I am MENTOK, I live in Australia and am about 25 years old. I am into pretty much everything. I am interested in any sport (a talent most Australians seem to have :D ) I dont read comics much anymore but I enjoy watching the films and *****ing on the boards with all you guys.
I am looking forward to SR. It wont be the new Superman film I wanted, but it will still be a beautiful film to watch.
I have been following the film since the DARK AGES. ie: THE NIC CAGE ERA. :o
Showtime

I am Showtime. Straight out of Boston MA. I am a 26 year old screenwriter. I am a big Boston sport fan and can appreciate any type of movie. I have always loved superhero movies and just recently started reading comics to research my next project. I believe that Singer will show us a Superman/Clark Kent that we have never before seen on screen. A Superman with weaknesses that we never imagined and a Clark Kent with an inner strength that you wouldn't believe.

How's it going, everyone. I'm a n00b, but not quite. I've been lurking since Chris Reeve died and they announced Brandon would be Superman. I finally just now decided to register and post because, hey, I figured there'd be a lot less ridicule posting in this thread then if I started a "omgz i am teh new!!" or if I, *GASP* posted my opinion in another thread.
I'm from Connecticut, in the USA. I'm 18 years old, and I love bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath, etc. I havent picked up a Superman comic since I was probably around 9 or 10 years old, but Superman will always be in my life.
As far as SR is concerned, I, like Mentok, have been begging to have this film made since Nicholas Cage was connected, all the way down to the McG days with Beyonce as Lois (bleghahhhhh..) I dig the costume but think the red could be brighter, I dig the script but thing Lois doesn't need a kid... but I have a hugely positive outlook on the film, something I noticed is kinda hard to come by here. Look forward to shootin the **** with everyone

Comic Book Boy here, I hope to post lots over the next year.
I'm 15 and I think BEGINS is the greatest comic film ever.
I am trying to stay optimistic about RETURNS. I love the 40's look. Singer is great, Routh has potential, the suit is not what I wanted but I think it could work.
Overall at this point in time, this film could be excellent or mediocure. I just can't wait to see Superman with modern special effects...:supes:

Hey I'm routhman, and I live in a tiny town in New Hamshire, but i'll just say Boston, MA because people have actually heard of it http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif...I am still in school, and I enjoy acting, playing hockey, and writing. I love women http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif...Brandon Routh is a great choice, at first I hated him; now hes Superman...Singer, he looks like he can pull this off....and the production all together, love it! I'm a teenager, and been following this movie(the rumored movies) for a while, I remember all the Nick Cage rumors...wow that was bad...I dont know exactly how long I've followed the film and rumors, but for a few years

Alo muchachos... I'm starvingartist, most people call me SA or Starvin' (and the occasional Starvin' Marvin') I am a gemini, I enjoy long walks on the beach, I like pina coladas and getting caught in the blah blah....nah really I'm 23, I'm an artist at the start of his career, just graduated college and currently on the lookout for any kind of job so that I can save up and plan my next move. I'm from all over the eastern seaboard of the good ole' US of A. I've been a superman fan ever since I owned a pair of Superman pajamas (the kind with the velcro cape. Sadly all I have now is a pair of spider-man boxer shorts and a slightly more adult sense of dignity and maturity..pshawww) I'm also into singing, playing guitar, chilling out, listening to music constanty (#1 favorite band: INCUBUS. Also love mr. bungle, nicklecreek, plus a binch of other random bands and a ****load of movie soundtracks.) Anyway, as for my thoughts about this movie...while I'm not all that enthusiastic about the suit, I am insanely excited for the prospect of a new Superman movie. I've been waiting for this since like, forever and have been following this movie since it's Nick Cage development hell.

My real name is Kasey. My handle is horrible, but I'm too damn lazy to change it. I'm 23, and live in the small town of Belfair, Washington, in the U.S. of A (near Seattle). Anyway, my hobbies include reading (books and comics), watching tons of movies, playing video games, watching professional wrestling, working out, analyzing the Superman films for special editions I've imagined in my crazy head, and I've also been playing the drums since I was about four. My occupation is personal training. I've been following the project since around 1992, when the Salkinds were going to do a fifth Superman film (until Christopher told them to get bent). Back then you actually had to buy magazines to find out what the hell was going on. My thoughts on the project are extremely optimistic, and I thank the heavens that we're not getting Superman Reborn, Lives, or even Flyby. I love Singer's work, and from the look (and just as importantly) the sound of Routh, I think I'll believe once again that a man can fly. :supes:

I started my comic collecting in 8th grade when I started reading the Knightfall series.
I am more of a fan of Batman, Hellboy, and Alan Moore (and Ultimate Marvel *dodges thrown sharp objects*), but kinda just recently got the "Superman bug" after reading Loeb and Sale's infamous "Superman for All Seasons." I'm a big fan of Timm and Dini's DC animated series.

I just turned 20 last Wednesday.
I technically hold two jobs. A paper carrier, and a page in the Youth services at the public library
My hobbies include reading, writing a Hellboy story (when i don't have writer's block) and watching tv and movies.

Hey, I'm Metropolis Man. I live in South Carolina and I'm 19. I have been a fan of supes since the tender age of 3 when I saw the Max Fleisher Superman cartoon, The Mummy Strikes. While, I may have seen images of Superman before, this is my first image of him that I can remember to this day. I used to get comics when I was younger up until I was about 10 or 11. I realized that I never actually read the comics too much, I just kind of looked around at the images of Superman. Just recently comics have sparked my interest and I'm loving DC right now. I've been following the film for a while. Near the time when they first acquired Ratner. I believe this Superman will have much more to offer than the past ones because of the technology. We're going to see things we've never seen Superman do before on screen. I feel confident in the cast as well as Singer to deliever us an amazing and unforgettable movie.

Hey everybody, my hobbies include collecting comics, toys etc. I'm 26 yrs. old. I've been into Superman since as long as I can remember, some of my earliest memories are watching Superman movies on tv and the old Superfriends cartoon.
I'm looking forward to Superman Returns, I'm trying to stay positive about it. Hopefully it will be big and fun, I'm just hoping Parker Posey doesn't stink it up, and hopefully it'll be more faithful to the comics in the sequels.

Strangely enough, my name is Kris. I am a 21 student from Scotland. I’m into films, comics, football (soccer), music, golf (hey, I’m Scottish) and a bunch of other stuff. I have been seeing my GF for over a year and half now. I have a part time job in a bookie’s (betting shop) while I’m at uni. 4
I have been a Superman, and comics in general, fan all my living memory. Superman and Batman have always been my favourites although I do lean slightly towards Superman. I am more a Pre-Crisis/ Superman: The Movie type of person. Although I’m glad to see Superman get back more to how he should be in comics lately.
I am in total support of Bryan Singer and his team. I have been following this movie for years and only since Singer came on board can I honestly say I’ve been looking forward to it. We have a classic costume, an unknown in the lead, something in the ilk of the Donner film, Spacey as Luthor and a really interesting sounding plot. I really can’t wait for the movie.

I'm very very excited for SUPERMAN RETURNS, but I kinda dislike the suit. And the whole thing with Lois' kid. That just doesn't sit well with me.
But, I am, first and foremost, A SUPERMAN FAN!

I've been a Superman fan since day one, like many of you, and read my first comic when I was approx. 3 years old (more like admired the pretty pictures:)), but have been a die-hard fan since then, and have been deeply engrossed in the mythos.
I'm stoked like you wouldn't believe when it comes to Superman Returns and if it were not for the blogs I probably would have rocketed to the moon in anticipation. When Bryan Singer was announced as the new director I had a HUGE geekgasum (who didn't, considering that a few months earlier we had Mcidiot...uh...McG?!). Initially I was opposed (for a micro-second) to Routh, but now think the world of him and can't wait, and I hope nothing but the best for him!
Peace,

PS: I'm also coo-coo for Batman...Begins was the best :)

Hello, my name is Brent and I am 22 years old. I was born in Texas, but unfortunately, I live in Alabama. I am currently unemployed, but I am working hard at finding a job. I like to read, fish, play video games, watch wrestling, and write compelling stories. I'm currently working on a DBZ story. If anyone is interested in reading the overview and storylines, feel free to PM me. My interests right now are 3D computer animation and video game development.
I am a very big Superman fan, and I have my parents to thank for that. They introduced Superman to me at the ripe old age of 3 years old by taking me to see Superman 3. I dont remember much, but I do know that the next months after it, I had a Superman bedspread, Superman pillow covers, Superman curtains, and Superman pajamas. I evcen had the Superman The Movie soundtrack on record. I also had the 1984 series Super Powers Superman action figures by the dozen. I had so many, I would sit in my closet and play good Superman and bad Superman all night long. Unfortunately, being hyper, I broke them faster than my parents could buy them. I got into the comics right after the death storyline, but kinda drifted after he came back.
At first, before I knew a lot about the new movie, I absolutely hated the suit with great intensity, but after seeing what Singer is doing with Superman, and after seeing and hearing what Metropolis is going to be like, I feel that the Superman suit should do just fine, considering the 40's feel of Metropolis. I have never had any doubt about Brandon Routh. I think that Brandon Routh was one of the most important casting decisions in this movie.

Hi, I'm Batsam and I live in Cornwall (land of the pasties) England. I basically am crazy about anything DC. I started on the old Adam West Batman series and just keep on expanding out. I'm 17 and a student with the hope of doing directing and writing for film. I also have an original comic in developement which I hope to push foreward. Oh and Hunter Rider I love your Avatar, Memento is a truely brilliant film.
Hi, I'm Elisha Cuthbert
Kidding :p My real name is Robert, I live in Ohio and am a big :supes: fan those that saw my collection will know I'm a nut about Superman :D next year besides the movie(which I will be there on first showing) I will be buying tons(literally!) of new Superman related stuff for my every growing collection :) I'm also a fan of others Marvel and DC characters but Superman will always be my favorite :) Been a fan of Superman since the early 70's thanks to a uncle reading the books to me and when I first saw the movie I was hooked and here I am a diehard Superman fan :)
Besides collectiong Superman stuff I also collect Doc Savage, old Snoopy stuff and Star Wars and Star Trek. Like to draw and photography, bikes rides, and watching sci-fi shows like Stargate, BattleStar Galactica, 4400 and more. I'm single, been that way since breakup with my ex(it was messy) and no kids. Oh yes I'm deaf :) been that way since birth, only have about 2% of my hearing left.

Interesting thread. I'm Sage, 21 years old, college student. Hobbies include writing, reading, weightlifting.
I've been a Batman and Superman fan for all of my life. I was first exposed to Batman thanks to 60s show reruns, then Batman 1989 changed the way I saw Batman. Prior to reading the comics, Batman the Animated Series was my bread and butter in learning about Batman and his mythos. Batman Begins is currently my favorite superhero film to date.
My first exposure to Superman was the Max Fleishcher cartoons via VHS copies, followed by George Reeves serial reruns on Nick at Nite. From there, Lois & Clark, Superman TAS, then Smallville. I saw Superman the Movie in its entirety nearly two years ago.
I'm looking forward to Superman Returns a lot. Been following this for over a year now since joining the SHH boards. The movie seems to be combining different interpretations of the character, Superman the Movie, the Fleischer cartoons and the George Reeves serials, all of which are some of my favorites, wrapped with an original story. The synopsis sounds fantastic, love the "Returns" angle and the epic scope it brings. Love the Metropolis design from what I've seen.

Hi...I'm AtomikSuperman, but everyone calls me Omar. I'm from a small town in Indiana, much like Smallville, and am working on a BA in Literature. I'm 21 and fancy myself a writer, even though I don't think I'm very good. I started becoming a Superman fan about 3 years ago when my college roommate, who happens to be a diehard batman fan and goes by the name Batman, began calling me Superman. Since then it's kind of stuck with me. I read a lot of books and comics, and have become quite the comic reader over the past few years. I watch a lot of movies, and try to play guitar. Last year I wrote a Superman script for my college Screenwriting class...I'm quite proud of it.

I have always liked Superman...watched The Superfriends on Saturday mornings when I was a kid (Challage of The Superfriends was my favorite Suoperfriends show) watched the reruns of Superman with George Reeves growing up and then the Chris Reeve movies. I also watched Lois and Clark and then finally Smallvile. I can't wait for Superman Returns! :supes:

I'm Thomas, from Norcal. I'm a motocrosser, and am looking to go to get a film degree or maybe a digital media degree or something. I grew up pretending to be Batman and Superman, so they will always be special to me. I've only read like 5 comics ever.
Real Name: Mike
Location: Bronx, New York
Age: 24 (until September)
Lifelong Superman fan. I work Midnight to 8am. I have my reservations about Returns but I'm mostly positive about the film and I like the cast. And, I have faith in Singer and crew...well a lot more faith then I would've had with McG and Ratner. I've been following the production of this movie since the Cage era.

Originally from Brooklyn, NY, then moved to Hawley, PA, now I live in Palm Coast, Florida...

I'm 21 years old. I was a Manager at BlockBuster and an Arcade, but now I am moving up in the world to a Car Salesman at Honda, making alot better money.

Fav. SuperHeroes:
MARVEL: The Incredible Hulk
DC: The Flash

In highschool I was a Wrestler, Football Player, and weight lifter...even though I never fitted well with the Jocks, because they considered me a freak. :shrugs: Which is why I told the Football Players to F**k off and joined the Wrestling, where oddly enough it was were all the non-jocks just crazy mo'fo's of the school were...so I liked it. My nickname there was "Bus"...

I am a writer. I've been attending college to be a Historian/Journalist, but I am planning on probably switching over to the medical field. I also enjoy writing poetry and short stories. Although I tend to spend to much time creating backgrounds and characters and plots, instead of actually putting it all together into a Novel. :shrugs:
-
I am a very easy going person and hate it when people start arguements for no reason. Even though I love to argue...I "try" to fair when it comes to everyones opinions, which usually makes me a middleman with my friends, like a Peace Keeper.
-
I've always loved coming to the SHH! because I've come to know everybody...not personally, but by wandering around and posting. It's all great stuff. I spend way to much time here sometimes though.
-
I also dislike arguements between America, Canada, and Britain...because my father grew me up, telling me how we are such great allies and together are the ultimate force in the world, and best of friends...so when I hear people *****ing at each other, it really gets on my nerves.

I have been a lifelong Superman fan, as well as a big fan of Batman. I remember, as most of you do, the first time I saw Superman the Movie. From there...well you should see my room, hell I wear a Superman ring (great conversation starter with the ladies btw). :supes:
The only things that match my love for Superman are: my family, Batman:batman: , The Boston Red Sox (er...World Champion Boston Red Sox, right JBrown? I too am a lifelong fan of the BoSox) and Nebraska Cornhusker Football. I also have an affinity for various model/actress types like Elisha Cuthbert, Adriana Lima, and...well you get the idea.:D
I pray almost nightly that Superman Returns turns out better than these bits and pieces we are getting are pointing to...I’m just glad it’s Singer and not McG who’s in charge.
I am a noob, but I’m working at getting more involved here (i’m almost to signature level). I have a distinct feeling Superman Returns (while not reaching the calibur of Batman Begins) will be a decent film, and (so long as that kid isn’t really Lois’) will be another good contribution to the Superman legacy.

Hey everyone. As my name suggests, I'm new to the boards, though I've followed SuperHeroHype for years, ever since it was just Spider-man Hype, so I guess you could call me a semi-noob. Anyway, I'm a college student majoring in info systems, and I've been a big Supes fan ever since I first saw the movies as a kid. I'd say I'm a light comic reader, I'm more into the movies, with Superman (well I and II anyway) being my favorites, followed closely by Spidey 1 and 2 and a tie for 3rd between X2 and Batman Begins. And I am absolutely psyched about Superman returning to the big screen, hence my recent interest in the boards. Glad to be here, and I hope to make lots of friends.

Dumb question here, but what is the definition of a "troll" as you refer to it here? (that way I'll know how not to be one :) )
A Troll is a person who posts outrageous message to bait people to answer. A Forum Troll delights in sowing discord on the forums. A troll is someone who inspires flaming rhetoric, someone who is purposely provoking and pulling people into flaming discussion. Flaming discussions usually end with name calling and a flame wars.
Trolls see Internet communications services as convenient venues for their bizarre game. To them, other Internet users are not quite human but are a kind of digital abstraction. As a result, they feel no sorrow whatsoever for the junk they post, and the insults they inflict. Indeed, the greater the suffering they cause, the greater their 'achievement'. At the moment, the relative anonymity of the net allows trolls to flourish.
Trolls are utterly impervious to criticism. You cannot negotiate with them; you cannot cause them to feel shame or compassion; you cannot reason with them. They cannot be made to feel remorse. For some reason, trolls do not feel they are bound by the rules of courtesy or social responsibility.
Perhaps this sounds inconceivable. You may think, "Surely there is something I can write that will change them." But a true troll can not be changed by mere words.
Don't become a troll.

Talk about BAITING people, SOWING discord, and PROVOKING folks! Try learning the difference between somebody who hates you and somebody who merely disagrees with you. And jeeze, stop stirring the pot. Please? Don't become a troll indeed.

what's the matter with you? so... you dont hate me... fine. thank you. why the hostility? coz i said that i dont visit the SV threads because of you? well, its the truth. im not proud of what ive done in the past, i admit. but my post was in no way implying that you are not a Superman fan. I stated that i dont visit the SV "forum" because i had some bitter experiences with you, and a few others. Where the hell did the fans, or even Superman come into this?
you just need a reason to bash me, huh? well, take your best shot. coz, this'll be your last. ive taken alot of crap from you in the past. granted that i acted like an a-hole at times, but you werent far from it either. ive never put anyone on ignore, but sadly... your latest post has made me think about it.

My turn. My name is Ruhan and my surname is van Vuuren thus the Ruhanv. I am 28 and South African but currently live in London. Used to live in New Jersey for a while as well.
I have been a Supes fan since around '79 when I saw STM in a theatre in South Africa. I went nuts with all the pyjamas, curtains, toys etc. I also used to believe I could fly and there are hardly any photos available of me around this time without a huge bump on my forehead. I had a 6ft cupboard in my bedroom and dived heat first off it nearly every day singing the Williams tune. My wife says that explains a lot. ;)
Today I am in IT management, married and love three things in life: wife, Rugby and Superman.
I have a very good feeling about this film and I am excited as hell about it. I recently started reading comics again. A director in our company walked past my desk and saw the Routh photo in my cubicle. He went nuts cause he hated the neckline, shield, boots etc. Turns out he is a HUGE fan that's in the closet and has been lending be loads of old issues.
Anyway this is a cool thread and it's great to see so many people from around the world on here.

I'm glad they got Singer as director, but I'm not 100% convinced in the direction he's taking the film. I want NO campness or 'cheese' whatsoever.

My real name is James Knighton, i'm 15 years old and live in the UK. My aim in life is to either create an animated series or a film trilogy about a team of superheroes. Which one I do will depend on what will be most likely to get off the ground.
My view on this movie is 50/50.. I can see myself either loving this movie like Batman Begins, or hating it like Spider-Man 2. I'll just have to wait and see.

My name is Brad. I was a screenwriter, or still trying to be, but am now slaving away at a communications company in Las Vegas. I used to live all over California, and in LA, but made the move to Sin City due to lower housing costs, a great job opportunity, and most importantly, the love of my life.
The benefit is that LA is a mere 3 hour drive away (at least at the speeds I drive) so I can still meet with my agent and go to meet and greets. Of course, I also get to live in a true 24 hour city that never sleeps.
I've worked as a PA and on script teams on a few television shows (yay for Genre Television) and been script doctor on a few indie films. Right now I'm putting together a project of my own. I have a BA in Film and Digital Media and an AAS in Network Administration.
I've been a fan of Batman all my life, with Superman a close second. I discovered Superman when my father handed down his Silver Age collection to me when I was but a youth. The first Superman story I remember reading was when I was 5 and it was a Mxyptlk tale. I wish I still had that issue.

I am batman44 (Chris really), 19 African American. Really looking for a job rightnow, but I know God will bless soon. I'm not in school right now, but I'll be going back in the spring semester for art and filmmaking. hobbies are drawing, playing drums, watching movies and Tv (love cartoons), play games, read comics, and just flat out having a good time. I also like listening to all types of music, though I can't really get into most pop and country. Some of my black friends find it shocking that I like rock or that I really like classical and gospel, say I don't look it..........whatever. :p
I'm a pretty goofy guy and easy to get along with.....well imo anyway. But if you didn't really know me you probably think I'm a quite guy. Some people call me church boy cause I like going to church (mine n-e-ways) + I never had sex, smoked, and etc, doesn't really bother me. Superman and Batman are by far my two favorite comic characters, they both tie for #1. About Superman Returns, I cannot wait for this movie, I never had the feeling of watching Superman on the big screen and I'm hoping that it's a good movie. Same scenerio I had with Batman, my parents never took me to see Batman at the movies, so BB was very special to me.
Superman Returns, Nintendo Revolution, and turning 20 in the same year= 2006 Rocks  :supes:

Hi there, been lurking for the longest time though I guess I'm just too lazy to post. Or scared of the feisty reputation this place has  he he.
Me:
My name is David, I'm 23 and just graduated from Music college with my degree in Jazz music. I'm now a professional musician, playing, writing, recording etc various projects & bands alongside my main solo career I'm trying to launch. I also teach music, produce and record other people's music.
Making ends meet with that doesn't leave time for much accept my love of all things Superman! And I've been hooked since I was a kid with the movies, and recently since my late teens come to really love the mythology and what Superman stands for. I dont read much of the comics (dont know where to start the history of its all so huge!) although have a few of the graphic novels, but I do collect Superman T-Shirts ha ha i'm a nerd!
Superman Returns Thoughts In General & Singer:
As much as I love the CR movies Superman has always been bigger than just that one interpretation for me. I've been dreaming of a new movie for over a decade and so now the real deal is finally coming I'm not too picky about the details we are currently aware of. I say currently because context and story are abviously things we're very much in the cold with until we see the movie, and people often forget that those are crucial.
My main concern/worry over the last 10 years has been the "modernising" and "updating" of Superman. Changing it beyond recognition to something what it has never been. We've had some dark scary moments over the last decade with Nic Cage, Burton, McG and co. and so when I think about what could have been, I'm so glad that Singer has professed a LOVE for the heart of the character. That Clark is the disguise and Superman is the hero. I love that Superman is the a shining light of hope in this "tortured super-hero" world we are surrounded in today.
I've never wanted a Clark with issues to be honest, as a kid I never related to Batman or Spider-Man the way other people did. And whilst I understand why people do connect to them:- i.e the "darkness" of humanity and what can be justice, or the "regular nerd with powers" thing, I looked to Superman as something to aspire to. He doesn't really complain or whinge even when the worlds against him, and will go to the ends of the earth to adhere to the law and protect not only the people but the ideals he believes in.
That to me was, and still is far more appealing than finding solace in the mortal superhero's that its "ok" to be weak sometimes because we're all human. Superman isn't human just by the very name, and I'm not saying he should never "feel" anything, or struggle with his decisions or judgement, of course not. But CR portrayal was always so optimistic and powerful that it left you feeling inspired and believed that maybe somewhere out there, there is a kid on a farm bench pressing a tractor.
So Singer going after a little of Donner is by no means a bad thing for me. I believe we're getting the real character, and so long as that is coupled with the right acting then I cant see it losing, but more on BR in a bit. Whilst so many films are contemporizing and dating themselves firmly in today, Singers photography and design is looking truly unique & remarkable.
I know some people have been worried about this; about it looking too 40's or too SkyCaptain like. But I imagine that it is not going that far, but just taking the Fleischer era as a base to then layer the modern day world on top of. The colour tone and some of the style yes harks back to the 30/40's giving it this beautiful warmth (coupled with the cinematography drroooll) that to me is symbolic of Superman in general. Yet the technology within the film (not whats used to make it) is going to clearly root it in where we are about now. i.e the flat panel tv screens, lex's boat & all the shots of CK running around the streets of Met. about to :supes: certainly look and feel contemporary to me.
We've had very little real footage or pics to really get too concerned over if it's going to be too much this way or that way yet. I think when the full trailer hits after xmas maybe sometimes then everything will start to make sense.
Routh & The Suit:
I fell for the suit the first time I saw it. Yep I thought the red was dark but accepted it and did think it worked against the blue and BR skin tone. And since seeing it in context with the tone of Met. colours, am completley sold on it. Love the S on the belt, and everything kind of feels tweaked at the edges to make it look a little less 70's.
Again I'm not a die hard S:TM purist so I can, and will accept the changes. But to be perfectly honest, its blue, red(butdark) and yellow, he's got boots, pants over the tights, a belt, a cape and an S on his chest. It's Superman, what more do we want? The suit has changed with every incarnation through the comics and live actons over the years and to me this looks wonderful. I mean come on its not like its, and I quote "Matrix Style" or whatever else was conceptualized over the last 10 years.
It looks like Supes. Show it to anyone and ask who its sposed to be, unless they've never been exposed to pop-culture you'll get the right answer. I think that is the ultimate thing. Sure its a little weird right now because we've all got our own definitive idea of how it should be, and 9/10 that probably is the Reeve suit, but I'm sure that when we see it in context in the movie a lot of people will be totally won over with the way it works.
Now Mr BJR. Originally I was kinda gunning for the guy we cant talk about . However I did some soul seraching and thought about it some more and a month or so before BR was revealed I decided that an unknown was very important to me. Because as great as I thought TW looked I know too much about him to really suspend my belief for 2 hours in that a man can fly. I would be subconsciously looking at the screen thinking "thats TW in the suit".
Right now I have next to no info on BR like everyone. We've never seen him act, and we havn't had the media machine feed us every nasty detail about him (YET! :( ) . So seeing these stills, I'm captivated and so anxious to see the movie, becuase I know that watching him play that role for the first time I have the potential to feel the same way I did when seeing S:TM for the first time.
Right now I just have to trust that Singer has made the right choice acting wise in BR. The way he delivered the "grave yard" line in the blog22 made me realise his voice is amazing, and I'm completley sold on his look so that only leaves the final physical performance of Kal-El and the bumbling Clark that we're told BR oozes naturally. So i'm being optimistic, but we will have to wait and see.
As for his build, bah..I cant moan I'm 6' and a 165 pound weakling so I'm not gonna rip on him saying he's skinny. I think for a live action Superman he's gonna be fine. Once again we have so little context to put the images we've seen of him in yet. At 6'2'' & the way his mass looks, h'es gonna look great. I'm definatley a believer in a NON body buiilding superman (I really dislike the Ross art & and O'Hearn for example) i think he should be big and muscular and toned but not enormous. Reeve was great, I was watching how much he towered over Perry and Jimmy the other day in SIII and thought if BR is only an inch shorter than CR then for me at least, he's gonna be fine build wise.
Ha ha and after seeing that Gym pic, I think a lot of people putting his body down will have to eat the their words or go into further state of denial :supes:
Well I guess that sums it up, first post and quite a long one...I imagine most of it wont get read, but its been good to actaully vent my thoughts. I so far am loving what I'm seeng and the bits I'm not, I'm being hopefull and optimistic for. Afterall we've waited this long and endured a rollercoaster ride of production nightmares that I think however it turns out from this point, we're getting a sweet deal! I know its part of human nature to look for the faults and negatives in life, even in the things we love...but I'm trying not to with this movie. It's the one i've really really been waiting for!
So, there it is, and here I am.
Nice to meet you all

Well I've floated around here with different usernames over the past few years and I was a long time lurker until Begins flushed me out of hiding. Great film by the by. I'd followed Batman since JettD60's batman 5 page was around, so somewhere around seven or eight years. I'm 20 and a Deck Seaman in the United States Navy, I'll be going to A school to become a journalist hopefully pretty soon. I've held varied levels of activity on this site in the Begins forums, this forum and the community forum. I will someday finish my BA in Political Science and move on to bigger and brighter things but for now I'm content as a public servant. I'm looking forward to Singers adaptation, I think it won't be perfect but better than any of our other possibilities have been. So heres to what will probably be a good superhero flick.

Oh what the hell, here goes: My name is David (as you can tell by my highly original username http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif), I'm 31, and I live in Sacramento. I work at a title company to pay the bills, but my main passion is sculpting and scratchbuilding (and watching the Kings, who apparently suck this year). I usually go back and forth between sculpting busts of figures and scratchbuilding models with styrene, depending on the mood I'm in.
Before I caught the SR bug I was building scale models of different Enterprise bridges (the pilot, TOS, TWOK, and TNG) which the people at the starshipmodeler boards seemed to like. I also like to make oddball things like a 3 foot long fossilized Triceratops skull or a paper Transformer. I've got a ton of projects I want to start on, and should be busy for oh, the next 20 years or so.
But right now it's all Superman, all the time for me. I already finished a Routh and Fleischer sculpture, and now I'm trying to sculpt a better head for an old Chris Reeve bust. And then I'll move onto Kirk Alyn hopefully...
Yeah I know it doesn't sound like the most exciting life, but it works for me. http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I love comics, movies and everything related. I'm a self-employed web/graphic designer and photographer. I'm also a half left-handed, meaning that i use my left hand for drawing or writing only.
one more thing, even though my name sounded like an 'arab' or 'muslim' name, i'm in fact not and far from that. i'm of a chinese descend born in indonesia, the 4th generation since my great grandfather.
i have a website where i display some of the stuffs i made whenever i'm not busy with works, please drop by some time at http://www.iskandarsalim.com (http://www.iskandarsalim.com/)one more thing, even though my name sounded like an 'arab' or 'muslim' name, i'm in fact not and far from that. Ahhh maybe I'm mis-reading this, but that came off a little racist. I'm arabic, and muslim. If my name seemed chinese, I wouldn't say even though my name sounds chinese, I'm far from it.

This is a nice thread.
My name is Clint, like Eastwood. I'm 29 and live in South Carolina, which is a very boring place. I am thinking of moving to Austin, Texas, for reasons that will be hinted at in the following info about me. I live in a duplex by myself and have a job I hate immensely.
My user name is based off of Solid Snake, a character from the Metal Gear games. I consider those games to be the best video game series of all time for it's wonderful stories, excellent characters, and of course, because the games are terribly fun and well made. The Metal Gear Solid games are one of the reasons I got a PS2 and the third Metal Gear Solid game may directly influence my decision to get a PS3 if I choose to do so.
I love movies. I have over 350 DVDs (which is small time to some, I know) and I tend to watch a movie or two every day. My tastes go from old classics like Casablanca to big epics like Lawrence of Arabia to modern day comic book movies like Batman Begins. With my tastes though, I have been often times called a "film snob", as I will dismiss movies made by Michael Bay and PWS Anderson just for example (there are many other directors I despise) because I consider them pure dreck.
I make short movies with a group of people that right now, I have doubts about because they can't keep up with my ambitious and driven nature. If I was in control, we would have a lot more to show people. This is a serious source of disappointment to me, and one of the reasons I am thinking of moving. I need a group of filmmakers/creators that is just as dedicated as myself.
Just to give you an idea of what type of stuff we make, here is a small clip from our upcoming short. This was edited at about 6 am last night (or this morning). There will be a lot more to the full version...hopefully.
Army Dudes (http://youtube.com/watch?v=CvLP4cXG9KA)
As said, I have an interest in movies. I also have an interest in World War 2, and love to discuss it. It's one of the most important events in history, and it encompasses types of events that still to this day happen. The heroism during that time -- from all sides and all places -- is an amazing testament to humanity. It's also hugely fascinating and deep with stories of accomplishment.
Superman Returns is my most anticipated film of all time right now, and is equal or sometimes below my anticipation for the Star Wars films, which with the exception of Revenge of the Sith was a large disappointment to me. I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and have spent thousands on merchandise such as figures, posters, games, soundtracks, books, and of course, the movies (although I do not own the first two prequels). Like the original '78 Donner Superman, I grew up with these movies and still greatly love them to this day.
I mostly post here and this board is the reason I started an account. Hello to all!

I'm Rob. I'll be turning 21 in 18 days, I'm a third year animation student at the School of Visual Arts. I'm into movies, comics etc.
I have been a Superman fan since literally before I can remember. By the time I was 4 years old I'd seen episodes of The Adventures of Superman, Fleischer's Superman, all 4 Reeve movies, the Ruby Spears Superman show was still on and Superboy was just starting, along with the many many Superman comics I had.
Batman I don't know when I became a fan, but I think B89 was the big cause for my love of that character.

I'm Spike (Scot) and I live in New Brunswick, Canada and I'm 18 years old. I enjoy Role Playing in the DC Comics forum, weightlifting, reading, writing, running, science fiction in comics, movies, television, etc. I'm a huge fan of Superman's rogues, I hate the copout/use of kryptonite, Doomsday, Kryptonian villains and technology, or red sun radiation that some writers feel they need to create a physical threat to Superman. I'm a veteran of the CINO forums and founder of the Haturz Justice League. I dislike posters who don't try to add to a thread's conversation other than to annoy (Jplaya, roy), which is why I don't go to Community. I work on basically any physical labor jobs that come my way (by all definitions, I am a lumberjack, in fact).
I really do like the choice of actors in SR, but the plot and the semi-sequelness to Superman 2 piss me off. The costume's not what I wanted, the idea of Lois having a kid sucks IMHO, the spitcurl doesn't look like an S as it's supposed to, and the lack of LexCorp and Hope & Mercy tick me off. The lack of superpowered villains is something that I think of as a lost opportunity, but it won't ruin the movie for me.
I am really excited for Superman Returns, but not as excited as I hoped I would be.

My favorite is Superman, and my favorite villian is Solomon Grundy, next to Darkseid and Brainiac. I hope that they would put Grundy in a movie, but it's a longshot. I 'd love to see the fights with Superman, and how they would do him visually. I watch the Superman cartoon on Boomerang every night at 11:30 along with Batman. I own the films on tape, hoping to upgrade to DVD when the collection comes out. I'm looking foward to the new Superman film, hoping that they was away everything that was the attempted making of Superman in the 90's.

It seems Mank gets more credits than he really deserves. He polished the STM and SII scripts, sure, but there was also some great writing by Puzo, Benton and the Newmans.

Hey guys, my name is Carlos, and I've been a devoted follower of the Super Hero Hype since the announcement stages of the first Spider-Man film. I am a lifelong comic book fanatic, and Superman has been at the core of my devotion to this medium for more years than I care to count. I'm 23 years old, and I moved out to Los Angeles to pursue a music career (I've been playing drums since I was 10). So far, so good...
In regards to SR, I honestly can't complain. I was skeptical about Routh at first, but he won me over a long time ago, and look forward to his interpetation of the character(s). Bryan Singer is the man, and the rest of the cast looks stellar to me. I also love food very, very much...

I am Elmer J Fudd, millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht.
I am Fatboy Roberts. Real name Bobby. So Bobby Roberts. Study that for a second and I'll pause while you laugh and clown my parents for being as blissfully redundant as possible.
I'm a professional smartass. I do a radio show here in Portland, OR, you can click the link in my sig to listen to it, but basically, I get paid to do the kind of crap I've been doing on the internet for free, for the past decade. Basically, jump around messageboards, read entertainment and political news, and make smartassed comments about it. Only now I do it in front of a microphone for money.
Not so much a newcomer to this place, but my post count does not reflect how often I've visited over the years (I remember this site being born as simply Spider-Man Hype) and I'm no stranger to the kind of mildly controlled chaos that pre-release messageboard nonsense can be--I used to admin at corona's coming attractions, and was a moderator at Star Wars.com for a goodish amount of time as well. So if I seem arrogant and tired and snarky--it's because I am, because I've seen a lot of what these boards have to offer and it's often just as redundant as my real name is. Which is frustrating ;)
Hobbies are reading, movies, and producing up music/sound-editing. I've been a Superman fan since I can remember. I've got a girl I live with and a big family and a decent pad from where I can log online and talk copious amounts of yang in comfort :) I'm 5'6" and a little chubby, hence the nickname, which I got in High School during an embarrassing basketball game in short John Stockton shorts.
So there's my resume/personal ad. Thanks for reading. :)

I'm from India. I'm 19. I'm studying animation at the National Institute of Design in India.
I'm a writer, animator, illustrator, filmmaker when not being a superhero and comic-book freak.
I'm really excited about Superman Returns. But the greatest joy I get is when I share that excitement with people who don't know anything about it.
Thanks to these forums, I get to look like an expert on the whole production history in front of friends and family.
This is probably the best forum here. Let's hope we keep posting beyond the release of the movie.
Cheers.

Vladimir....
Born in New York City, raised in the Dominican Republic. Moved permanently to New York (from DR) July 7, 1993. Moved to Orlando, FL in August 2000.
Met my girlfriend over the internet. (reason to come to Orlando)
Sports are my life and is my second income (investing on them). (except Hockey, Tennis, Golf, Women's sports in general, most of the Olympic games and Arena Football. I only watch soccer at the World Cup)
Favorite sports team: NY METS (hardcore fan). We will FINALLY win NL East division this year and we have the team to go all the way! (and I dare someone to tell me the opposite).
I am a Superman fan (both STM and Superman II). But I don't buy the comics.
There you go!...

I enjoy superhero movies and Superman: The Movie is my favorite movie of all time.
As a kid I thought he was so cool because he was so compassionate and had all those powers
I don't read the comics, but have enjoyed the other movies(not Superman IV) and the tv shows- Adventures of Superman, Lois and Clark and Smallville.
I've only seen a few of the animated series.
I've been lurking on SHH off and on since Spider-Man
Other stuff
I love movies of all genres- especially classics. I collect watches. I have over 60 and they include 5 Superman ones, 3 Spider-Man and 1 Batman. They all sit on top of a DVD storage that spins around. It also has a couple of Superman figures, a bank that shows Clark turning in to Superman, a Spiderman, Batman and Hulk figure. I'm not a collector though if I had my own place perhaps maybe I would
I enjoy music, reading, history, genealogy, crossword puzzles

Ok well here goes....
Name is Hadden. Originally from North Carolina. But I now live in the Ft Worth Texas area. I am 22, married with 2 wonderful baby girls. I have been in the U.S. Marines for 5 years now and just got selected to SSgt. My interests are anything sports but mostly basketball and golf. I have played For the all Marine Corps golf team for 2 years and hope to someday make it on the PGA Tour. My favorite teams include any team from University of North Carolina Chapel Hill(especially Tarheels basketball.)
Never been a really big comic book fan, but have always loved the movies starting with STM and SII. I am psyched about Singer directing this film. I thought he was a wonderful choice. I hope Routh does a great job, he seems ok so far. And I have no problem with the suit. Anything else you want to be bored with just ask.

My name is Edison. I work as a grapestomper in the summer, but mostly I pay the bills by under-rigging 5x5 pipes of 40-watt phased plasma tubules into Scopes monkey trials out of my garage. I like ham radios. In my spare time I occasionally airbrush picturesque Americana images of eagles and wild stallions onto my van. I am single.
