Knaves it has been regarded as one of the best comic books out there right now and has been for some time. Although as of lately (imho) it seems to be falling off some and Kirkman is running out of steam.

Here is the first issue to read for free online, it gets a lot better from issues 1-5 then just takes off.

If you like that you might like this as well, which is also by Kirkman.

The Walking Dead (http://www.imagecomics.com/iconline.php?title=walking_dead_001&page=cover&resize=now)

It is very well written but has a lost more steam (imho) than Invincible has lately. The last 8-12 issues of it have been pretty disappointing, but it is a very good read up to issue 40 or so.

Weezy was good back before his Carter albums, and Soulja Boy and the other ilk are essentially just to hear the beats, not cause I actually like the music as a whole.

1. Who actually says "cream" anymore?
2. The best, and there is nothing better is Propellerhead Reason. Version 4 just came out, but I prefer to still use 3. You're gonna need a MIDI controller to use it and a MIDI interface. I recommend using M-Audio products.

If you don't wanna use any additional equipment, try Fruity Loops. I hate it, but it can get the job done.

What I find weird is, I don't like their CDs but I enjoyed their performance at Rock the Bells last year.

I dunno, i've always said it, I aint gonna stop now because its "out of fashion" :oldrazz:

That's not so weird. Some acts don't make good records but put on good live performances. And some with good songs on record can't perform well live. Nas for example.

It comes with 4 or 5 softwares, FL Studios 7 Producers XXL edition and a few others, CuBase and CakeWalk I think. Then it has about 15 VST's to expand your library of sounds exponentially, a few tutorials and guide on how to tweak sounds and things on it.

It's not too complicated, once you learn how to use most of the programs. Took me about 2 months to get FLStudios working nice and good, you just gotta put the time in.

Mike Lowrey - Don't be alarmed, we're negros!

There should be a list of instruments or voices on the left, a big step sequencer(called the playlist) on the right / top, and a small window with your current voices/instruments seperate from the rest (the step sequencer). From there, you pretty much just go through the different patterns (on the playlist) and it will make different tracks that you can do whatever with. Use the step sequencer and just fill in the little boxes for now for various instruments and when you play it it'll play what you did.

Theres a bout a billion and a half tutorials on Youtube, just look up "FLstudios for dummies" and there should be a whole series (around 4 hours total) that pretty much is a crash course in how to use it.

The new Murs is not bad at all...people are screaming "sell-out" over nothing! Murs has said that coming from the underground...making an album like this on a major label has been one of the most challenging to date. He approached it more like a concept rather than someone handing him a paycheck...because thats not how it works. So...again...not every track on every album is gonna be dope...but theres more to like on this album than people think...It sucks to see that some people will abandon him without even listening to the album just because the think he's trying to go mainstream.
Warner execs told him if this is a success they'll give him full creative control to do another Murs and 9th Wonder album! :)

Okay...I know I might take some s%&@ for this...but...the new Murs to me gets an 8.5 out of 10! The balance is that he's such a great lyricist that even if you're not feeling the beats, your still way into what he's saying...I've been listening to Murs for over 10 years now...he has come a long way and I'm happy for his success...and I'm even happier that he doesn't have to sell out to achieve this...people are complaining about Snoop being on the album...funny story...that wasn't Murs' idea...it was Snoop Dogg himself!

Most people think that somehow Warner was trying to get Snoop on the album....but it was actually Snoop that wanted to be on the album and not the other way around. Snoop is a superstar....Murs is just a guy about to catch his big break...Snoop knew Murs' music...which is a big WTF? and was waiting to free up his schedule just to finally get in the studio and jump on the album...of course it also helps that Warner was able to pay for it...but still...you have to admit that when you've got someone like Snoop saying "don't release your album yet" (the reason for so many delays) until I can make time to get on there...you know thats a good sign.

I've been playing around in FL studio, starting to get the hang of it. But does anyone know where I can get some new sample packs and modules?

when i used to use FL studio i would just add my own samples i found. theres different depends on what methods youre using for getting samples. you using a record player? or mp3's? the all have to be converted to a file extension which is compatible with FL. id also recommend trying to get a copy of reason maybe. all around its a better program. ive been using version 4.0 for the past year or so.

I've seen him about three times, and I'd say the second time was the best. He certainly put on a show. I think his set was a solid two hours, and he went through almost everything on both albums! Then had all his back-up singers and featuring artists (like Matthew Santos and Nikki Jean) on stage for him at the end for "Superstar", which lasted a little over twelve minutes!!

Hope you enjoy it, man!

I've seen him three times as well and his last show I saw this summer definetly the best. His live performance has improved a lot since I first saw him when he just droped Kick Push.

The live band has added alot more energy to his shows

Wow!

Last week, Houston rapper Scarface revealed in a surprise announcement that he was quitting the rap game after his next album Emeritus.

However, the Texas legend gave himself an out, illuminating his desire to craft one final album; a dream supergroup project between himself, Nas, and Ice Cube.

Upon hearing the news, Cube was ecstatic about moving the project past talk and into the studio.

“Of course, I wouldn’t even think twice about doing that…hell yeah!” Cube declared. “I think the album would be crazy, lyrics would be sick, and Hip-Hop would love it. It’s just making that business happen, that’s the part that gets funky. I ain’t never turned down these kind of projects, they just don’t happen for whatever reasons. But I’m up for some s**t like this because I know we can make a dope record.”

Uh, he's only NOW become relevant to the masses! What the hell are you talking about?!? Sure, within hip-hop circles, people have always known about Common, but it's only recently that he's gotten the level of mainstream attention he's getting now, and I would seriously argue your point of him not being relevant. Artists like Common are needed in the mainstream to balance out the glut of no-talent, chain-swingin' goofy bastards that keep gettin' record deals based either on a hot beat, a dance, or whether or not their songs will become the next hot ringtone, instead of rhyme skills.

When he says truly relevant I think he means musically what he has put out lately doesn't compare to his old stuff.

KenK

When he says truly relevant I think he means musically what he has put out lately doesn't compare to his old stuff.

But you could say that of virtually ANY artist, so to the point that it's irrelevant to heve make such a point. Musically, Michael Jackson was still relevant when Dangerous came out, but as good as that album is, it doesn't compare to Thriller.

To say nothing of the fact that most would consider rap music something of a "young man's" game, and seeing any hip-hop artist maintain their popularity into their mid to late 30s is impressive a feat in and of itself.

BAH HUMBBUG!
10-08-2008, 11:59 AM
I don't agree completely.

Yes him maintaining his popularity is a very impressive feat, but it's not solely based on his music, don't forget he is an actor now and some of his popularity is derived from that.
