In this thread we will discuss all things Kea Wong and Jubilation Lee. What we want from the character in this film and possible future films. I am aware that Jubilee's role will be a cameo at best, but she's always been one of my favorite characters and I feel she needs to get some more credit.

Some topics to look at for X3:


How will they display her powers if they do? We've all seen and heard how they planned to handle this when Singer was around, but will Ratner and his crew do it differently?
How will they make her power display signficantly different from Beverly Mahood's Dazzler cameo, assuming Mahood shows off Dazzler's trademark powers?
How do you want Kea and the writer's to portray Jubilation as a character?

That coat was an obvious attempt from the costume designers to be like the yellow coat without the 90's "tackyness". Its just a plain ol' black leather coat with yellow paint splattered on it. And no, its not green paint.

Hollywood is tough. I know its cliche but the minorities have to have to fight harder for roles than caucasions + you've got producers giving roles to musicians (50 Cent, Justin Timberlake, the simpson sisters, Alicia Keys etc etc) just because they're popular not because they can act. I'm sure X2 got Kea more auditions/screentests but it obviously didn't get her more parts.

He said that out of all of the minorities right now, it seems like Asians are still struggling to get reconized in Hollywood. I just want her to have dialogue in the film and have at least one scene where she uses her powers. Basically, I just want her to have a little more to do than in X2 and i'll be satisfied. Part of me still really hopes she gets to fight someone(like avalanche or whomever is actually in the script).

I mean there are exceptions i've seen in both cases where these people get to play other things but they don't get them nearly as much as blacks and hispanics and definitley not as much as whites.

It's funny...back in the 50s, I remembered that Middle Eastern people had a 'exotic' vibe in Hollywood. Remember Looney Toons or any other cartoons from the 40/50s? Anytimes they would show the middle east, it was full of hot bellydancers and flying carpets!

Kea's a fine replacement I guess. The role was minimal so it's not like we can judge by her acting. I just hope if she's in X3 that the power is displayed more accurately, none of that spark of electricity crap.

The thing with Katrina in part one though was that when she said her line it sounded like she's not a native English speaker. I don't remember the exact line but it was something like "How weird is that?" and it sounded very...umm...soft, meek not at all what Jubilee should be like.

I actually liked the Jubilee in Xmen,but Kea Wong is ok. I would love it if they actually show her in a major scene with her actually doing something. I think the yellow needs to come back. Her outfit in X2 was just tacky. If you guys thought the jacket in X1 was dated so is the fanny pack. She doesn't even look trendy, she looked ensembly challenged.

Jubilee is my most favorite superhero ever... probably because of the Animated Series... and that she is/was close to my same age... I said WAS, because she is always made younger for some reason.:mad:

Anyways, I like Kea Wong better than Katrina... she's really beautiful and looks like Jubilee... especially from Generation X. If anyone read the X2 novelization by Chris Claremont, Jubilee had a bigger part than she did in the movie. She had a good deal of dialogue with other students in the museum scene, talked and tried to comfort the other captured X-Kids in the Alkalai Lake facility, and had a small fight scene in the mansion attack sequence. When she was running to escape the mansion, a soldier shot her with a tazer gun... but she absorbed the electricity, turned around, and blasted it back at him... which sent him flying through a wall.
I don't know why they didn't do that scene in the movie though, :(

I don't like the idea of them making Kitty and Bobby hook up. Why not up Jubilee in role size to do that? Jubilee is more of a go getter than Kitty when she wants something.

Kitty is a bigger character overall in the X-Verse, plus she's a major player in the current "hot" X-book "Astonishing" and has been around for nearly a decade more than Jubilee...I'd wager she has a larger fanbase too.

I'd also be happy with just one scene where Jubes gets to use her powers (PROPERLY represented). Too bad Ricksters info is probably false...

I don't think it'd be hard seperating her powers from Dazzler...so long as they stick with classic Dazzler and not Ultimate who seems to be a cross between Dazzler and Jubilee...

Dazzlers could just be bright white/yellow laserish or strobe

Jubilee's on the other hand like on the animated series, multi coloured firework like streamers with appropriate sound effects and explosive impact.

Here's the thing. Remember that Xverse article that Fox asked Ted and Matt to take down? In that report, it mentioned that Kea was there and HINTED at a Cajun....

I think that Ted has addressed that article, but I don't remember. Honestly...I think that I asked him about that a while ago (the question was for Ted to contact Darrin again), but I didn't get a direct answer. I don't know if he ever gave me a direct answer.

Actually kinda makes sense, what with her being Chinese. Chinese names are often compossed of characteristics and traits that you want in one child, like happinesee (or in this case jubilation), intelligent, etc. Obviously Jubes parents just translated her chinese name into Jubilation for her english name rather then give her a new name.

Because, like the movies, the cartoon was a different translation of the comics. She has never really been a core X-Man. Yes, she has had her fair share of comic-time but never as part of the main group. They've not doing it to screw over all the hardcore Jubilee fans or anything like that. They're just staying true to the fact that everyone they put on the X-Team has got to be someone that's been a major player. Hence the current team. :D

This is something I don't understand, Why Kitty is already a member and Jubilee not? I really know why, but don't like it, because Kitty is more popular and has been a member in some comics... Yup. As that scene in the trailer is editted into two parts, this screen cap was taken in the first part of Leech running up to Storm. What's weird is, in this first part, Iceman is nowhere to be seen but in that second part (the first pic that i posted) Bobby is looks like he was there the whole time.

The Front Row of Students is Siryn, Kitty, Jubilee, and Jones. It makes logical sense that Jubes is sitting next to Kitty, as they did the very same thing in X-Men 1.

The powers was a deleted scene. If that had been in the finished product then she could have easily had been added to the team roster but that went to Kitty. Hopefuly X4 then.

Jubilee really should fight or offer support for one of the battles. With all of the brotherhood members, the X-Men are shorthanded and are lacking ranged characters. Storm and Iceman are the only two that can offer ranged backup so long as Cyclops actually passes away- Jubilee is perfect for the job with blinding and explosive abilities.

I agree that they could do with one more member with ranged abilities - Cyclops would be ideal but Jubes could be a backup.

Also I remember the rumour going around here that they might want to branch off with a film around the x-kids. Like a Gen-X but in this movie's continuity. If they do that then it would be a good opportunity to have Jubilee there.

the girl with the pink jacket? She isn't even the same skin tone as Kea Wong. Kea Wong/Jubilee is the tall tan skinned Asian female in the purple/pink outfit in the first row... The Front Row of Students is Siryn, Kitty, Jubilee, and Jones. It makes logical sense that Jubes is sitting next to Kitty, as they did the very same thing in X-Men 1.
Hmmm that brings up another big point for me... Jubilee is the same age and grade level as Kitty, Rogue, Iceman, Pyro, and Colossus, according to the first two films. The other kids didn't appear until X2. Jubilee was even shown as the most attentative and intelligent student in the first film's deleted scenes. How can she be at the mansion for such a long time... and not appear to have any training whatsoever... with no chance at even trying out for the main X-Men team? Rogue got on the team before her... and this is the Rogue that can't fly and isn't super strong or invulnerable. Movieverse Rogue wouldn't stand a chance against movieverse Jubilee in a one on one match in the danger room. lame in my opinion.:mad:

well we wouldn't know, since we don't know Movieverse Jubilee's powers, do we? Maybe all she can do is create flashy sparkles and small firecracker effects, which was basically her original powers.
