I really don't understand why they didn't use him more. His power is so visually interesting, second probably only to Storm. and it's a pretty simple effect.

the sound of his blast is different in every movie though, I think X2 is my favorite.

I know, it would have been so cool to see him blasting Brotherhood members back left and right at the end battle in X3. Alas, it was not meant to be.

This has probably been asked a million times, but... at the end of X2, why didn't Scott just BLOW THE RAMP open whenever Storm couldn't get it to lower, and then go get Jean? What was stopping him? Nobody ever said not to, and it's not like the plane hadn't already survived having ONE hole punched through it earlier in the movie.

X2 is my fav too! And I think in X3 when he took off his glasses made more of a raw/free sound to it, rather than in X2 when his visor was sort of a silencer.

This was another cool issue. Cyclops was stuck in the middle of a desert with a ragtag group (some of them were Acolytes, if I remember correctly), and he led them safely to a former X-Man outpost. At one point, a mountain is in their way and one of the Acolytes says something about it would take forever to get around it. Cyclops says something to the effect of, "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line", then blasts a hole through the mountain for them to walk through. Cool stuff.

That scene probably was cut to make the movie flow better, because they had to show Deathstrike getting up again while he's beating on the guard. If they didn't have to focus on Deathstrike in that moment, I'm sure the scene would've still been in there. After all, after he beat the guard down you can see Cyclops letting go of the club he had in his hands.

(Sorry I am new here, and English isn't my native language.)Haven't seen X3 yet......cause it's not even available in where I live till 16 June. Though I Know that there won't be much screentime of Cyclops I still will go to see it.........Yes, spend the money on the ticket just for ten-minutes Cyclops.......I really wish the film studio should listen to what other people truly think. American comics are not quite popular in Taiwan, but there're still some small groups of fans here, and most importantly, most of us like Cyclops more than Wolverine.......I think even Magneto gets more fans than Wolverine, maybe they should change the X3 movie subtitle for "Hugh and Halley's Big Adventures".........at least that's what we call it in Taiwan. Ah, and I do like the way James Marsden plays Cyclops, he becomes my favorite actor since X1.
And, since people here seem to know more about the X Men History(Comics I mean.), can anyone kindly tell me which storyline has best part of Cyclops in it? Cause there are so many-The Ultimate X Men, Uncanny X Men, New X Men.......that really confuse me. And I'm so tired of having to ask the clerk "Please just point out which one has Cyclops in it!"

The story would take place a few years after X3,when a rebilitated Magneto(who still hasn't got his full mutant powers back) gained sovereignty by the UN of the mutant paradise of Genosha. So the plan by Apocalypse would be to destroy the nation with the help of trusty Sentinals.

Finally cyclops gets the leading role he deserves, when he suddenly meets his long lost brother Alex and we meet Madelyne Pryor whom he is not sure of but has a child with anyway Nathan (in which Sinister kidnappes) and in the end he yells SINISTER!!! at the top of his lungs instead of X3.

It sounds great but the way it would be written would make a movie like that long 140 mins. plus and expensive 300 mil. plus. but who gives a ****.

Instead of Cyclops heading the show, Gambit actually makes an apperence and truly helps save the day. Unlike X3, there won't be an overload of characters but there will be new additions: Havok, Gambit, and just maybe Polaris. Maybe the mansion will be destroyed, Wolverine will finally get a smaller role, and Colossus will get more than three lines and might go toe to toe against Juggernaut and they'll get Storm to shut the **** up.

This is just an abbrieviated outline of this future X4 and since this is just in its early stages the working title is X-Men 4 Children of the Atom
release date:May 9, 2009.

P.S. wouldn't been beter if they pushed back X3 a month or two so Jimmy Marsden would fit the schedule better, plus I felt the film was a bit rushed.

We all know by now the 'Jimmy schedule' is bs.
And in my opinon 'a bit rushed' is an understatement. the film was a collection of scenes that didn't work well on their own or as a whole.

Anyway, Jean and Scott did ultimately reconcile and get back together. Emma was traumatized and wound up in the infirmary for a while. Then Jean died and eventually Scott got together with Emma, because I guess he has a thing for telepaths. :confused: ;)

Personally speaking, ever since Grant Morrison took over writing New X-men, Cyclops and Jean were basically doomed. Pre-Morrison, Scott Summers was the madly in love, adoring, doting husband that many people are familiar with ;)

Also, those were the times I enjoyed reading about Scott the most as well. But I still think that in the end, under lotsa retcons and complicated storylines, Scott will probably end up being with Jean again. It might take two decades to get there, but I'm thinking it'll happen.

You can get them on ebay, i found them pretty hard to get at first. There's two different covers for each issue, well except issue 4. But they're a good read :)

I think the future of the character is really up to us at this point. Fans CAN make a difference.

On TV:

Bottles of Tobasco Sauce from Roswell fans convinced the network to renew the series.

A year long letter writing campaign convinced Star Trek The NExt generation to bring back Gates McFaddden as Dr. Beverly Crusher after they had replaced her in season 2.

I don't have movie examples except maybe JAR JAR BINKS beiing almost non existent after his first appearance in Episode 1.

Maybe we should organize something. Like have the same letter and assign people to send it to FOX so that we can ensure they get a letter everyday until we hear there will be an X4 and Marsden is signed on.

If they get bombarded from different addresses all over the country and the world, they will realize Scott's popularity and that they couild have just as big a hit without Logan, because people aren't flocking to these movies for Wolverine, but for the X-Men as a team!

Stupid question time. How is Scott not being apart of the X-Men going to actually affect the future? The movieverse obviously didn't seem to care about that little fact, and if Warsong is any indication Cyclops's fate is still looking pretty grim.

The specifics are left vague - Jean looks into the future and sees that, without Scott's leadership to aid in the X-Men's battles, the world is a post-apocalyptic wasteland. So somehow, Scott is going to turn the tide of saving the world, apparently.

Obviously the movies are a separate dealie, but you can always pretend that they aren't and that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is doomed to roam a wasteland because of how they let Scott die and didn't even care. Rock on. :p

I don't think anything bad will happen to Cyke in Warsong. Do you really believe those preview pages that show Scott dying on the FIRST PAGE of the FIRST ISSUE of the mini? I mean, c'mon. That'd never happen.

It's gotta be a dream sequence. Emma's probably just having nightmares.

Issue 3 opens up with Emma desperately trying to talk to Jean by using Cerebra. Great little monologue.

"This is you, isn't it, Jean? Punishing me for my sins? All right. I stole your husband... but he's HAPPIER now, you understand that, don't you? You're practically INFINITE, part of the whole damned universe... can't you forgive me? Can't you just look look into my soul and see the... see the LOVE there? Jean? .... God, I sound like an idiot."

Four pages in, Scott talks about how things ended with Jean. - "I'll probably feel guilty over the way I handled my marriage with Jean 'til the day I die."

Another fun scene with Jean and Logan... Logan attempts to kill Jean roughly by impaling her SIX TIMES. Unfortunately, the Phoenix inside of her body isn't really letting it happen.

Um, that's pretty much everything that happens worth mentioning in #3.

Scott/Jean fans will HATE the cover of #4, which recreates the famous image of Scott in agony as he holds Jean's body... only now, he's holding Emma. Personally, I love it, of course. :p

So it's issue 4, and the Phoenix reveals that she needs to feed off of Scott's optic energy in order to maintain ultimate cosmic power. I'm not sure why she wouldn't just go to the sun or something, like she did in Dark Phoenix Saga...

...oh. Apparently, that's just what Phoenix is claiming is what she wants. Actually, she needs Scott's LOVE, because she's feeling Jean's longing for Scott. Awwwww.

Fantastic little monologue from Jean/Phoenix to Cyke: "I'm here, and always will be... with you and within you. You dreamed of me when you were an orphaned child. Your heart jumped the day we met. And you'll reach for my hand the day you die. I love you, Slim."

Cyke's plan? Kitty's hand is phased into his chest. If Phoenix takes one step closer to him, to try to use his optic blasts to feed... Kitty squeezes his heart into paste.

How awesome is that?! :eek: Good plan, Scott.

But of course, Emma shows up to save the day. And she offers to let the phoenix force possess her body. Ultimate self-sacrifice act, because she knows that as soon as it's in her, Beast clamps down the containment shell and it's done.

Of course, Cyclops... ever the noble hero... is the one who shoves her into the shell, clamping it down on BOTH of them. Ultimate Self-Sacrifice X2! :eek:

Time for Issue 5.

And of course, it doesn't work anyway because Emma isn't nearly as strong as Jean is, and she can't contain the Phoenix Force. So Emma goes ape**** and annihilates the shell and starts walloping the team. d'oh.

This is where things get really confusing... because the Phoenix Force has abandoned Jean's body, Jean is now frozen the in the ice below, seemingly dead... but Scott melts the ice with his blasts, and then suddenly Jean's alive again, because, according to Jean, the Phoenix is always her and she's always the Phoenix. They are each other. Errrrr. Okay.

So Jean goes up to Dark Emma and tells the Phoenix "Get out of that stupid body." Classic. :up: :)

Jean gets full up with Phoenix power again, and she starts to realize the insanity of it... she'll always come back to life, she'll always become Dark Phoenix, she'll always destroy the world...

So Scott and Emma give her all the love she can possibly handle. Emma and her three favorite students, the Stepford Cuckoos, use their telepathy to mentally contact EVERYONE WHO'S EVER BEEN AN X-MAN EVER. And they all pour out their feelings of love and and admiration for Jean. Yes, even Emma! :eek:

Emma and Jean both start to cry, overwhelmed by the love Jean is receiving through Emma. Emma is all "God, Jean, how does it feel... to be LOVED so much?" Phoenix is sated, the Shi'ar show up to shoot her just in case, and Jean closes the book on Phoenix yet again... but not before asking Scott to show her his eyes one last time. Which of course, he does. Cool.

Scott cries about how Jean saved them all again, and Emma talks about how Jean is so incredible, because she can still feel all the things people felt for her and all the things she did for the ones she loved, and basically everybody loves Jean, even the people who used to hate her, and then it ends.

Cliffhanger - The phoenix force visits the Stepford Cuckoos. CRAP.

Endsong is a great read...and sad ending....basically secured that pheonix will always be jean..Comics are good to read they aren't confusing once you know what to read...keep to the Canon titles only..alternative one are just mostly limited anyway

yea i have 2 agree and say astonishing x is the best xmen book out right now. ive dropped the other books due 2 my budget but i have 2 say this series is worth my money.i cant wait for the new issue @ the end of the month. i got the cure TPB in the beginning of the year and bought the single issues for danger arc. i got the limited edition cover for issue #7 with the team sketched in black & white and cyclops the only one in color. i have 2 say its one of my favorite all time covers. dont sleep on this series. rereading it has got me by after seeing x-men 3. lol. peace.

A) I know that I'm not the only one, but i barely even noticed Jean's character until the end of the second movie, so her death (BOO-HOO) isnt that much of a shock. Anyone that has ever seen a superhero movie, could have read the fact that she was going to die right from the start of the movie, and you knew Wolverine was going to do it.

B) Cyclops - OK, we get it, you all like cyke, he is a great character IN THE COMIC BOOK! As far as the movies go, he was always a whiny little prick who's only claim to fame was to repeatedly be possessive of his woman. What kind of a character is that? not a good one, or in the least bit likeable. Good ridence, I'm glad he died, and as for any chance of him coming back.. unlikely. If there is a Cyclops movie, it will be completely unrelated to these movies, and uhoh, because of the fame of these movies, that would be impossible. CYCLOPS IS GONE, AND I AM GLAD that i didnt have to sit through the movie with him whining the whole time.. if she didnt kill him at alkali lake, he probably would have whipped out a mirror, and taken himself out ;) .. and hopefully that would have been in the first 15 minutes too. SEVERAL people cheered out loud in my theater when cylops died, so dont be stupid, im not the only one that thinks this way. Cyclops will not be seen in a mainstream hollywood movie for a LONG time if ever. X-men had its time, and that time is up. I would welcome a 4th movie, but ONLY if Cyclops doesnt come back. I find cyclops to be an animal inside a cage... ... but he only lets it out when he's...in a moment with Jean. heh.

but besides that, he's a leader, a good one at that, and he doesn't take s*** from no one and does the job done... ... right? In a way...

I don't think the character is that bad in the movie - like I say, I think he got the shaft and from the general audience perspective, he's not so impressive. But I think Marsden did a good job and that if you look for good things about Movie!Cyke you can see them (his promise to Xavier in X1, his little moment with Jean in the museum at the beginning of X2, etc).

And sure, James Marsden is some nice eye candy - I'm not afraid to admit that I like looking at him. But I like looking at Hugh Jackman too, so....*shrugs*

If you follow the older X-Factor issues, you'll find that Cyclops actually has a very convoluted past. From the orphanage to Mr. Sinister, there is a whole lot of material they could've touched upon but failed to do so. Well Singer was'nt done developing Cyclops. I believe, had Singer done X3 we would'nt get the Cyclops we saw in X3 nor would Wolverine be playing leader.

God I am so glad all these people got their dumb action movie that they always wanted, good for them. Thank god the people who made this movie were smart enough not to litter the movie with such boring worthless characters. Oh wait, Storm was one of the stars.

I only ask, would Toy Story have been better if they had just forgot about Woody and foccused on Buzz.

I really don't understand why they didn't even try with Scott, he is a great character and so is Rogue. In the movies she is the heart not the brawn. To call her worthless when she drove the plot in X men is really astonishing, sure I want to see her use her power in battle but she is not worthless. Scott I hate to say is more worthless in terms of the movie, but that's just because Fox are too stupid and apparently so are the main audiences. Even though a lot of people loved the animosity of Scott and Logan in the first movie. If Scott is so crappy then why has he been the star of the comics for forty years. And Storm sucked in the last two movies, but they tried again to make her interesting (failed though).

:( Oook, I don't check the forum for a whole day and look what I missed out on. Heh, joking.

My thoughts: Movie Cyclops seemed duller than the comic Cyclops sure, but it was probably due to the fact that there was so much story and character intros in X1, lots of drama in X2, and even more drama and characters in X3. He never had the time onscreen to shine, you know? Whereas comic Cyclops, well, he's the leader! And gets plenty of focus. Well, from what I've read of the comics...which is mostly Uncanny X-Men.

Also, James Marsden did the best with what he had to work with, to make Cyclops believable, and to make people feel for him. He brought the character to life on the big screen, and I know I'm grateful.

Re: Movie Cyclops. I Really DO Like Him. He came off as the most human, passionate, and emotional of the entire franchise. I liked his vulnerability and there was a warm aura about him (his scenes with Jean, the smile to the kid at the train station in X1, his scene with Jean at the museum, in the X-Jet, the last scene of X2 with xavier and Logan, and all his scenes in X3). I really felt for him. I think everyone else on the team came off rather cold and unfeeling compared to him.

I think they failed to show his strong leadership/authority and really the extent of his powers and other facets of his personality. But I really liked him in the movies... plus Jimmy's my favorite actor so that is a plus. But Cyke has always been my favorite X-Man and the movie version was good but underdeveloped.

Unfortunately, she got no character arc and I think Ana feels the same way. She started off hating her powers and three movies later no growth or change. As for Halle, I truly believe she could pull off Storm if given good material and directed right. I liked her in X2, rather calm and cool. I think if they could combine that with the display of power in X3, we'd have the real Storm. Like, I really enjoyed her scene in the jet in X2 with Nightcrawler. Calm yet strong.

Apparently Halle thinks Storm in number two was the worst.

I think Halle just doesn't take the work seriously enough or something, because she isn't that bad of an actress. But the writing sucks and her character is basically completley different in every film.

and I think Hugh did a great job as Wolverine in the first film, but yeah now it just is over the top and lacking any real sincerity. Maybe Ratner made the set too much fun so the actors forgot to do their job.

and Anna is great, I think she could pull off a more comic Rogue. She is an oscar winner also after all. So all this talk about giving Halle more screen time because she won an oscar doesn't hold up. Maybe Anna just is more of a proffesional like James.

Oh, I dunno. I've been ragging on Halle ever since the first installment, but in the interest of fairness, it probably isn't entirely her fault that the Storm character came off so weak. I'd blame a poor script and character development first; THEN I'd blame Berry's physical shortcomings to carry off the role believably. I mean, she IS objectively an attractive woman and arguably a good enough actress; she just didn't have the physicality and presence to convince me that she was Storm. To paraphrase what someone else posted in one of the threads, "I kept waiting to see Storm, but all I got was Halle Berry in a white wig."

Agreed. I think you nailed the issue with Storm. In X3 they tried to make her 'strong' but she just came across as, like you say, a 'pissy firecracker'. I would have liked to see her exude some more quiet strength.

And I agree 100% on Jimmy - he is the perfect Scott - even with his limited scenes in X3, his acting was wonderful.

you know After seeing the teaser trailer the last week before March, I was looking forward to seeing Cyclops in X3, but at the same time (this was before I joined the hype) I didn't know about his fate and all the stuff that was going on. I was a big cyclops fan way back and I still consider myself one. He made me see Jean the way I never thought I'd understand and care about her... even in X2 when they were holding each other... man. one of my fave moments. so then I joined the hype and kept my x-thoughts to myself and then I spilled it out...and at times I got carried away...

I kept watching X1 and X2, but x2 more cause I was excited about X3... I didn't know there was gonna be another one. lol

I was hoping that Scott would have a bigger role in this one but alas, that didn't happen in my eyes but still I thought Jimmy was great with little scenes and time that he had. It was worth it. Same goes with Famke... I think in X3, there was real chemistry between James and Famke. The way he ran his hand through her hair and smiled... the way they held each other close... the way she held his head with her hands...the way they kissed passionately even though it didn't last long...it was still worth it...

I could feel their passion they have for each other just radiate off of the screen and then when ...she goes bad... you almost want to cry out for scott and Jean...I think his death was accidental... poor phoenix didn't want Scott...

he wasn't animal enough :p lol

anyway... I thought James and Famke had a more real chemistry in their scene together. :)

God, I remember so clearly. When I sat in the cinema way back in 2003 I was so shocked about Jeans dead. I really didn't saw it coming. Lol. But when the shilouette of the phoenix appeard in the end, I was sooo relieved. And so gosh darn happy, because I thought "Man...the dark phoenix arc. Finally there's a chance for Scott and Jimmy to shine. Finally there will be an X-men movie that will NOT center around Wolverine." That this is the big chance and they just couldn't screw it up! They couldn't!!!

Emma's no maneater — hell, for most of her time with the X-Men or working for Xavier, she's been single. Cyke's the only guy she's been with. She was on her own while she was co-leading Generation X. And I'm sure she'll be single again one day, since it's inevitable that Jean will always come back from the dead over and over and over. ;)

Screenwriter Dan Harris was recently ported over to work on Superman Returns alongside director Bryan Singer. But Harris told the Canadian Press that had he and his "X2" co-writers stayed with the "X-Men " franchise, one of the next big additions would've been Emma Frost, penned with Sigourney Weaver in mind.

Harris says "We were going to do X-Men 3 for a little while and our big secret was - and it's not going to happen now, so it's OK - we wanted to bring in Emma Frost, a famous X-Men character. She's called the White Queen. We were going to ask Sigourney to be it. She was an empath in our version, which means she could control people's emotions, could look at someone and make them cry on cue or make them hate you or be lonely."

Yeah I remember that. I actually thought the idea of Sigourney Weaver was a pretty good one. She even said darn when they told her about it and asked if they could write the part into superman.

Her empath abilities were supposed to be able to have her control people, mainly men.

God I wish I could see Singers version, I like the plot cure, just wish it could have been saved for later.

Just reading this X4 fan-fic. Cykes is at Alkali Lake hospital, Sinister locates him after 15 years, kidnaps him, an invasion occurs at the X-mansion (Sinister and Omega Red), Jean's dead body is taken from her grave, Jean returns, Scott has a moment with Jean, they escape Sinister's hideout along with Havok and the story goes on from there.

Pretty cool fan-fic.

what's with the $599 price for ps3...I thought it was $400-$500Like the 360 it's gonna have 2 price points. The real mccoy at $599, and the retarded younger brother at $499. But unlike the 360, you're permanently gimped if you choose the cheaper one.
Oh and if you wondering why it's so expensive, it's because Sony wants to force people into buying there Blu-ray high def dvd format. So it doesn't end up dying like a dozen other formats Sony has tried to make big and failed. :eek:
They also figured everyone was bored of rumble in the controllers(and it was totally unrelated to them getting sued for stealing the very same rumble tech, which they lost), and gutted it out and added simple motion sensors so you can get a slight better control of flight and maybe driving games(assuming any developers put in the effort to do so). Oh and they also say it's a true next gen HD gaming format(unlike the 360). Even though it will be outputting games in the 720P format, just like the 360(atleast it has the hypothetical top res of 1080p, tho games at that res will be downgraded visually to make use of that resolution). Oh and also something to be happy about it's also the first 4th dimensional console. Apparently. Whatever that means. :ghost:
Also it has real next generation features that make it just super better than the competition. Like real time weapon changing, and being able to attack for massive damage on historically accurate giant crabs.
