DragonCon always has a good costume showing, mostly because it's a general sci-fi fantasy con instead of just a comic con.

San Diego Comic Con has more attendees (120K to 150K, versus DragonCon's 50K-60K), but considering that DragonCon is held inside of several hotels instead of one huge convention center, the turnout is very good.

The most hilarious ones are the people who dress up as the Hulk. I'd say only 1% of the people who cosplay and do Halloween as the Hulk actually have the build for it. The other 99% are either depressingly fat or ridiculously skinny.

If everyone was honest about the superheroes they're in shape to dress up as, I think you'd see far less obese Supermen and more Bouncing Boys from the Legion of Super-Heroes.

For a second there I was going to defend it as a great makeup job because you can see the hairline..... then I thought since that hair is so perfect, that it's probably attached the mask itself......

I judge it a mask -

1. The black wrinkle lines are perfectly airbrushed, and no smudges anywhere. Makeup doesn't survive very long at a con.

2. There is no white makeup affecting the hair in anyway.

3. If you look closely at his right eye (near the center), there seems to be a slight color shift in the black from the mask to the black makeup around his eyes underneath.

4. It may be the reason that he has his head tilted down so the edges don't show.


I searched and found a very similar looking mask on deviant art, and for some reason an error won't let me see the page for the whole thing. But my guess would be that he bought it custom made from someone like this.

You know, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. I can just imagine some girl going to a costume shop, picking a skimpy Supergirl outfit, and strutting around a convention just to see how many looks she gets just to make her feel better about herself.
