Yes it's back!!!! If any villain deserves a fan thread it's Doctor Octopus.

-The first villain to defeat and humiliate Spider-Man.
-The first villain to unmask Spider-Man.
-He formed the Sinister Six
-He was the Master Planner
-He was involved in the death of Captain Stacy
-He tried to marry into Peter's family for May's inheritance
-He's started gang wars with Hammerhead and the Owl
-He's used, abused and back stabbed the Sinister Six
-He's tried to blow up New York, rule the world, was in Secret Wars
-He saved Peter's life so he could be the one to kill him

There is no end to Doc Ock's fiendishness. So appreciate this tentacled mad man to the fullest. From the comics (both 616 and Ultimate),cartoons, and of course Alfred Molina's fantastic performance of him in SM-2.

Ah thank you Mr uk.Good to be back

Right I'll start things rolling.I recently got my hands on the Owl/Octopus war which is a 7 part Doc Ock arc from Spectacular Spider-Man in the 80's.Fantastic arc.Ock is so ruthless that he even scares Spider-Man.

Ock's plan is to destroy all of New York to simply prove he is the most dangerous man alive. And he's using an atomic device to do this. The Owl wants it too to hold the city to ransom. So as you can imagine this is how they go to war with eachother. And Spider-Man and Black Cat get caught in the middle.

Ock beats the Owl but Spider-Man and Black Cat stop him from detonating the bomb.Enraged at this Ock beats Black Cat to a bloody pulp.Spider-Man takes her to the hospital and watches over her as her life hangs in the balance.

Meanwhile Ock is out for blood. He makes his way to the hospital and threatens Spider-Man that he will kill him and Black Cat for ruining his scheme. He smashes Black Cat's life support machine as he leaves :D

Spider-Man really believes he's a dead man.In fact he throws a party in his apartment and invites all his friends like Harry,Betty etc because he believes it's the last time he'll see them because Ock will kill him tomorrow night.

The big showdown does not disappoint.Ock and Spidey tear strips off eachother. The battle rages from the hospital,to the street,to the highway as Ock chases Black Cat's ambulance which desperately tries to get her to safety, even Jean DeWolffe tries to stop Ock to no avail, and it climaxes in a train yard with Ock smashing down a speeding train that comes toward him.

This is one of Ock's finest arcs.He really scares Spider-Man and Kingpin, takes down the Owl,beats Black Cat to a bloody pulp and nearly destroys New York.

Gotta love him :D

It amazes me how anyone could think Doc Ock is not the best villain there is. He's brilliant and he's got no problem taking out anyone who gets in his ways. Rock ON little green and orange spandex-wearing man, rock on.

Welcome back, mighty Tentacled One, to thy Lair. Picking up and moving house happens, what can I say? But you know we gotta tease you about this anyways:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/octopus/jammies.jpg

[Although if you can't kick back in a fuzzy robe with a cute hood on it in your own Lair, where can ya?]

I never used to care much about Ock till I did a little research, only then did I begin to understand how cool this guy is. He has savoire-faire unmatched amongst the entire rogue's gallery; in fact I cant think of anyone off the top of my head that comes close to matching him for sheer class, Marvel OR DC.

Thank you O' divine symbiotic villainess.

You know SM-2 opened the flood gates to alot of new Ock fans.Silver S and Nick are two examples of that. The regular Spidey fans knew all about him but new people went and researched him and then they realised how exciting it will be to see him on screen. And Alfred Molina did not disappoint.

When it comes to class Ock is hard to match.Who else can build a weapon of doom while at the same time smoking a cigar or sipping a drink?? Or fend off a barrage of attacks from scorned super villains without breaking a sweat and smoking a cigarette??

It's the little things like that that endear Ock even more as a villain :)

One of my very favorite scenes in 2 was that little snippet we got of Ock seated in his lair, busily unpacking parts for his fusion thingy, building something on his work-table while elegantly lighting a cigar at the same time. That was so great - it was like a scene out of the books come to life.

Ock was really the only reason I bought that DVD. I just skip around to his scenes....

Its not that I don't like Peter/Spidey. I do, really. I just felt we saw nothing new with him this time out. We saw all that in 1, this time he was just more downtrodden. I enjoyed the Spidey scenes and I cared about what happened to him. Great web-swinging and all that. But I felt that as a separate character, Peter didn't endear himself much to me.

There were a lot of things with him that jolted my sensibilites and took me out of the moment. Ock never did that once. Neither did Norman.

Definitely

I also like Jonah Jameson's scenes too.But we all know the reason SM-2 is worth buying is because of Doc Ock.Be proud Alfred Molina.

That scene where he's building his reactor while multi tasking and lighting the cigar was pure Ock.Ripped straight from the comics.Loved it.A shame it only lasted about 30 seconds.

Peter and his whole power loss over MJ thing was a yawner. Now if Ock had bashed and ***** slapped him in their first encounter then I could understand him quitting being Spider-Man.Not because the ginger headed drama queen found yet another man.

I got nothin' to say just now, but I figure I should carve out a space for myself should some brilliant and Octavian come to mind.

No Ock and Carnage have never crossed paths in the regular comics. That was strictly a game story. An odd one too.Octavius and Kasady make an unusual combination.A partnership I could never see working in the comics.Kasady is too volatile for even Ock to control.

As for Hobby. The only time they've crossed paths is in the Sinister Six alliances.Really you don't want Ock as a partner. He's back stabber.Don't trust him for a single micro second ;)

One thing you should know about Ock is he always has to be in control.Always.Always pulling the strings.Which is why I can't see him ever teaming with Carnage. It just wouldn't work.

Ock has battled many Marvel heros over his criminal career. His evil deeds have attracted alot of attention.Let's see he's battled:

What the hell is this bulls**t that Venom and Sandman are going to be the villains? I don't believe a word of it. I'll put money down that Kirsten's being told to feed us this story and give Sam a good laugh. I'll wait for the official Sony announcement before I get my panties in a huge twist over these supposed villains.

Don't believe one thing that dipstick Dunst says. Not one thing.More air in her head than in a hot air balloon.

Do people really think they're going to follow up Molina as Ock with Gopher as Venom?? Please.

Topher Grace is about as menacing as home made cookies. You need to have presence on screen.A threatening air.Dafoe had it.Molina had it.I'd be intimidated if they threatened me.

If Gopher came up and tried to intimidate me I'd flick him away :p :D

I don't know why, but I think the Hulk is a stupid character. Maybe its that little patch of green fuzz atop his head that fuels my angst for the jolly green giant.

I just got the most random phone call EVER from my old boss wanting know what what that dangly bit of flesh under a turkey's beak is called. I answered "....a wattle?" hesitantly and he exclaimed 'YEAH! You've been a real help, thanks." End coversation.

No offense to Hulk fans, I just don't see the attraction there.

Ever notice Ock has schooled just about everyone in the Marvel U. at least once? He may not triumph in the end, but he never hesitates to dish out a world-class thrashing till then :) He's talking contracts while he does it - you just have to stand back and admire.

p.s. I'd have told the boss, "What on earth is "Ask Jeeves" for, if not this sort of thing?" Sheesh. Some people are sooooo helpless.

Ah no it's not that story. That's from the Incredible Hulk comics. The Sinister Six arc is in a Spider-Man title.

Hang on let me check *Flicks thru TPB*

It was published in a title simply called 'Spider-Man' in issues 18-23.And yep it is availible in TPB:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0785100474.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I loved this story.I love it when the Six band together.None of them trust eachother after Ock's betrayl back in 1990.And yet they still work so well together.I love the anamocity between them :)

The other one you want is this one where the aformentioned betrayl occurs:

Delilah is still hangin' around with Octavius; Carnage found solace in the arms of one of her sisters, Solange. Here's Solange:

http://pic3.picturetrail.com/VOL17/812957/1447401/96273746.jpg

Quite the little temptress.

I did promise Carny his very own little redhead, who was in fact delivered and promptly named Jezebel. However Jezebel and Carny just never hit it off for some reason; she was just too NICE. They avoided each other till I pulled out Spidey [who came as a package deal with Ock up there.] Jezebel and Spidey are now keeping company, much to the scorn of the rest of the crowd who regard them both as entirely too namby-pamby.

A third blonde has joined the crowd, a platinum-haired stunner named Panthea. Panthea's not dating anyone yet, although she is even hotter than her sisters. I guess I should see if her and GG hit it off..... :)

[yes, all doll owners are completely nuts.]

These girls are not for Carnage. He needs someone like Shriek.Someone with a dark side and a thirst for violence. You got any bad girl dolls Sym?? If so hook them up with Kasady and watch them hit it off.

Opposites don't always attract.

As for the new girl on the block Panthea. You might try her and Venom together.Brock is fond of female company too.Wasn't he once married??

GG is a loner.Norman has never had use for women unless he's tossing them off a bridge to mind f**k with Spidey.

Oh, but you have no idea! These girls are bad through and through - they live to commit evil acts! Do not let those innocent faces fool you! [except for Jeze.... every now and then a recessive gene kicks in, what can you do?....]

I'll have to get a new pic of the whole Wild Bunch soon, if I get 5 minutes where I'm not typing madly to finish a paper, or flashing cards at myself because a test is looming.

Your point about GG is a good one... maybe I should save Panthea for Venom. I don't have a Venom figure yet, can't find the new one.... if GG threw her off a shelf I would be really mad with him  She's been hinting about hooking up with BB Batman, we shall see what happens. She may be too evil for him. "I love a man in a mask," she says. Hey, don't we all sister.

Yep. I perfectly good figure was been ruined (once again) by a useless & unnecessary 'action feature'.

The sculpt looks fantastic so I'll probably pick this up just 'cos of that & try to work out some way of doing away with the crappy back pack thingy...

LOL!

I just had a thought. You could make a cliffhanger series out of these villains dating your dolls.

GG threw Panthea off the shelf.......how will Venom react to this??? Carnage has been hitting on Delilah again and Ock's caught him in the act........But it's revealed Ock had his wicked way with Solange the night before

LOL! Yep I'm crazy ;)

*Looks at Silver's many, many Ock pics* Ah floods of memories from our old thread have come flooding back. This place really feels like home again :) I loooooooove the dirty dirty man one where Silver confronts him over his actuator activities :D

Well he was beaten eventually as the villain always is.But he sure gave them an ass whoopin. Here's a few pics from the Hulk encounter:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/octopus/doc16.jpg

Feh!

The panel at the lower left is wrong. There's no way in hell Dr. Octopus could lift the Hulk like that. The Hulk weighs half a ton, and Ock has to keep at least one tentacle on the ground when he lifts something heavy with the others.

"No leverage" indeed...

Dr. Octopus isn't always shown bending the rules of physics in that particular manner. Very often with Ock in the comics, they get it right. In this case, they didn't. Hell, even the movie got it right most of the time.

And just what are you trying to imply here?

From the Making Of book, it would seem they were thinking of having Doc Ock wander into one of those soup kitchens for the homeless. That's what it says on the sign hanging over his head in the larger version of that picture, the one where he's walking away from us. They also originally wanted to have him ransack a department store front where he would steal the clothes off the racks but alas, we weren't treated to a movie of Ock running around sans his clothes for long.

I think the Hulk is one of those "guy things" you have to be male to understand. I don't get it either: a big green guy making giant hops around the desert, all "RAAAAAAGGHHHHHHH!" and smashing stuff  Why is this compelling?

No offense to Hulk fans, I just don't see the attraction there.

Ever notice Ock has schooled just about everyone in the Marvel U. at least once? He may not triumph in the end, but he never hesitates to dish out a world-class thrashing till then :) He's talking contracts while he does it - you just have to stand back and admire.

p.s. I'd have told the boss, "What on earth is "Ask Jeeves" for, if not this sort of thing?" Sheesh. Some people are sooooo helpless.I know this was a few pages back, and no offense, but I'm guessing you haven't read much of the Hulk? He's not just a monster who smashes stuff. There's much more to him, like the struggle between him and Bruce Banner, and he isn't a dumbass, just simple minded. He's like an angry child who wants to be left alone, one of Banner's inner demons the G Bomb triggered.Banner is petrified of hulk because he also reminds Bruce of his father.

Ok so I went to my comic store today to get the Ock magazine/mini statue for my Ock girls Jasmine and Silver S ;)

So I walk up to the counter with two of them and the guy smiles at me.I didn't think much of it and paid and left.I'm on my way to the bus stop and my mobile phone rings.

It's my mum and she says "You know that Doc Ock magazine thing you got yourself?? Can you get two for my friend's lads too??".My mum's best friend's sons, same age as me btw, wanted one each too.So I said like ok no problem.

So I went back to my comic store and walked up to the counter with another two.The guy behind the counter laughs and he says "Man you have got to be our biggest Doc Ock fan. That's the 5th one of these you've bought off us".

See I had bought myself one last week too.I laughed back and said "Well I probably am your biggest Ock fan but these four are not for me.Swear to god".

I don't think he believed me :o

But hey if Forbidden Planet want to know me as a die hard crazy Ock fan I'm cool with that :D

This reminds me of that film harold and kumar get the munchies where they go to freakshow's house and he has pics and ornaments of Jesus everywhere.

Ock, I feel sorry for you when you have to move house because taking all that stuff down and packing them all up and re-seting them up gain is going to be a nightmare. Btw if I had a room like yours I'd be happy all the time, its just so lively and animated and takes me back to when comics generally on the whle used to be consistantly good.

Thanks jide.I'm quite proud of my room myself.Everywhere I turn in it there's something Ock/Spidey related staring at me.But it wasn't always that tidy.Only in the last few months I've begun sorting it out and bagging and boarding my comics and putting them in comic storage boxes.I keep my TPB's on my book shelf.

As for moving house, well hopefully I won't be leaving the nest for a while yet ;) But yeah moving house is a nightmare anyways.Relocating all my Spidey stuff will indeed be a chore.

On another note, ock, how much do you roughly spend on comic-related stuff per month? coz you've inspired me to sort out my room into a comic shrine.

Well it depends. For example this month the Marvel magazine with the mini Ock statue has come out here in the UK.So I went and got that.

I don't buy any Spidey stuff for the hell of it.It has to be something I really want. Some Spidey fans buy all sorts like GG,Ock,Electro,Venom stuff etc.Which is cool. But me I'm pretty much Ock total. Not that I don't like the other villains. But when it comes to merchandise like figures, statues and busts.I'll only get Doc Ock ones.

So to answer your question it really does vary.On comics I'd spend between 60-70 euro.I only read Spider-Man and Batman. And between those two I don't read all their various titles.

On merchandise like I said it varies. If you see some new Ock merchandise come along I've bought it........assuming I can find it.I still can't find the ML8 Ock figure anywhere.I may have to go to ebay for one.

You ever wondered how Spider-Man would describe Doc Ock to the average Joe??? Well here it is.This is taken from the Troy Castro Sinister Six novels.

Here Spider-Man is trying to explain to a loser criminal called 'The Disc Jockey' that he poses no threat to him compared to the usual villains he goes up against.Spider-Man has described five of the six Sinister Six members:

"That's five. And as if all that wasn't bad enough,I have considerately saved the worst for last.Dr.Otto Octavius, who goes by the name Doctor Octopus. Here's a guy,I can't even begin to tell you what's dangerous about him.
Just to start with he's one of the ten most brilliant scientists on the planet-an expert in the electromagnetic spectrum, who knows more about the effects of radiation than anybody else alive.Combine this with the fact that he's also a totally murderous psychopathic terrorist, who only one year ago (just picking one example at random, you understand) tried to kill about a billion people with nuclear weapons planted in several dozen major cities worldwide.
Not a nice guy,and that's not the least of it,because I haven't even mentioned this special harness he wears that comes equipped with four flexible metal tentacles which move fast enough to deflect gun fire and are strong enough to swing subway trains like baseball bats.I'll note that the harness and the tentacles are made out of adamantium,an artificial alloy that once forged is indestructible enough to survive ground zero nuclear explosions without a scratch.Next to that, anything else you throw at it is just a bad joke.
Oh and the worst part of it is that he can mentally control these tentacles whether he's wearing the harness or not.In fact he's been known to command them from as far as 800 miles away".

Yup I'd say Ock is a badass :D

At first I thought I was seeing things. But then I saw it again. So I stopped and watched for ages. And there he was peeping out.

We've put a trap down.Usually gets them.*Shudders* I hate mice.

Ock, ever have any pets? Maybe a pet octopus you tried to have do tricks out of water until you realized he wasn't the great Doctor Octopus so you put him back in the water and tried to "Accidently" expose it to radioactive materials such as plutonium or tritium until it would "accidently" merge with you making YOU the true Doctor Octopus?

I've had ants before.Came down one morning and they were all over the table  Soon got rid of them with some very effective powder.

I have a dog.He's all I need ;)

Ock had a pet Octopus in one arc in the comics. Her name was Olga. He'd feed her crabs while working at his lab bench in his secret lair.

Merge with a radioactive Octopus??? LOL! Geez don't give Marvel any ideas. They probably read these forums and are crazy enough to try something like that ;)

So in any of the Spider-Man series, has Pete 'evolved' to have six arms? And if so, what the hell? I just remember hearing something to that effect a while back but never bothered to follow up on it.

Peter grew 4 extra arms in ASM#100.It was a mutation from the radioactive spider that bit him.

Last year in SSM he turned into a spider and had the ability to talk to insects  Thankfully that crapfest seems to be ignored now.

I've never gone to a Halloween party. Not interested.Gone to fancy dress parties alright but never a Halloween one.I rather stay home and watch horror movies ;)

Besides I have to be there with my dog.He is absolutely terrified of fireworks. The loud bangs etc.

£7.99 is a bargain dude. Fair play you found a good one there. Hope P&P didn't bump it up to much though.

& yes ML8 Doc Ock is far better than both the movie ones IMO. Both movie Ocks had good & bad points that the other did not. One had a very possible Otto with lots of POA but with crappy tentacles - the other had pretty limited POA but had great, very bendy/possible tentacles. ML8 Ock has both great POA & great tentacles IMO. Best of both worlds so to speak.

You have a sharp attention to detail worthy of Octavius himself http://www.webalice.it/felixpetruska/DocOck.gif

If you're into Spider-Man novels, something I NEVER thought I would be until I read Troy-Castro's Sinister Six novels, then pick up that and the Sinister Six ones.

You haven't got this thread??? I don't understand.Do you mean you don't post much because your knowledge of Ock isn't much???

Bah that doesn't mean anything. You don't have to have a P.H.D. in Ockology to post here ;) You can talk about anything Ock related. From the comics, cartoons and movies. As I said on the 1st post here.

Now look at this pic.It is,as Silver S would say,teh sex:

Well honestly now, who else could it possibly be that could give Spider-Man such an ass whooping that someone would write a book about it? Venom? Please.
