Current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell made an appearance on Bubba The Love Sponge this morning on Sirius Satellite Radio. During the show, Bubba played a clip of Kurt Angle saying he could beat Chuck in an MMA match. Liddell said Angle is not used to getting hit for real and that he would hit him hard. He added that Angle would have no idea what that would be like. When Bubba asked Liddell if a fight with Angle would outdraw Liddell/Tito Ortiz, he said he had no idea and guessed that Angle has a huge fan base from his WWE days. According to those who listened, Liddell didn't take the comments by Angle seriously and tried to avoid talking more about it.

I guess Liddell thinks wrestlers don't get hit hard:huh:anyway seems he isn't interested in beating up the mentally deficient

Yeah, he probably doesn't know that the bumps, etc. hurt. Liddell would wreck Angle, but I'm glad he avoided it as best he could. Angle is one of those guys you should just ignore, at all times. :o

He didn't seem to bash wrestling the way that fighters tend to do, however like you guys said I don't think he's aware that bumps, and stiff shots hurt. A lot.

I forget who it was, but one wrestler (I think it was Terry Funk) said his doctor told him each bump and fall he was taking was the equivalent of being rear ended by a car going at a very slow speed. So while not much at first it will take it's toll on your body. Then add in wrestlers do this up to 300+ days a year compared to just a game a week or match a week or something and I'd say their used to the pain.

Honestly I think Angle would lose against Liddell, but (even tho it comes off corny sounding anymore) he is an Olympic gold medalist. He knows his fundamentals well enough to be considered world class, whether pro-wrestling has dulled him any I don't know. I have a feeling tho that he would put up some good MMA fights and would pay to see a few of them.

The current plan in TNA is to bring in Doug Basham and Damaja (formerly known as Danny Basham) as a new heel tag team to be managed by Christy Hemme to feud with the Voodoo Kin Mafia.

In the long run in her feud with VKM, Hemme is expected to turn heel. The idea is that the male audience can't get a girl, and certainly not one that looks like her, so therefore they want to see hot women being degraded, with Kip James representing the males in the audience.

In her tuxedo match with "The Fat Oily Guy" at Against All Odds, the idea was to get Kip over as a face and Christy as a heel. Russo's original script called for BG James to cover up Hemme with a towel after she had been stripped, but he refused. He said that if the idea is for VKM to be faces, putting a towel over Hemme would turn him heel.

- Johnson is also reporting that Kurt Angle is scheduled to appear at the Steel City pop culture convention on 3/24 in Pittsburgh, PA.

- It is expected that Christopher Daniels will be finishing up as a Ring of Honor regular soon. Daniels worked over the weekend in ROH sporting a beard.

- Dave Meltzer is reporting that the Basham Brothers might only be used for a single shot.

UFC President Dana White, while being interviewed on Fox News Fight Game, pulled out all the stops in denying that he's in negotiations with Kurt Angle.

"I've talked to Kurt, and you know, Kurt's full of sh-. Kurt doesn't really want to fight. He had the opportunity. We talked, and then he went with TNA. Not to mention he's pretty busted up from wrestling. And you don't just go from the WWE and jump into the UFC.

I offered him a deal where he could sit out for a year and train with (Randy) Couture and guys like that and get into it, and he turned it down."

TNA NOTEBOOK

-- Kurt Angle is pestering anyone and everyone who will listen, telling them they need to bring in Sylvester Terkay once his WWE 90 day no-compete clause is up. There has been serious discussion about bringing Terkay in and doing a series of amateur-style matches on PPV, mostly because with Angle as champion, there's only one top guy he can be paired with (Joe) and they've already burned that program into the ground.

-- Jeff Jarrett is upset with the direction of the company lately, and has pushed to have longer matches on television. He's also given Vince Russo an edict not to write so much material for the show. At the last tapings, Russo showed up with a 42 page script...for a one hour wrestling program.

-- Over 50 individuals appeared on TNA Impact last week. TNA Impact is only one hour long. You do the math.

-- Sonjay Dutt was injured during his match with James Storm this past week at the tapings. Dutt went for an elbow and Storm decided he didn't feel like taking a bump, and Dutt jammed his shoulder pretty bad. It's the same shoulder Dutt injured in Japan a long time ago, and he was hospitalized for it after the tapings. There is a lot of heat on Storm because he didn't seem to care that he'd injured Dutt by being lazy and careless.

I agree. When he was on TNA the fans hated him and wanted him out and the belt off of him. After seeing his back all puffy after the belt match it hit me, how many other main stream wrestlers would go thru that? I think I got a bit of respect for Jarrett where there was none, he probably wants TNA to succeed as much as anyone. - Mike Johnson is reporting that TNA will be losing the rights to the NWA name and the NWA titles in the next several months. TNA has plans to introduce their own set of World and Tag Team titles very soon. One scenario being discussed would see Samoa Joe win the NWA title and then toss it down saying he's the TNA champion instead much like Shane Douglas did in ECW back in 1995.

Over the weekend, at an NWA show in Canada, Bryan Danielson made a challenge saying he wants to be the NWA champion. The NWA committee met and once the titles are gone from TNA Danielson is in line to be the next champion.

- According to reports, Kurt Angle was paid $10,000 to work for New Japan Pro Wrestling in Tokyo back on 2/18.

- Speaking of Angle, he is trying to convince Paul Wight (The Big Show) to come to TNA. Wight is keeping his options opened, but is mostly interested in working with Hulk Hogan again. Wight, now 35, has lost about 50 lbs. and is training hard.

- There is talk of the recently released A1 (formerly of Team Canada) relocating to Louisville, and trying to secure a WWE developmental deal.

Kurt Angle Speaks On UFC, TNA, Jericho, Brock, Vince

Kurt Angle appeared on the Bubba the Love Sponge Radio Show today. Highlights are below.

- Mentioned the Destination X PPV on Sunday.

- Said Scott Steiner would never be able to kick his ass in a shoot fight and he knows it.

- Bubba asked Angle if anything new is going on in regards to Hulk Hogan, Big Show, and/or Test coming to TNA. Angle said he has spoken to TNA management about all three as well as Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. Angle said that Vince is "ripe for the picking."

- Angle said that he thinks WrestleMania being all about Vince McMahon and Donald Trump is desperate.

- When asked about Chris Jericho signing a contract with TNA, Angle said "no comment."

- Angle told Bubba that he never lies to him.

- Angle mentioned how he put so many people over in WWE and lost more than he won.

- They played a clip of Dana White of UFC saying that Kurt Angle was full of "*****" and "busted up." Angle said that White was mad because he turned down UFC in favor of TNA, mentioning that White wanted him to work exclusively for UFC. Angle said that TNA has again started talks with UFC about having him work with them in the future. Angle said he is "torn" between TNA and shoot fighting.

- Angle said that Randy Couture would train him for anything he did in UFC.

- They talked about the Couture/Sylvia UFC fight on Saturday night.

- Angle said that a fight between him and Couture would be one that everyone wants to see. He said he wasn't sure if he could beat Couture, but did say that he was a better wrestler than him.

- They went back to talking about UFC. Angle said that White told him he can't work for TNA and UFC at the same time which is why the deal didn't go through, but added that White told him he would draw the biggest buyrate in UFC history.

- Bubba put Dixie Carter over as a great businesswoman.

- Angle said that Carter has already given him permission to work a UFC fight and that now it is up to Dana White & UFC.

- Kurt mentioned that EliteXC and IFL also made him offers.

- He told UFC to reconsider getting involved with him.

- One of Bubba's crew members asked Kurt when he is actually going to do a shoot fight because he has been talking about it for months. Angle said that he is learning different styles and he will fight when the time is right.

- They talked about Angle fighting Mirko CroCop.

- Kurt plugged the Destination X PPV on Sunday.

- Kurt told Bubba to talk to Dana White again about him coming to UFC. They even made plans to have a live conference call between Angle and White on a future show.

- Kurt said that TNA is important to him but that he really wants to work a fight and that Dixie Carter knows that.

- Kurt said that when he was in WWE, Vince McMahon even gave him permission to work a shoot fight, but that soon after he broke his neck.

- Kurt was asked if he would leave TNA for UFC. He said he wouldn't because he is "the franchise" of TNA and because he gave Dixie his word.

- Kurt again talked about how he would be UFC's biggest draw ever.

- They talked about how Kurt working for TNA and UFC would be good for both companies.

- They briefly mentioned the PPV on Sunday.

It's interesting to note that virtually all Angle talked about was UFC. When TNA came up, he seemed to talk about it in passing and then direct the conversation right back to UFC and shoot fighting.

TNA and NWA have been working on ending their working relationship and the ramifications could begin as early as the TNA PPV this Sunday. Ending the relationship means that the NWA will take back their World and Tag Team Title belts, and that TNA will need to create new belts.

It also means that TNA will no longer be able to reference the NWA history as a way to add lineage and credibility to their World and Tag Team Titles.

The main problem with the working agreement has been that TNA has not been following many of the rules that the NWA has regarding using their name and titles. The main one being that NWA requires to know in advance when a title is going to change hands. TNA has not been notifying them of this.

A split has been expected for awhile which is why TNA stopped using NWA in their name a long time ago (TNA was initially known as NWA-TNA).

The original partnership took place because Jerry Jarrett thought that having the NWA name tied with the TNA name would give the new promotion instant credibility for their weekly PPVs (TNA started as a PPV-exclusive promotion).

This isn't anything new. ECW also broke away from the NWA back in 1994 with a famous promo by Shane Douglas that established the new ECW belt.

More: As reported earlier, NWA and TNA will be splitting soon, with TNA no longer using the NWA name or titles.

It appears that one of the major problems between the two is that TNA wasn't paying the fee rights that they were supposed to pay based on NWA rules that require them to pay the NWA territory in that region a rights fee for running shows in the area. With TNA planning to run more shows around the country, it wouldn't make sense for them to continue to pay NWA territories a rights fee. Plus with TNA now on national television, they don't really need the NWA name anyway.

TNA will probably just begin calling their current champions "TNA Champions" rather than NWA Champions and give them new belts.

Meanwhile, the NWA plans to put their World Title on former ROH Champion Bryan Danielson.

Here is a follow up on the story posted earlier about Kurt Angle being linked to steroids in a sting focused on the Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center. Angle was one of many star athletes named in the sting as clients of the center.

Dave Meltzer reports that Angle failed a steroid test for nandralone (decadurabolin) prior to being released by WWE last year. At the time, WWE suspended Angle for 30 days and he and WWE later had a falling out, opening the door for him to go to TNA. Nandralone is one of the drugs that the report claims Angle got through the center between October 2004 and February 2005.

If Angle was using the drugs, it may not have been illegal since he had a prescription for them. The only legal reason to prescribe steroids is for medical reasons and most athletes (and wrestlers) could get prescriptions for steroids, claiming they use them to rehabilitate injuries. Of course, WWE allows its wrestlers to use steroids for medical reasons, something other sports organizations and worldwide competitions (ie the Olympics) don't allow.

Kurt Angle is also being mentioned in the Associated Press story that will likely appear in many newspapers and other media outlets throughout the week. TNA or WWE are not mentioned in the stories as the article mainly plays up the fact that he won an Olympic Gold Medal.

FEAR THE BAT
03-07-2007, 12:56 AM
Aslong as he didn't test positive for steroids when he won the medal he could just shrug it off as it was only for his injury rehabilitation. And since WWE allows it, eh, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

The Goodness 03.07.07: The Non-Alternative

In the past month or so, my columns have been devoted almost exclusively to the WWE. In fact, during my time at 411mania.com, dating back to when I first started in the summer of 2004, nearly everything I've written about has been about the WWE. In recent weeks, I've received a few e-mails from readers wondering why I don't write about TNA. They've even wonder if I'm just a WWE "mark" that refuses to give TNA a chance. I'm here to tell you I've given TNA a chance. I've watched more of their shows since Kurt Angle arrived than in their first, oh, five years combined.

The deal is simple: as it stands right now, I don't like TNA.

This isn't a knock against any of the performers or wrestlers in the promotion, some of whom are very, very talented. Obviously, someone like Samoa Joe would be a star in any promotion. Someone like Christian Cage just needed an opportunity to spread his wins and let the world see his talent. And some of the X-Division wrestlers have picked up where the WCW cruiserweights of the late 1990's left off. But it just doesn't add up. It's tough to explain, though I will try, but Impact is just not an enjoyable show for me. I've never ordered a TNA pay-per-view and I don't think I ever will. The problem is that TNA needs fans like me and other hardcore wrestling fans to buy into the promotion. There are those that have but, and this is only my general feeling, a large portion of wrestling fans just don't like the product TNA is giving us and don't buy it as a true alternative to the WWE.

Let's start with what I feel is the biggest hindrance to TNA and that is their insistence on having a pay-per-view show every four weeks. Maybe it's necessary for the company to stay afloat financially but it's killing it creatively. How can you effectively build an entire card worth of feuds in less than a month with just four hours of television time? The answer is you can't. Instead, matches and feuds get recycled quickly and stretch through pay-per-views. If you're eagerly awaiting that first Samoa Joe/Kurt Angle match, you can miss the show. Why? Because the odds are really, really good that there will be a rematch that you'll have to pay for too. The short period of time between pay-per-views also eliminates the possibility that TNA, whether on purpose or by accident, will stumble upon an epic feud. Look at how the WWE will have roughly six weeks, or about 30(!!!) hours of television, to build up WrestleMania. The WWE, for all its faults, knows how to build to a big show. Does TNA even have a big show? Has any match received more than a couple weeks hype? It hurts the product. And leads to the second big problem...

The Impact shows have become wrestling on speed. I know the Attitude era of the WWF and, to some extent, the Nitro era of WCW had that feeling too. But I never felt overwhelmed by an episode of Raw in 1999. Yes, it was fast-paced but it was realistically fast-paced, if that makes any sense. Watching Impact, it feels like there are 30 guys thrown on my screen in rapid fashion like someone throwing pieces of Silly Puddy at a wall to see if it'll stick. Nothing gets developed during the course of the show, which in turn leads to nothing getting developed for the pay-per-views. It's tough for me to follow and I really, really don't feel like I need a pen and a pad to keep with a wrestling show. It should be much easier than that. What if TNA cut the roster, cut the pay-per-views to two hours and started to build an audience based on a fewer number of feuds and wrestlers? Is it really necessary to get everyone on a pay-per-view that less than 50,000 people are going to see anyway?

The most frustrating aspect of TNA for me is the inability to keep up with who's face, who's heel and who's turned on who. In the WWE, you know where the top guys stand almost immediately. Even if you haven't watched the WWE in two months, you can be fairly certain that Cena's still the top face, that guys like Edge and Orton are bad guys and Mr. McMahon is still evil. Sure, there may have been some alignment switches throughout the roster but for the most part, it's pretty similar. When a big star turns, it's a big deal. In TNA, I just don't know. What has Kurt Angle been in his TNA run? Does TNA even know? Do I cheer for Christian? Should I boo him? What the hell is Sting doing? I know the era of clearly defined "good guys" and "bad guys" has passed but there at least has to be some roadmap for the fans to follow in order to determine just what the hell is going on. So many things have rushed, so many feuds started and completed in the blink of an eye, that it's tough to keep up with.

Let's not forget that TNA has a serious, serious issue with being the WWE's long-distance #2. Remember when the WWF was getting killed by WCW and did those embarrassing Billionaire Ted skits in 1996 that everyone hated? Or how the Vince Russo-led WCW tried to take shots at the WWF with Oklahoma and such? It's a sign of weakness. That's what VKM, Christy Hemme and others come off when they take shots. Why even acknowledge the fact you're wrestling's red-head step-child at the moment? Why not try to create your own identity? While I'm ranting, is this really the best way to use Christy Hemme? A former Playboy playmate, one of the few women to wrestle at WrestleMania and achieve moderate mainstream appeal? Really? A match with a fat guy in a tuxedo? Gee, I wonder why TNA isn't getting everyone that watches Impact to buy their pay-per-views.

If I sound cynical or annoying it's because I am annoyed at TNA. There is so much potential there. The six-sided ring is different and new. The promotion gives talent like A.J. Styles and Christian an opportunity to perform and shine that they wouldn't get in the WWE. But they're pissing it all away by trying to become WWE-lite. The individuality of TNA, whether it was the X-Division or matches like the King of the Mountain, are slowly eroded to the point I feel like I'm watching a bad episode of WWF Heat from 1998. Whether TNA's innovations were good or bad, at least they were TNA's, not an imitation of a company that is the undisputed king of professional wrestling. It's no point trying to do what the WWE does better because TNA can't. TNA needs to be its own company. It needs to put on better matches on Impact. It needs to move out of the "Impact Zone" and look like a real wrestling company. It needs to stop bringing in celebrities to get 10 seconds of airtime on an ESPN2 morning show no one watches. It needs to bring the wrestling fan what it wants: more wrestling. I'm just not very confident they're going to do that.

As I mentioned above, on my website TooMuchSports.com I have started a look back at all the WrestleMania shows with five key points. I call it WrestleMania in Five and it will continue throughout the month. So please check it out.

- David Young, Elix Skipper and A-1 were told about the decision to let them go several months back. The plan was to bring them back at some point but that will no longer be the case. This may be an indication of how much power Vince Russo really has with the company, since he has always been a big fan of Skipper in the past. A-1 is expected to go to OVW and try to get a WWE deal.

- Hector Guerrero will be wrestling and getting into angles soon. TNA wanted to involve Eddie Guerrero's name in an angle but Konnan refused to do anything other than make a passing reference to him.

- Most of the comedy on the shows comes drom Dutch Mantel, who handles the Eric Young and Kevin Nash material, as well as the Abyss storyline, while Russo's main projects are Ron Killings, VKM and Christy Hemme. A lot of the X Division guys are unhappy with Mantel about the Nash segments, feeling they benefit nobody but Nash. Mantel feels they should get more comedy onto the show and, at the moment, there is nobody on the booking committee who is a big proponent of the X Division.

- David Eckstein is donating whatever money he makes from TNA to charity. He is getting along well with people backstage but people don't really think he's good on TV. The feeling is that A.J. Pierzynski is good on the show but he has a 'big star attitude' that rubs people the wrong way. Pierzynski also got really mad at Don West after West made some negative remarks about his character on colour commentary.

- Kurt Angle is trying to get Paul Wight to join. He wouldn't be able to use the names Big Show or The Giant as WWE owns both intellectual properties. Wight is hanging back and waiting to see what Hulk Hogan does next as where Hogan goes, he'll go too. He has been training hard recently and lost about 50 pounds, putting him at about 460.

- LAX and Team 3-D will have a Ghetto Brawl at Destination X. This means there will be Italians and Latinos at ringside like in a Lumberjack Match. They will then build towards an Electrified Cage Match at Lockdown.

The official website of TNA star Kurt Angle has posted a letter written by Angle responding to recent reports of him being involved in the steroid investigation in Florida. The following is what the letter says:

The following is a statement from Kurt Angle regarding the recent Sports Illustrated media reports about the use by athletes of performance enhancing drugs obtained through the internet:

I did not improperly receive prescriptions. It is well documented that in my career I have broken vertebrae in my neck on five occasions and each time the course of treatment was under the care and supervision of my Doctors. Any attempt to link me to the athletes in the current news accounts who may have improperly sought performance-enhancing drugs is without foundation.

TNA still has not commented on the situation.

According to sources close to top TNA star Kurt Angle he is very upset with the recent media reports linking him to the steroid investigation in Florida. As we reported earlier here on LordsOfPain.net, Angle issued a statement denying any claims of abusing steroids and that he had those prescriptions for medical purposes. The source also notes that he is especially upset with the media in his hometown of Pittsburgh saying he is about to cut himself off from them and this whole issue is having a negative impact on his entire family.

Speaking on Kurt Angle, he will be a headliner at the Wrestling Reunion convention in Carteret, New Jersey on June 2nd.

- Shane Douglas hasn't been used since several weeks back when he fell asleep backstage right before a taping started.

- Konnan is now walking on crutches, but is still using a wheelchair for TV to give him the Godfather effect.

- Bob Backlund is under the impression that he will indeed face Austin Starr sooner or later.

- Shawn Stasiak, 36, was backstage at the most recent TV tapings. He told people he was thinking about coming back to wrestling.

- Bill Goldberg this past week said that he's accepted the fact that with his age, he will never shoot fight, but he is open to wrestling again for TNA specifically, but only if they give him the right offer.

== TNA NOTEBOOK ==

-- I contacted the TNA office immediately after Sports Illustrated broke the story about Kurt Angle receiving non-prescription steroids from the Palm Beach Rejuvenation Center on Tuesday morning. The official TNA stance is that there is no comment, but Angle has issued a statement through his Web site saying that the allegations against him are untrue and without foundation. Angle was employed by WWE during the time in question. There are two problems with Angle denying the allegations. First is that a publication like Sports Illustrated wouldn't publish the story in the first place if the facts hadn't been checked. While it's one thing for Angle to go on Bubba The Love Sponge and make outlandish claims, it's entirely another for a respected (well, sort of) publication such as SI to print something that hasn't been checked with a fine tooth comb. The second problem is that they wouldn't single Angle out because of his pro wrestling background, because SI is sports-centric. Yes, they occasionally mention pro wrestling, but it's usually in a joking manner or in an aside. Angle was mentioned because he is a former Olympian.

I don't expect much to come of this, if anything. It is not illegal to buy steroids, but it IS illegal to use them, and since they have no proof that Angle actually took the steroids (aside from simply looking at his deteriorated body), there's little chance anything could happen to Angle or World Wrestling Entertainment as a result. I expect that the names of more wrestlers will be released at some point, but I don't see any heat on Vince McMahon coming since this allegedly happened before they instituted the Wellness Policy. Investigators aren't looking to send any pro athletes to jail; rather, they're trying to shut down distribution channels to make it harder for athletes to gain access to this stuff so easily.

The best part of the story wasn't Kurt Angle, not by a long shot. The best thing I heard, quite possibly in my entire life, was that Evander Holyfield was denying that he'd taken steroids despite the fact that the drugs were delivered to one "Evan Fields" who also had the same address as Holyfield, and when they called the number Mr. Fields had listed, Evander Holyfield answered the phone. He still denies any involvement. Fantastic.

-- Also regarding Kurt Angle: the TNA office is supremely upset about him continuing to do off-the-cuff radio interviews without the permission of the company, but he's got a creative control clause in his contract that also extends to media interviews. One TNA source described Angle's contract to me as "he can basically do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. If he decides he's going to do an MMA fight and take ten months off to train without finishing up storylines, he can."

-- Despite Dixie Carter's recent claims that we should "stay tuned" to see if Big Show, Hulk Hogan or Chris Jericho will debut in TNA, I can tell you with 100% certainty that Hogan and Big Show are not coming in. Show's lost about 60 pounds the right way, by eating right and doing tons of cardio, and if he comes back it'll be for a limited schedule and it'll be for WWE, and even then it will probably only happen if Hogan comes back, as Show is firmly in his corner. Given a recent talk with someone in the TNA office, I don't expect that Chris Jericho will sign anywhere unless it's WWE. That's not to say that Dixie Carter isn't trying extremely hard to bring him in; she's offered several big money deals (on par with what Angle makes as the highest paid performer in the company), but all have been rebuffed.

-- Christopher Daniels will be coming back with a new gimmick. Vince Russo pitched about 9 different gimmick ideas for him and all were overruled by Jeff Jarrett. I'll try to find out more about his new gimmick for next week's report, but no promises.

-- It has become apparent that Dixie Carter is madly in love with Vince Russo's booking, or at least she's been so blinded by his "success" outside the company that she can't see the forrest for the trees when it comes to the current situation. There are several people close to the creative team that are starting to see Russo for what he is (hack), but there's nothing they can do it about it. The dynamic right now is that Russo will bring a gigantic script into tapings, and Dutch Mantel, Jeff Jarrett and Jim Cornette will spend hours trimming stuff and cutting out the absurdity. Creative meetings are also supposed to be funny in that Russo will write stuff for Cornette to do, and Jim will shoot them down one by one.

Eric encourages the fans to chant "Eric," and they do. Roode asks Young to have the fan chant "Robert." Roode shoots on the fans. Young grabs the mic, and tells Roode that he can't make fun of his friends. Young said one of his good friends have encouraged him to leave Roode. When pressed, Young wouldn't reveal the name of friend. Roode tells Young to quit, but reminds him if he leaves, he can't wrestle anymore in TNA. Roode slaps Young, and Miss Brooks smiles. Young grabs Roode, but realizes he can't strike him. Roode tells Young to go get the car, as they have business to do.

DESTINATION X PPV

- Opening video aired.
- The announcer's welcomed us to the show, pyro went off.

(1) Non-title/Ghetto Brawl: LAX (with Konnan) v. Team 3D (with Johnny Rodz). Konnan took note of Hector Guerrero, who is in the Spanish announce position. Guerrero stood up, but nothing came of it. In a classy move, Tenay acknowledges the passing of Ernie Ladd, as Team 3D entered the Impact Zone. All four guys start in the ring. Garbage cans are in the ring. Hernandez did the dive over the top rope onto Brother Devon. Cookie sheets are now involved in the match, as all four men brawl outside the ring, and into the crowd. Brother Ray encouraged the fans to chant "3D." As they continue to brawl in the crowd, fans chant "TNA, TNA and "3D, 3D." The fans follow it up with "this is awesome." The action finally returns to the ring. Devon gets the first pinfall attempt on Homicide. Devon hit Hernandez in the head with a garbage can lid. Devon does his spot off the top rope into the groin of Homicide, being held down by Brother Ray. Team 3D start drinking beer (guess they were watching Raw and ECW this week). Devon goes out and gets the table. As they set up a table, five Latino nation members jump Team 3D. Rodz comes out and starts to clean house. Homicide strikes Rodz, allowing Latino nation to beat down Rodz. Devon's "brothers" from Brooklyn run it, turning this into a ghetto brawl! Doomsday by 3D, but Homicide kicked out. 3D by Team 3D, but Machette pulled out the referee as he was counting. Alex Shelley came out with a camera to do some filming. Shelley climbed the rope, and frog splash Devon (who was laying on the table). Homicide pins Devon at 14:50 to win the brawl.

- JB interviewed Rhino. Rhino admits to being afraid tonight.
- The announcers ran down the PPV card.

(2) Double bullrope match: Petey Williams and Gail Kim vs. James Storm and Jackie Moore. Before the match, Kim and Jackie are tied together, same for Williams and Storm. First pin or submission is going to win this one. Fans chant "Petey!" Kim wrapped Jackie with the rope around a ring post and slapped her across the chest. Storm wraps Petey with the bullrope around the ring ropes and kicks, but is unable to pin him as Williams got his feet on the ropes. Storm hits the eye of the storm, but Petey kicked out. Williams blocked a Canadian Destroyer attempt by Storm. Williams used the rope between Storm's legs, but couldn't pin him after a DDT. Superkick by Storm allowed him to pin Petey at 7:53, after Jackie low blowed Williams when he tried for the Canadian Destroyer.

- Backstage, Leticia interviews Steiner who is still confident. Cage storms in, and tells Steiner he needs his help since Tomko is in Japan. Steiner tells Cage he is on his own. Cage grabs Leticia and takes her with him.

(3) Chicken Wing submission match: Senshi vs. Austin Starr. During the match, the announcers wondered why The Great Muta arrived to the PPV. Starr worked on Senshi's shoulder to set him up for the chicken wing. Five minutes into the match, out came Bob Backlund. Senshi tried for the chicken wing, but Starr was able to counter with an arm drag. Starr does the suicide dive onto Senshi on the outside, into the guard rail. Senshi blocked a brain buster attempt. Chicken wing by Starr, but his feet were under the ropes, causing a break. Senshi forces Starr to tap out from the chicken wing at 11:09. After the match, Backlund wanted to shake hands with Senshi, but Starr attacked him from behind. Starr snaps and puts the chicken wing on Backlund, as referees pull him off.

- Backstage, JB says Cage is winning 54-46% in text voting. JB interviews Styles. AJ said Rhino should be afraid because tonight he is out of his element. AJ said its Rhino's ego that got him into this spot. AJ is starting to grow a beard.

(4) VKM vs. Christy's Team. Hemme came out, but as she was about to introduce her team, VKM's ring music started and out came VKM. Kip James cut a promo on Hemme. Kip said he doesn't know which team would work for a woman. Hemme calls both guys "pigs." Hemme introduces the Heart Breakers (Romeo and Antonio). Hemme tried for a low blow but Kip had a cup on. Kip took his cup out and put it into her face. Lance Hoyt comes out and takes Christy to the back. This match has no heat. The Heart Breakers missed their double team spot. You can hear a pin drop in the impact zone. VKM wins when BG James hit a pump handle slam at 9:03. After the match, Hoyt celebrated with VKM. Hemme returned and yelled at the Heart Breakers.

- Backstage, Cage (with Leticia) tried to talk to Abyss from the steel cage used on the last PPV. Cage attempted to warm up to Abyss. Cage gives Abyss a picture of himself. Cage encourages Abyss to do something for him. Cage tells Abyss that after he takes care of Sting, he can help him beat Samoa Joe. Cage and Abyss touched fists. Cage is happily surprised, and walks away.

- They aired a Lynn/Sabin highlight package.

(5) Best of Three Falls match for the X-division title: Chris Sabin vs. Jerry Lynn. Earl Hebner is the referee. There is something going on in the crowd, as many fans had their heads turned from the action. Even Hebner looked back to see what was going on. Lynn wins the first fall with a Tornado DDT at 5:50. Sabin won the second fall with his feet on the ropes. Sabin hit the cradle shock, but Lynn kicked out. Lynn blocked a Sabin attempt for his cradle piledriver. Sabin won the second fall to retain the title. A masked man came into the ring after the match, and hits the Angel's Wings on Sabin and strikes Lynn with the title belt. Its Christopher Daniels, now sporting a beard.

- In his office, Jim Cornette said he will have an announcement regarding Lockdown on Impact. Christy Hemme storms in and said she isn't going to quit.

(6) Elevation X: AJ Styles vs. Rhino. AJ came out and put on gloves. Styles and Rhino started the match on the arena floor, brawling. AJ climbs to the top of elevation X first. Gingerly, Rhino also climed up the platform. AJ came over and spit into Rhino's face. Both have already nearly fallen off the X. AJ does a baseball slide into Rhino, who is holding on from one side of the X. Styles hid inside the X, who was briefly out of Rhino's vision. Fans tried to point out where AJ was, and Rhino finally figured it out. AJ stopped Rhino win a rake to the eyes. AJ tried to push Rhino off the side, but Rhino held on. Rhino blocked a Styles clash attempt, and started punching AJ. AJ tried to throw powder into Rhino's eyes, but Rhino blocked it. AJ ended up with the powder in his face. Rhino tried a gore. AJ was left holding on the side, but Rhino finally knocked him off at 12:32 to win the match.

In the course of a brawl, Steiner is starting to bleed from the forehead. Angle hits three straight German suplexes. Ankle lock by Angle, but Steiner countered. Steiner recliner by Steiner, but Angle broke the hold. Steiner hit a modified Olympic slam, and again went for the Steiner recliner. Angle broke the hold and hit an Olympic slam, and slapped on the ankle lock again. Steiner broke the hold, but favored his ankle. Angle blocked a belly to belly attempt into a sunset flip, which allowed Angle to score the pinfall at 11:44.

- Backstage, JB interviewed Samoa Joe. Joe said tonight, he is born again. Joe said tonight he achives he destiny. Joe screamed that he won't be denied, and become the NWA world heavyweight champion.

- Abyss/Sting video highlight package.

(8) Last Rites match: Abyss vs. Sting. The two started off brawling on the outside. They have funeral like candles set up in each ring corner. Abyss smashed one of those candles sets into Stings face, which cut him open. Abyss called for the death bed (casket) to come down, which hangs over the ring. Fans chanted "FIRE RUSSO." Amen. Abyss places Sting into the casket, and tried to shut the lid, but Sting fought his way out the casket. Sting is a crimeson mask. Sting put Abyss into the scorpion death drop, and Abyss tapped out. Sting put Abyss into the casket and closed the lid at 9:37 to win the match. After the match, the casket is raised to the ceiling.

- Joe/Cage highlight package aired.

- Backstage, Christian is having a bad night, being interviewed by Leticia. No Steiner, Tomko, or Abyss. The Great Muta comes in and spits the green mist onto a locker.

(9) NWA World Heavyweight title match: Christian Cage vs. Samoa Joe. Joe had a truly Samoan ring entrance with dancers and fire twirlers. In case you missed the New Japan results, Giant Bernard & Travis Tomko beat Manabu Nakanishi & Takao Omori to capture the IWGP Tag Team titles, thus the reason Tomko isn't present tonight. Fans starting chanting "lets go Christian, lets to JOE." Joe suplexed Cage on the arena mat. Joe tossed Cage into the crowd, as the two fought up the stairs in front of the fans. Joe gave Christian a big boot into a wall. The two returned to the ring. I guess the referee isn't counting anyone out tonight. Cage blocked a muscle buster attempt into an inverted DDT, but Joe kicked out at two. Cage came off the second rope, but Joe met him with a big boot. After a few near falls, fans chanted "this is awesome." STF by Joe in the middle of the ring. Cage got to the bottom rope by using the referee. Unprettier by Cage, but Joe kicked out. Fans chanted "Joe, Joe." Joe backsplashed Cage. Joe shoulderblocked Cage from the ropes onto the floor. Cage walked away, but Lethal, Williams, and other babyfaces forces Cage back into the ring. Joe had Cage pinned, but the referee was out of position. Referee bump. Cage hit Joe with a chair, but the referee is down. Muscle buster by Joe. Cage kicked out at two. Low blow by Cage, but Joe kicked Cage in the head. Cage pinned Joe with his feet on the ropes at 17:43 to retain the NWA world heavyweight title.

These are LIVE SPOILERS from TNA’s Spike TV tapings on the road to the Lockdown PPV to be held in St. Louis, Missouri. TNA Management representative Jim Cornette promises a major announcement about Lockdown and the future of TNA during hour one as the Six Sides of Steel was waiting for us as we walked into the Impact Zone. Before we entered the Impact Zone, Bill Banks and Brother Runt were walking through the lines outside interviewing fans and taking photos with children. For people who like her, we were denied a $o Cal Val appearance on Impact hour number one. No backstage interviews were shown during the first hour however Kahagas blessed us with his presence. The same cannot be said for Ricky Romeo who injured his knee in the LAX/3D brawl last night.

Hour one results:

Jim Cornette opened the show inside the Six Sides of Steel to announce the main event for Lockdown, a 10 man match in Lethal Lockdown rules. He brought out the team captains: NWA World Heavyweight champion “the Instant Classic” Christian Cage and Kurt Angle. Cornette said they would be able to choose their 4 men between now and the PPV. Cage tried to protest Cornette’s ruling but the TNA theme music played drowning him out.

“The Phenomenal” AJ Styles came into the Impact Zone. He had a brace on his neck and left ankle and used a crutch to get down to the ring. He asked the fans and Rhino was the way he looked what he wanted. He said doctors told him his body would never be the same. Styles claimed he wouldn’t have wished this result for Rhino. When Styles told the fans he was unable to wrestle tonight the fans chanted “Thank You Rhino.” Styles wanted Rhino to come to the ring and call Styles’ wife telling him what happened. Styles’ wish was answered and “the War Machine” Rhino came to the ring. Rhino said what made Styles think he hadn’t already called or did he want to be knocked out on more time. Styles said he understood Rhino was trying to help him and he wanted the war to be over. Rhino asked the fans what they wanted and of course the blood thirsty fans said they wanted more. Styles said he understood the fight between Rhino and Christian Cage. Rhino said it was over and shook hands with Styles. Styles went to deck the crutch but Rhino caught it. Too bad he didn’t catch Styles’ boot that kicked Rhino’s crotch into the cage. Styles attacked Rhino but Rhino fought back sending Styles into the cage face first. Just when Rhino got control, Christian Cage hit the ring and then Rhino with a crutch to the neck. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe hit the ring and Styles hit the bricks. Cage knew what was going to happen so he scaled the fencing and got out.

The TNA crew took the cage down in what had to be record time and Jeremy Borash came out with Kevin Nash and his new friend Sonjay Dutt. Nash said Dutt was six weeks of the gas; take that for what you will. It looked like we were going to get “Macho Man” Jay Lethal. Nash and Borash said they would donate $1,000 dollars each to Coaches vs Cancer if Lethal came out. Lethal refused to come out to the ring and his friends. Nash said he produced a song for him to come to the ring with. Lethal finally came out and seemed confused by the new music which seemed “Macho Man” inspired.

(1) In a three way match, Jay Lethal defeated Jerry Lynn and Kaz of Serotonin (Frankie “the Future” Kazarian)

Kaz jumped Lethal but Lynn rolled him up for two. Just when it looked like Lethal and Lynn were going to work together Lynn got decked by Lethal. Both men took turns trying to beat up Kaz and Lynn got two after a suplex like move. Kaz rolled Lynn up for two but Lethal tried to attack so Kaz hit him with a Northern Lights suplex as he had Lynn pinned. Lethal missed an enziguri and Lynn rolled him up for two. With Lynn down Lethal hit Kaz with a move and got the pin. Sorry I am not sure the name of the move. I am sure that after the match “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels charged the ring and laid all three men out with a baseball bat.

(2) Alex Shelley and NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan & Machete) defeated Team 3D (Brothers Ray, Devon and Runt w/ Johnny Rodz).

Being from Detroit, Shelley embraced his thug style and dressed accordingly. Konnan joined Mike Tenay and Don West on commentary during this match. Shelley was going to begin against Devon but smartly tagged in Hernandez. But Devon was ready to fight and hit a Thesz press to throw some right hand punches. Ray tagged but ducked too early for an attempted backdrop and Hernandez kicked him in the shoulder. LAX went to work on a wrapped up left elbow and Ray could only scream in pain. Homicide got too close and was hit with a sidewalk slam. That allowed Runt to tag in and fair well but the fighting went to the floor where Shelley hit Runt with a DVD onto the ring apron. Homicide hit Runt with a chair and then sent him back him back to the ring where Hernandez hit the choke into a throw that sent Runt clear across the ring. All three men hit top rope splashes on Runt but Devon broke up the pin attempt. An LAX double team move backfired and Runt tagged out to Devon who cleared the ring of LAX members. All hell broke out once more and 3D hit Shelley with the Wassup package shot. With LAX out on the floor 3D called for the tables as Machete distracted the referee. 3D hit Shelley with the 3D but Rudy Charles was too busy with Machete and Rodz. As Devon called for the referee to get in the ring, Hernandez slid in from behind and rolled up Devon for the pin. Konnan said LAX had beaten 3D in every match TNA put them in next they were going to take 3D’s legacy. TNA officials had to come out to assist Shelley to the locker room after taking the 3D through the table.

NWA World Heavyweight champion “the Instant Classic” Christian Cage and “the Phenomenal” AJ Styles made their way into the Impact Zone. Cage introduced the third member of his team, Abyss. This was weird since Styles and Cage were Abyss’ opponents at the previous two Lockdown PPV’s. I guess Sting felt the same way as he came down to the ringside area. Sting said Abyss was his own team and Abyss was tired of being led around. Sting said the future was there for Abyss’ taking. Cage and Sting began a power struggle over Abyss when Jim Cornette came out. Cornette said next week Styles and Cage would face Sting and Abyss. Sting said why wait let’s do it right now and charged the ring but Styles and Cage bailed.

Hour two results:

(1) “War Machine” Rhino, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle defeated Serotonin members Kaz, Havok and Martyr (Frankie “the Future” Kazarian, “Hotshot” Johnny Devine and “Maverick” Matt Bentley.)

Martyr lost blonde coloring in his hair but kept the face paint. Martyr began against Rhino and didn’t fair well. Angle tagged in and so did Kaz who got hit with a German suplex. Joe tagged in and Kaz tagged in Havok who got hit with a powerslam and several right hand punches. All three members of Serotonin got in to fight but it was Martyr who fell to the Muscle Buster.

Team 3D made their way to the ring carrying some luggage. They wasted no time in asking LAX to come to the ring and their request was granted. Ray was wearing a shirt in tribute to Road Warrior Hawk AKA Mike Hegstrand. Ray admitted LAX had their number in recent matches and played as dirty as 3D would have ten years ago. Ray talked about LAX wanting 3D’s legacy which isn’t taken its earned. 3D was going to give them a chance to earn the legacy. In the luggage were the WWE World Tag Team titles, the WCW World Tag team titles and the ECW World Tag Team titles. At Lockdown 3D said they were all in legacy vs. tag team titles. Before 3D left the ring Konnan was rolled out by Machete. Konnan used crutches to enter the ring and face 3D. Konnan said the titles in the ring meant nothing and called his team the TNA Tag Team champions. Konnan wanted an electrified cage match for Lockdown; I think 3D accepted the offer.

(2) The Austin Starr defeated “Showtime” Eric Young.

The fans were behind Young even as Starr attacked at the bell. Starr hit Young with a corner whip and a dropkick to the face followed by dropping young on the top rope for a back rake. Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks made their way out to watch as Starr missed his elbow drop. Young got on fire as he tossed Starr from one side of the ring to the other. As Brooks got Andrew Thomas’ attention Roode hit Young in the back and set up Starr who won with the brainbuster. After the bell Petey Williams came and got in the face of his former Team Canada partner. Young and Williams were going to shake hands when Roode pulled Young to the floor and then the locker room.

(3) Jerry Lynn and “Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm (w/ “the Pride of Tennessee” Jacqueline Moore) was ruled a no contest.

Storm and Moore came out for the match but Lynn didn’t come out when his music played. A referee came out and said Jerry Lynn was apparently injured. Storm got the mic saying his two favorite things were drinking beer and beating people up. He was out of beer so he wanted someone to fight him and his request was answered by “Wildcat” Chris Harris. But Gail Kim came out and stopped Harris from getting in the ring. Moore taunted Kim who jumped in and fought Moore as Harris chased Storm to the locker room.

(4) NWA World Heavyweight champion “the Instant Classic” Christian Cage and “the Phenomenal” AJ Styles defeated Abyss and Sting.

Dave Penzer called this the “Hell Freezes Over” match and I am sure we all agreed with that sentiment. The team of Sting and Abyss never really got on track as Styles and Cage kept Sting isolated from his partner for several minutes. Cage missed a top rope headbutt and this allowed Sting the time needed to tag Abyss as Styles also tagged in. Abyss was in full control of the match as he hit Styles with Shock Treatment but Cage stopped the pin. Styles saved Cage from Shock Treatment but they missed the blind tag and Sting hit a top rope bodyblock on both men. Father James Mitchell came down to ringside with a woman who I am guessing is the mother of Abyss. This left Abyss confused and he ended up following Mitchell and Mom down the rampway. Styles and Cage kept double teaming Sting but all it did was get sting fired up as he hit both men with the Stinger Splash. Sting locked Styles in the Scorpion Death Lock but Cage got the referee’s attention and “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner came out. Steiner leveled Sting with his trusty pipe and placed Styles on top of Sting for the pinfall.

Xplosion matches taped:

(1) “Macho Man” Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt defeated World X Division champion “the Future” Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley when Lethal hit Shelley wit ha top rope elbow drop like you know who used to do.

(2) The Austin Starr and Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) defeated Senshi and Lance Hoyt when Ms. Brooks got the referee’s attention and Starr hit Hoyt in his package as he was getting ready to hit Roode with a chokeslam. Roode hit Hoyt with a DDT to win.

TNA will be taping Impact will be taping three episodes on March 26th before heading on the road.

Matches announced for TNA Lockdown PPV:

***In a Lethal Lockdown match, NWA World Heavyweight champion “the Instant Classic” Christian Cage, “the Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner and ?? vs. Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, War Machine” Rhino and ??

*** In an electrified cage match, NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan & Machete) vs. Team 3D (Ray and Devon)

Even West isn't pissing me off. But, "larnyx"?

Okay, I thought that ending was going to be much worse than it was. For the way Russo has been booking the last 2 months, I think that was TNA's best match. Now, if we could have a nice clean win for one of them those two could put on a match of the year.

sources: www.f4wonline.com, PWInsider.com

- It's being said that everyone under 30 hates life backstage at TNA, and everyone over 30 (mostly the guys making big money) are fine. People were complaining that the promos they were asked to cut made absolutely no sense, and there is a feeling that the writing is dated because it's being written by old guys who have no idea what's cool in 2007. People were also rolling their eyes at the introduction of Abyss's mom character at this week's Impact tapings.

- People were also rolling their eyes Sunday when Vince Russo refused to tell - anyone early in the day who the mystery team was going to be for Christy Hemme. Well, anyone besides the creative team. Hemme's tag team turned out to be former WWE tag team The Heart Throbs.

- Tokyo Sports is reporting that Kurt Angle is expected to work with All Japan Pro Wrestling in the near future. The news comes after Great Muta’s meeting with TNA in Florida before the Destination X PPV. This effectively means the end of the New Japan-TNA relationship and the beginning of the All Japan-TNA relationship.

The Great Muta was seen at the Destination X PPV, but his main purpose for being in Orlando, FL on Sunday was to establish a working relationship between his All Japan Pro Wrestling promotion, and TNA.

Muta (the president of All Japan) and AJPW Director Masayuki Uchida worked out an agreement with TNA's Dixie Carter, Jeff Jarrett, and Andy Carter to exchange talent. This will likely end TNA's working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Kurt Angle wrestled for NJPW on 2/18 in Tokyo, Japan. In the past, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi and legend Jushin Liger of New Japan have wrestled in TNA. The NJPW-TNA relationship appeared to be in danger following the recent resignation of Simon Inoki from New Japan. Muta not only met up with Angle, but the two posed for photographs. No word yet on which talent might be exchanged.

Please....fire Russo.

I can understand that they give Russo too much to pump out each week for a 1 hour show. However it can't just be a coincidence that I was enjoying TNA, Russo comes in and after just 2 or so weeks I'm noticing a drastic decrease in quality. Heck even if I hadn't been told that, I would have noticed something was off when TNA started rehashing old WWF storylines, like the Abyss = Kane deal. I really wish they would fire Russo, and just somehow get Heyman, and just keep Heyman to limited on air screen time. Heyman is very capable, but he's not the greatest on air personality.

The show last night was...ridiculous.

There was so much wrong, and it's way too early to even list all of it. I liked the interaction between AJ and Christian though. It was fun.

Usually I can't stand AJ's mic work. But when he's interacting with Christian it works. It brings out a side of AJ you don't usually see, it works well.

Daniels... is he going it challenge Sting to a black spraypainted plastic baseball match? Because I want to be out of the country when that happens?

Still bored with 3D, but at least LAX is entertaining.

LAX were out of this world awesome last night as well. Shelley working with them was great. Konnan provides perhaps the most realistic heel mic work right now.

I know it's cliche at this point to have a token white guy in the group, but Shelly seems to fit in with the group from what I saw last night. I wouldn't mind seeing Shelly work with them more often.

About the only thing worth watching that isn't Cage.

- The Bashams are still penciled in to feud with VKM. They weren't used at Destination X because they wanted VKM to beat a few teams before they arrived.

- Kurt Angle has been booked to work an independent show on 4/22 in Bristol, CT for Northeast Wrestling.

- Before the double bull rope match at Destination X, Jim Cornette laid out all the moves for Gail Kim and Jackie Moore.

- The general feeling is that backstage interviewer Leticia Cline has no talent.

Only an idiot books Jarrett and Abyss as faces.........oh wait Russo's booking...k carry on.......The booking of "Team Angle" in this scenario defies logic. Abyss is concretely a face now? When did the turn happen? After Sting put him in a coffin? That means he's a face? And now suddenly Joe and Angle are buddies? And since when do the faces in TNA (some of which defied Jarrett at last years Lethal Lockdown) suddenly accept Jarrett, who was "the most hated man in wrestling"? And after all of the heel turns that have gone on, Jarrett and Christian and AJ can just reverse their roles? Continuity isn't Russo's strong point, obviously.

TNA stories, scuttlebutt and rumors:

Your News: During the Samoa Joe/Tyson Tomko match, Scott Steiner hit a legitimate punch to Joe's temple that knocked Joe silly. There was talk of taking him to a hospital as he was showing the signs of having a concussion but as he was involved in so many more elements of the tapings they kept him around. Losing to Tomko and getting beaten up so many times on TV recently is punishment as the booking team are very unhappy with Joe's remarks in ROH about 'hurting his knee tripping over some bad booking' in TNA. Some are so angry that they don't want him to get the title at all.

My Views: All right, we have multiple issues here. First of all, if he was slightly concussed via a Steiner punch, take the guy to the hospital or have EMT's give you some clearance that he is good to go. I understand that he was a big part of the tapings, but safety-first kids. The getting beaten up on TV thing is and always has been a tool for booking and punishment. That will never change, although it can be VERY counter productive. Now onto the fact that they seem to be pissed about the Joe booking comment. This is my opinion there. No disrespect intended to ROH, but why the **** would TNA care about a comment made in front of 400 people that never made the DVD? It is stupid ass **** like this that constantly hurts TNA, cutting off the nose to spite the face, robbing Peter to pay Paul; use whatever analogy you wish, but that is what they are doing. If the guys that are pushing for him to not get the title get their way, well then they have once again proven whey they will never compete with WWE. Remove head from ass people.

Your News: David Sahadi, Jim Cornette, Mike Tenay, Don West, Vince Russo and others have all taken to sitting around the Monday after PPV's and reading the Internet Reviews of the shows. Basically at the end of the readings they get REAL MAD and it ends with everyone agreeing that all these reports come from people on the "WWE PAYROLL."

As for the fans rebelling with chanting during the shows, they have decided that these are nothing but "Smarks" trying to get themselves over.

My Views: This is a glorious news bite. So last year, when TNA was putting on a great run of PPV's I was being called biased and on the TNA Payroll. Now as are porter I am dissatisfied with the product and am on Vince's Payroll. You know, for a guy on multi-million dollar payroll, why the **** am I working three jobs? But seriously I was TNA's best friend last year; thank you letters, some DVD's and such. Now I am a WWE employee, all because of VINNIE RU~! Yeah, everyone that hates the product right now is on the WWE roll, just like those guys that have emailed me that WERE fans and are now not because of this booking run of his. As for the fans chanting, this partially true. They are trying to get themselves over, but the chant came at the perfect time and was during a part that showed what that PPV was all about. Forcing one of the most talented rosters around to fight an uphill battle to even make it to mediocrity due to GIMMICK-PALOOZA~!

Your News: TNA officials did have meetings with Keiji Mutoh over the weekend, but there are currently no talent trading plans or future appearances from Mutoh or any other All Japan stars scheduled at this time.

My Views: That sucks. I so wanted Muta to appear from the deathbed, mist Sting and cost him the loss. I would have marked the hell out for that and I think they would have had a fun match. Oh well, TNA is too ****ed up right now anyway and really need to focus on their own talent and issues.

Your News: Kurt Angle, Sting, Christian Cage, Abyss, Rhino, Jeff Jarrett, Team 3D, Rhino, Samoa Joe, Scott Steiner, Tomko, Eric Young, Robert Roode, Kevin Nash, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Raven, Serotonin, Petey Williams, James Storm, Chris Harris, LAX, Voodoo Kin Mafia, Lance Hoyt, Jerry Lynn, Chris Sabin, Don West, Mike Tenay, James Mitchell, Ron Killings, Senshi, Jay Lethal, Austin Starr, Alex Shelley, Christy Hemme, Gail Kim, Jackie Moore, Tracy Brooks, So Cal Val, Jeremy Borash, and Sonjay Dutt are all scheduled to sign on 4.14.07 at the Lockdown Fan Interaction in St. Louis. Tickets for the event are $40, and autographs are free with your admission. Polaroid's and 8x10's are available for an additional fee.

My Views: Now for as much of a problem as I am having with the booking of the promotion, this is one thing that they do right. I know a few people that have attended the fan fests, and they have nothing but good things to say about that. Sure WWE has the WM Fan Access and all, but TNA for a lot of their shows make their WHOLE roster available for the fans, and that is awesome. If you are in St. Louis, get a ticket for this. You'll have a great time I promise.

Your News: Devon of Team 3D is in the process of opening a Smoothie Store called "3D's PowerBlendz" in Melbourne, Florida.

My Views: All right, everyone say it with me.

DEVON…GET THE SMOOTHIES~!

Angle vows that he will fight...

Former 411 writer and current CBS Sportsline writer Sam Caplan has an interview with Kurt Angle up. Some highlights are below.

On his neck: "I have a great doctor, Dr. Jho in Pittsburgh. He's the one who saved my career. The reason why I'll get passed for fights is that I never had fusion. I had minimally invasive surgery. All they do is cut out the problem; in other words, if a disk gets jammed and it's blocking the nerves to my arms and I can't raise my arms because my nerves are blocked, he'll go in and he'll clip out just a couple millimeters so that nerve is open again and the passageway to my arm is fine, and I'm able to utilize my arm again."

On people thinking he is using MMA for attention: "I would never say something that I wasn't going to do. Whoever's criticizing me must not know me. I won an Olympic gold medal with a broken neck and I'm 100 percent healthy now. I think it will be hell of a lot easier for me to fight a fight with my neck healthy than with a broken neck."

On when he will start training: "I'm not going to start training until I sign," Angle said. "I don't have to fight. I could retire in the next few years. I'm fine financially. Although, I do want a big paycheck when I fight because I'm putting myself at risk, I'm putting my career at risk and also, I don't think anyone in mixed martial arts has seen anyone like me, especially being an Olympic gold medalist in wrestling. I'm just going to look around, I'm going to look for just not the highest deal, but what's what I feel is the best opportunity for me. I don't want just a one-fight deal. I want to be involved in the company for years to come. I want to fight continuously as long as I can and still be involved with the company afterward."

On the story that he took down Brock Lesnar: "You know, I took (former NCAA Division I wrestling champion turned WWE wrestler) Brock Lesnar right out of college, who's a national champ, and I was out of wrestling for I think six or seven years, and I beat the crap out of him," Angle said. "I thought 'Wow, I've been out of wrestling for a while now' and god, this guy weighs 310, and I only weighed about 228 at the time. I know I still have it. I just need to get back training."

Angle goes on to talk about Dana White not wanting him to wrestle and fight, having recent talks with IFL and EliteXC, Dana White recently contacting TNA to try and work a deal out that would get him to fight, and more. The full interview is available here.

What a shock, Ray's a douche bag.

Source: The Wrestling Observer Newsletter

Brother Ray has been campaigning backstage for Team 3D to win the tag titles. With the number of losses to LAX, it appears as though that is the plan. However, Brother Ray may also talk his way out of getting the tag titles as he is becoming very annoying. Jarrett and Mantel are getting irksome with Ray for his constant complaints regarding his current storyline.

On a side note, TNAWrestlingNews.com is reporting that Brother Ray isn’t the most popular wrestler backstage. Devon and Brother Runt, however, are popular with other wrestlers.

According to reports, Jeff Jarrett was said to be strongly against offering Sting a new contract at the rumored $500,000 per year rate. TNA President Dixie Carter rejected Jarrett's plea and Carter reportedly delivered the contract for Sting to sign.

In some more Jeff Jarrett related news, he has been overheard telling X Division wrestlers backstage that he wants their matches to move as quickly as possible. Jarrett even went as far as to tell them that he wants their matches to resemble "video games" with plenty of action and stunts.

TNAWrestlingNews.com is reporting that Jarrett is still believed to be on bad terms with is father Jerry Jarrett, who was originally part of TNA since its inception in 2002.

**SPOILERS** TNA iMPACT! Tapings (3 Weeks)

Thanks to Alan Wojcik for these results:

Welcome to three hours of LIVE SPOILERS from TNA Wrestling in Orlando, FL. By the end of this three show taping we should have a good idea of the Lockdown PPV matches heading to St. Louis on April 15th. Josh Rich, Mike WG, FL Indy wrestler Kahagas, Sean Waltman and legendary Japanese referee and New Japan official Tiger Hattori were in attendance. Despite being a three show taping things moved pretty well as Dave Penzer and Jeremy Borash kept things busy with raffles and talking about the show. No backstage footage was shown so you have to tune in to find out what was filmed including some sort of sit down between Father James Mitchell and Sting.

Hour one results:

During the entire first hour Bob Backlund worked out by Mike Tenay and Don West’s location doing stairs on a block placed in front of him. I think all of us were tired for him as he did it during commercials and the cage teardown.

(1) In a preview of the Lockdown Xscape match, Jerry Lynn defeated Alex Shelley, Sonjay Dutt, the Austin Starr, Petey Williams and Shark Boy.
Why write about it, because there was too much going on. So here’s how the order of elimination went:
**Alex Shelley was eliminated by Shark Boy via pinfall.
**Sonjay Dutt eliminated by Jerry Lynn and the Cradle Piledriver.
** Shark Boy was eliminated by the Austin Starr and the Brainbuster.
** the Austin Starr was eliminated by Petey Williams and the Canadian Destroyer.
Lynn won the match by hitting the floor first but he got leveled by “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels and a baseball bat.

NWA World Heavyweight champion “the Instant Classic” Christian Cage, “the Phenomenal” AJ Styles and “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner made their way to the ring. They were booed as Cage officially made Steiner the third man for his Lethal Lockdown team. Steiner reminded Cage about the title shot he deserved. He also brought out Abyss as the fourth member of Team Cage. Father James Mitchell was with Abyss but not Mom. Styles asked Cage who the fifth member of the team was; Cage said it was going to be a surprise for later. Cage introduced Tomko as the final member of the Team but Tomko didn’t come to the ring when his music played. Finally Tomko came out carrying a house mic. Cage went to hug Tomko but he was stopped in his tracks as Tomko said he didn’t play second fiddle to anyone and wanted his promised title shot. Tomko said before he joins any team he wanted his title shot TONIGHT. Before Cage could finish his next sentence Kurt Angle, Rhino and Samoa Joe came out to the rampway. Angle said to Tomko that Cage has been a lying ******* about his title shot. Angle said he would promise a shot at Cage if he joined Team Angle. Tomko said he didn’t know who to trust and that brought Jim Cornette to the ringside area. Cornette said there would be match to determine what team Tomko would be part of at Lockdown. Cage tried to talk his way out of it but Tomko said Cornette had a deal.

Mike Tenay and Don West talked to the home fans.

(2) “Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm (w/“the Pride of Tennessee” Jacqueline Moore) defeated “Showtime” Eric Young.
Young came out minus the Robert Roode Inc. clan for this encounter and faired well with dropkicks. That ended when Storm backed him to a corner and laid in some punches. The assault continued as Storm used the ropes to blind Young and hit a running boot to the face from the floor onto the ring apron. Young recovered with a discus clothesline and a belly to belly suplex for two. Young blocked the superkick and hit a back suplex but Moore stopped a top rope move and sent Young falling into the ring and right into Storm’s superkick. As soon as the bell rang “Wildcat” Chris Harris and Gail Kim hit the ring fighting their way to the locker room. Roode and Ms. Brooks came out and lambasted Young for the loss telling Young he had no real friends. Petey Williams proved that wrong when he hit the ring to attack Roode.

Tenay and West talked to the home crowd once more before out main event.

(3) In a match to win Tomko’s services at Lockdown, Team Angle’s Kurt Angle defeated Team Cage’s Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell).
Tomko sat at ringside during this interesting matchup. Angle got a single leg takedown and went after the left knee of Abyss. Abyss tried to get away but Angle clipped him only to be leveled by Abyss. Angle quickly recovered and got the Ankle Lock but Abyss got to the ropes as Christisn Cage came out to give a pep talk. Angle chased Cage around the ring but forgot Abyss’ location and got a boot right in his face. Abyss slammed Angle’s face into both sets of ringsteps before entering the ring once again where he hit a Davey Boy Smith style suplex. Angle escaped a neckvise and traded forearm shots with Abyss before hitting a German suplex. Abyss escaped the Olympic Slam and went for Shock Treatment but Angle countered into an Ankle Lock but Abyss refused to submit even as Earl Hebner had Angle shoved into him. Abyss hit the Black Hole Slam as Rudy Charles slid in for a two count. Abyss wasted time before his attempted chokeslam and it cost him the match as Angle won with a rolling pin. Tomko walked into the ring and decked Angle with the contract. Rhino came out to fight along with AJ Styles and then Samoa Joe. Scott Steiner came from the side of the broadcast table. In the end Team Cage stood tall over the three members of Team Angle.

Hour two results:

In the ring was stuff you would find out on a road construction site for an 8 Mile Street Fight.

(1) In an 8 Mile Street Fight, “War Machine” Rhino defeated Tomko.
This match began in the backstage area with tons of weapons lining the walls of the Impact Zone. They fought from one side of the building to the other and into the fans who avoided the action as best they could. After the fight in the fans the action came back to ringside where Tomko slammed Rhino’s head into the ringsteps. Rhino recovered and went under the ring for a garbage can, chairs, a table and a traffic cone. The fight finally entered the ring where Tomko hit Rhino with a trash can lid and a large traffic barrel. Rhino returned fire with a chair shot to Tomko’s back and a traffic cone to the head. Rhino grabbed a trash can but Tomko kicked into Rhino’s face. Tomko cleared the ring of the DOT items and went back to work on Rhino’s back with a trash can. Rhino grabbed the table and set it up in a corner but Tomko fought even as Rhino got a waistlock and drove Tomko into the table. Abyss came out and went to hit Rhino with a chair but missed and decked Tomko who got hit with a GORE!! After the bell Abyss got back in the ring but Kurt Angle came out with Samoa Joe to beat down Abyss. Christian Cage, Scott Steiner and AJ Styles came out to once again have the 5 on 3 advantage. To sum things up “the War Machine” won the battle but not the war.

During the break Rudy Charles handed off a book to speed read as the climbing continued.

(2) In a non-title match, Voodoo Kin Mafia (Kip and BG James w/Lance Hoyt) defeated NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan & Machete) via DQ.
Before the VKM got to the ring Christy Hemme had words with them but was once again was carried off by Hoyt. The LAX fans chanted D-X rejects as Hernandez beat down BG. Homicide tagged in and hit a top rope elbow for two. LAX kept making tags wearing out BG as Kip could only watch. BG finally got a boot into Hernandez’s face and tagged out to Kip who took on the LAX by himself. VKM got rid of Homicide and went for the One and Only but other LAX members hit the ring causing a DQ. Team 3D came out to even the sides and accepted the Lockdown electrified cage match. Ray said after Lockdown 3D would have the belts and LAX would be back in Tijuana selling their mom’s for cab fare.

(3) In a submission match, the Austin Starr defeated Senshi.
This was interesting as Backlund stopped reading to watch the match and both men had to remember not to go for a pin. Things left the ring as Starr hit a between the ropes dive into Senshi’s chest. The action came back as Starr went for the Chicken Wing but couldn’t get it locked; instead he hit his rolling elbow drop. Starr locked in what looked like chinlock with a leglace. Starr escaped a Dragon Sleeper but his superplex was blocked but Senshi missed Warrior’s Way. Starr locked in a half crab and while Senshi refused to submit Backlund left his steps and like Arnold Skaaland in December 1983, threw in the towel for Senshi.

TNA management’s Jim Cornette called a full locker room town meeting in the Impact Zone. It seemed this was a clarification of the Lockdown PPV which is listed at the completion of this report. Cornette actually accused Cage of pulling a Max Bialystock. He declared that whoever wins the pinfall in the Lethal Lockdown match gets the shot at the NWA World Heavyweight title at Sacrifice on May 13th. As the meeting ended the lights went out and came up to find Sting in the ring attacking Team Cage.

Hour three results:

Team Angle came out into the ring to talk. They were sporting Lockdown events shirts (probably available at www.tnawrestling.com ) Sting said he was sorry he didn’t return Kurt Angle’s phone calls and he truly loved TNA Wrestling. Sting wanted Angle to reveal the final member but he refused. Samoa Joe said he was losing faith in Angle about who the fifth person was. Angle said by the end of the hour we would all know who number five is (hopefully not Johnny 5 of Short Circuit fame.)

Between this and the opening match Borash brought out Kevin Nash who said he had a surprise, he was wearing a cup. He was actually out to introduce his protégé “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal.

(1) In a non-title match, “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal (w/his hair out of the braids and was in full “Macho Man” regalia) defeated World X Division champion “the Future” Chris Sabin.
Sabin was not impressed by the new look of Lethal. As Sabin laid in some offense Lethal fired back with a rope hot shot and a top rope double ax handle. A second trip up top was stopped by Sabin with a dropkick to the chest for a two count. Sabin got Lethal on the mat and hit a Garvin Stomp like move with a senton for two. Lethal escaped a chinlock but Sabin grabbed the hair and backed Lethal to a corner. Lethal fired back with right hand punches and a short arm elbow before a clothesline for two. Not to be out done Sabin hit a tornado DDT for two. Sabin got in a move but Lethal hit a chain of moves before hitting the top rope elbow and pinning Sabin.

Mike Tenay and Don West ran down the full Lockdown card for the home crowd.

(2) Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks) and “Pride of Tennessee” Jacqueline Moore defeated Petey Williams and Gail Kim.
Kim didn’t wait for the bell as she attacked Moore on the ring apron while Roode and Williams fought on the floor. Roode got rid of Williams for a moment and hit Kim with a back suplex. Williams returned to the ring to attack Roode with all he had as Kim rolled to the floor to recover. Referee Andrew Thomas looked like he was trying to get Kim to head to the locker room but she charged the ring and Moore. Williams was going for the Canadian Destroyer when James Storm hit the ring to distract Williams. It worked as Williams was rolled up for the pin by Roode. Chris Harris came out to attack Moore and Storm. Eric young came out with a chair which sent Storm and Moore running for the hills. Just when it looked like Roode was next he grabbed the house mic and ordered Young to put the chair down.

The NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan on crutches) came out to the ring dragging Brother Runt who had his mouth taped up. By mistake Konnan used the WWE name for 3D as he said LAX was looking for them tonight. They decided to make an example of Brother Runt for all the things the US government has done to Latin people. He decided to use a taser gun on Runt to show what the electrified cage was going to do to a human body. But before that happened Team 3D came out and asked LAX to let Runt go. LAX decided to shoot first and ask questions later, sending many volts into Runt’s body. The TNA medical trainer had to come out and remove the taser tips out of Runt’s body before moving him to the back for what might be additional treatment.

(3) Team Angle’s Samoa Joe defeated Team Cage’s “Phenomenal” AJ Styles
By winning this Team Angle has the numbers advantage until the Lethal Lockdown cage is lowered on top. Styles new cockiness was on full display during this match even as Joe attacked the legs of the former Triple Crown winner. Just when it looked like Styles was going to hit a dropkick Joe sidestepped and Styles hit canvas. Styles went for a suplex but couldn’t get Joe up; instead Joe hit a face front suplex. Styles fought back and knocked Joe down with a flying forearm to the jaw. Somehow Styles was able to slam Joe and hit a knee drop for two. Styles kept the offense going with shoulder blocks in a corner as Joe fought out but Styles hit a dropkick to Joe’s left knee. Styles followed with a flying forearm into a corner but Joe fought back with punches and elbows and his standing STO in a corner. Joe hit Styles with a series of forearm smashes and a powerslam for two. Styles avoided a corner move and hit a floatover inverted DDT for two. Joe went for a second rope kick but Styles pulled Andrew Thomas in front and it knocked him down. Joe hit a running knee to the corner but Styles escaped the Muscle Buster into a rollup but Joe locked in the Kokina Clutch. The other team members fought around ringside as JEFF JARRETT came out and leveled Styles with a guitar shot heard around the Impact Zone. All the members of Team Angle shook Jarrett’s except for Joe who took some time and Sting who took even longer to trust Jarrett after their storied history. Hell as truly frozen over as the Impact Zone fans cheered Jarrett who has been public enemy number one with the fans since June of 2004 when Impact debuted on Fox Sports Net.

Matches filmed for syndicated TNA Xplosion:

(1) World X Division champion “the Future” Chris Sabin defeated Sonjay Dutt

(2) Lance Hoyt defeated Alex Shelley.

(3) Serotonin members Havok and Martyr (AKA “Hotshot” Johnny Devine, “Maverick” Matt Bentley w/Kaz AKA Frankie “the future Kazarian) defeated The Naturals (Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas).

Matches announced for TNA Lockdown PPV:
***In a Lethal Lockdown match where whoever wins the pinfall faces the NWA World Heavyweight champion on 5/13, NWA World Heavyweight champion “the Instant Classic” Christian Cage, “the Phenomenal” AJ Styles, “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner, Abyss (w/Father James Mitchell) and Tomko vs. Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, War Machine” Rhino, Sting and “King of the Mountain” Jeff Jarrett.
*** In an electrified cage match, NWA World Tag Team champions Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide and Hotstuff Hernandez w/Konnan & Machete) vs. Team 3D (Ray and Devon)
***Senshi vs. the Austin Starr with Bob Backlund as the referee

http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/52116/Kurt-Angle-Speaks-On-His-Neck,-MMA,-Brock-Lesnar,-More.htm

How many times can Angle refer to himself as an Olympic Gold Medalist in one interview?

In some more Jeff Jarrett related news, he has been overheard telling X Division wrestlers backstage that he wants their matches to move as quickly as possible. Jarrett even went as far as to tell them that he wants their matches to resemble "video games" with plenty of action and stunts.

Dammit dammit dammit. Jarrett wants the X Division to be Wrestling Society X.

Source(s): The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNAWrestlingNews.com

At last Monday's Impact tapings they filmed some stuff on Sonjay Dutt getting a makeover which should be airing next week. At first, Nash tries to transform Sonjay into Oz, Nash's old gimmick in WCW. Nash even gave him his old costume, but the joke is that the costume is made for a 6-10, 300 pound plus man, so it's too big for Sonjay. They then scratch that gimmick off the list. He ends up going with a "Scarface" gimmick, so basically he'll be doing some Razor Ramon mannerisms.

Jay Lethal added more to his "Macho Man" gimmick at last Monday's iMPACT! tapings. His new name is "Black Machismo". He also wore a Macho Man-style robe and his new finisher is the elbow off the top rope. He also had his hair straightened.

Much of Eric Young's character as far as insecurity aspects are concerned is based on the real-life Chris Park, the man behind Abyss.

Hey, I've been watching TNA recently (which is more than I can say for my time away from the Hype....3 weeks!?!)...

I still enjoy it as background fodder when I'm working out or stretching and stuff so it services my life well enough.

All I have to say is, "Go Sting!" He is still awesome at 46, or however old he is! As well, Christain is a modern-marvel on the mic. BETTER than he was at WWE. I'm proud to see him growing at his craft.

I will still probably NEVER buy a TNA PPV, but for now, it's good fun.

NWA pulled it's belt out of there when their contract w/TNA expired. They've put it into rotation at some lower-level promotion in Houston or something. Like most celebrity divorces, the split was "amicable". So now TNA is using GIANT Gold TNA belts, which is kind of shaken things up a bit. *shrugs*

Good rating indeed for Impact.

This past Thursday’s edition of TNA iMPACT did a 1.1 rating with a 1.8 share leading into this Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view. This will more-than-likely be one of the best watched episodes in TNA history.

what do you think of james mitchel bringing his son or so he claims to fight abyss? It seems like every time TNA hypes a "mystery" wrestler, it turns out to be no one noteworthy. Who was the mystery man who helped Christian? Tomko. Who were Christy Hemme's secret tag teams? The Heart Throbs, Serotonin (TNA wastes their talent so much), and the Bashams. So I'm not going to get my hopes up about Mitchell's mystery man being anyone important. But then again, I'm not a big fan of Abyss anyway, so I'm never as interested in his feuds.

The beginning was too long, but Angle's promo was funny. And the main event for Victory Road sounds stupid. Can anyone see either of the Dudleys as World Champion?

The tag match was OK for what it was. Rhino going insane was hilarious.

Jarrett's video for his wife was very nice. I might not like the guy as a wrestler, but I do feel bad for him.

Harris/Raven was alright, but Raven is kind of slow these days.

I hate that they built Jay Lethal up for months and then had him lose the X-Division title right after winning it, but Lethal/Sabin/Joe was a good match.

All in all, it was a decent show. The main event was one of their better ones recently.

Last night's long match was good but it had too much interference. Especially in the end.

Next week's main event is Team 3D vs. LAX vs AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels for the tag titles. I predict that Styles and Daniels will win it, so the Victory Road main event won't seem so one-sided.

Some big TNA news...

- Negotiations between the Fox network and TNA are still going on. They plan on bring in a secondary television show.

- Yesterday TNA sent out a test message over its mobile service touting last week’s record television rating for iMPACT. The message also mentioned that TNA is closer then ever to expanding to a two hour show on Spike TV.

http://www.sescoops.com/tna/Update_On_New_TNA_Show_iMPACT_Expanding_More.shtml

Coming off of last Sunday’s Slammiversary pay-per-view, Thursday’s edition of TNA iMPACT did a 1.21 cable rating. According to a source at SpikeTV they reached a total of 1.5 million viewers setting a new series record.

http://www.sescoops.com/tna/TNA_iMPACT_Sets_New_Ratings_Record.shtml

 thought it was a 1.1? Was the 1.1 a estimate and the new 1.2 rating is the final rating for that show?

Wonder what this past week's show drew?

A 2 hour show is what TNA needs most atm. They have so many wrestlers (according to rumors) demanding to be on air. A few like Killings threatened to walk if they weren't on air more, and then later did because they didn't like where their individual story was going.

With a 2 hour show TNA can afford to give more of the locker room face time without having to make it 4-5 5min matches an episode.

All they have to work on after that is getting rid of Russo and going back to what they were like before he joined up and improve from there :woot:.

TNA did a 1.2/1.9 this past Thursday.

http://www.sescoops.com/tna/iMPACT_Rating_Ties_Last_Week_s_Record_High.shtml

Good news for TNA this week. After last week's edition of iMPACT! scored a record high 1.2 Neilson rating, this week's show matched that number with a 1.2 and a 1.9 share.
This week's TNA iMAPCT! featured only 1 40 minute match - hopefully a sign to TNA bookers that its not necessary to feature 5 rushed 3-minute matches per show.

As bad as I feel for Jeff losing his wife, this is more than likely a sympathy reign for him. Reports indicate that he's throwing himself more into wrestling in order to deal with the passing of his wife. :csad: :csad:

Agreed. Giving him the belt just because he's grieving is the wrong choice. The better option is for TNA to set him aside and tell him he needs time off, take a vacation, and come back with his head in the game. Giving him the belt out of pity isn't going to do anything for Jeff but make him burn himself out faster. This is one of those moments where Jeff's gonna do something stupid, or injure himself by fully tossing himself into wrestling none stop.

Impact Spoilers for the next two weeks.

Hour one notes:

Mike Tenay and Don West spoke to the home fans probably about the three team match with the winner advancing to the PPV.

(1) World Tag Team champions Team 3D (Ray & Devon) defeated Latin American Xchange (“Notorious 187” Homicide & Hotstuff Hernandez) and “Phenomenal” AJ Styles/ “Fallen Angel” Christopher Daniels.

Yes it looks like Styles/Daniels reunited for this match, even though I seem to remember them saying they would never do it again. This was traditional tag as opposed to three men in the same time. The challengers attacked the champions at the bell but things went the other way as it became every team for themselves as 3D were sent to the floor and LAX got control of the match. Styles saved Daniels from the Border Toss but Homicide was not able to save Hernandez from a double team move. Ray missed a fat boy senton to Homicide but Homicide’s top rope move backfired as Ray got to his feet. Homicide recovered and took Ray to the mat with a chinlock. Some point during this match it looked like some ring boards broke from the impact of several 300 pounders. Hernandez tagged in to deliver more punishment as Styles/Daniels broke up any pin attempt. This went on for several minutes and probably through a commercial break. Daniels made a blind tag into the match and went to work on Ray. Somehow Ray got his ring awareness, hit Daniels with the Bubba Bomb and tagged out to Devon who took on 4 men at one time. All kinds of craziness ensued as 3D hit Homicide with the Wassup. Daniels went to the corner but got picked up by Ray as 3D hit the Road Warrior clothesline for two. Styles countered out of the Cop Killa and hit the Pele kick, followed by a frog splash/moonsault but got two. Hernandez hit Styles with the Border Toss but Devon pulled the referee to the floor. Hernandez and Ray hit top rope planchas onto the wrestlers below. Daniels fought off Devon’s power bomb and hit an STO but his attempted Angel’s Wings was blocked and he fell to the 3D.

Before the second match TNA Management’s Jim Cornette joined Tenay and West for commentary. Before anything else happened “Instant Classic” Christian Cage, Tomko and a old school megaphone interrupted the proceedings. Cage told Cornette a laundry list of things about his career before running down “Wildcat” Chris Harris’ track record. Cornette got a real microphone and told him who exactly Chris Harris is, the guy who is using Cage’s head to shatter the glass ceiling in TNA. Cornette also mentioned Abyss was still hunting for Cage and Tomko. Cage said he wasn’t afraid of Abyss, so of course Abyss’ ring music played which made Cage/Tomko run for the nearest exit sign.

(2) In a TNA Knockouts match, Gail Kim defeated Ms. Brooks and “the Pride of Tennessee” Jacqueline Moore.

There was enough hatred between these ladies to fill Madison Square Garden. Moore and Brooks fought over who was going to beat up Kim, so they beat each other up as Kim recovered. Brooks kneed Kim in the back and sent her to the floor but Kim grabbed Brooks’ legs and she came outside. Moore went to baseball slide both ladies but only got Brooks. Kim used this opening to hit both ladies with a top rope plancha. The action came back to the ring but Kim got hit with a double team move. Both ladies laid in the kicks to the head and chest as Kim tired to fight them off when they both grabbed a leg for a half Boston Crab. But Moore and Brooks began trading slaps to the face. Both let go of the hold and went up top but Kim stopped Brooks and hit a huricurana. Moore went to pin Kim but Brooks hit a clothesline. Kim recovered and hit both ladies with headlock/head scissor takeover. Brooks went to pin Kim but Kim countered and Brooks ended up on the floor. Moore snuck up from behind to roll up Kim but Kim used her momentum to roll through and get the pin. This immediately led to Brook and Moore jumping Kim. Eric Young came out to save his new friend but Robert Roode came out to jump Young.

TNA/IWGP Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle made his way into the Impact Zone dressed like a millionaire. Angle told the fans the Victory Road main event would be partnered up in an eight man match next week. He pronounced tonight “Kurt Angle Night” and called the promotion “Total Nonstop Angle.” Next he verbally ripped his Victory Road partner, his opponents and proclaimed he brought SexyBack when Team 3D interrupted his soliloquy. Ray said if Angle brought SexyBack then he was the next centerfold for Playgirl magazine. 3D tried to convince everyone was working to make TNA the best promotion in the world. Insults were traded and Devon leveled Angle as Ray called for some lumber. To the shock of all Samoa Joe came out and attacked Team 3D but when Team 3D were gone, Angle hit Joe with the Olympic Slam into the folding table 3D set up.

Hour two notes:

(1) Abyss defeated Lance Hoyt (w/Christy Hemme)

These two are not strangers and Hemme could be the deciding element since Father James Mitchell was not with Abyss. Hoyt went for a move but ran right into Abyss’ boot and the action went to the floor where Abyss tossed Hoyt into the guard rails. Abyss tossed Hoyt back to the ring and got a folding chair, but Hoyt attacked when Abyss came back in. Abyss fought back and hit the corner butt splash. However Abyss’ second rope splash only hit the canvas. Hoyt took over with right hand punches to the face and hit a second rope legdrop for two. Hoyt went for but missed a moonsault as Abyss got to his feet and hit several clotheslines followed by a choke slam for two. Hemme got the referee’s attention as Abyss went to hit Hoyt with the chair. Hoyt blocked it and went up top but Abyss got the chair and threw it right into Hoyt’s face. Hoyt recovered and went for the boot to the face but when he began to run at Abyss, Abyss saw it and hit the Black Hole Slam. Abyss wasn’t done as he found a bag of broken pieces of glass and dumped them in the ring as VKM came out to fight Hoyt to the locker room. Hemme was all alone with Abyss when Tomko and AJ Styles hit the ring. The lights went down and up with Sting coming out to aid Abyss. Sting handed Abyss the baseball bat. Sting said he and Abyss would face Tomko and Styles on Sunday. To the shock of everyone Abyss spoke on the mic. He said Sunday would be Doomsday!!

As the broken glass was cleaned up Tenay and West spoke to the home viewers about the main event of the show.

(2) Serotonin members Kaz vs. Martyr and Havok.

According to Penzer, the winner is the final qualifier to an Ultimate X match at Victory Road. Early on this was a handicap match with Kaz fighting for his life for several minutes. But nothing Martyr and Havok did led to a pin or submission. Kaz dumped Havok to the floor as Martyr went for the superkick but Kaz saw it and heel tripped Martyr and rolled over into a pin. Kaz may have won the match but Raven came out and with the help of Havok & Martyr, used their kendo sticks to beat Kaz into submission.

Before the main event Tenay and West talked to the home viewers again, possibly running down the PPV lineup.

(3) TNA/IWGP Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle, World X Division champion Samoa Joe and World Tag Team champions Team 3D (Ray and Devon) defeated “Instant Classic” Christian Cage, “Phenomenal” AJ Styles, Tomko and Robert Roode (w/Ms. Brooks)

According to announcer Dave Penzer this is the first time in TNA history the three championships were on the same side in a match. The title holders came out separate and argued the whole match while their opponents came out as a group. Roode and Devon started out with some brawling but worked their way into wrestling as Devon took over. Roode tagged out to Cage who was reluctant to enter so Devon pulled him in the ring before tagging out to Ray who held Cage for eternity before hitting a suplex. Joe tagged in and unleashed several moves on Cage but got two for his effort. Cage finally tagged out to Tomko who traded forearm shots with Joe but couldn’t avoid an enziguri. Roode tagged back in and Joe went back to work before slapping Devon into the match. While Ray, Joe and Angle argued, Roode hit Devon with a spinebuster and the tide went to the other side of the ring. Roode, Styles, Cage and Tomko took turns beating down Devon but didn’t get the pin. He survived long enough to tag out to Joe as Tomko tagged out. Joe hit Styles with a powerslam and locked in an STF but Styles friends jumped in. Angle remained on the floor as the fighting went all over. Ray countered out of the Unprettier and Cage got hit with the Road Warrior clothesline and then 3D hit Roode with the 3D. Joe grabbed Styles and sent him into Cage who was climbing the top rope. Joe went for the Muscle buster but Angle came in, tripped up Joe and pinned Styles. As Angle split, Team 3D faced off with Samoa Joe in the ring.

Matches taped for TNA Xplosion/TNA Today:

(1) “Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm (w/“the Pride of Tennessee” Jacqueline Moore) defeated Senshi. Moore slid the beer bottle in and the referee picked it up. Senshi saw this and when he turned around he got hit with a Superkick.

(2) “Black Machismo” Jay Lethal defeated Petey Williams with the top rope elbow drop. Before the match “the Guru” Sonjay Dutt came out and blessed the ring, the fans, Williams and the announce booth.

Announced Victory Road matches:

TNA/IWGP Heavyweight champion Kurt Angle & World X Division champion Samoa Joe vs. World Tag Team champions Team 3D (Ray and Devon)

“The Instant Classic” Christian Cage vs. “Wildcat” Chris Harris

“Tennessee Cowboy” James Storm vs. “War Machine” Rhino

Sting & Abyss vs. “Phenomenal” AJ Styles and Tomko

In an Ultimate X match to name a new #1 contender Kaz vs. I have no idea because TNA’s site has no information.

Team 3D should not have won. Everyone knows they have no chance of winning at Victory Road. I'm not so sure about the rest of Victory Road either. Ultimate X and Cage/Harris should be good and Storm/Rhino should be decent, but I can see Sting & Abyss vs Styles & Tomko not going very well. From what I've read, Sting/Daniels didn't work well, and Styles is similar to Daniels. And Tomko just sucks. I hope this PPV turns out alright.

I saw the replay of the Thursday's Impact last night. I liked the tag title match a lot, but I don't get why it was shown first. In any case, it was fun to see Styles and Daniels team together again and I think LAX will be alright without Konnan. Hernandez's splash over the ropes was impressive. I like that there was no interference and a clean finish, although 3D is my least favorite of the three teams (I still like them though).

The women's match was pretty good too.

Does anyone have any idea who will be in Ultimate X match at Victory Road? I know Kazarian is in, and Saturday's Road to Victory Road special will have another qualifying match with Senshi, Jerry Lynn, and Petey Williams.

Why is Chris Harris facing Christian? Why does anyone ever face anyone in TNA? Never ask, because the answer probably won't make sense.

I think it will be a battle royal until there are two or three wrestlers left, and then it will be an Ultimate X match. Or something along those lines.

Doesn't change the fact that it will most likely be a cluster**** of awful.

I'm honestly surprised that their shows are that small of a draw? I mean, you'd figure wrestling fans (wwe or indie) would still appreciate the chance to come out and check the venue?? I wonder how much of that falls on TNA's inability to market themselves? I bet that's a big reason for petrid attendance.

There was a WWE vs TNA fight. It was at King Booker's tiny Texas promotion. Not too long ago, too.
