Character you would like to play: Silver Surfer

Powers: The Silver Surfer possesses vast power known as the "Power Cosmic," which was granted him by Galactus as a part of the process of physically restructuring the Surfer's former organic body. He has the ability to channel ambient cosmic energy into his body at will, and expel it violently as concussive force or gently as a means to restructure molecules according to his mental design. He can generate beams of energy with sufficient destructive force to annihilate a planet or generate such subtle amounts of energy to restructure the molecules of the natural pigments within a plant to change its color. The Surfer can rearrange the molecules of matter to create other configurations, and can transmute elements.

The Surfer possesses Class 100 strength, allowing him to lift in excess of 100 tons. He can additionally increase his physical strength with the Power Cosmic, enabling him to move virtually limitless amounts of mass. In addition, his body can move and react at superhuman velocities.

He can survive without difficulties in the vacuum of outer space and hyperspace, and his body can withstand the stresses of travel at near-light speeds in this universe and of even greater speeds, in hyperspace. By using his board (see below) to exceed 99% of the speed of light (186,000 miles per second), the Surfer can shift himself into hyperspace, a dimension in which velocity is not limited by the speed of light. He's an A-grade energy and matter manipulator, can augment his physical abilities, travel at the speed of light on his board, and can channel the Power Cosmic for massive blasts of energy as well as other effects.

Here's an idea. Some scientists (in England, I beleive) created mice with highly excelerated and enhanced healing factors (they healed damaged nerve tissue, which is impossible in most other creatures). When they figure out how to pass that characteristic to humans, sign up for it. Then, afterwards, get a red costume, a katana, and some guns, and become a mercenary. That will give your life a bit more meaning, I'd think.

No one told me about this. Regardless, Strange doesn't know of Ghost Rider's peril, and beyond that he's got to find the Void and figure out some way of dealing with a being who can take on a well fed Galactus, not to mention enough psychic power to get through Strange and the Silver Surfer's defenses (all the more impressive when you consider that Strange has taken down Moondragon with the Mind Gem...).

Then he's got to find the Hulk and deal with whatever problems Banner may be having, and then of course there's Thanos...

The Sorceror Supreme has a lot on his plate at the moment.

Hey guys! Sorry for taking so long to get my awards up. I also decided to stick with my own awards system, rather than using the model SuperFerret suggested. So, here are my Marvel RPG Awards For 2005:

BEST STORYLINE: THE POWERPLANT SIEGE
The original and, in my opinion, still the best arc of the RPG, way back at the start of Season 1. Both the heroes and the villains played their part to perfection, and the whole thing came to a fantastic ending. But we’ll get back to that later…

BEST HERO: SPIDER-MAN (ElectroFlare)
This was a difficult one, as we’ve had some great heroes in this RPG. But in the end, Spider-Man clinched it. The character did have a shaky start in Season 1 – with several players quitting as the character after only one or two posts, RPers talked about The Curse Of Spider-Man. However, ElectroFlare finally did the role justice. He made the death of Mary-Jane into an emotionally devastating internal arc that lasted throughout the latter part of Season 1 and well into Season 2. Spider-Man was taken into very dark territories as a character, but emerged in Season 3 as a stronger hero than ever, even when working outside the law. ElectroFlare has been consistently excellent as Spider-Man throughout this RPG, and so thoroughly deserves the award of Best Hero.

BEST VILLAIN: DOCTOR OCTOPUS (Doc Ock)
This was also difficult, as we’ve had a whole lot of great villains. But I’d say the winner is none other than out first Big Bad – Doctor Octopus. In the early stages of the game, he was quite simply unbeatable. Many heroes tried, and failed. Even Dr. Doom was forced to stand down against Doc Ock, in a truly awesome verbal standoff. For a long time, Doctor Octopus was the MVP of the RPG, and to this day, I don’t think any villain has managed to top him.

BEST DEVELOPED CHARACTER: DEADPOOL (Electro UK)
A special mention must go to priest, who played as Deadpool in Seasons 1 and 2. But I believe that, since Electro UK took over as the character in Season 3, he’s got even better. His posts are, of course, hilarious. But one thing I really appreciate is that Electro UK has slipped in a good deal of character development in these posts. Of course, with the excellent development EUK gave to Electro – another contender for this award –this shouldn’t surprise anyone. We’ve dealt with Deadpool getting a sidekick, his increasingly ambiguous sexuality (!), and Deadpool’s moral identity crisis. This last point is particularly well done, with his membership of The Avengers representing the good side of Deadpool’s character, while his partnership with Bullseye represents the evil that still exists within him. But the best thing about Electro UK is that, whether he’s saving the world or killing people, Deadpool always remains inherently likeable. And that is a great achievement, Electro UK. Well done!

BEST FIGHT – DOCTOR OCTOPUS VS SPIDER-MAN
In many ways, Season 3 was a letdown. But this fight was one thing that certainly did not disappoint. The epic battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus all across New York City served as a dynamic finale to the season. Doc Ock and ElectroFlare very wisely kept the two eternal foes apart from a full-fledged battle through 3 seasons, right up to this climactic encounter. And boy, was it worth the wait. Think of the clocktower/train battle in “Spider-Man 2”, only longer. And with much better dialogue.

BEST POST – THE DESTRUCTION OF NEW YORK CITY
I apologise for not being able to find the actual post. If someone has it stored away anywhere, I’d be grateful if they could retrieve it. But I’ll try and set the scene. It’s Season 1. Doctor Octopus is holding New York City to ransom. He has hijacked a nuclear power-plant, and is threatening to blow it up and bathe the city in deadly radiation unless he is paid several million dollars. Pretty conventional stuff. But what if Doc Ock were to beat all the heroes who tried to stop him? What if he were to get his money and escape clean? And what if he were to then proceed to wipe out New York City? Well this nightmarish scenario became a reality in a single shocking post. Highly controversial at the time, in hindsight, I think it was a great shame that it was retconned. It still stands as the most chilling moment in the history of the RPG.

So, congratulations to all award winners. Here’s to a great 2006!

Best Hero: I really have a hard time addressing this one. I have to come to Duker Jay as The Ever lovin' blue-eyed thing. He's really charactized the Thing for me.

Best Villian: I have to agree with KS on this one. Doc Ock has been great and really shown me what Doc Ock is truly about. I love planning our fights and story arcs with him, especially the one where he brainwashed Spider-man.

Best Developed Character: Electro play by Electro UK. He really showed me the human side of Electro, and that he's not just a cold hearted killer, and in fact, quite the opposite.

Best Fight: Daredevil vs Bullseye in the warehouse. After their game with the gun and one bullet...that fight was awesome. Incredible and undeniably the best.

Best Post: I think Superferret awarded this one too...when Bullseye killed MJ. That was just an amazing post, and that was what gave me the chance to step up my RPing role and become what some people to be one of the top players in the game. The post showed me how to tap into the character's feelings and thoughts and motivations, not just how he can lift a bus...

I'm just getting back into the RPG but, let me tell you, I was having a blast during my last stint. (That is, the first time I played...regrettably, I joined a month or so ago for a couple of days before dropping out again.) You need only to look at one of my posts mapping Doom's conquest of Europe to see how much time I put in.

Anyways, I don't feel like I've been back long enough to do my own nominations but...I'll get some up sooner or later.

After that, I had him go back to his city in Limbo, Chronopolis. That's where I left it with him.

Strange villains, as reality shattering as they can be, aren't reason enough for the Defenders to form. I'm thinking a Kang/Dormammu alliance as they seek to conquer Earth and shape it to their whims before a key event happens, one that Kang knows about and will prevent him and Dormammu from seeing their goals completed.

I'm not sure what taskmaster would think, as it's kind of a duo thing,... but there's a jail break going on between our posts right now (Taskmaster and Shocker). Keep in mind that we have a specific destination we have to be at by its end, but with Shocker just freeing a bunch of the prisoners, there's something for you to do right there. Taskmaster's been ancy to use his new powers, so you could fight him and Shocker (who's a little less eager), or you can make a mission of capturing all the prisoners who escaped. It's not everyone, mind you, but if you're interested then PM me so you can play with it, but not mess up anything I have planned.

I imagine he'd be able to tell it's a scent not of this Earth, but my problem is him singling this trace of a scent out of hundreds of other more potent smells in the area. Wolverine has a good nose, but that's down right impossible to do given the circumstances and variables of the situation.

I imagine he'd be able to tell it's a scent not of this Earth, but my problem is him singling this trace of a scent out of hundreds of other more potent smells in the area. Wolverine has a good nose, but that's down right impossible to do given the circumstances and variables of the situation.

Yeah. I mean, scent is the most powerful trigger for memory. Logan, who has a superhuman sense of smell, would be able to notice a scent that was out of place.

Well, he'd probably notice the scent of the comsic energies (or how the effected the air, since technically energy doesn't have a scent itself) that were most likely on Taskmaster.

He would probably notice that Taskmaster's scent is different, i.e. he's changed somehow. But I still doubt he'd be able to smell Thanos' scent, which would be very faint, over Taskmaster's, which would in turn be mixed in with a myriad of other potent scents.

I think it's somewhat reasonable for Wolverine to detect a difference in the smells Taskmaster's teleporter may be giving off...likening it to a more alien technology than the ones he might normally encounter on earth.

I didn't take JRK's post to mean that Logan had specifically narrowed it down to Thanos, only that he determined there might be a cosmic player at this point.

In my opinion, Logan has shown the capacity to determine a lot with his smell so I'm not sure it's beyond his abilities.
