Man, this show just drives me nuts. I missed the last two eps but I DVR'ed them. I just finished watching both. I love this show but I just want to scream at the TV sometimes.

The Baltar scenes with Six on Caprica were great. I admit I about **** myself when I saw him there the first time, when Six was resurrected. The Cylon Peace Movement will be very interesting.

I can't wait for next weeks episode. What the hell is Rosilin going to do...what will be her purpose on the show if she isn't the Pres? And it sounded like she was telling someone that Baltar was a cylon conspiritor (sp?). Going back to her flashbacks to seeing him with Six on Caprica. I wonder what that will bring.

Very interesting stuff. Best show on TV in my opinion.

It seems Roslin is conspiring with Tom Zarek from what I saw in the preview. My guess is that Baltar is going to die. I love the character but I just cant see him on the show while hes president for long. Another option I have is theyll find out about his role in the destruction of the Colonies from Sharon and Caprica 6 and their peace movement.

One of my fav things to watch right now is Battle Star. Mostly for Six and Gaius interaction. It's just the best part of the show for me.

well, BSG2000 is now almost free of the original BSG. It has travelled quite a bit further already. But here's some thoughts on what may happen.

Baltar won't die. He's the main antagonist on the show. To kill him, would be to kill a major part of the show, including a scantily clad 6 prancing around in every episode. If anyone remembers though, Baltar ended up being left behind in the original series, and was saved by Cylons, and became a cylon commander of sorts.

So, I think that maybe Baltar might be leaving the fleet at some point, and moving on to 'other' things.

I can't wait to see what happens on friday, but I'm also terrified for my own sanity, as we all know that BSG has a short history of making the most gut wrenching season finale ever. This year will be ultimately much worse than last years near death adama, tigh in charge of the fleet, the president and apollo in jail, starbuck on caprica etc.

If the season 2 finale lives up to its season 1 counterpart, it's gonna rip the still beating heart from my chest. Atleast the break is during the summer, and it's nice outside (to distract myself)

I was thinking this same exact thing. I think you're right. If this whole Presidency falls through for him (which I think it would have to) and he is exposed as a Cylon collaborator/human traitor there's no way he'll be able to remain in the fleet. Should be interesting.

100% agree. I love this show, but it frustrates me so much sometimes. I guess that's the mark of a good show, eh?

I believe that the game itself is not based on the BSG the original, but that it is actually based on BSG2000. I think I read somewhere that the game is based on the Cylon/Human war that preceded the events in the current series. Because I think you take on the role of William Adama (commander, now admiral in the series) in the first Cylon war. I'm not sure though, but I think I'm right.

Now on with the discussion about the show:

I had this thought the other day. There is one thing that I want to see before the Pegasus is destroyed, or disappears or what. I want to see a Pegasus centric episode, where Apollo, and Stinger (the old Pegasus CAG) go head to head (metaphorically). I'd really like to see the 'daddy's boy' argument extended a bit. Especially since Apollo has now been promoted to Pegasus commander. It should inflame that opinion a little more.

Rewatch the first two seasons, knowing how it all plays out.

The baby is going to be hardcore important, I gurantee it.

And Anders is dead. Period. He's gone. No way Starbuck will be married in Season 3. And she'll blame Lee, because he is indeed a douche.

How is Lee being a douche? We still dont know what exactly went down between Starbuck and Lee that caused that riff. The most obvious answer is Anders but BSg is less that obvious. So lets withold judgement until we find out what exactly went down.

Im wondering witht he fleet jumping away what their plan is. According to hardcore fans this is kinda like the same plot from the original where the Cylons will take Baltar and make him some type of leader. Back to the fleet, will they come back guns a blazing its not like they go and pick up more people to come back and fight. Great episode all around and October is too far away.

that was a cool epi.

you know, it's all very moses. Take a look. Humans having escaped persecuction and have settled in the desert in a life of sin. Moses had take a time out, and come back and save everybody again. I think were looking at this kind of situation. Adama and son (it's like a business) have to go and retrieve something, then come back and save everybody from cylon enslavement. Here's my theory:

In the 'one year later' bit of the episode, it seemed that there was no sharon2, or we didn't see one. So perhaps sharon2 died, and was ressurected. And basically pulled the same deal that Caprica6 and Sharon1 did (starting a cylon peace movement). Sharon2 convincing the cylons that her baby was kidnapped etc. I guess we'll see.

the question remains: what do the cylons want?

anyhow, I thought I put together a list of the cylons we know.

Heh, pretty unlikely, but we could very well see the cylons & humans living in peace next season, those cylons with the Sharon and Six copies could have broke off from the main sect of cylons,, there could be some sort of as of yet unknown to us, civil war going on within the cylons, and they looking for place to stay aswell now, Adama and Son come back next season to find a utopia of sorts??? who knows.

Wow, lot's of good reading here. I only looked over the last 7 pages so forgive me for repeating.

I think it's still possible for Baltar to be a Cylon. I know, I know... there are a lot of strong arguements and evidence that point to this being untrue, but remember two things. First, this is sci-fi, anything is possible. Secondly, A good theory that would play out would be the very same reasons that you guys keep thinking proves he's NOT a cylon...

Why do none of the other cylons appear to know him? Why the need for the CapricaSix seduction and betrayal? Simple, because they are flawed, as admitted in this last episode (which is also playing out a theory that I have had for quite some time now). They make the same flawed decisions and choices that their creators make... right down to the duality issues. We've seen how Sharon could not come to terms with her programming even though it was extremely evident. Why is this? We've seen another Sharon grow (again in relationship with a human) and develope what seems to be different and changing programming. How can this be? Programming so advanced that it can re-write itself??? If these things are possible then why is it not possible for Baltar to have done the same things? It seems to me that the Cylons completely understand that they NEED interaction with humans to help this metamorphosis happen. If this is true, couldn't it also be true that Baltar is a #1 model... perhaps the first and only #1 model, programmed to completely engulf himself in the human experience. The purpose being for the same result that Sharon is the nurturing one... and Six is the seductress, to fully embody these human traits. And programming alone cannot get them there... only experience.

We do remember that humans created these cylons don't we, and we obviously see the philosophical and moral story implications that are always used in this scenario (Human vs machines). But how is it that we keep forgetting that the created never truly learns from it's creator... just becomes more of a beast in different ways. Yes, Baltar represents everything that is wrong with humanity... a little tooo perfectly if you ask me.

Another good episode, a big gamble though. And it sets a precedent, I can see them jumping another year down the road. Like maybe the Adama's and co. find Earth and give them technology in return for their help in creating a fleet, jump a year down the road with Earth having its own spacefleet to go on the offencive. :) I couldn't believe Roslin tried to resort to cheating, or that Baltar would have let it slide like that. He saves her life, the fleets life, doesn't stick her in the brig and so on... yet she will no doubt screw him over again.

I'm a little confused on the surrender thing though as well. The Cylons said the war had ended and that they were going to stop chasing the humans, so why turn up? I would think that would be the more pertinent question than how they were found. Seems a big coincidence they happened to be a lightyear away exactly a year after the nuke anyway.

The fleet couldn't go on the run forever, they had to settle down sometime. And straight after the cylons say they are giving up; 'new caprica' seemed the only logical choice.

Will be interesting to see how 6 has been handling Baltar in her head for a year. And now that they meet properly, is Baltar going to be exposed. Gotta say, for a year of work on the planet... they didn't do much. Its just tents and a mudheap, and neither of which seem very organized. The romans did better. The planet must have resources to have lived that long, so there must be mineral deposits to starting making buildings and such. Hell, even clay huts seem more advanced than what they had going. Start building ships as well, or at least defence platforms. The Pegasus has manufacturing capabilities, if it can make advanced vipers then why not satellites and such?

Dualla looks like she is an XO now, which is cool. I assume Sharon is still in the brig as Helo still worked on the ship. But what happened to the priests, we didn't see them thrown out of an airlock. They could have been used for slave labour or something at least.

I assume the Cylons will save Anders to put Starbuck in an awkward position, seemed contrived enough. Although I couldn't care less, not any redeeming qualities about the character for me.

Eve - Technically the humans had already surrendered multiple times in the mini. So Baltar was just reiterating what was stated. :)

Angry - Good argument. Although I really hope it isn't, they have overplayed that card way too much as it is in my opinion.

Btw, a good reason why Baltar isn't a Cylon is his spine hasn't glowed during sex like Six does.

a simple answer to wether baltar is a cylon or not is this: Making Baltar a Cylon, defeats the whole purpose of his character on the show. He is a representation of everything that is wrong with mankind. To make him Cylon, makes the cylons more flawed, and humanity less flawed. It just destroys the whole concept of the show to make Baltar a Cylon.

I wish this discussion would go away. It just makes no logical sense (from the point of view of telling a story) to make Baltar a cylon.

My theory is, that they Cylons had no idea where the Humans were. Thye had finally lost them and the Cylons had no clue where to start looking for them. So they decided to activate one of their cylon agents, tell them about the peace agreement. Gina sets off the nuke for two purposes. 1. To destroy part of the fleet, in a way bringing morale to a new low. 2. To contact the Cylons to making them aware of their position. This peace agreement gave humanity and Baltar a new founf confidence that they were indeed safe so they settle on the plantet. Not knowing that a light year away the Cylons have fixed on their position and since the humans chose to believe in the peace agreement are ina holding pattern on this planet. In other words. The Humans fell for it and the Cylons have come to whoop on them.

Angry Sentinel

Maybe I should make it clear that I'm not in favour of Baltar being a Cylon. I just think that it has been intentionally left open as a possible story element. And it doesn't totally negate the concept of the many human flaws. Instead strengthening the idea by showing just how flawed any creation becomes trying to emulate humanity, a very flawed creation itself. (The priest cylon practically said this in his speech).

As for my personal feelings I agree with Marc, the idea is almost too obvious and I wouldn't want it to be true unless they could put a fresh spin on it (not sure how that would be possible but whatever).

Yeah, but why? We see the Cylon POV and the war heroes voice did indeed carry favour. And there didn't seem to be any kind of deception at hand. So why the big change of heart. Its a bit convoluted a plan as well, to wait a year to 'trap' the humans when really Gina could have sent their position to the cylons, THEN activate the nuke next to Galactica or something. Along with all the other agents being activated. And with all the ships no longer guarding the colony planets, they could surround the fleet in one move. Just a bit lost on the motive at the moment.

The general problem is they can't run forever, they were not going to find another habitable planet perfectly hidden like they did. It seems just a tad out of order for them to drag a Cylon fleet to Earth and endanger all of... erm us, just in the small hope we can beat their Cylon empire for them. Unless BSG is set in our future and 'we' are the advanced race. They should have been consolidating on the planet, building new ships and weapons with the planets resources. Instead they just made tents and shacks.

I honestly dont know what to say. The Gina answer is obvious, theres no way she could gt off Cloud 9 with the nuke so she had to do what she had to do. Pretty much were left to a guessing game David Eick said that whatever the fans think is going to happen next, were wrong. So who knows where theyre going with this, and with BSG it wont be the most obvious answer.

Not completely. Because she manages to get off Pegasus easily enough after killing the captain and get onto Cloud 9 (probably the most secure civilian ship). And Baltar managed to get a nuke out of Galactica without a problem. As well as the accusor 6 of Baltar who disappeared without a trace after Baltar was proven innocent of the fake photo's. Or the suicide bomber guy who almost killed the commander. They can get around when they want. Could probably just get D'Anna to use her press pass to get on board the ship with a nuke.

Eick can't possibly guess every fan guess though. :D Unless the series suddenly becomes about home gardening... although I just guessed that. Yeah, probably won't be obvious. Can't wait. :)

I know this doesn't contribute much to the conversation... but damn it I love this show. I keep trying to get others to watch it, but other than my roommates, none of my friends will. Trick them... tell them it's porn and then show them one of the eps with Gina and Baltar getting it on... they'll love it.

I can see them doing the 5 year thing, if only to put some more age on Sharons child, so what that'd make her around 6 then? If the child is to play such a big role needs to be at least around that age, or maybe it starts some accelerated growing soon who knows. Only thing that would really bother me in the 5 years idea is that i hope they dont start giving all the couples more babies, a baby between Lee and Dualla would really complicate things..

I love sci-fi shows, books, movies anything. Sci-fi is and always will be my favorite genre. I adore Firefly, adore Farscape, and have been finally getting into Stargate Atlantis though I'm not super crazy about it. I'm not a huge SG-1 fan I will watch it just to get a sci-fi fix.

Loving sci-fi as I do, I asked myself the other night why I dislike Battlestar Galactica. I liked the original series. So I keep giving it a chance. It's getting rave reviews and appears to be a solid show that Sci-Fi will keep around for awhile. The production values are high. The acting is solid. So why do I always skip this show?

I watched a bit of it the other night and suddenly realized that it's not .... well.... any fun. The writing is good, but it's not clever if that makes sense. And I don't find any of the characters likable.

Firefly was fun and clever. Unusual twist on an old premise. Interesting characters that all have their own agenda and individual personalities. Unique twist on a vision of the future. Excellent acting. Funny. Sad. Scary. Everything.

Farscape. I'm a huge huge fan and that's being conservative. Very original. Sometimes you never knew where it was going to take you, good twists on plots and lots of weirdness. Best villian (Scorpius) outside of Darth Vader himself. GREAT characters. Lots of suspense, drama, humor.

Now every show has it's ups and down, neither Firefly nor Farscape are perfect, but at least they're *fun*. And I don't mean ha-ha funny fun. "24" is fun and it's far from funny, but it suspensful with a lot of action and a tight *fast* storyline.

I'm NOT bashing Battlestar Gallactica nor the people who like it, I'm just totally confused as to why *I* don't care for it. Except for the fact that it takes place on a space ship, there seems to be very little sci-fi about it. Maybe that's why I can't get into it.

Well, only watching a bit of it the other night really doesn't give you a complete picture especially since the show has been going undergoing some major changes, I suggest catching a viewing of the season 1, first half of season 2 dvds, if you like all those other sci-fi shows you mentioned, Galactica should be right up your alley.

I get what youre saying but heres the thing. BSG is a human drama that happens to take place in a sci-fi element. Like lets say a show like ER. Its about the characters they just happen to work in an hospital. Ive always seen BSg as a drama first, a sci-fi show after.

Yeah, the heavy drama may be the death nell for me... if it was the other way around, sci-fi action then drama, I would be more drawn to it. I've never been big on heavy drama, the TV shows I enjoy always have a elements of action or suspense "24" or or some kind of fantastic, sci-fi or fantasy element like Ghost Hunters, Haunted, all the UFO shows, Smallville, Stargate Atlantis etc... I think the only odd show I like is "My Name is Earl" because it's just so darned funny and silly.

I was thinking about checking out the new show with David Haysbert called "The Unit". I like David Mamet.

Since I do Netflix, I should start renting the first season of BG. Maybe if I get caught up I can start enjoying some of the characters.

The thing is when BSG gets into action its so amazing. Litereally youll wonder how they get those special effects on a tv show. Its that good. Im pretty sure if you start from the beginning you'll enjoy the hell out of it. Knowing the characters and plot lines that were set up in the first episode that are being brought up in the newer episodes. I always compare this more to like a Lost than any other show.

Absolutely. 100% agree. It's why I've been able to get so many people into it that don't usually like Sci-Fi. It's got enough Sci-Fi for the Sci-Fi fan to love it, and enough drama/acting/story for your average TV-goer to get into it.

I'm a few pages behind, and lazy, so instead of writing up a whole bunch of my own stuff I'll just mooch off of someone else's. :)

I don't think we'll see Earth in there. That would mean the series would be coming to an end soon. :) At least, I hope we don't. But it is an interesting question...where did the fleet jump to? And Adama says they'll be back...with something like 4 Basestars jumping in...what are they going to be able to do? He must have some sort of plan.

To steal a line from James T. Kirk: "Don't trust them...don't believe them." I never bought the whole Cylon's Leaving/Not Chasing deal. I don't think Adama or Roslin did either. I'm sure it was just a ploy to get the fleet to loosen up a little...or at the very least to create some inner turmoil. Regardless of what facts they had...you know the fleet would be split between those that believe the cylons gave up and those that don't believe. Either way, it slows down the fleet.

As far as the timeframe of their arrive, I don't think they specified when they found the remains of the nuke explosion. They may have found it a few weeks/months earlier and just took their time getting the troops and ships/plan together. I think Gina knew what she was doing when she set that nuke off. I'm sure the fleets communications are monitored so she couldn't just send out a message...this was her best bet. At the same time it was hurting the fleet in a big way.

The fleet couldn't go on the run forever, they had to settle down sometime. And straight after the cylons say they are giving up; 'new caprica' seemed the only logical choice.

True, but one thing that bothered me. Everyone knows there are likely more Cylon agents within the fleet somewhere. How can anyone think they would be safe on that planet? I'd be thinking about how just one Cylon agent could give away their position somehow. Unless they found them all...they are always at risk at thier position being given away.

In regards to them not doing much, I think that has alot to do with Baltar. He seems to be more of a dictator than a president. It's obvious the power has gone way to his head. Everyone is low on medicines, food, etc. And I'm pretty sure at some point during the initial scans of the planet they made mention of how there was limited places for human life to settle...and even that would be difficult. Perhaps it's just harder than initial expected. Baltar feeling the need to control everything doesn't help them get things done.

Dualla looks like she is an XO now, which is cool. I assume Sharon is still in the brig as Helo still worked on the ship. But what happened to the priests, we didn't see them thrown out of an airlock. They could have been used for slave labour or something at least.

I think this is going to be one of the more interesting things to watch. It's obvious alot has changed in the crew...Dualla and Helo look to have moved up in position, Gaeta (sp?) is Baltar's assistant (vp?), Cali and the Cheif are a couple and she's pregnant, Starbuck is married, etc. It will be interesting to see how everyone will fit back into place if/when the fleet goes on the run again. Will everyone fall back into their same positions? Looking forward to it.

All in all this series just get's better and better. I didn't think they would do something like this. I really expected Admr. Adama to stand up to Baltar and split up the fleet or something....but he didn't. The end was just perfect though...The fleet jumping out and the Cylon Raiders doing low flies over the camp. October is far too long to wait.

Ive been wondering. We all know gaeta has a hard on for Baltar. Im wondering, if lets say the elction was reversed that he saw that there were fradulent votes for Baltar pushing him ahead of Roslin, would he be so keen on reporting it. A couple of things to think about. 1. He is a big fan of Baltar. 2. He was very excited about settling on the new planet as everyone was and Roslin was against that. Think about it, discuss.

While I agree Gaeta thinks Baltar is a good guy, I think he's a little too much of a goody-two-shoes to not report something like that. He's niave...yes, but he also seems to have a pretty strong sense of duty to the military. I get the feeling he'd buckle to whoever won and whatever their decision was.

I agree. It just seems like he rushed to judgement in this case. Tigh said he would take care of it. But 5 minutes later he was phoning Adama. I wouldve waited to see if Tigh actually did something about it or not.

Maybe, Tigh isn't held in too high of regard though...and he was pretty transperant in that he wasn't going to do anything. He just didn't seem too shocked when Gaeta told him...I think that gave him away.

Earth is just a destination, not the journey itself. :) I don't think Earth would be the end of it or need's to be as there should/could be fall out. Although I don't think they'll find Earth straight away, but unless the Cylons turn on each other or the fleet gets help there is no way they can mount a rescue mission. They were barely operable as it was, let alone cut off from their resources. And if the 5 year jump is true then the fleet will need serious help in order to survive. Even if they get help I can't see how they can rescure the colony by fighting as the Cylons are right in amongst the population. I think the fact D'Anna wasn't amongst the greeting party and Lawless being signed on for a major arc in season 3 might suggest a civil war.

To steal a line from James T. Kirk: "Don't trust them...don't believe them." I never bought the whole Cylon's Leaving/Not Chasing deal. I don't think Adama or Roslin did either. What was to believe though? We see the Cylons in 'downloaded' wanting peace, at least the war heroes. Unless they know us humans are watching them and are tricking us the viewer as well. :D And again, if they wanted to demolish the fleet they have had ample opportunity in the past. They could have simply sent a larger fleet, BSG could barely handle one basestar on its own. If early on they had sent a couple more back when they only had 33 minutes or whatever it was before the Cylons caught them again... then game over.

Well it seemed to be exactly a year later and as they state they were a lightyear away so it matches up. I'm not sure about Gina, I think she wanted to die more than anything else and after sleeping with Baltar she felt she could do that. Dunno yet.

To be fair though, you're never going to be 100% certain the fleet is secure unless they manage to test every single person. Even then, who is to say the Cylons don't work out a way around it. And the same is true whether they are in the fleet, or on a colony, or on Earth. I don't think they can ever be safe with the Cylons still in existence. They would have to wipe out the Cylons or work out a permanent peace to make sure. Both of which they aren't in a position to do without a fleet, peace often only comes when you have the power to respond with war, otherwise you have no bargaining position and peace is just another word for surrender. And to get a fleet they have to stop running, consolidate and rebuild.

Again though, he hasn't got the position to do that. The military are in a far better position, they can simply declare martial law as they did with Roslin if things were that bad. In this case though they don't even like Baltar so are not going to think about it as much as they did with Roslin. The planet may be somewhat barren, medicines come from plantlife for the most part, plants that aren't going to exist on that planet, that haven't grown in the same enviroment, evolved with us to remain useful and part of the food chain. Its probably difficult yeah, but there has to be mineral deposits and the like simply due to it being a planet. I would have thought though that they would be using the planet as a staging platform to find more resources.

Yeah, I'm not sure which way I want them to go as well. I mean after all the changes it seems silly for things to go back. The Starbuck/Apollo relationship as far as I am concerned is dead forever. Wouldn't make sense for Starbuck after getting married twice to suddenly again want Apollo, especially since the both of them are extremely unconcerned with jumping into bed with another person every other week. :D

I think he would have done if he was in serious opposition to him and had the backing of his crew, doesn't seem like they hate him that much. I mean the populace is small enough to be considered a mob, and mob's aren't exactly known for their understanding. Having access to him helps that idea whereas Roslin was seperated on another ship.

Nice chatting.

anyhow, I've found that predicting this show is next to impossible, I just can't wait until Adama and the galactica return to open up a can of whoop ass.

I LOVE bleak visions of the future where there are GARBAGE CAN FIRES warming the masses ... it's just not a bleak future without a good old-fashioned hobo garbage can fire. That was some good s***. Those writers are earning their MF'ing keep! EW Ranked Battlestar as its #1 must-see show. Too bad it wasn't on HBO or Showtime where tons of people would watch it. Sci Fi is pretty nichey.

Whoever said that this series reminds them of the Old Robotech Macross saga, hit the nail on the head. I am just now realizing that this is a major reason why I like this show.

With the colonies unoccupied its possible that they go back and rescue some survivors if there are any and come back full force, maybe with an extra Battlestar or two. Who knows, as has been said its next to impossible to guess whats coming next. Ding! Ding! Ding! we have a winner... I believe that the whole point of the two battlestar jumping away was to go and get better resources(and with this added rumor of five years it's really starting to make sense). They made it clear that the resources of new Caprica were crappy... but the original colonies should have plenty of scraps and scrapes... not to mention the old mining facilities, etc. They have the entire solar system of their own materials at their disposal. In five year's time they (the fleet that jumped away) could easily build other battleships or even another battlestar. And remember, they're not being chased by the Cylon fleet, so that's something else at their disposal... time!

In this case though they don't even like Baltar so are not going to think about it as much as they did with Roslin. The writers consistently show certain characters or characteristics growing up, depending on the situation. For example, Adama is learning, he already saw the fleet split once, and we all saw how that turned out. The man became so passionate about the fleet being a family that he was willing to admit that under no circumstances can they afford to be divided. That's why I believe he was so quick to step up and do the right thing, knowing full well that Baltar's leadership would be a joke. And Adama, at the beginning, wanted to stay and fight with just his battlestar. It was the president that showed him the human race needed to survive, and therefore run. Now 21 months later he has to make that call again and he does it. This will pay off for them. Conversely there are those who haven't learned a thing. For example, the population or non military parts of the fleet. They continue to be petty, and selfish, and VERY Foolish. As shown by the criminal trade, the stupid election choices, and constant emotional upheavals.

What was to believe though? We see the Cylons in 'downloaded' wanting peace, at least the war heroes. I really agree with this, I found myself asking the same question. But then I remembered the Cylon priest's message. He said they were following other interests for the time being... He implied that whatever they were doing, it wasn't going to be forever. And he refused to divulge where the Cylon fleet was heading. From what they said when they landed, they weren't following the fleet. I believe they genuinely just happened across them because of the nuclear blast. And figured, hey... this must be fate, we weren't even looking for them and here they are! Since we're here, the God's must want us to teach them how we've learned to be peaceful...Let's make them have peace with us! Definitely not the same as trying to hunt down and destroy or study the human race... but just as wrong

Yeah, but they've got no one to mine it. :D I would entertain the idea that there are maybe some battlestars hanging around in hangers, where the crew were killed man to man. But again, its a question of who are they going to get to run these things... they can barely run their own ships as it is.

As shown by the criminal trade, the stupid election choices and constant emotional upheavals.

We don't know whether it has been a joke though, him sleeping around aside. I find it hard to believe that if everyone hates him as the president that he'd still be in office. Nor do I think Adama would, having seen how things were run, let it all slide. Hell Starbuck punches her own officers if they upset her a little, doubt she'd have any reservations in letting Baltar know her mind. And clearly the military crew accepted the idea of living on the planet, Adama didn't have to 'release' his men if he was so opposed.

Personally I don't think the election results are wrong if Roslin being the only other candidate is the choice. She completely betrayed the idea of her position, if she is so willing to cast aside the rules for which she campaigns then how can there be order. Its like what Apollo said originally of the elections, if they don't follow the law then he isn't a pilot, she isn't a president, and Adama isn't a commander and none of them have any authority. But I think you still have the ability to have a vote of no confidence in your president if he is obviously running things into the ground. Most western laws seem to be present in BSG, so there must be something similar.

He also said the Cylons were wrong for chasing them, and wrong to attack their race, that it made them no better than a human. The time being thing I would consign to whatever task they had being temporary. A sound theory, we'll see I guess. :D I dunno, I keep thinking that there is some hierarchy to the Cylons beyond what we have seen, that everything they do isn't just spur of the moment but fully planned ahead of time. Even if the copies aren't fully aware of this. Maybe the idea is to have a fresh start at life and realised they would always be subject to the 12 colonies view of them being the enemy. And thought they would goto Earth to find a new existence free from all the baggage they would have, maybe they couldn't without the colonies help in finding it. Which left them trying to find a way to 'motivate' the humans. Meh, lots of ways they can go.

Whoever said that this series reminds them of the Old Robotech Macross saga, hit the nail on the head. I am just now realizing that this is a major reason why I like this show.

that was me, and it's so true. Both shows are based on essentially the same thing... humanities last surviving battleship (in the case of macross, only surviving battleship and population).

the Zentradi could also infiltrate the Macross, just like the cylons can infiltrate the galactica fleet. The Zentradi were also devoid of emotion and passion, and this lead them to be intrigued, by humanity (the microns). Much is the same in BSG2000. The cylons are seeking that part of the human condition which eludes them, just like the giant aliens in Macross. The Macross also housed a city which they picked up by accident in the second or third episode of the saga, just like BSG. Macross even had the relationship between it's bestest pilot, and a Meltran (female zentradi), who eventually had a kid, which was used as a weapon (ah max stirling, super cool) And on and on it goes.

It's interesting because Macross was peiced together, to form a show much like the original BSG, but it expanded on it. But being a cartoon, a lot of the depth was lost. BSG2000 has taken the original BSG, taken a lot of the great additions that Macross added to the 'space battleship' formula, and synthesized a great show.

the only thing that BSG2000 doesn't have (can't really have either) that Macross had, was the uber cool transforming Valkyries, essentially F-14 that could transform into robots in order to fight the Zentradi and Meltrandi (who were 40 foot tall soldier humans)

You know I was thinking the same thing. With the colonies unoccupied its possible that they go back and rescue some survivors if there are any and come back full force, maybe with an extra Battlestar or two. Who knows, as has been said its next to impossible to guess whats coming next.

I think the idea of them returning with more battlestars is totally not gonna happen (it would defeat the purpose of the title of the show), but coming back with a full load of nukes, some more salvaged vipers, and a ****load of ammo is very possible. Hell, they could go back to the Ragnar Anchorage, and pick up everything that they couldn't grab the first time they were there

I agree. Same with what was said above about them not having enough people to man the other Battlestars....let alone build another. They had a skelton crew...spreading them over another Battlestar would be almost impossible. I really think they are going to do something that will blow our mind...something that we haven't even thought of. All of these possabilities seem logical...but I fully expect the writers to turn this thing on it's head. My spider-sense is telling me that the Pegasus may get sacrificed in some way.

But I still cling to the fact that they have showed Adama grow into being a passive leader. He seems to have "The will of the people is ok by me" attitude. And after trying the marshal law, and commanding with an iron fist thing, I can't say I blame him. Besides even though there are some hints that there are a lot of social problems, there was no military threat. So he would feel no need to intervene... now that the Cylons are back, however is a different subject. And Starbuck was preoccupied, she had resounded herself to a married life. No time to make trouble for the likes of Baltar or lead political and social rebellion.

I'm gonna strongly agree with most of this. Roslin's character has been depicted as deteriorating for some time, and I don't mean her health. I think that cancer is a subtle commentary on the content of her character (or maybe any politician). Remember who gave the suggestion to kill Lilly Kane... oh yes, the school teacher. Don't get me wrong, it definitely seemed like it was going to be needed, but where did the school teacher get her Tony Soprano mask?

It was clearly shown with the scenes involving the Chief that there was some social issues in labor disputes. I think political turmoil would eventually have followed. Am I blaming Baltar for that, not totally, that's just how politics are. But his playboy lifestyle and feigned indifference towards the social situations suggests something that, both Adama and Roslin seemed to elude to before.

Well it was Tigh who took the major power trip, Adam dissolved a supposed indepedent tribunal though. Still I think he would do whatever is necessary to the future of the colonies. If not him then Apollo who has continually shown that he will do the right thing in his mind no matter who it betrays (father) or how far it goes (murder). Yeah, but Anders played rebel for months on end. I doubt he'd be objective to the idea of teaming up with starbuck to kick arse. :D

I'm gonna strongly agree with most of this. Roslin's character has been depicted as deteriorating for some time, and I don't mean her health. Don't get me wrong, it definitely seemed like it was going to be needed, but where did the school teacher get her Tony Soprano mask?

Could be that because her conscious has gone with Billy's death, she is losing the plot a little, along with the stress of dying and such. :) She practically wants to kill someone in every episode now, the priests, the baby, the mother. I guess the idea is to make a 'facist murderer' in the form of a woman as the twist, as if you'd be the least to expect it. Everyone seems to just go along for the ride, rarely see questions of Roslin's motives and such which is maybe Moore's point and how such people get into power. Agreed, I have to admit some of the character changes seem a little radical at times. One minute Starbuck and Apollo are secretly in love, the next seeing other people and hating each other. I guess its a lot of story to tell in a short amount of time so things are compressed a little. Not complaining though, at least there is development. Some shows go on for 6 seasons without a single character development or evolution of relationships.

It was clearly shown with the scenes involving the Chief that there was some social issues in labor disputes. I think political turmoil would eventually have followed. Am I blaming Baltar for that, not totally, that's just how politics are. Those same issues were present beforehand though it has to be said, the prisoners who didn't want to work (btw, what happened to Zareck don't think we saw him) and ships/people refusing to resupply. Now they have to create a town/city from scratch on their own backs which takes a lot of hard work. In general the public sector is not held accountable for the economy/companies/people who create and build things, they just approve it. So I'd expect the people themselves to realise they are living in bumsville and start building proper homes.

I think the plan IS to add chaos to their empire, everyone acting the same, doing the same things, everything being predictable and sterile is probably not working for them. Who number 1 is; is of course the main interest. :) I really hope its not one of the main characters again, but they wouldn't keep it secret if it wasn't and I think they have wanted to hint and play with the idea for all the main characters. Adama and Tigh wouldn't make sense as they have had flashbacks (unless they were replaced like for like), same with Apollo and Starbuck. Gaeter (how is this spelled?) is the silent type so therefore one to watch out for, plus he designed the cylon link for Sharon and has no backstory and little interaction. Plus a lot of other subtle and convenient things that fits. Baltar I can't see it being for multiple reasons as discussed (the spine/sex thing being an obvious one). Dualla doesn't seem prominent enough. The chief was tested and cleared.

Geata, I don't think he designed the link for Sharon. Remember that all Sharon needed to do in the blackbird episode was shove a fiber optic cable into her forarm. So he didn't create the link, he just has the computer know how to understand what is happening.

When they go back to Caprica however he briefs the pilots on how he had managed to link sharon to the ships to allow them to jump as far as the Cylon raider could. Could just be smart but I think he is the most obvious/logical choice.

the obstacle that they overcame, as gaeta put it in the episode, was not the fact that they could physically intergrate their systems with cylon systems (we already knew they could do that with the cylon raider). The obstacle they had overcome was getting Sharon2 to cooperate and plot the longrange course for them.

Good points.. I am not complaining either. Just because we don't see why they do or don't like each other doesn't mean we need to be shown every detail. I like that they skip around from moment to moment. This always leaves room for great flashback sequences later on. I actually get Roslin's transformation (I was just being sarcastic earlier). Between her sickness, her career(suddenly being thrust into this powerful role), and losing Billy, I wholeheartedly see how she is/was decending into darkness. But I think that her political carreer was the real point of this decent. As made evident by showing her going back to being the "good school teacher" on New Caprica. I really think the writers were making commentary on Politicians or the power they are responsible for.

Again, I am not blaming these social issues on government, or administrations, or business. I do think they play a part in social decline (the age old arguement of whose responsible.), but ultimately it is up to people to be responsible for the way Industry, society, and government is run (IMO). But, I believe it is a fact that Roslin seemed to at least care about these situations and the people who are involved in them (even if she did make some questionable calls, that just seems to be the way it goes with power). Where as Baltar just cares about making these problems go away... not for the good of the people, but so that he doesn't have to be bothered. He is constantly looking out for himself and his own interests first, it's just the nature of the universe that good things still come from this sometimes.

My personal opinion on choosing a leader is that the leader should be chosen by their decision making ability. The ability to make the "right" call, is not determined by who's right and who's wrong, but by what the true will of the people who have intrusted you with the power would desire. Baltar will NEVER do this. He may come up with the "right" solution but it won't be because he was trying to do the will of the people. IMO, most of the time it will be the wrong call.

yeah, but even though the SAAB comparison is there, the original macross saga comparison is so much more relevant because the Macross saga story parralelles BSG2000 in almost every way (including the obsessive ace, and the enemy ace, going head to head, just like in SAAB).

Max Stirling fought Myria Purina a number of times in space, but Myria could never win. So she got micronized, and infiltrated the macross to assasinate Max. But she didn't know what he looked like because he was always concealled in the belly of a valkyrie. It's funny, she didn't know who Max was, but one night while wandering around the macross on her inflitration mission, she happened to challange max to a video game, and realized over the the duration of the game who he was. They ended up in a duel in a nearby park, where max beats her, and then they get married (which was a rather wierd and quick twist)

I feel a little sad that I don't get to come here and talk about what happened on the show this weekend. :( Damn it....October is too far away.

diddo, it's barely the 3rd month of the year, and we have to wait til the 2nd last month of the year for the conclusion. This is worse than the season 1 finally, and the Pegasus cliffhanger.

I almost envy those in Canada now who are getting all 20 episodes back to back every week.

[quote=Superfreak]yeah, but even though the SAAB comparison is there, the original macross saga comparison is so much more relevant because the Macross saga story parralelles BSG2000 in almost every way (including the obsessive ace, and the enemy ace, going head to head, just like in SAAB).quote]

Too true. The more I watch BSG2000, the more the parallels are there.

from Gateworld.net: Season Premier Spoilers, Beware

NEWS & SPOILERS

Actress Lucy Lawless (D'Anna Biers, the Cylon who posed as a Colonial film maker in Season Two's "Final Cut") joins the cast for a 10-episode arc in Season Three, starting with the long-awaited season premiere!

D'Anna Biers (Lucy Lawless) enters an Oracles tent to visit Selloi Dedona, a frail old woman who is not well. She knows who D'Anna is, and what she is -- a Cylon, "Number Three." But D'Anna herself is not sure why she has come here. The Oracle chews on a handful of chamalla leaves (the planet from which the drug that Laura Roslin once took comes).
Meanwhile, inside the Cylon Planning Ministry, Ellen Tigh is "frakking" an unknown partner. Elsewhere, Tyrol and Anders are a part of a new human resistance movement on New Caprica. They plant a bomb, and attempt to remote detonate it when a Cylon heavy cruiser filled with humanoid Cylons draws near. The device fails at first but later detonates, giving the resistance a much-needed victory.

Laura Roslin remains a school teacher on the planet's surface. Inside her school, she and her former assistant Tory examine several hastily-taken photographs, trying to identify the members of a police force -- possibly humans who are now collaborating with the Cylon occupiers. They await the return of Adama and the Battlestar Galactica.

Saul Tigh, meanwhile, is being held against his will in a Cylon detention facility. Brother Cavil is there, and indicates to him that Tigh may be there a while.

Back in the Oracle's tent, Selloi tells D'Anna that the Cylon has lost her faith -- she not only does not believe in the Colonial pantheon, but not in her own god either. She knows about the dreams that D'Anna has been having, and claims that she is a messenger from God -- just as her dreams are. D'Anna shares the same flaw as the legendary Medusa, she says, and it will lead to her downfall.

Selloi delivers her message to the Cylon: The hybrid child of Sharon Valerii and Karl Agathon is alive. Her name is Hera, and she is alive.

that was Boxey. He was the son of the Armistice Station Officer (from the Mini Series). Boxey was rescued from Caprica by Boomer/Sharon1/Cylon, where he was seperated from his mother, because Sharon would only take children, and those who won a quick lottery. Baltar was rescued in the same mission when Helo gave up his ride back to galactica.

He was then adopted, or that's what it seemed like, by Sharon1. He had a few appearances here and there. But the character just dissappeared, as stated before.

It would be really nice to see him again next season, and would have been really nice to see him in Rosalin's school in the season 2 finale. The dynamic between Boxey and Sharon would have been really interesting to watch, especially since she proved to be a cylon in the end.

Balta let it happen it was Adama, Roslin or Cain (alive tohugh), they would have stopped it but they couldn't and why did Rolin give in to cheater in the poll i wouldn't have.

I was reading on the sci fi borads and lots of people think that Pegasus should have like a mini-serise about Cain and ship and how they surived and stuff. I think it would be cool and Cain was one of the best things in BSG so i would love to see more really. And i thought it was a cool idea.

LadyVader
05-17-2006, 12:57 PM
I don't know... we already have an idea of what happened to Cain. I don't think we really need episodes showing us how psycho she was, and I don't think we need episodes to make her look somehow redeemable in our eyes. She was the Anti-Adama. Her role in this series was obvious from the get-go. I'd rather they focus on the Galactica really.

Iīm in the middle of the second season and I think this show should have as big a thread as Lost or 24 here... Hands down the most groundbreaking sci-fi series since The X-Files, in some aspects the best show on TV right now. It takes all the interesting premise elements the original show didnīt really mine and goes all way with it, dark but hopeful, brainy but heartfelt, and by being so organic it showcases how artificial and contrived pretty much all those Star Trek spin-offs were.

lol that's good. if ya could then the threat letters would start coming... trust me. but that was for a dif show... heh

Can someone tell me what's so great about this show that I should ever watch it ?
Well, I donīt think anybody SHOULD watch anything, what works for me may not work for you, etc.

For me, whatīs so great is this show breaks the mold of what sci-fi shows, especially space shows, are supposed to be. Take the naturalistic approach of something like West Wing or Sopranos and take it to space. The characters feel like very real people, itīs not about technobabble. The dramatic stakes are huge. Itīs about people who lost their world, their friends and families, whoīre in a desperate search for a new home, being attacked all the time, no time to rest, no back up. On top of it, the Cylons have evolved way beyond their old "toaster" look - while they still have models like that for attack - now they look and feel human enough to confuse the actual humans, even confuse themselves - some actually donīt know initially that theyīre cylons. The cylons have a plan thatīs not clear so far, you canīt even tell for sure how evil they actually are, even though they wiped out a planet. Thereīs a lot of religious undertones as well, regarding the old prophecies about finding Earth, the humans believing in multiple Gods while the cylons actually are monotheists... but itīs not an overly religious show, itīs one of many elements. Even the space CGI scenes get a different and fresh feel because theyīre shot in a sort of documentary style, shaky camera, sudden closes, etc. And some characters you just canīt help loving, most of all the old man - commander Adama, brilliantly played by Edward James Olmos - and Starbuck - Katee Sackhoff is quite a found and hot, too!

What do you guys think of talks of a spin-off?

I got confidence than RDM & co. can give us a good show...initially. But I would rather this "Caprica" idea be turned into a miniseries about the first Colonial-Cylon War. Give us about 6 episodes and call it a day.

To me, a Caprica series is stretching it. I want to see the war, and that's about it regarding the Colonial past. And I also think its a little too soon for BSG to go the prequel route.

The prequel should come from stuff that has reached iconic status, and that the audience can't get enough and wants to see more. BSG is hot right now, but it hasn't reached iconic status yet. If they split their writing talents at this juncture, the show might not ever reached iconic status. I would prefer that a prequel series would come around S5 or S6 when BSG has a more proven record of success and a swollen fanbase.

There were already some inconsistencies plot wise, so ill have to see wht they do next season, if they pull it off than great if they dont, I think theyll be rethinking why exactly they had that done.

here's a question for you:

at the end of the season 2 finale, President Baltar is confronted by a Number 6 who says she knows Baltar very well. Which Number 6 do you think it is? Is this the 6 that died blowing herself up with the Nuke? is this Caprica 6? Or is this the 'Shelley' Number 6?

I think that will be a key question in answering what happened with the so called peace movement.

TheCorpulent1

I think it's his Six from the colonies, in her new body. Maybe something happened to the peace movement while the humans were in hiding.

It doesn't mean they're set on killing Humanity, they're probably trying to subjigate humanity. Obviously SOMETHING must have happene in that year... I don't really think that they've backed themselves into a corner as long as they do offer soem sort of explanation. If anything the Peace movement was the biggest sort of 'huh' moment for me. It was far too sudden...

Speaking of that what corner is lost in?

Just got the new BSG comic for a quarter. Amazing quality for that price. I suggest everybody picks it up. It's in-continuity with the series (the entire storyline has been approved according to AICN), and set before Pegasus in the 2nd season.

The art is serviceable, and atmospheric enough. Starbuck continues her time-honored trend of Being Able To Do Everything At Every Time. The story is actually quite a treat, and has the exact mood of the series. I'm just glad to have a nice SF comic to read - good break from the hard-boiled crime comics and the tights.

About the whole 'Is Baltar a cylon' thing, I've been thinking, and this here is kind of a strange idead, but bear with me.
It may be that the Six Baltar sees isn't actually there in any sense.
She may simply be a visual metaphor for the "Cylonishness" of Baltars thinking, and how he's loosing his humanity, and becoming half-cylon, at least in the psychological sense.
Same for Caprica Six - why does she have visions of Baltar? Because she's become 'humanised'. It's just an image symbolizing her developing human psyche.
I would think since the real Caprica Six was working under the directives of the Cylon Command that they would also have something to do with her popping up in his head and would probably have put her there somehow. Apparently not. It seems that the only ones who know about their visions/hallucinations/infestations, are the individual having them.

Name an instance of Billy not being a sap.

Here's something else I've been thinking about.
The human ship designs are predominantly straight lines. There's a few curves here and there, but over all, straight and angular.
The Cylon ship designs are all curved.
You would think a robotic race like the Cylons would have an affinity for straight lines and angles.

.

what you'll notice, is that alot of the actors on Smallville, Stargate Atlantis, Stargate SG-1 and Battlestar Galactica rotate around alot. They're all shot on the same lot in Vancouver. So when shows need a solid actor, they seem to recruit from the local pool. I know there has been a lot of sharing of actors between BSG and Stargate. Geata was on SG1, so was that annoying deck hand kid (the guy who is essentially Cally's male counterpart, he was in the shootout with apollo when the cylons boarded at the beginning of season 2).

It's kind of interesting to watch sometimes. A buddy of mine in van. says he's seen a number of cool props out in the lot sometimes. He says he saw a viper at some point, and the stargate. Kind of nice when it's slightly close to home.

does that mean a single copy dies permanently? or an entire set of copies? Because they've pretty much made the cylons, so that how ever many you kill, you still have teh same actors playing them (good technique to save the cold hard $$$, they don't really ever have to hire new actors to play villains, cylon villains anyway, all they need is 12)
