I don't think anyone should die just because it is pointless but if they do kill of Prof. X I think it would be fitting to kill of Magneto as well at the end. Just for the two of them to die together would be awsome cause they have been friends/enemies for, like, ever!!! Then that would leave room for the possibilites of sequels to take a new turn and have both the X-men and the Brotherhood under new leadership, the X-Men with Cyclops, since he isen't goin' to die, and the brotherhood could be led by Mystique. I just think Cyclops has been way to underdeveloped to be let go this easily. Also Wolverine sucks donkey testicles and has stolent he past two movies.

Back to Cyclops, still think he lives. I think Jean and Xavier will probably die. I'd like her to survive, but after all she's done, how could she not be held accountable. It's the same dilemma they had in the comics and that's why she died then.

I personally think we'll see Cyclops at the mansion leaving, at the lake, then not again until the final battle. And in that battle he helps Jean regain control and she turns on Magneto. We already know that she's only with the brotherhood for a while, she's on her own alot too. I think she joins the brotherhood later in the movie and then turns on them, thanks to Scott in the final battle, and thus ending it. I think she will either kill herself, or Let a Sentinel take her out. That could be the shot of Wolverine yelling in the TV spot. It looks like he just saw Jean die. Or maybe he's calling out to Cyclops to reach her.

I think Halle looked great in the films. Though I'm not sure about X3 with the black streaks. Might make her look like a hag. But she looks good with the bangs.

Famke looked bookish in X1, but definittely looked hotter in X2. Wish her hair were longer though. She looks super hot in X3.

I think one of two things will happen.

1. Cyclops will be in a coma after Jean loses it at the lake. He wakes up midway through the final battle and joins them...

2. We never see what happens at the lake, we all think he's dead, but it turns out he survived.

Either way, big absence, but alive at the end and will play a part in stopping Jean.

I agree that they might not actually show what happens. Maybe after the Xavier confrontation, it'll be assumed that whatever happens to him is also what occured at the lake (demolecularization?) Leaving it plausible for Cyclops to come back at the end. I keep thinking of how in the new commercial you can see the Jean is successfully controlling Scott's power, and that it's obvious that what she does to Xavier is intentional. If Scott's fate isn't an accident like in the AICN script, why would she kill him the same way as Xavier? I can't think of any reason to motivate her.

While the emotional value could be brought up by her being able to kill off her loved ones, the emotional impact would be escalated if only the person she loves the most brought her back to her sense(in this case, it must be Scott). So i believe one way or another, Scott will be involved in bringing the Phoenix to an end. It's just not plausible for others to have a sudden impact on her the way cyke will.

Well, I think they are purposely not showin him in uniform outside of the lake, because his only other IMPORTANT scene beyond that is when he stops Phoenix and they won't give away that ending.

I think they know about the leak and are purposely misleading us. People ask why, but its simple. If we think Scott is dead, then we have no idea how Phoenix will be stopped. So the ending is up in the air. It may be an important plot point, if the characters think he's dead for most of the film, so they wouldn't want us to watch thinking "Duh, Storm, Jean, he's still alive!"

We need to be along for the ride. Feel what they feel...

If we see another shot of Cyclops in the final battle, we'll know that he and Jean will ultimately resolve Phoenix one way or another.

If Fox really wanted to dispell the AICN script spoilers all they have to do is show a glimpse of Scott in the trailers that clearly shows he survives beyond Alkali Lake. That they have not done so leaves two possibilities: they dont want to or they cant.
If it's the former then it's open to speculation as to why they would play such mind games with the fans (Joe Public is unlikely to be any the wiser as to Scott's suspected fate one way or another atm, so excluding any post Alkali scenes of Scott from the trailers would be a special accomodation for the fans). And if its the latter...well, bugger.

The whole Alkali Lake scene, it's possible implications and it's timing in the flick is something we fans know about: Joe public might have an inclination as to what the floating glasses mean but they would have no idea that scene doesn't happen after any glimpse they might show of Scott from later in the film.

So I stand by my thinking that for whatever reason Fox's omitting any later shots of Scott (if they exist) is something done to mess with the fans heads rather than your average cinema goer.

i knew from the first movie that the cyclops character would not be used very much, you could just tell from the setup...making jean have more screen time with logan and that, and she acted more seductively towards him.
It's a shame to see such a great character from the comics to be treated this way in the movies.
