IMO the novelization was better. Pyro was cool in the scenes he was in. It's 2:30 over here and I have to go to school in about 4 hours.

IMO the novelization was better. Pyro was cool in the scenes he was in. It's 2:30 over here and I have to go to school in about 4 hours.

I'm sure the novelization is better and maybe it can give me the characterization I want for certain characters, which the movie failed to satisfy me with.

I wanted a scene where Pyro is still playing with the lighter and then Magneto is like "I've got something for you".

I don't know... I really wanted a scene like that.

His character was fine with me.It just urked me how he just left with Magneto in X2 and then suddenly in X3 hes like "Hey Bobby, your lame and I hate you."

Yeah I guess Pyro could have gotten a little tweak in the character devolpment area but its not as bad as Angel & Cyclops was treated in that area.

I was disappointed. The Pyro I adored in X2 "died" in X3 so to speak. When he left with Magneto in the 2nd movie...you could of done wonders with him in the 3rd movie. Besides blasting a building, and blowing up some cars. I liked the evilness in him but what would killing the Professor accomplish? I hated that line.

They could have explained where his lighter went. Most of us know he had the wrist shark but those that don't think they messed up and they think Pyro can create fire.

The battle between Iceman and Pyro was okay but it could have been so much better.

I saw the movie twice. Since I knew what to expect the second time I enjoyed it more but they really never give you time to breathe. The action was fine but I needed more character development and drama. If they put in the effort it could have been better than X2 and longer for that matter.

Hmmm I was kinda disappointed in the film. I know that it is hard to fit all of the characters and plotlines of X-men into a film, but it just felt rushed, and each character got so little screen time.
I think that they may have overdone the evil-ness of pyro, just so that he would fall more easily into the evil villan steryotype. Evidently they did not have enough time to show any kind of complexity there, so he just gets stuck as a flat character, used to start conversation with Magneto to show the audience the bad guy's motives.
The cheezy lines. I despise them. The dialogue through the very, very brief fight between Iceman and Pyro was horrible. Could they not have come up with anything else? That entire scene is killing me.

as much as i liked x3, some bits were disappointing like some of u already have pointed out. I just felt the some of the film was to rushed, and i agree as much as i liked Pyro in X3. He was to evil, it was like he had no heart left.

Well apart from the scene when mystique was cured and mags didn't care for her after that. did anyone see the look on pyro's face? he looked shocked.

and calling Rogue pathetic? Jeez Pyro, nice one there. That was a bit harsh. I was dissapointed by no pyro and rogue scenes to. Rogue did suck up some of his life force in X2 at booby's house. So they could of had a scene talking about that or something. In a way it was like he had no emotion.

Pyro got little character development in X3 but then so did just about everyone. He did get to do some neat things like the flaming cars and yelling out the battle order. His out and out badassness seemed like a show of loyalty to Mags esp. in the forrest scence. I liked how Mag's ticking off of him was rather Fatherly than aggressive. I thought that was an interesting interaction.

That said they must bring him back for the assumed Young X-men spin off. I'd like to see him a little dissolusioned after Alkatraz and maybe take some time off to write some of his bad romance novels! LOL! Then Sinister or Apocolypse could engage him as a mercenary for hire. As long as I see some more crazy fireball action I'll be happy though.

Nope. He's with mags in the forest after the encounter at jean's house and then afterwards is at the clinic with bobby. I'm wondering where he dissapeared to during Mags visit to jean's and it's never touched on when he's seen with him in the forest before his going off to blow up the cure clinic. If I'm wrong i'm wrong, but that's what I remember.

I think Pyro's role in this movie has been underrated,...I guess the only thing to be sad about is the lack of Pyro's "creative fire" manipulation...I wasn't expecting to see it, so I wasn't really letdown by not seeing it or anything..

In X1 its the making of the fireball, impressing her. In X2 it is the showing off in the museum, the comment to Iceman about he can't hellp it that is girlfriend is getting excited, him following Bobby to find Rogue. There aren't that many in the movies, but there are a lot in the X2 novelization.

I loved it when he killed the guard because that's the Pyro I've written about and imagined. He didn't even think twice BUT I missed the sarcastic smart a**. None of his lines in X3 are memorable or creative for that matter.

I also wanted a scene with Rogue especially because of her expression after she grabbed is ankle. I would have liked to know what memories she saw or give a little hint as to Pyro's past. She is the only one that noticed he was missing at the end of X2.

Because he changed from cool smartass who didn't like uncomfortable silences to mindless henchboy with as much depth as a power ranger villian? I have to challenge this. I just saw x2 again today and he was so so more dynamic, interesting and cool than in this film, getting taken out by a wimpy headbutt no less. Seeing him in x2, you'd think he'd actually have a chance against bobby, but not here. He's as dumb and dull as the juggernaut, bich.

Pyro definatey pwned in X2...in X3, he's a goon with no imagination. (though that thing with the cars was pretty sweet).

I got a kick out of the goon thing at first, because it was kinda funny: Pyro acting all tough guy because he walked with Magneto. But that was all we ever got with him. I would have liked to see him grow out of that mold, maybe start to question Mags (he looked scared after Mystique got the cold shoulder).

And I so wanted to see more resolution between him and Bobby than a little banter and a head butt.

After seeing X2 again -- my God, his character sucked in X3 (no offense). I prefer him in X2. The whole Pyro-causing-chaos-at-the-Drakes scene was still amazing and I don't think any of the Pyro scenes in X3 top that.

Pyro in X3 was disappointing, but I tried to dismiss that one-dimensional quality by explaining his reasons in my head. Some scenes might've been deleted showing more of his true personality, but what was there... I don't think he really meant half of what he said. I thought he was just... honestly, part insane from the horror of what he did to himself. The horror of the world around him, too. I think he deadened his heart a lot over time, but mostly out of fear and hero worship and agony and the feeling that no one else would want him.

He didn't want to kill Xavier. No freaking way. That I took as pure bull****, regardless. Trying to impress Magneto (and it backfired.) He was telling himself he wanted to do it because he couldn't stand the pain, the shame, the guilt he would've had to feel otherwise, which he couldn't bear to show in front of anyone. And his comment about Bobby's family and girlfriend were more bitterness turning into hatred out of pain, isolation, and regret than mere taunts.

There were some cool moments, but they just didn't show any depth, and I think Aaron Stanford--though I adore his acting--didn't seem to be trying as hard this time around, or more likely it was his interaction with the director ("act like the comics!")/poor editing (even the best actor seems bad if you choose their flub-ups)/time constraints (not as much opportunity to bring out the best in your actors). He's good enough that he easily could've made much more out of even a weak set of lines, given the right set of circumstances. Look how much his expression as he gazes into the photograph at Bobby's house showed us. He didn't have to say a bloody word. I actually felt there was a moment like that in X3--the Mystique scene where he does this double take to Magneto, I could just HEAR his disbelief, like "he's... going to just leave her? When she's one of us? HFS, if he'd do that to someone he loved and respected, someone I was a bit in awe of, what would he do to a kid he barely knows?"--but the editing seemed to cut it WAY short so you didn't get the full effect. Damn Fox for this. I blame them because they are so typically arse. They are the safest culprit to pin it on.

Oh, and the brown hair was 900 times sexier, by the way.

It never does. Never, never does. In fact, I love--and rewatch--EVERY scene with him in it, but that's the most amazing and impactful scene of the entire film, in my opinion. Seriously. It's so... human... boy, that sounds ironic. I mean emotional and realistic. After what he saw happen, you can't blame him. You really can't. You feel so much sympathy for him. And it's awe-inspiring and horrifying all at once, as you see someone just... break... the dam just burst... wow. WOW.

I always think of Pyro when I hear these lyrics. It makes me think of how the friends he left behind would feel, especially since it fits with the theme of Magneto telling him he's a "god among insects". I could almost swear it was written for Pyro.

i saw the trailer like a month ago probably, been wanting to see this movie for awhile now. LOL Aaron's character is wicked in this movie:)

Pyro was dulled down and it saddens me. I understand that X3 is a massive movie and there are several cast, but how could you go from making Pyro this outspoken adolescent to a mere henchman? His powers advanced greatly and he got a cool costume, but where's the guy I fell in love with in the 2nd film? They took that away and made him Magneto's "biatch."

He had a couple cool lines, but for the most part, he was no longer the rebel without a cause, but the rebel restrained... I'd follow Magneto too, and I'm sure Pyro wasn't as leashed as the movie made him be, but the final cut edited so much out it's not fair.

I would have no problem sitting in the theatre for a 2.5hr. film so we could see what was shot. The DVD better be packed with a crapload of deleted scenes...

Pyro in x3 was well done imo.

That whole scene with iceman confronting him outside of the clinic was very good. In x2 it showed his desire to belong, and in x3 he belongs to the brotherhood. Although perhaps after x3 i wonder if hed rethink that choice. Magneto shifted his perspective about Xavier a bit, and he got beaten by Iceman because he didnt get trained as well as Xavier teaches.

Agree 100%. I actually really liked that scene: it was clear Pyro was just posturing for Mags (maybe after seeing Mystique get the cold shoulder he was worried for himself) - when Mags shot him down he had this look on his face like 'o crap i didn't really mean it!'

I believe they would have shown Pyro die. They didn't, the same way they didn't show Juggernaut and Callisto die. Jean didn't rip apart absolutely everything. It's quite possible that Pyro was missed, or came around and escaped.

I prefer X2 Pyro as well. I remeber a lot of him in X2 when he set the bloke on fire and going crazy at the drakes house lol. I agree with you Lex he was more developed in X2. I also liked him metting magneto in the second. I really can't remeber him that much in X3 accept from the final battle.

Ive never visited this thread before so sorry if its been posted already, but is Aaron also in the movie The Hills Have Eyes? I read his name in the credits but could not remember him at all in the movie.

Aaron played Doug... the main character.

He was more define in X2. We got to understand him better.

In X3 he became more of a mindless henchman, and there wasn't enough explanation of why he switched sides, and whether he was conflicted with his past. I would have liked to have seen more scenes between Iceman and the X-Men, discussing his switch and whether he made the right choice.

agreed. I think X3 could have captioned more on his deeper feelings in feeling inferior and how being a mutant did alienate him, but sort of gave him some significance and power. PRolly why he pumps himself up, cuz having that power is sort of what gives him strength (maybe in his own mind). Remember in X2 when that guy took his lighter away in the foodcourt? "not so tough now are you kid?" Maybe he feels he has something to prove.

The showdown (if you wanna call it that) between bobby and pyro was inevitable, but it seemed so much like "lets just do it". there's so much more going on there, like pyro's jealousy of bobby's (previous) close family ties, etc...you could see it when he looked at the family photos in X2. X3 sort of lacked any depth in their relationship and interactions. Even if it was just the battle, they could have at least exchanged a few lines that hinted or explained more of the tension between them.

He was awesome in that film. Not only showed off some good acting but kicked mucho ass too. I wanted to stand up and cheer when he killed that one mutant in the house and then put his glasses back on with that triumphant music playing in the background.

Someone just told me that there was an extra bit after the credits...is this true? I didn't stay in the cinema because I was frankly unimpressed with the film, but I am very curious as to what such a clip would include. Perhaps more clarification of the status of some of the characters?

At least you can prolly assume Pyro isn't "dead"...just knocked out heheh. They definitely coulda done more with the showdown with Bobby...Pyro's scene in X2 was a way better demonstation of the extent of his powers, IMO.

I'm loving the fact that Pyro gets more screen time in this film. I just cant get enough of him or anything Aaron Stanford!! But what happened to him at the end of X3? We dont see him again after Bobby knocks him out. :confused:

Pyro for me served as the closest *Gambit* figure in the movie (though he's nothing like him, lol). Johnny lights me up baby :D

Singer did an excellent job with the pyro/rogue/john love triangle in X-2, a unique blend of chemistry/friendship :up:

I think a little bit of Pyro regrets he's not an X-Man. Did anyone else catch how he looked out the helicopter as he flew away with Mags and Mystique? I didn't see any menace in his expression, I saw a lonely, misunderstood little boy:(

then again i'm probably just reading a little too deep into this:)

^^ For sheeze. He was just like "your gf's pathetic" or something. There was just so much more in X2...you could tell by just a look how envious Pyro was of Bobby...not even necessarily just because of Rogue specifically, but because Bobby has something solid, and a family (even tho eventually they uncomfortably abandon him in a sense). I thought X3 would also explore Bobby's relationship with his family, how they would react finding out he's a "hero", an XMan now or watever. As well, I think the scene where Mags is giving a speech in the forest is the perfect opportunity to really get more out of Pyro's character. There's a shot of him looking sort of wistfully out at the crowd...more could have been done to show sort of his inner conflict or even his motives behind joining the brotherhood. A sense of belonging? A sense of "family", of unity? Because he REALLY REALLY believes in Mag's agenda? Whatever the case, he conveyed a lot with just a look in X2 (looking at Bobby's family pics). The same could have been done/explored in X3, as well when he has that exchange with Mags ("I would have killed Prof. X myself" or something). What do you guys think?

Don't take this the hard way but...
Rogue and pyro?? No way...
Pyro is cool...
But the only thing I can see hapenning between them is that Rogue takes his powers away for good and that she has firepower

^^ I never thought Pyro and Rogue were good together either, I just thought the triangle for the sake of Pyro's character development would have been better had it continued. Rogue and Pyro don't really fit IMO, but the more important thing about the "triangle" is to show Pyro seeing something that he's never had, or that he envies: Bobby's close relationship with Rogue, someone he loves and who loves him back. For Pyro to see that she would never return the feelings adds to his sort of self-loathing or general brooding i think. Makes his character even more credible in terms of joining the Brotherhood too, becoming that "hate-filled bad guy" :D
