2006, but i think 2007 will make up for it. The future is only beginning for Marvel films. Lets see lots more and soon.

Wow, what'd you buy FH?
Locally, I took care a lot of the Blades and Blazes and Morbius' that were spread throughout the city. There are no Ghost Riders left here that I need, you see so, I also made an order online. I picked up 52 comics; 50 of which were Dan Ketch appearances either in his run or elsewhere. When I get that shipment, I'll have less than 10 comics to get to have Dan entire life in issues. It's quite exciting.

Yup, issue 25 ends GR2099. Next up are 2 minis. The Hammercrap one and the recent one.
I agree about Len. It's rare to see a writer there for that long.
I guess I'm the only one who enjoyed Hammer Lane.
Okay, not really enjoyed... okay. The story sucked. Royally. But the art was at least good. And it had an issue 1/2. That's... umm... costly. Damn, I have 2 or 3 of those, I think.

#1/2 was the best one in this series imo
I didn't like the art for this series either, it was too cartoony.
I thought the story for hammer lane was decent. To simple of a story to be despised, yet to simple to be a great story either :(

Well, a lot of Dan's and Noble's story was developed outside of his run, like most of the characters I guess. My obsession wouldn't allow me to not get them all... and I only have less than 10 to get every single appearance ever. Yee Haw!

Not only do I have a list but, I'm very close to have it all in order of appearance. Most of the info comes from http://www.chronologyproject.com/ but, unfortunatly it has a couple year gap that I have to figure out myself. Also, they have in chronology considering all characters which doesn't necessarily work best for reading the comics. I'm editing a bit.

One can hope...when we last left Skinner, wasn't ke in his "true" skeletal form in S.H.I.E.L.D. or something? I loved his character...torn between his human family and his duty to Lilith...made for a more compelling villain.

As cool as the variants are sometimes, I really find the practice no different than the "gimmick" boom of the early-to-mid-nineties, where you had more focus on the triple gatefold diecut foil stamped hologram grilled cheese and onion cover than the content within.
Thankfully, it's not that bad anymore...

I don't have a total but, I know I have over 250 Dan Ketch appearances (including the run). I don't have near as many Blazes, approx 50 (not including the SOV titles, 23 of them which I have all of) and I'd say another 50 or more various things such as, minis, tpbs, graphic novels, reprints, poster books, magazines, marvel handbooks and such.
An educated guess would be around 400. Most of my collection is Ghost Rider. The rest is various other Midnight Son related material. I hope to have, by the time I die, the definiative collection of the occult/supernatural universe of the Marvel World.

Agreed. If I'm ever getting mugged, and I get saved by The Human Fly (after all, he's real!), I hope to somehow get killed in the ensuing scuffle instead of facing the embarrasment of being some schmuck who got saved by The Human Fly. That's one of the most...er...flamboyant characters since Northstar.
Seriously, the only thing that could possibly make him sillier is a pair of buccaneer boots.

It ain't just a bike, either. It's one of those weird inventions that are all curvy and pipey that Mr. Fantastic likes to pump out. That's the one thing I liked about FF...it seems like no matter who did it, Kirby's indelible mark was left. Even through the mid-Nineties (when I stopped reading it) it seems like everything looked like a giant Ultimate Nullifier.

Funny thing happened last night. I went to a late show of the Omen, and there was a trailer for Nic Cage's new flick the Wicker Man. In the first scene of the trailer, he walks up to car that blows up. He's thrown from the car by a ball of fire. At that point, ten or fifteen people in the theater yell out, "GHOST RIDER!" I thought it was pretty funny.

...and how, pray tell, should a hellfire-engulfed skull look?
I don't see how the FX argument can even apply. We're dealing with something that is unrealistic by design. If you were to actually have a flaming skull, you would see very little of the head. It would pretty much be a leather suit with a gout of flame coming out. There could be a duck's head or a lollipop in there, and all we could do is guess. I think the treatment looks as good as we could hope.
Even if the F/X are "unrealistic," how does this truly affect the quality of the film? If the story is good and the characters well-played and well-written, does a little "hokiness" on the part of the Ghost Rider himself suddenly drop it into the realm of "bad movie?"
I'll see you and all the other nay-sayers in line to see the movie.
Edit: sorry for continuing the train of silliness. Let's get back to the covers and how much FH rules for putting forth so much effort.

Dark Knight why do you even visit the Ghost Rider boards if you think it is going to suck so bad. You could have took the few minutes it took you to post each response to another board for a movie you think you will actually like and make both you and the readers happy, but instead you come in here. Doesn't make much since to me. I actually liked both Punisher and Spawn. I don't even look at who the director is when I watch a movie. They might direct the movie, but they don't always get a full choice in what is put together for the theatrical version of the film, thats what the directors cut dvd is for. I believe MSJ even said that a lot of Daredevil was cut for the movie and it wasn't his choice.

Ironically, he doesn't even mention DD in his rant about bad Marvel movies. If MSJ is such a hack, wouldn't that one be at the top of the list?
But enough negativity. Instead, let's revel in the sight of Black Goliath (which sounds like a movie starring Lexington Steele) getting smashed in the guts with the Champions' wannabe Fantasticar.

Today we return to Ketch. For the next while, I'll be posting his appearances and again, like for Blaze, I'll only post the ones where he's on the cover.
Reminder: Don't forget to sent your favorite cover suggestions!

Agreed. Walt Simonson is one hell of a writer, and Art Adams will always have a special place in my heart.
Art Adams art will always be a favorite of mine.
I was introduced to his art through the Marvel Universe cards, series 2. His Death's Head and Ghost Rider were spectacularly drawn. Overall favorites. Wish I had poster sized versions of each.

I really enjoyed this story as well though I find it funny that it happened so early in GR II's life.

The only actual issues I have from this arc and it's probably the best cover of the set.
If anyone doesn't have this series, there is a trade paperback of it out there, I believe, titled Monster's Ball. If you haven't read this story yet, pick up the tpb and read it.

Sp I am thinking about the facts with regards to this movie and I can't decide if it is going to suck or not. Here's the deal:
1. MSJ directed Daredevil - though the director's cut was decent, the effects were poor and the music cheesey - two things that play very heavily in this film, given the main character has a flaming skull and rides a bike.
2. Sony is behind this flick and it hasn't screwed up a Marvel property yet, so chances are it's giving MSJ the support and marketing push he needs, unlike Fox.
3. The movie was reshuffled which either means it sucks and is being burried or the studio is indeed giving it time to be done right, much like the case with V for Vendetta - a great film despite being reshuffled.
4. The first trailer was a solid one, especially given how much time the production still has. But we all know by seeing the X3 trailer - previews can be misleading.
Regardless, I am banking on MSJ doing the property right and will be there on a Friday to see it.

Optimistic, but cautious. It's a good way to be! Sometimes I think I'm setting myself up for a disappointment by getting too excited.
By the way, JRD, if you haven't already, check out the 'Questions Already Answered by MSJ' thread for info straight from the horse's mouth.

Ooh, on July 12th, you should post "Ghost Rider #1" by Way, Saltares, and Tex!
(Since the issue is being released on that day) :D
Excellent idea MM! Not only will I do that but, for every monthly release following, I'll do the same. Any additions help at this point as we're going run out of covers.
Speaking of which; Folks, don't forget to send me your favorite cover suggestions for the last 25 days or so.

I'm OK with a bare-chested Cage if Mendes gives us some bare booty.
Hey, it's all about compromise, right?
