I hope so, too. We've seen Bobby being portrayed as this serious teenager. I'd love to hear him make some jokes and laugh just once. I loved the scene with Bobby and Wolverine in the kitchen in X2. I saw a photo of Beast, Bobby and Storm laughing outside of the mansion and that's a good sign.

Hopefully, but it's unlikely he will suddenly have a massive personality change. If anyhting, as the storyline is full of death and hardship, he may even get more serious. :(

Seems strange that in a film full of pretty serious characters they didnt stick closer to the joker bobby we all know.

Hopefully the pic of Iceman Iced up will be AFTER the film comes out. I don't want that spoiled. As for your avy I think it takes a little while before it registers that option.

I don't think they should release a pic - either show it in the final trailer or leave it for the film.

During the X2 days, did they show Colossus in his metal form before the film came out?

Nathan, that would be such a big tease. But I think it's a great idea. ;) They should not show all parts of him, but one part. Just show him iced-up on his chin and grinning. I'd be very giddy for weeks.

Yeah, it was everywhere...

Don't you remember the final X2 trailer where they showed part of it near the beginning? The effects weren't finished, but they showed it..

They showed it in a couple of commercials, there might've been a couple online clips with a shot or two of it, and there was also this 30-minute special on FOX where they showed a couple of shots of the Colossus cameo...There it was more finished and closer to the final shot..

Ah, well, I wouldn't know b/c I wasn't around during the X2 days. Thankfully. I was blown away in that scene. I really hope that they don't spoil us by showing Iceman all iced-up. Just a few parts of him will do.

You know, I watched X-Men and X2 a few days ago, and it kind of hit me. There is a *little bit* of comic Iceman in the movies... not enough, but there are a few good moments I hope they build on in X3.

Getting Pyro in trouble in class, dismissing Logan with "Yeah, well, it was good to meetcha," even trying to be clever and cover his tracks with "Nothin." after he asks Logan about Jean. WE NEED MORE!!!

I thought the whole kitchen scene really pulled Bobby's joker side. Well, not really, but it was something, though. "This is a school", "yeah, that's a no", "no prob" (with that smirk), him peeking and nodding at Logan when he asked if he was alright. Haha. :p

"A bit lovely"! Hee!

I'm actually thinking the completely turning to ice may be a bit much...but then a "frosty coating" may have looked too similar to Colossus metalling up.

But then will being ice actually afford him extra protection? He might shatter! They say that there isn't action just for the sake of it so I wonder what purpose it will serve?

Maybe if he fights pyro, it'll save him from being burned but then wouldn't he melt?

(I always remember this one scene from the comics where he's in a burning building with these guys who have just attacked it and he said "I'm made of ice so I'm not worried, but what about you?" And I was like uh...fire melts ice??)

LEX

In Icemans case it acts as a way of keeping him constantly cool, so rather than melting him it acts as a defence against fire cos he can never heat up. I agree though I thing they will move away from frosty coating due to Colossus having similar power

Compared to some of the great X-Men artists of the past (Jim Lee, Kubert, Peterson, Buscema, Kirby, Romita Jr.), Larroca's work is rubish. If I were him, I'd be ashamed to even consider doing that book with the way that it looks. There's just something about that chalky, unfinished shadow look that really bugs me. And his bodily proportions are off most of the time, and I can't stand his "bottom looking up" shots.

Thats true for Spidey but I dont think its true for Bobby. Since when's he got more personality when iced up? The X-men dont really go for the dual identities thing, theyre theme is prejudice. Thats why they can change costumes, wear civvies, whatever, and it still works.

Some of my favorite Iceman scenes are when he and Beast go in their civvies to that nightclub in New York wayyy back in the day.

I'm totally mixing up my lines here (it's 7.40 am in the morning here & I haven't gone to bed yet from last night) :p

The Ice & Spider comment is relating to the movies only (I don't really read Spiderman comics anymore) & the brackets were meant to be in the same sentence and say that I think the movie Iceman would have more personality if he was iced up for most of the movie (whether this is realistic or not).

I need to read some of this s*_* I'm typing before I send it.

From what you said, it's a shame that there probably won't be the same sort of link between Beast and Iceman in X3. The movie Drake is almost too scared to crack a joke & it's these 2 who should be rolling off each other to lighten the tense atmosphere for everyone else.

Does anyone know if Iceman's family will make a cameo appearance in X3?

It just seemed like that whole incident at his house in Boston was never really resolved, aside him jumping in the jet and leaving without saying goodbye. Maybe that's how Singer wanted to project how humans cope with the growing mutant population, and in his case, how parents of mutants deal with it.

I don't think they will make a cameo because, like you said, I believe that Singer wanted to portray that families of mutants just abandoned them. After all if they parents cared don't you think that the parents would try to find their kids after they ran away and ended up at Xaivers. It seems like his family disowned him wanting nothing to do with mutants, even though they said they still love him. I don't know maybe they took his getting on the X-jet as choosing the X-men over them.

That could show some promise to it all. Showing how some mutants use their powers for the good of mankind. And that montage of human families watching it all on tv, or actually at the final battle, extending their support (to the good mutants), like they did for Spiderman vs. Green Goblin on the bridge, or in S2 right after he stops the train.

Typical of a Hollywood ending, but that would be a decent ending to the series... Everyone appreciating life, no matter how different they are..

I haven't seen the method by which Iceman continues to live while in ice form being explained anywhere, but it's but one of many things that are not fully explained. Kitty cannot breathe while phasing so she has to stop before passing out or dying.

And her organs are part ofher just like her hair or arms or legs so why does it make a difference with her organs? She phases her whole body unless she is only phasing parts of it like if she was to crush someones heart she would phase her hand through then solidify the tips of her fingers and squeeze.

I haven't seen the method by which Iceman continues to live while in ice form being explained anywhere, but it's but one of many things that are not fully explained. In the same way I'm not sure how Kitty continues to live when she is phasing and her organs are immaterial. What happens if she continues phasing for longer than her organs can survive without functioning for etc.

Iceman has become basically sentient water molecules. He's an Omega.

I know a lot of people didn't like them trying to work in leather outfits from the movies to the comics, but I really kinda like Iceman's look from around that time:

I think it was a combination of the shades and the fact that they iced up his hair instead of drawing him bald.

I just think that the bald look is so generic and overused. It's a lot more visually interesting, to me at least, to use more texture in his ice forms.

Um.... Ice is made of Hyrdogen and OXYGEN.. He's also survived as a decapitated head of ice for over a week, so why does he need to breathe?

His ice form is also described by Marvel as "Organic Ice", not "Ice-like".
Ok, but we're still talking about this within the context of the films. Is this pushing the realism limits? Will they actually look at the film, look at Bobby, see through his entire face and ask where his skull and brains are?..

In the comics it's more interesting because as you say the bald look has been overused. In the films, if Iceman gets only this film to ice up, I think it just looks cleaner and 'cooler' without hair. If he were to get future opportunities, then I think the effects guys should experiment with different looks (although I suppose that wouldn't really be consistent).

He had an emotional arc with Rogue that needed a serious tone and a contrast with Pyro. I don't know if you've watched X2 as much as I have, but I never thought that he was never a boring character within his given role. You can't just look at a comic and say, "he was like this in the comic, so he should be just like this in the movie". The dialogue in these movies need to move the story around and if there's a moment that needs seriousness, it's gonna be there. They won't sacrifice that just to stay true to the source material and make fans happy.

I disagree here. The movie had plenty of serious arcs, and the Rogue-Bobby arc didn't need to be super emotional. And they could have done it with a mildly wise-cracking Bobby. Its not like in order to have a relatively serious arc they need Rogue and Bobby to be emo characters, just put it in the subtext.

I dont mind the story, I like it actually, but I feel it could have been done better with Bobby staying in character. And even if he served the story, the movie Bobby is still boring.

Would you say Iceman is a very important character for the overall film? In YOUR opinion will Iceman fan's be able to walk away from the film satisfied with Bobby Drake in X3? and not just his use of powers but Bobby Drake's role in general?

*For me, Bobby was one of the most exciting things about X3. He’s a far bigger character in this film than the previous ones. His emotional arc may be one of the broadest of the film. In many ways, he really grows up and becomes a hero in X3.

Thank You! I'm trying to like him. I really am. In X1, I was upset that his role was so small, I thought I would like him if we would get to see him more. And then they gave him a bigger role in X2, but still... dislike. :( And if he is going to hurt Rogue's feeling in X3, I think I will dislike him even more. Sigh... It's a vicious cycle. ;)

but hes totally right...in the x-movies when has iceman really had time to quip....its been really heavy, and i highly doubt x3 will change it. the only time i see him jokin around is POSSIBLY the danger room....maybe he might think of it as fun?

Hey, I had a random thought which is probably not a good thing so feel free to tell me that I have lost my mind and my theroy makes no sense.

Okay so from the trailers it looks like Iceman has left Rogue and moved on to Kitty, but what if he did this just so Rogue would not take the cure. Think about it Bobby and Rogue have been together for a while and Rogue probably knows that it is really hard that he can't touch her skin so she considers the cure. Iceman finds out about this and while he wants to be able to touch Rogue he doesn't want her to take the cure and change herself just to be with him. He kisses Kitty to make Rogue hate him so she won't take the cure and hurt herself.

If this doesn't make sense its okay I just was thinking about it last night while I was half asleep.
