mid 90's. Read some scattered comics around UXM 160-220 but I really got into it when I read the absolute first run up through the end of the Phoenix saga (1-137). So those were pretty much my first experiences with X-comics.

I started reading somewhere in the late 200s and maybe this is why I used to prefer Archangel. When I started reading back issues I was thinking what happened to that suicidal angst ridden character I knew & I didn't like the change (even though those issues were written earlier ;)) . I was surprised how much I loved it when the feathered wings returned :up:

Yeah, the eyes are a bit weird and creepy. But then again, Archangel is supposed to look weird and creepy. With them blue skin and metal wings and all.

If there are future X-movies (which is a no-brainer if X3 makes gold this summer), I hope they go down the Archangel-Horseman of Death storyline. That's one of my FAVORITE storylines of all time. :up:

I really like that manip of him as Archangel. And you can place me firmly in the camp of wanting Archangel to be seen in the films. The tortured hero turned villain stories are some of the best there is, especially with what Warren has gone through.

I agree. The Apocolypse story is the one I most want to see in future sequels and the inclusion of Warren takes this one step closer to becoming a reality. Now what I want is for the mystery character who turns up at the end to be Cable which I think is as much of a possibility as any other

Yeah, the Angel-turning-into-Archangel was - just wow. :up: Really hope for the same thing in the future X-Men films. I'd love to see Angel betraying the X-Men and wanting to KILL them. :D:p

I dont mind seeing Archangel as long as he's redeemed. Always liked him better without the angst.

He gets really depressed during Mutant Massacre because of various reasons:

a) his relationship with Candy breaks off

b) he wants Jean but can't have her

c) his wings get torn off, thats the big one

So he joins Poccy and gets brainwashed, Apocalypse usually brainwashes his horsemen.

I think Pocsy did brainwash Angel into making the choice. I don't remember though, I'll have read up on it again.

I thought he offered him the wings when he teleported him out the plane, he accepted and became archangel and then was brain washed into doing the rest of Apocolypses biddings, but the original choice was his.

Now that I think of it, I think Angel first accepted Pocsy's offer, and then was brainwashed into becoming Death.

Iceman made an iced statue of himself, and when Angel destroyed that statue (thinking it was Iceman), the brainwashing wore off.

So, he thought he killed Bobby, and that's how Archangel wore out of his 'Death' persona.

As we know, a feathered wing was among the X-rays on the wall in Stryker's base in X2. Angel was going to be in X2, so it must have been intended to be his wing, but he was dropped and is in X3.

For fanboy continuity purposes, are we to assume that Warren was a known winged mutant during Stryker's Weapon X involvement? It seems unlikely if he is just emerging as a mutant in X3... or is he an established known mutant in X3 (with backstory to his emergence)?

They ignored the Hank McCoy cameo in X2, they might do the same to the X-ray/wing scene. That's my guess.

He does have the origin scene. My guess would be that Warren Sr. tries to hide his son's mutation, and so will Warren III up until his escape scene.

Correct me if I'm wrong but i think the x-ray on Stryker's lair was that of an Adamantium-laced wings, that film's version of Archangel.
