BatmanEVH, if you don't give credit it implies you created the whole thing and that's a really shiiiity thing to do. You will get caught out anyways. That said, it's great manip. Suggestions: lighten the shadows from the face, make the coat black and the tie lime green.

But honestly, I still think the piece I posted is one of the best works of Heath as Joker. Looks cartoony, looks crazy and still looks like Ledger in a way. They probably cant get the exact same effect in a real movie, but it's a pretty nice manip.

I attempted to improve on that earlier manip of the joker, but it proved to be an impossible task, I attempted to remove that weird hat he had on and replace with hair, but the angle of the head proved too difficult to do it. So I just gave him the traditional bowler hat, which normally I don't like doing as I prefer seeing his pretty green hair, but it was necessary in this occasion.

will, the thing about it is, you seem to just have more of an issue with that style or look, I went with in that one, which doesn’t fit your personal ideal, of what he should look like, which is different then, expressing it as being a bad manipa, as in terms of the quality of the work, I may of put in to it, so, though, your not obligation to post constructive criticism, if you8 choose conment, its usually best to at least state something, in a way that does not come across, as criticism about someone’s time, effort, work they put in to they manips, just comment on the style (ex. “that’s not how I would want him to look, that’s a really ugly look” wouldn't of sound half as bad, as your “That's a really, really bad manip“)

furthermore, I could care less if you like my work or not, I didn't make it personally for you, or is it even really how I think or want the joker to look, it was, just something different, some people want that kinda look, some people (like yourself), want the cartoonish look

Hey everyone, this is technically my first manip and I'll state this right off the bat, its not that good. Anyways I drew this with some pencils and markers, and then touched it up in photoshop. I think it can be improved a lot, so if anyone wants to, be my guest as I like the concept. Hey everyone, this is technically my first manip and I'll state this right off the bat, its not that good. Anyways I drew this with some pencils and markers, and then touched it up in photoshop. I think it can be improved a lot, so if anyone wants to, be my guest as I like the concept. For example, if you can make the silhouette of the Joker look more professional, be my guest, as I said this was just a crappy drawing I touched up. Take a look!

Thanks for the compliment. But I can't manip that into a more realistic TDK poster. It's the concept itself, the drawing, that stops it. I think it's fine as it is. Cool thanks, and I might use the idea of a little one liner up in the right corner of the poster as its gonna match my idea.

Basically the poster's gonna be Joker's arm righting on hit list, with Dent, Gordon, Mayor etc. and Batman circled in blood and the thing in the left corner will be "1 By 1 They Will Fall....." If anyone can think of a better phrase let me know.

To answer you question... No I don't. Not in that way, not with that filter. Sure charcter posters have been done before in all kinds of movies, but the way I did it... with a "comic book" filter? Nope, I've never seen it. I've seen just about every movie on the planet and I also collect movie posters.

Character posters: you said you were going to do one of McShane but didn't. Or didn't like the pic I posted. Whichever. I decided to just see what I could come up with. I tried to keep it similar to the look & feel of the BB posters. I liked how it came out so I decided to do some for other castings/characters I was interested in.

The filter: I had no intention of using that filter/effect. While I was playing with one of my manips, I think it was one of the Maggie/Bruce ones, I accidently opened the file with an older program I used to use, which for some reason hasn't been working for the last few months. I was waiting for it to crash, like usual, when it worked this time. I thought I'd see what filters/effects this program had (couldn't remember) and found the one I used on these (among others). And I liked the effect it had. Personally, I don't think it looks much like the filter you used. At least on the Hoskins one.

You were, in a way, the catalyst for me making these. Since I was attempting to do what you couldn't/wouldn't. But besides having a large portrait picture of the character, you didn't have much of an influence. Not that that's what I think you're trying to say. I'm just clarifying things.

Theres no real guide to doing something like that on Photoshop, all I can recommend is playing around with all the tools/settings and you will start to learn what can be used for what, I basically taught myself. If you would generally however like to know exactly how it's done, let me know and I will pm you, but I do recommend just exploring the program yourself and get a feel for everything, theres so much to be done with the program

This is the joker I'd love to see personally. I'm glad I stumbled through this thread, otherwise I would have never seen this. Those eyes, they are evil. the suit is perfect (straight out of the comic book Joker's first appearance, white undershirt with purple suit) And that smile is great. I'm almost sure this has been enhanced a little, particularly his eyes and mouth, but they could always use make up and prosthetics. I absolutely love this, best manip of a Ledger Joker I've ever seen. He just yells " The Joker" to me.

Penguin:"Deep into that darkness peering..." is a line from Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. I thought it suited the Penguin with his bird fascination & TDK as well.

Harley Quinn: "We're all mad here..." is a line from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.

Hush: "Between friends there is no need for justice..." is a quote from Aristotle. Someone Hush often quoted in the comics and a line I think is quite apt for his fued with Bruce.

Black Mask: "O make me a mask..." is a line from, and the title of, a Dylan Thomas poem.

Poison Ivy: "I believe in God, only I spell it 'nature'..." is quote from Frank Lloyd Wright. And I think is very apt for Ivy.

I think this sums it all up. It wouldn't matter what I posted, a select few would have to bash it just because "THEY" don't like it or "THEY" would have done something different. GREAT! Go do it! :up:. I hope you do, we need more art here.

I think another poster said it best "90% of the art that is posted here is crap". I'm not pointing any fingers or trying to start a fight but...

Most everyone here think his or her work is the best because they made it. The truth is most of them couldn't make it in the industry because they don't know what good design is or what professinal standards are. I'm not saying the posters I made are perfect for the moive industry, by they are "MY IDEAS" and really that is the point. Aleast they have style and unity which is more than I can say for some of the stuff I've seen on here.

It's the viewers right to post whatever feelings they have towards art, I'm sure if someone said 'it's good' they would be happy with it, but if someone should dare say 'it's bad' people throw hissy fits that it's not constructive criticism. By far the worst response to negative feedback over art is 'I would like to see you do better' my lord, what an awful attempt at defense, whether they can do better or not is far from the issue, a member puts his 'art' up publicly, than they should be prepared to face the feedback, good or bad.

I would assume for our enjoyment slash evaluation. If not, if they are just for you, why do you even bother to post them here? Keep them for yourself so you could always gloat and pat yourself on the back with a sturdy "Yeah, I am real genius". Your work is not alive until it is evaluated by someone. Proust might have written his greatest novel but without people actually seeing and reading it and then judging it, his novel would have never been trully "complete".

I don't particuarly like this, mainly due to the unnatural colouring you've given him. It looks very much like you've used paint, and it just looks odd. Yeah, the color of the face needs lot more work, so does the hair. The "paint look" is a filter that I put on the posters. As far as the one sheet goes, yes that is very true. I wasn't looking to win any awards with these posters. I was just going for what the Matrix Reloaded posters went for... the charcters with the text at the bottom.

i don't think you can get any more 'natural' without taking away the fundamentals of the Jokers appearance. okay maybe his hair could reasonably go a 'bleach&chlorine' colour green (blonde with a green tint) but that would be lame imo.

It certainly was ballsy, but I like Barbara, always have, and it really aggravates me that Joker did that, and Batman didn't even knock his teeth out through his ass at the end of the book.
