Zak, how do you feel Cyclops role in the movies has been done? Many are disappointed with the way things have turned out concerning the character, especially in X2.

* I guess that's a fair criticism. A lot of it has to do with the popularity of Wolverine. Harsh, but true. This doesn't mean its the way the WRITERS want it, just that it's a reality.

nothing is sure unless someone has actually seen the final cut of the movie and everything discussed here is pure speculation... now with that said .. dude you're so right .. he's a goner lol.

the rumblings of cyclops' death stems from that leaked script.. but everything seen on the trailer seems to confirm it. we have yet to see cyclops in any other scene except that one at the lake.. there is that picture of him from empire but again that's a promo pic and means nothing (remember that promo pic of all the x-men in x2 with Jean?) .. and no one at fox is saying anything, which rightfully they shouldn't anyways.

the only thing that gives me a little hope that he actually does something in the movie is that the people at fox knows all this and could clearly try to steer us in the wrong direction.. but given everything with singer and superman, i wouldn't put it pass them to just kill cyclops and end that..

cyke will die towards the beginning, it will make the Pheonix more impactful, "Jean Grey killed her BF!!!!, she's a monster out of contol, if she can kill him, she will kill anyone!!" that's what they are going for with the pheonix, cykes role is to set up how evil the pheonix is, so what Ratner and all them said was true, his role is very influencal to the plot of this movie,

plus all cykes character was was a third party in the love triangle, everyone who saw the film and knew nothing the x-universe didn't like him, they wanted Jean and Logan together, he was the pretty boy prep that people don't like, they want the rough and tough guy with a heart of gold (how logan's portrayed) to win the girl, I guarentee... I'll say it again, I GUARENTEE that jean will confess that she is in love with Logan before the movie ends!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm willing to put money on it..............

Just because we haven't seen him in any others pictures doesn't mean he bites the dust.

They could be playing on your fears, emotions, and just smiling while reading these message boards while hardcore Cyclops fans overreact and read into everything as if it's 100% fact based.

I have a feeling that Cyclops will not die and if he dies, then I'll admit that I was wrong and even I will be disappointed if he does indeed perish. No one knows at this point and it's best to stop talking about it, stop worrying, and just wait for May 26th to arrive so we can see with our very own eyes.

let's be honest here, cyclops power is cool.. but it is by no means the best. i personally think jean has the best powers (TK and telepathy). cyclops vs a lot of other x-characters would prolly get his a** handed to him.

i remember reading something a couple of years ago that talked about the powers of the 5 original x-men and that warren's, scott's, and hank's were basically that and nothing more.. pretty self contained.. but bobby and jean have almost limitless possibilites (in their powers) ..

I'd say Cyclops is in the mid-range of powers. Without the visor/glasses, he could knock out or kill a large portion of the X-characters. However, up against high-range X-Men (Xavier, Magneto, Dark Phoenix, Apocalpse) he is pretty useless unless he gets a quick shot in first.

Zak, how do you feel Cyclops role in the movies has been done? Many are disappointed with the way things have turned out concerning the character, especially in X2.

* I guess that's a fair criticism. A lot of it has to do with the popularity of Wolverine. Harsh, but true. This doesn't mean its the way the WRITERS want it, just that it's a reality.

You see Cyke, the deal with that, is ultimately in big summer motion pictures and blockbusters like X-Men, alot of the time, the screenwriters are FORCED by the motion picture studio to write the script a certain way because one person/character is more popular than the other.

This is not the only film series where this has occured and it's a fairly common thing in Hollywood. Now if Zak and Simon had more of a standing in Hollywood they could potentially have stood up to Fox and changed things, but they don't have much big under their belts to do such a thing.

It's not that bad a line. I've heard a lot worse. Fantastic Four had some crap dialogue, for instance. ('Let's not fight' 'No, let's')

She had to say SOMETHING in that scene, it wouldn't have worked otherwise. And saying 'it croaks' is not that much different, in fact it's more jokey and could be seen as even more lame. She had to say something final, something dramatic, something that implied 'screw you, I've had enough, begone!'.

I don't mind the line at all, and I'm a major Storm fan. It doesn't bug me as much as most of her other dialogue in the first two movies. That line at least makes her commanding and strong, not meek and mousy.

Get over it. The line was written seven years ago and seen on the screen six years ago.

The latest batch of Cyclops answers as well as Ratners latest interview with Star Log seem to suggest the worse case scenario in X3 for Cyclops, which is disappointing and annoying.

I can see Cyclops , Xavier and Magneto dying and Mystique being cured. I agree though, it does seem like a lot of death in one film, but this is the last and most emotional of the 3 so...

Nothing is forever in the Marvel world. At the end of the last X-Men, from what I saw, Jean Grey had died. But she happened to be back on the set on the first day of shooting "X-Men: The Last Stand", so you never know...

He'd much rather have you walk out of the theatre after you've paid your 6 bucks out of rage than have you not see the movie at all. If he gives you false hope you just might gather up that group of friends and go on down to the movie, hoping and praying that Cyclops is a red herring. If he doesn't then quiet frankly the fans who have the plot all figured out and would be angered by such a PRODUCTION (i.e. Rothman's revenge) decision would just rather sit this film out.

I mean no one on the production staff of Batman and Robin was saying "yeah this movie sucks, is an insult to the comic and fans will be outraged". Yeah were saying "Yeah its a great adaptation, take on these character, you'll love it". Now X3 probably will NOT be a B&R realistically. But even if it is the cast and crew would still do as much as possible to keep people interested and hooked on seeing the film.

The worst way to alienate fans is to kill off a bunch of characters for shock value ....something that appears to be the case for this film. So if you do that you'd better be damned sure that you can fill those seats come openning day since more likely than not a lot of people will not be coming back. The preview to me reflects this. It shows you some spectacular action sequences, some emotional scenes all of which would rope you in. Their promotion tactics also reflect this, telling people these "you can take it either way" spoilers that make you have to see this movie. I'm not dissing the film I haven't seen, but I am saying they obviously want to rope as many into seeing it as possible. This is not an indie film where the idea is "I just want to make a good movie that I feel is a piece of art". No, this is the summer blockbuster, meaning they must make a lot of money. In the spirit of doing that they cannot have X-fans or movie fans dropping off because they know something about the plot they dislike.
