i dont want to sound negative about superman but i seen the trailer and i seen the guy in costume and i just dont know. im a big smallville fan, i just dont understand why they didn't just let tom welling do it ... or end smallville this season and have it continue on to the movies .. but ill reserve more judgement until i see the full trailer

Because Tom Welling has created a Clark Kent so far off the previous movie versions it would be awful to have him. Plus there are so many flaws on smalville that the movie would have to carry the burden of if he was in it

Ratner SPECIFICALLY said Cyclops grows as a character in this film! And as far as the past two movies go and Storm not growing as a character YES the same CAN be said for Storm.

Premiere seems to be a respectable magazine, they aren't going to put an old photo on the front cover of all places. They are going to want new images because that way they are likely to sell more copies. I dont ever remember seeing a magazine use 3 year old promotional images on their front covers, its pointless and its old news.


You can tell those two shots are different, just look at his face in the two new promo pics compared to the X2 pics, its completely different

Its prob quite a few pages back now but someone emailed editor of Empire who confirmed it was an X3 image, and again a few pages back someone gave the link to a site where fox registered it as an official X3 image

We know since some month that he will not be in every major scene..

We can not expect a lot of screentime yes, but it doesn't mean that he will be a cameo..and even an uninteresting part , unimportant...Unless you consider scarecrow, for example, in Batman Begins a cameo , unininteresting and unimportant..

Storm has changed a lot. They couldn't use an X2 promo for her. Jean has changed a lot. They couldn't use an X2 promo for her. We'd know instantly they were X2. Their costumes and general appearance is very different.

It really says "The final fight" but the name of the movie in French is "X-Men 3: L'affrontement Final" (The Final Confrontation). I think "La Lutte finale" is just a way of promoting the movie for that magazine.

The suits may have been ready all at once, but Marsden wasn't in one until he cam back for the rest of his scenes and that's when they got the photos. I think the cure debate is much more multi-faceted than that.

While the most of the X-Men have always been a brilliant analogy for minority repression, Rogue is a bit different.

Yes, it is morally wrong to force someone to take medicine to change their skin colour, or religious beliefs or sexual preference because it seems different and strange. It is morally wrong to encourage someone like Beast to take the cure because he has Blue skin and is intimidating. Yes, it is morally wrong to encourage someone like Wolverine to take the cure as his mutation is the only lifestyle he knows.

BUT

Is it morally wrong to provide a cure for someone who can never ever ever touch someone? Someone who's mere touch can render unconsciousness or death. Someone whose life is so disabled and confined that they have to live in fear of human contact every day, yet at the same time desire it.

Would that be any different to providing a cure for Leprocy? Or perhaps healing someone who had permanent respiratory problems. Or healing someone who had Agoraphobia (Fear of leaving 'Home' and social interaction).

While the Minority repression/Mutant repression is a great analogy it certainly does go much deeper.
I mean, how many people are afraid of Homosexual's because they could be controlling their thoughts?



And to take it to an incredible extreme, let's take human terrorists. Would you, knowing that terrorists exist, and that they are from all walks of life and nationality, would you want to 'cure' their ability to destroy and kill? Would you want to take away their threatening desires and powers? Remove the possibility of war and violence and destruction perpetrated by these people?

Now, would 'curing' these terrorists of their violent ways make them less human, or more human?

Common sense aside, the only thing you need to look at is his hair.

The fact is, every single promotional shot of Cyclops from X2, every single one, has his hair styled in exactly the same manner - the slightly messy, sort of bowl-cut look with the few strands on his forehead. Because this is how he looks when he's suited up in X2. Marketing is all about consistency; they really do hang up on specifics like this, like a few strands of hair. Same as how every promo photo of Rogue suited up in X2 has her hair pulled back with 2 white strands hanging down, exactly how it is when she wears the suit in the film, despite there also being scenes in the movie with her hair down.

They did not take dozens of pictures of him with messy hair, and then have a stylist run in, comb his hair and give him a straight part (and extend the length of his hair a good inch for that matter), then take two more shots that they won't even use, throw into archives to be used 3 years later in magazines to promote the next one.

And the hair is only the most glaring difference, the fact that he looks decidedly more mature is another; and for a third, the 2 poses we've seen so far are consistent with what we've seen so far from the other characters, and inconsistent with what we had scene for X2.

Not to mention the fact that using an old photo to promote a new movie is incredibly unprofessional and so out of the realm of anything I've ever heard of before. If Fox even thought Cyclops was important enough to warrant such an elaborate set-up, they'd go all the way and give him his own damn poster, not one picture on the inside of Empire, and one on the cover of French Premiere.

Common sense aside, the only thing you need to look at is his hair.

The fact is, every single promotional shot of Cyclops from X2, every single one, has his hair styled in exactly the same manner - the slightly messy, sort of bowl-cut look with the few strands on his forehead. Because this is how he looks when he's suited up in X2. Marketing is all about consistency; they really do hang up on specifics like this, like a few strands of hair. Same as how every promo photo of Rogue suited up in X2 has her hair pulled back with 2 white strands hanging down, exactly how it is when she wears the suit in the film, despite there also being scenes in the movie with her hair down.

They did not take dozens of pictures of him with messy hair, and then have a stylist run in, comb his hair and give him a straight part (and extend the length of his hair a good inch for that matter), then take two more shots that they won't even use, throw into archives to be used 3 years later in magazines to promote the next one.

And the hair is only the most glaring difference, the fact that he looks decidedly more mature is another; and for a third, the 2 poses we've seen so far are consistent with what we've seen so far from the other characters, and inconsistent with what we had scene for X2.

Not to mention the fact that using an old photo to promote a new movie is incredibly unprofessional and so out of the realm of anything I've ever heard of before. If Fox even thought Cyclops was important enough to warrant such an elaborate set-up, they'd go all the way and give him his own damn poster, not one picture on the inside of Empire, and one on the cover of French Premiere.

I think the cure debate is much more multi-faceted than that.
I've no doubt it is. At it's most basic level however, it is a choice. There would be mutants with no unusual features who would still take the cure simply because they want to be the same as everyone else. They don't want to be different.
