After X3 they are going to concentrate on spin offs so we might have to wait 10 years at least before we see a whole different take on X-men. In my opinion I like the fact they are doing this because the last thing we need is for people to get tired of X-men like other franchises. That said I do believe Sentinels will be in, if anyone saw the post the person made, they also mentioned that its a new design too. So how do you all think they are going to make them? Human size? or Giant Robots?

I really hope they're human size. Idealistically, I'd want them to be Prime Sentinels. I think that was a cool idea that wasn't really used to its full benefit in the comics, but done right in the film, it adds a real threat. Mutants are not safe anywhere. Any human could be a Sentinel. To me, that scarier that a 25 ft robot, because those you can see coming. But would you expect your brother to be a Sentinel? Your next door neighbor? It also provdes good social commentary. Many bigots hide their opinions in the shadows.

considering how things are working, the only way they could do the giant robots is majority or full CGI which I really would prefer not to see. (and has been a staple of the X-series to keep away from using too much)

So I think if they exist they'll be slightly larger than/ or actual human sized. Think closer to the Terminator cyborgs or recent Star wars drones. Maybe I could see them doing one giant one or maybe a fan hint towards Master Mold, but other than that I think it's more likely we'll be getting the smaller 2nd generation Sentinels.

Now the Prime bots would be an entirely different twist, but I think it would come off as a bit too much of a T-1000 type ripoff, and the 3rd generation sentinel clones of the X-men which were the first primes would be WAY too much to introduce in this already packed flick.

Yeah, that was my point. X2 already had alot of the Trask symbolism and characterization. X3 in a new government world where the government is trying to maintain peace with mutants and even use them in agencies where their powers would be beneficial (leech, cypher, beast, etc) a government member with a Dr. Strangelove mentality where he sees the forthcoming end of humanity by allowing mutants to prosper and live. So he takes on the sentinels project apocalypse in order to destroy them.

Well what if they were planning this all along and they kept saying no because it was actually Stephen Lang? I mean, most people know to associate the Sentinels with Trask because he was the first, so if they wanted to keep it secret they would not say Trask is involved. But they could have gone with any of the other guys that were in charge of the Sentinel making projects... and Lang makes the most sense because of his connection to the Phoenix Saga!

glad I'm not the only one who made this connection. Like I said Issues #98-102 on uncanny arc starts with the lang sentinels, then goes into the phoenix rising, then into the return of the brotherhood and then juggernaut, and then the return of Angel as a main character. I mean, how can that be ignored? Especially if they were planning the Dark Phoenix, I'm QUITE certain that Ratner would of been reading that arc and all the characters lining up make sense. Even Moira was in the #96-99 books and that came out of no where.

I meant this is the last film with this cast, off course they will be another X-men movie. I saw an article saying after X3 they are going to start on Wolverine, then we know about Magneto movie and the one with the young mutants. They might do these before doing another X-men movie, but there is no doubt that there will be another X-men movie, what I was saying is for now we won't see another one. Who knows they might change their mind if X3 really does well and also gets good reviews.

2. Having Lang and Trask in X3 does not guarantee a complete physical appearance by the Sentinels.

Well even if the Sentinels make it into the movie, I have a good feeling they'll only be used as a small action scene...such as a scene in which a Prototype Sentinel is activated to stop a particular mutant or used to protect the "cure" from being taken by Beast or something. It won't be anything major like a full-scale war against mutants I don't think.

It would be pretty cool if a few X-Men were captured and they tested a Prototype Sentinel out on them...like if Beast, Iceman, Angel, and Kitty were captured and they had to fight to survive against this new 10 ft. Robot made for the sole purpose of extreminating mutants.


I really don't think we'll see a Sentinel assault on the X-Mansion or anything like that. At most we might get to see Juggernaut rampage through the mansion looking for Xavier, but I have my doubts on that making it into the film as well.

Personally I think 10-15 ft. Sentinels would work best...not too large to cause massive collateral damage, yet big enough to be a menacing and powerful threat.

Then they get unleashed at the same time. And for anyone who wants cameos, it'll take more than just the x-men to take them down. Just picture it....

Thunderbird defending Camp Verde...then cut to the Guthries holding down their farm...then Lila and Dazzler fighting back at a concert gone wrong...Banshee at Cassidy Keep...the Hellfire Club...an army of Sentinels vs. an army of Madroxes...Sunfire and Silver Samurai in Japan with Yuriko...Rhane gets backed into a corner and transforms to Wolfsbane and tears the Sentinels a new one...Alpha Flight...Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Wundagore...Chamber's powers manifest blows his face and the Sentinels up after being overwelmed and seemingly not knowing he was a mutant (not the same as the comics, but would look cool on film)...Spiral and Longshot...etc.

And Xavier patches in to telepaths all over the world to organize the counterstrike...which allows cameos by Psylocke (w/Captain Britain), Emma, plus many more!!!

What if there IS an X4 planned, and The Cure is basically the government's attempt to solve the mutant problem BEFORE they start hunting them down and killing them? Which they'd almost have to do if say, a certain Brotherhood made things difficult for them in X3.

I would love to see at least a big old-style sentinel. I would be ok with the small ones, but there's tons of people around the world who likes the X-Men but haven't read a lot of the comics. Here in Argentina, there's a lot of people who enjoyed the '90s cartoon, and have read, at best, some of the Jim Lee era comics, and would guess that if they do human size sentinels, they do it because they can't do the "real ones".

X3 storyboard artist Tim Burgard is a graduate at the Entertainment Art Academy. On their official site they've got a 'reel' which shows off artwork from all their best students who have moved on to the entertainment industry. Theres one interesting piece of art in the middle of the reel.Is that Bill Duke? Are those Sentinels?I could be wrong....

Not exactly. Mystique impersonated Gyrich in the helicopter before revealing herself to Kelly. Gyrich was mentioned at the end of X1 on the final news bulletin the X-Men are watching - the news reader says his body was found and appeared to have been mauled by a bear (which obviously means Sabretooth killed him).

I'm not really pro Sentinel nor Anti but after seeing Wotw they could really do something menacing with the sentinels. I think there's actually a possibility of the sentinels being in there. It's probably the humans last resort or defense against the raging mutants. something interesting I noticed... at the beginning of the teaser, it shows a few cast members (Wolverine, Rogue, Storm...) walking through the lower level(s) of the mansion. It also looks like Wolverine points to a door or turn (don't know if this has anything to do with it or not). Then a little later in the teaser it shows all of the same characters (no more, no less) in what everyone has so far thought to be the danger room. I don't know if that's enough evidence to say "My guess is that it IS in fact the danger room" but I guess I'll just say... my guess is that it is in fact the danger room. It's speculation, but so is nearly everything else in these forums!

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll find the call sheet. The call sheet lists Bill Duke... Trask. He is the second to last one on the calll sheet. As a matter of fact that is probably where IMDB got their info on Bill Duke playing Trask from. Billl duke playing Bolivar Trask doesn't nessisarilly mean that Sentinels are in the movie though. It could be setting them up for X-Men 4.

There's a couple of reasons I thought of it also.

With a Mutant-Human war practically inevitible just from what we've seen in the trailer, Sentinels make perfect sense. The fact that the creator is introduced in this movie just further pushes it to make sense.

The fastball special is aimed upward to the point that Colossus and the others are ant-sized. Not too many things are that tall (let alone would many things require wolverine to be thrown at them.). At the end of the fastball special cut, on the left side of the screen (where Wolvie's aimed) there's a red glow, as if a laser's building up to fire, or is firing.

There was another thing that I noticed that's been pointed out already, but after reading through some of the other threads here, it creates continuity errors within the movie. I would assume that a Danger Room scene would be pretty early in the movie, probably before the Sentinels would be introduced, if they are at all. If that's not a scene in the danger room... those lasers shooting down behind Storm come from quite a height. I don't recall very many high altitude, laser-shooting , anti-X-Men weapons in the comics or the old cartoon, that weren't Sentinels.

i hope the sentinels are used... breaking up the big showdown between magneto's forces & the xmen. i see no other way the outnumbered xmen could pull out a victory... unless there is a deflection / redemption from jean grey.

hopefully the sentinels won't be used in a danger room sequence. that would be a cop out. if they don't fit into the story than i rather they wait to use them in a future installment.

The game is using a plan Singer never got to use in X2. He wanted Stryker's plan b to be Sentinels.
