The Joker looked incredibly lame in that fanfilm imo.
No surprise. They tried to do an exact replication in live action film of a character that in that comic was so stylised that you couldn't possibly, with any amount of prosthetics, make an actor look even close.

Well, my thoughts were: immediately after he gets burned, the flesh would look more sore and perhaps peeling off, but after a while some of the skin would grow and it would look more "dry" like that manip. I don´t really have the stomach to go look for pics of real acid burns on the web, but I´ve seen my share of real-life burn (though not necessarily acid) victims in my life that I have an idea of what it would look like after a while.

Eventually yeah. Progress has been going really slow because this model has so many polygons that its grinding my system to a halt. I hopefully have figured out how to manage the resources better tho so I should be able to make a ton more progress more quickly. I'll post it again when its finished :)

Although, you should avoid drawing every tooth individually. The eye usually sees them in groups; like a white silhouette, if you will. Of course, being that this is a year old, you may know that already...

Yeah tell me about it, that's what I do. But tools don't make the artwork they just help in the process.

In all sincerity, the reason this fails is because it looks as if it was pasted together. Your overall key to creating believeable, in this case manips, is to have everything blend together and appear as if it's all part of the original image. Shadows are not solid lines, they're gradual. And for the most part, they won't be completely black. You also need to work on composition.

But I think it's not the skill that you lack so much as it may be the fundamentals of design. You're only as good as the effort you're willing to put forth. So try and learn the basics, and all that jazz, and keep at it. You're bound to make something eye popping, in the good kind of way that is. :cwink:

And to end on a good note, I like the idea of the letter O being a coin.

The lens flare seems totally out of place. Given that the sky is overcast and the overall image appears rather dreary, putting a lens flare in it causes the effect to be rather forced in my opinion; or at least it's too big. On the other hand, if you were to add some rays of light, or some such, seeping through the clouds, I think it'd be much more effective.

That's what I was looking for.

I'll make some changes when I have some time based on the notes given. FYI the shading aside from the hair is the same as the original pic. I just changed the colour balance. This was just a first run at that. I was hoping someone would suggest another colour scheme or perhaps an approach on the hair issue. I never took design in school (hence the job and little free time to play on here) so I'm not sure how Photoshop can do hair or how well?

Suggestions are VERY much appreciated.

True, but I usually find it best to draw a line for the teeth to create that inital profile, and then break it down to achieve a more symetrical and accurate look. The problem with the drawing in this case is that the teeth aren't symetrical (and if this is intentional, it doesn't work with the design) and that each tooth is drawn in the same block shape, instead of the usual progression including canine, molar, etc. etc.

For the record, so the original artist knows, I definitely dig the drawing and its style.

Thanks for the crits, but meh...I think I like it the way it is. There have been more demented versions of the Joker then mine before in the comics. Interesting feedback though, ty again.

No Matter how dark or nolan-esque you make robin, he is still a companion tobatman, an dbatman is a loner. i mean he's got gordon, but batman doesnt need robin. still, robin doesnt look like a robin bird. batman looks liek a bat, and the criminals think theyre fighting a night creature. even if dick did look like a robin, robins arent scary. robin could be reinvented very well, he just wouldnt fit into the mythology of the nolan films

yeah...i guess. i use pens and stuff to ink.
i do most of the heavy lifting with the pencils, though. i do pretty tight pencils when i know i'm going to ink them.
then they get dumped into photoshop and the levels get adjusted so the blacks are super black and the whites are super white.

Batman doesn't need Robin. Robin needs Batman. Batman sees Robin as a younger version of himself, since pretty much the exact thing happened. He helps this kid out by training him, instead of letting him get himself killed or ruining his life.

Besides, if any comic book character in the history of comics is known for working with others, it's Batman. Not to say he likes it, but he's had more sidekicks, partners, and team-ups than anyone else. Hell, for a while there was an entire monthly comic dedicated to Batman teaming up with another hero.

None too happy about how the Dent side of TF's face turned out (I think I made it look too disproportionate trying to adjust the head shape and where the acid hit him), or the "hairline" on his bad side, and I continue being entirely displeased with every attempt at the Joker I make (simply doesn't look evil enough), but enough with the self-defense.

Gotta be honest: the white background for Batsy is because the same for JOker would have clearly revealed the big manip to assemble the Tux' and Joker's face !:yay: :cwink:
