No one has started one yet, so I'll get the convo started since I want to talk about it anyway......

Clana sex: good thing or bad thing: Discuss.

:D

Personally, I think it's a good thing although I will watch my kids reactions to this very, very carefully when the show is on... and I'll be prepared to answer any questions.

Also, I'm looking forward to seeing what lessons Clark is going to take away from being powerless for an extended period of time. The illogic of Jor-El being able to take away of powers aside, I think it's a good storytelling device and presents Clark new obstacles to overcome.

I think it'll make for some exciting TV, but I guess we'll see.

Oh, I'm definitely looking forward to the Clana sex.

Here's my list of what I'm looking forward to in Mortal by order.

Clana sex
Clex fight
Clark and Chloe crawling through the vents talking about Pete and the spaceship.

I think it'll be interesting to see how Clark deals with this loss of powers and hopefully and surely he will come to realise what they mean.

I posted this

Actually this is a season 5 trailer about what we'll see in the coming weeks:

It also shows Clark punching Lex!

EDIT: Sorry if this has been posted.
in the Mortal Trailer thread I created but since a Mortal Discussion Thread now exists I thought I should post it here as well..

Any sex involving Clark is fine by me,lol.. and its about time he and Lana get to date properly and actually get to behave like a couple without all the angstyness..now they get to see what being together really means.

Clana sex.....ehh, we'll see. I'm looking forward to any Chloe and Clark stuff. I think I'm looking forward more to 5.03, or, at least, its ending, but after the premiere I am looking forward to the next episode....being this. I should check the spoilers again, I can't remember if there's any Brainiac-ness going on here.

I am looking forward to the Mortal Combat (between lex and clark) hehe

What I am NOT looking forward to see is the clana sex. To me (my opinion) is that it contradicts the moral values that Clark/Superman holds very dearly.

I look forward to any Chloe scenes, she is one of the best actors on the show, and one of the two hottest of the women (her and Lois).

All in all I can't wait to see it!

For me, SV is all about -
1) Clark becoming Superman
2) Clark and Lana loving each other (before it all goes FUBAR) :(
3) Lex and Clark going from best friends to mortal enemies.

So, yeah.. I'm sorta beside myself with excitement over this next ep.

Here's something I was wondering today. Do you think there's a chance that once Jor-El restores Clark's powers, he'll make make everything that happened during the ablility-free time go away? Possibly by memory wipes or reversing time? So.. no death of Clark, and no Clana sex.
Man.. I hope not. :(

I agree with the first part, it's part of what Smallville is about so I'm all for the Clana sex...

Let Clark have a real relationship with her before it goes all FUBAR!

As for your speculation, I don't think you need the spoiler tags since this thread is labeled as containing spoilers, but I don't think that will happen.

It would be a shame if the interactions he has while powers-free are all erased.

I guess it might be helpful after he gets his powers back at the end of the third episode, however...

mellyM
10-03-2005, 02:38 PM
hmm..I hope not, I mean what would be the point of erasing the sex? He and Lana are still going to be together after that episode. And maybe time doesn't move on earth while he's being healed? I don't know, I mean people do come back from flatlining sometimes...

You're right...I didn't notice the thread was already tagged for spoilers.

I don't necessarily think they will erase it all. That was just a thought that came to me while driving today. I truly hope they don't do that. It would be a little cheap.

I said that exact same thing in another thread and hoped and preyed that they wouldnt take that course of action. Clark might be able to wiggle his way out of his disappearance in his usual charming way, but what happens when Lana wants to you know what again. They said the only reason they were able to get him to do it initially was because he was Mortal. So it'll be interesting to see how they play it out.

I really hope that they don't take the it never happened course. I have faith in their writing ability, because I thought in blank they were going to erase chloe from knowing the secret, then they kept her knowing.

What irritates me when they do stuff like that, is that it makes all the forward momentum stop and reverse then we are back to square one. It makes a show pointless and monotonous. And Smallville is far from pointless and monotonous.

That would explain why Clark gets violent with Lex. Interesting that Clark still only sees it as putting Lana and his parents in danger. That "part of him that never feels fear" is in for a rude awakening now that he's mortal, which is probably all part of the larger plan compliments Jor-El.

Did he fly? They didn't show him flying?

He coulda just pulled really hard on the rebar he pullled up from the floor and launched himself toward the kryptonians...

Which, brings up a thought:

How can an ancient castle supposedly brought over from Scotland have rebar in the floor?

Why would they need to have concrete in the floor? Wouldn't an ancient Scottish castle have a stone floor?

I thought that was just a lie Lionel told about it being their ancesteral (I can't spell) because he didn't want to admit he was really from Suicide Slums?

And you can put any sort of floor in a castle you like I guess.its always looked like marble or something

Assuming the castle was dismantled and brought over means they would still have to pour a slab and columns to support what was taken. Usually when a building is dismantled that encompasses the facade and any structural support (i.e. timber).

Since this was a castle The foundations, slab on grade, structural concrete, and reinforcing would almost certainly need to be redone, as it would be impractical to remove them, and that they would most certainly be destroyed in the demo.

I loved the scene with Clark and Lana in the barn at the beginning. Very touching. And so much for a slow Lex transformation, in a matter of 10 or so episodes he's gone from 'not wanting ppl to get hurt' to threatening Chloe's life and putting people in danger. I know a lot of people want Lex all-evil right now but with the way they've developed him until recently I was hoping they would handle that last stretch of his turn to the dark side more slowly. The first stretch took 4 seasons and now in just a few episodes he's full evil. Oh well at least it's nice to see Clark and Lana together.

Clark sans powers showed a side of Clark that hadn't really been seen before.

PS: The acting was spot on, especially from the core trio. It just gets better with every episode. No complaints from this peanut gallery on that, or even the characterizations. The actors have so *become* their characters at this point, there's no such thing as suspension of disbelief anymore.

I rather enjoyed the episode. It wasnt on the level of Arrival but it took the handoff from last week and ran with it. Some complain about the powerless episodes, but out of 90 episodes so far there has only been one other episode where he has no powers for an entire show (Leech), and 2 others where he lost them for small parts of the show. (Asylum, Spell). I like them because they get to emphasize that Clark's powers arent what makes him a hero, and it also shows he's not some midless brute, that he can actually think through a crisis and deal with it.

I liked how they used the dialogue between Lex and Chloe to let us know, a few weeks had passed in "Smallville time" since last week's episode. I also liked the references to Alicia, Jason, and Pete. My biggest concern was how "teh s3x" was going to be handled, and I thought they did a nice job by leaving it up to the imagination, at least for this week.

The fight was my favorite part, and I thought they did a good job of emphasizing Lex's focus on Clark's bloody lip.. going back to last week where the kryptonians told Lex that "Kal-El would not bleed", you could see the look of disbelief since he seemed so sure about Clark earlier in the episode.

Well now there I go spoiling my outline for my review this week ;)

BTW is it just me or did Chloe get a boob job over the summer? Those puppies looked ready to pop out of her shirt

I do like his superpowered self better but I liked what Hulk said: that the power-free Clark episodes just underscore how truly he is a hero.

He was brave and fought the good fight despite the fact that he was without his powers!

I also rather liked the episode, not so much on a dramatic scale, but it showed Clark use his head in defeating his enemies. That is what Superman is about later in life, looking past just his fists. He may not be on Bruce Wayne's level, but Supes has to think to beat some of his enemies. And we all know that Clark didn't use his head so much last season, the writing has obviously gotten better, and that is good in my book.

I have also gone on about FOW in the show, I don't mind them if they serve a real purpose other than contrivances. The way Lex used them to prove his theory about Clark was just great, and I LOVED the reference to the WONDER TWINS (you would have to be a certain age to get that reference, or own the Superfriends dvds). These freaks were ok, because they furthered the overall plot.

They also handled, like some of you said, the Clana stuff tastefully, which is more than I can say for last season. Plus they also mentioned other characters long past, which was a good tribute to the past of Smallville.

Long story short, we are back to what makes Smallville a great show to watch, good characterization, plot, and writing make for good Smallville. Five Thumbs for me!     ;)

I thought tonight's episode was fantastic. It did what it was suppose to do, which was keep my interest until the very last credit. I agree that the actors are very comfortable in their skins now, and it really comes across on screen. I also think that the story lines are advancing at a nice pace:

Since the premiere episode, Lex is now convinced that aliens exist and that Clark is most certainly one of them. He also suspects that Clark is Kal-el, so he sets up this elaborate escape of insane Bellereve patients, knowing that Clark will use his abilities to save his parents and Lana. Unfortunately, Lex is unaware of the little known fact that Clark has been sapped of his powers. With Lex you can't really tell if he's willing to risk everything to expose Clark or did he put the Kents and Lana in danger confident that Clark would never let anything happen to them, and thus, in turn, Lex would not be putting them in direct danger either. I know, too much psycho analyzing.

Clark: I'm loving this man more and more. He's confident and self-assured. I can definitely see the Superman in training. I don't miss his powers at the moment because I know the loss of them are only temporary so I can enjoy the episodes for what they represent. Clark is learning how to navigate through his life without all the superpowers, and he is also able to enjoy the ummm - shall we say, finer things in life. Give the poor boy a break. I have NEVER understood why Superman has to be a 30 something virgin. He should have some experience under his belt by the time he meets Lois. That's all I gotta say. (On a side note, I think Tom Welling gets better and better with age, both in the looks and acting department.)

Chole: She's just so darn likeable. I also like that Chole seems to be Clark's inner-conscience. She knows that he was meant for better things, and she is not happy at all about his powers being gone. She even goes to the caves and seems very depressed about the change in her friend. Chole wants the old Clark back asap.

Lex: I'm enjoying his turn to the dark side more than I thought I would. I love the scene between him and Chloe in the caves. He knows she knows, and she knows that he suspects. Everyone is dancing around each other, but Clark pretty much puts the ball in the net by episodes end by decking Lex. Lex also saw blood, which means Clark can't be Kal-el because "Kal-el doesn't bleed." I can see those wheels spinning from here. I can't wait to see how Lex puts all the pieces together, and you know he will eventually.

Kents: Poor Jonathan and Martha - enough with the violence against them. Geez Louise. Between house insurance and medical insurance, they're going to be in the poor house for a very long time. Oh! I forgot car insurance! How many times have they replaced that pick-up?

Lana: She's much more enjoyable this season. I like her happy and supportive, and she can kick ass when she has to. She's no shrinking violet. I didn't mind the Clark/Lana scenes. I thought they were well done and sweet. I'm guessing they didn't go too heavy on the final lovemaking because of all the gripes from posters for last season's Unsafe (which I loved, by the way).

Freaks of the Week: Only part of the episode I didn't really care for, but they were necessary to advance the above storylines.

Well, my rating: 8/10 --- and I love the sheriff too. Bring on the next episode!

I agree, a lot of people seem to see a baddy with powers in an episode and automatically scream "FOTW" and then turn their noses up at it. But with tonight's episode, the writers really made an ingenius use of them that was two fold:

1.) Lex purposely frees them as a setup to test Clark, to see if his suspicions were correct. They werent just random freaks that were infatuated with Lana and took it a step to far. They were an extension of Lex, of him putting out a "feeler" on Clark.

2.) It shows that the show has, what a lot of people have complained it didnt have... CONSEQUENCES. It shows that with all of the freaks Clark has put away, there have been consequences to that. Most of them want revenge on him, and they've talked about what he's done with others there. Undoubtedly Lex has caught wind of this, and used these 3 to try and exploit Clark. It reminded me of how all the nuts in Arkham Asylum want a piece of Batman...

I have a feeling things will calm down a little between Clark and Lex in later episodes, as usual. Gough said that by season's end Clark and Lex would be enemies, why would he say by season's end when it appears from this episode that they're already enemies? I don't think they'll necessarily be friends again but they'll still be talking to one another.

As much as I don't like how they're handling Lex's turn, I'm also enjoying it on a certain level. That line he gives Chloe "being a third wheel must be very time consuming," was damn cold. But one question, how would he know that Lana and his parents would be there when the FOWs arrived? Maybe he didn't mean to put them in danger...

I think that was an unintentional consequence too. He has no beef with those three.

I don't necessarily think they will be enemies yet, but they are having Clark realize that Lex takes things too far. It is more of a loss of trust than enmity.
Clark is realizing that he and Lex can't be best friends anymore, but Superman is about redemption, and I don't see Clark 100% giving up on Lex yet. But he is pulling no puches for Lex anymore, I think he let Lex know that he will not stand for his foolishness any longer.

I knew Lex was involved since the "teaser" but didn't want to believe it. This was a great thing to use though. Lex is not truly "evil" yet, this was a test. But, Clark and Lex ever friends again? Hell no, I hate Lex now as well (which, surprisingly was always my favorite character). Lex is slowly, but surely turning into the character we love to hate. Which is great.

He only put his family in danger because Clark hides his secret from him. He wouldn't need to test him if that wasn't the case. Not to mention that the only person who would be in trouble if he told him his secret would be Clark, but if he trusted Lex like he should there wouldn't be such a problem.

Also did i mention how great the Wonder Twins where?

There are BETTER ways to find out someone's secret other then putting people who care about BOTH Clark & Lex (I don't think Mom & Dad Kent knows what Lex has been up to yet & they have grown on him) Lex willing to risk people's lives who REALLY cares about BOTH Clark & Lex = JUST STUPID. You don't see Lana doing all these crazy things just to find out Clark's secret. Lex is truly nut's especially putting people who care about him as well in Danger. Look how EASY it was for Alicia to show Chloe Clark's secret doing stuff like that knowing he will come is one thing.

I am still trying to figure out what was going threw his head at the end.

"He bleeds" or "What in the hell was that about?"

He almost looked shocked to see the blood yet I don't know. Same with him watching where he got burned by the laser in the lab. Almost in disbelief that he was wrong about Clark.

But we all know Lois got around before meeting Clark/Superman :o

Quite possibly, but i am not talking about her. I know it isn't all that important to some, but it bothered me. Which is weird because when the series started, i wanted Clark to get Lana so bad, but as the show has gone on i can't stand her, and quite frankly wished Clark would realize how terrible she is. I grew up with Lois and Clark being the couple, and Lana was just this "other" girl, that Clark had a little crush on in high school.

But again that is just me.

The problem is that Lex knows Clark is a superfreak. He just doesn't sense it, but he knows it. And that is why he was more then willing to put people in danger. He knows Clark could save them.

The problem comes though when Clark doesn't tell him what he should. Now this wouldn't be such a big deal for me if he didn't whin about Lex lying to him. Because quite frankly, Clark's little lie has put Lex and others he loved in far more danger then Lex has put anyone so far.

I thought the Episode was great . It had a few good onliners and the Fema joke cracked me up. Even the head villian wasn't too bad. Question, we he suppose to be Conduit from the Superman comics?

I thought Lex and Clark had a good brawl but at the end of it It was kinda sad considering Clark and Lex were like brothers. It looks like the writers are turning things around imo.

PS: The acting was spot on, especially from the core trio. It just gets better with every episode. No complaints from this peanut gallery on that, or even the characterizations. The actors have so *become* their characters at this point, there's no such thing as suspension of disbelief anymore.

Total step down in my opinion from last weeks very good episode. This felt to me like a Season 2 eppy. I just wasn't feeling this one like others in the past, I thought it was just a step back....and I'm not going to give it a free pass because 'It can't all be about Supes in training, there's 22 episodes, that's a lot!'. Let's face it, Clark is basically useless w/out his powers, and the writers did him NO favors by demonstrating...'With my Superpowers I could do it....ummmmm. Chloe, help?!?!?'. The mention of Pete and Chloe's instant remarks though were

The only part I felt that really caught my attention was the Lex/Clark scene. THAT was entertaining. The conflict, the drama, the reactions....really great stuff there. I am definately looking forward to more of that.

Here's to hoping next weeks episode realizes the standard left by 2 of the previous 3. (Season finale/opener)

ps Could we go a few episodes without hearing 'super'? :o

yeah that is what i want to know, who is the figure that walks out in FOS and meets clark.

As for the eps, I thought it was great. yes clark without powers sucks, but to me this eps goes to show why we love super so much. which is two thing

1) the guy has a sense of duty, powers or not
2) superman's powers are the coolest.

BEst scene today was definetely with lex, it swas a fgreat set up to further destroy the friendship. I am glad the clan scene were not chesey which i thought the would be, and the freaks of the week weree cool in my book. they didnt feel or come of annoying.

Lex as no right to his secret, period, no one does, and Clark has made it more than clear he's not going to tell him, so really if Lex is his friend, he should respect that and leave it alone.

Also, wanted to say how much I really really enjoyed this ep. Clark without his powers was portrayed so perfectly, and his first mission as a human was very daunting to him, until he adjusted and switched gears, and it was ultimately him that saved the day.

And I really think "super whining" was priceless, there were parts I laughed out loud..and I dont know how they did it, but I really liked Clark and Lana together...any sitatuation that makes Clark smile like that, and be that adorable is more than Ok by me. The sex was handled well, and I loved that he came to her for comfort first..just really well done.

And the smackdown, what can I say? Clark was enraged, and had every right to be, and good for him for goading Lex into hitting him to provide some peace from Lex. As far as Clark knows, this loss of power is forever.

Clark and Chloe together was wonderful, I feel like all the characters are finally aligned as they should be and playing their appropriate part in Clark's life now. I'm more excited than ever about this season now:)

I felt the same thing after it aired. I had to watch it again to understand my feelings. From the start, this episode had a different feel to me. I wasn't sure what exactly changed, but I felt awkward (almost) as I watched. Then it dawned on me that I was caught offguard tonight. Clark, as a human, was a new character. I feel we have just begun to see the makings of Clark's future alter ego. Tonight we saw a clumsy, bumbling, fumbling, stuttering, unsure young man who reminded me (to a degree) of Christopher Reeves' Clark Kent. I think we will see the dawning of realization for Clark that this experience is one he will need to draw on in the future.

I loved this one. The characters and dialouge were some of the best I've seen from the show. No giant plot holes, actually funny lines, continuity with past episodes. What isn't to like? The writing was tightened up everything the characters did made sense. Chloe is VERY smart and capable I'm glad they chose to show that. Also without his powers Clark is still a very large man and more than capable of taking care of himself which is better than the Leech where he was rather wimpy. The sex was tasteful and I thought it was hot, of course hot is subjective. I actually LIKE Lana this season.

It was definitely a change from the Clark we're used to, but in the end, he did use his wits, human brawn and Chloe's tools to save everyone, I thought it was nice he quoted her after he defused the FOTW.

It was risky on their part, but I'm glad they decided to take a realistic approach to Clark witout his abilities, and let us watch him find his way.

Last nights ep was great. Acting was good the story was compelling and we finally got to see Clark and Lana as a "functional' couple. The thing I admired most was that in the past two eps the writers have given a nod to things that happened in the Past and tied them in. Pete, Clarks ship, Alicia, Jason, and Shelby all got mentions, they didnt just fall off the face of the planet like they appeared to last season.

i wonder if kristin is crushin on tom, or vice versa. i know tom is married but i hear kristin is currently single?I'd say it's just good acting. Ever see Dirty Dancing? Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze HATED each other, despite their off-the-charts chemistry on screen.

...I just wasn't feeling this one like others in the past...
...the writers did him NO favors by demonstrating...'With my Superpowers I could do it....ummmmm. Chloe, help?!?!?'.Yeah, that did kinda bug me too. I suppose it could be argued that that's the point. Basically, Clark was forced to think outside of the box for a change. But lets face it, Clark/Superman IS a mostly physical guy, and the writers drove that point home by showing how Clark's problem solving boiled down to the business end of a well placed punch.

Could we go a few episodes without hearing 'super'?I don't understand the recent objections on this. It's a show *about* Superman. LOL

Did anyone else feel a bit sorry for Alicia in this episode? She was mentioned and Clark basically said he never loved her. It may be true but it made me feel sorry for her seeing as she's dead and all!I didn't feel sorry for Alicia, but I did feel a little slap in the face from the writers. Clark DID love her, maybe not the same way he does Lana, but if Alicia didn't die, he probably would still have been with her. Alicia was somebody he felt comfortable sharing his abilities with. She made him feel "normal and special at the same time." The first time we ever saw Clark cry was because of Alicia. And, if it wasn't for Lois, he would have killed the guy who killed Alicia. For Clark to say Lana is the only one he's ever loved - convenient now that Alicia's dead - just didn't sound right.

I only saw the episode once and will have to watch it again a few times, but regarding the growing rift between Clark and Lex, I didn't get the impression everything was a Lex set-up. Lex was at Belreeve visiting Lionel and discussing his father's treatment with Lionel's doctor. When Lex rounded the corner on the way out, did Lex give Lee a key to break out of his shackles when they bumped in the hallway, or did Lee use the collision as a diversion to break his own shackles? It didn't *seem* (on one viewing) that Lex *intentionally* was helping Lee and the Wonder Twins escape. Later in the episode, when the guards at LuthorCorp were conveniently nowhere to be found once Chloe and Clark broke in, not to mention the fact that Lex was watching the break-in on a closed circuit monitor, THEN it was obvious that he might have been testing Clark. But I kinda don't think it started that way. Lex just got lucky and took advantage of the situation.

I gotta watch the episode again tonight 'cause I know I musta missed a lot.

I knew as soon as Lex bumped into the guy and the lights went green that he had something to do with it, it was just too suspicious and a simple bump shouldnt unlock shackles like that if they are designed aswell as you would expect them to be.

"Mortal" wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.(Still didn't like any of the Clana parts.) But the rest was all good.

Chloe was SUPER hot . man I couldn't take my eyes off of her. Also she really cares about Clark's Future (unlike BDA Clark.) It seem's she will be the one push Clark forward towards his DESTINY.

Lex is becoming worst than his father.(He must have thought Clark was Kal-EL, so he set's up the test.) I wish {Motral Clark }could have wipped him some more for all The Hell he put him thought.

Lionel in Belle Reeve was sweet, it was Shattered all over again. (JG, did a wonderful preformance.)

Jonathan still is a kick ass Father. (I love Pa kent, trying to save his family)

Martha (Hey I thought she had a broken Leg??) didn't have alot of screen time, but still was good.

The FOTW's were great for the story. Tommy's power thought already being done by another FOTW, was still cool. The Wonder twins were freaky .

Even thought Lois wasn't in the episode , I like the fact she was mentioned.

Adams was Super in this episode, I also love her new hair style.

Three past characters mention (Jason), (Alicia) & (Pete). Bravo producers.

Motral Clark (I like that he used his brain to save the day, but I missed Kal-EL.) I'm glad he's back next week.

I felt that way too when I saw it. But the more I think about it Lex could've had something to do with it because that guys powers came from electricity didnt they? I mean to defeat him Clark had to smash a power panel to remove his source. So i guess it could be argued that Lex slipped him something or the guy used lex to charge somehow intentionally or otherwise.

Martha (Hey I thought she had a broken Leg??) didn't have alot of screen time, but still was good.

Well, she was limping when she and Jonathan arrived at the farm looking for Clark. And according to Lex, it's been weeks since the events of "Arrival" transpired (proving my point that a week in the "real world" does not equate to a "week" in the Smallville-verse!)

Speaking of time, I liked that this episode was occuring in the summer since Arrival was the day after graduation. I was worried that in this episode, everybody would be getting ready for college, and I'd be like "So Clark's been human for three months?!" Fortunately, that wasn't the case!

I watched this episode last night with the usual cant wait to see this enthusiasm that I watch a Smallville episode, and then I watched it again straight away, (my family kept interrupting during the first viewing asking too many questions) and after my second viewing I put it down as one of my all time favourites. It wasw a much slower pace than Arrival but that's good as then we get to see some real character development, which there was plenty of. Everything clicked and everything made sense.

I'm quoting Lara's post as her summation equals mine.

I wonder if they will start Hidden panning down from the stars. We havent seen that scene with the two of them in bed yet. :D

I'm more than positive Lex set the whole thing up, right from the moment he bumped into the guy at Belle Reeve. And remember he saw Clark and Lana walking off together to get the nails. Just goes to show that Lex will be ruthless to get what he wants.

Hee, I know he had to get to Chloe's somehow, but kind of out of the way to go back and get his truck. Off screen maybe he didn't want anyone to think Chloes was involved so he went back to her house to get his truck, but then how did Chloe get there? Hmmmm........? Maybe someone else has already mentioned this but did anyone else notice how Chloe and Clark went to Luthor Corp in Chloes car, yet Clark arrived back at the Kent farm in the family truck. Where did he get the truck from??

He probably drove the truck to Chloe, I doubt he'd have her meet him at the farm, and endanger her any

I watched it three times last night, but I knew as soon as I saw him bump into Lee that he had something to do with it... why else would the director slow down into slo mo for it...

And the look that Lex gave Lee, even without speaking, I knew something was up... He had the whole planned.

It wasn't luck.

I think she knew and it was implied, that's why she said ever heard of a handshake.

Clark drove to Chloe's, he then went with Chloe in her car (she had the bag of tricks in the back remember and can probably plug her computer into the car's outlet) they then both went back to Chloe's to get Clark's truck. From Scare we know that Chloe lives near Luthorcorp. So Clark didnt waste much time going back to her house to get his truck.

If he is entitled to Lex's secrets, why wouldn't it be the another way around as well?

Very true. My point is that Clark cries about it all the time. Anytime Lex doesn't tell him anything and everything he is suddenly being a terrible friend. Yet Clark doesn't tell him anything and it is ok.

Also hasn't Clark's secret pretty much put everyone in danger directly?

How so? Because there are meteor freaks? Everyone knowing Clark is and alien would change nothing--Clark isn't the threat. And what do you think Lex would do with the truth if he got it? Hug Clark and thank him? I honestly don't think so, its called self-preservation.

Funny he seemed like a pretty big threat when he wanted to control the earth.... or when ever he touches the read stuff....

Also i think it has more to do with the fact that all this stuff that happens around Clark directly effects those around him. People are getting tossed around a hospital because of people looking for him. Don't you think that if Lex, Lana, and others knew what he could do, they would realize to stay out of the way a little more?

As to what Lex would do. Now i am not so sure, but if Clark was a little more forward a few years back, he wouldn't have taken all that much advantage of it.

Oh i have no problem with him keeping his secrets, it is what i expect. But i my problem comes from Clark whinning 24/7 that Lex doesn't tell him everything, when he does the same thing.

Heck even last night when he seemed a little ticked off about Chloe's trunk. But i guess that is what being a teenager is.

As to being friends, Lex hasn't really done to much wrong. Sure he investgated Clark, but this is the guy that breaks into his house when he sees fit. The guy that disappears into thin air all the time. The guy who is always there when something bad goes down.

If anything Lex is Chloe, with a bigger budget, yet he doesn't seem to hate her.

Chloe told Clark that everyone has secrets and he left it at that.

I think Clark's biggest problem with Lex is that he is obsessed and has been since Season1. Clark understands that Lex knows there are things about him, but he's asked him for the sake of their friendship to let it go. Which he hasnt.

I'm not so sure Lex knew Lana and his parents would be there. He especially wouldn't want Lana in danger since he likes her and everything. The interesting thing about Clark and Lex's relationship is that Clark's trespasses according to Lex are what ultimately drive him to be evil. Remember last season how Lex said Clark's friendship keeps his dark side at bay? Because it reminds him that there's still good people in the world? But ever since Clark found out about Lex's investigation he's basically treated Lex like some untrustworthy evildoer, even though Lex apologized and dropped everything (yes I know he's very much back to his old habit but that's only since Blank, I'm talking about Season 4 before that) So really, perhaps in Lex's view, Clark is taking advantage of their friendship just so he can get things he wants (sending Lois away, etc.) I'm not saying Clark is the bad guy, quite the contrary, but I think it's intriguing to look at things from Lex's perspective. Maybe that's why I find Lex's sudden evilness so jarring from his development thruout Season 4.

Good point. Clark seems to assume that all the things Lex suspects about him are only hunches that he THINKS are true. But in reality, with all the things he's seen and experienced since coming to Smallville and meeing Clark, he KNOWS that he hit Clark at 60 miles an hour. He KNOWS that Clark was in the cave. So he KNEW Clark would save Lana and therefore nothing would happen to her. But of course he doesn't know Clark has lost his powers.

And I kinda agree with DarkSkywalker, Clark's whining is a bit hypocritical. Even when it's something as low key as Lex asking Clark in the eps Ryan, if he thinks it's possible Ryan has special abilities. Clark immediately accuses him of trying to exploit Ryan. Trying to find the truth and exploiting are two different things. In reality Lex is what Chloe used to be except with more resources. Of course now it's entirely different, now he is trying to exploit Clark. But in the past, even in Season 4, all of his digging he kept to himself. HE wanted to know Clark's secret, but he never wanted anyone else to know. Like how he became angry with Roger Nixon or Perry White or that FBI agent when they tried to investigate. So if Clark had told him then Lex would've kept it a secret I think.

And remember what even Clark's parents said, with everything that has happened to Lex you can't blame him for trying to find the truth. This is why I don't like how they're handling Lex's turn to the dark side. I want them to show us SOMETHING ELSE than Lex trying to find out Clark's secret, in order to make us believe he is someone we should hate.

very accurate.

There was always another element all along viewed from Lex'es perspective..
He had some sencere ''protection for a friend'' kind of element in the whole
''find the secret'' activities thing underneath..

He always saw Clark as someone who could quite possibly use help in whatever he and his family were guarding.. There lies the basic conflict, him not seeing that he is trying too hard to demage what he wants to protect...

And "something else" that you want to see will come out of it, one way or another..

More good points. There is one other thing I have been wondering. Throughout most of Season 4 Lex was still of the mindset that he never wants anyone to get hurt. Like in Sacred with Jason and the Chinese guards, or in Run when he sees the thief is just a kid. What do you think made him change to the point where he's now willing to risk lives?

That and the fact that he's always been against unethical human testing and the like, as seen by the battle between him and his father in Season 3 when Lionel was cloning, using Adam as a guinea pig, etc. What could've changed his mind?

To much of this is becoming Clark pushing Lex to more extremes to find out what he already knows. Like i had said before. Lex knows Clark is superhuman, he just wants the proof. To much has gone on for him not to know.

well, he does feel like he's been lied a lot lately, by people
which he loves or likes..
there are already so many elements you can add up/spin off, but I still don't think he's at 180 about caring for lives.. some of the stuff was mentioned/ questioned earlier regarding ''using'' the freaks frame up thing..
And the line about ''rebuilding not only the town'' still had some kind of sincerity IMO.. I see (and foresee) no untolerable, unexplainable ''abruptnesses'' in his ''journey'' towards the ''real'' Lex..

Lara

I don't think Lex being evil is ever going to be a sincere desire to harm others rather his egotism and selfishness causes him to take whatever means necessary to get what he wants in the end. He's becoming increasingly focused and obsessive on the stones, the cave, Clark and at the same time more willing to think the end justifies the means. I do think the mystery of Clark is driving him crazy but it's just one piece of the puzzle. It's his inability to let it go that is really the problem. Chloe knew something was up and still didn't treat Clark as a lab animal. It was an imperfect friendship at best to begin with. The people that think Clark owed Lex the truth are almost without exception Clexers who see more to the relationship than the friendship so believe more is owed.

Let me explain what I mean by this abrupt jump in his journey. Up until the end of Season 4 he's basically been the same Lex. Manipulative and obsessive at times sure, but we still saw his good side in certain episodes throughout Season 4, like in Bound when he admits that he 'treated those women horribly' and told Clark not to give up on him. Or in Scare when he selflessly tested the cure on himself. Or in Onyx when he's in shock at what his other half did and apologizes and tells Clark that he's afraid of what could be inside him. Yet at the very end he sports an evil smile after talking to his father? Unless they're making Lex bipolar or plain schitzo, the way they're developing him doesn't make sense at all.

Then there's those who say the events in Onyx made him more evil. Well if that's the case then it appears the writers are going the "lightswitch" route despite saying his turn will be gradual. The abruptness more has to do with his overall demeanor in Commencement and Arrival. Going crazy on Chloe despite only a year ago he was protecting her from Lionel? Then in Mortal telling her that shes "playing a very dangerous game"? This sudden shift to Lionel-esque evilness doesn't quite jive with the majority of Season 4. I'm probably over-analyzing and getting a bit technical, but I'm just saying these recent dramatic changes in his behavior have occured over only a few episodes, whereas it should be over an entire season like we've had in the past.

I'm also of the opinion that Lex should never exactly 'accept' his dark side like in Commencement. It should happen without him being aware of it, as referenced along with the lightswitch line in Ryan.

Question if Lex was watching Chloe & Clark break in the ENTIRE TIME doesn't that mean he heard all of Chloe's & Clark's conversation's ? Like when Clark brought up Pete seeing his Space Ship so he was forced to tell him & like when Clark said normally he would just rip open the door & speed in & get what he needs. Lex HEARD ALL THAT & try not to come up with some excuse saying this is not possible. I think most would agree Lex would definitely bugged areas where people can break in. He may be an a$$ at times but he is not stupid. Unless the say otherwise I HIGHLY believe Lex heard everything Chloe & Clark talked about.

He CLOSED IT VERY QUICK when we saw that frame & who is to say he doesnt use another way to record sound ? But I would NOT rule out this possiblity. Even Chloe said "I'm not the one you should worry about" before the Clark & Lex confrontation

Okay, take it from me. There was no sound.

I watched that scene on AOL like more times than I care to count...

Wow exactly what i attempted to say, just a thousands times better.

To much of this is becoming Clark pushing Lex to more extremes to find out what he already knows. Like i had said before. Lex knows Clark is superhuman, he just wants the proof. To much has gone on for him not to know.

Lex in a lot of ways, has been a all around good person. To me Clark keeping his powers a secret to Lex, is having the most negative effect on the him.

Grammar good! Bizarro like!

If Clark just told Lex about his powers, there would be no rivalry.
They would get along fine.
The only thing damaging their relationship is Clark's secret

I'm 24 and am on my 3rd go-round with Superman comics. Ep 1 of Season 5 was the 1st "Smallville" episode I've watched, and it was pretty frickin sweet. Is Smallville in syndication yet? I wanna see the old eps, but I don't wanna have to buy the DVDs or rent them and have to watch them in a limited time span.

Yeah I remember watching to see if there was any sound as that could be a major point in the season but there wasnt any, you clearly saw Clakr getting hurt by the laser and no noises from him or Chloe checking he was ok

Smallville is currently airing on ABC Family weekdays at 7pm (if you're in the U.S), but they're showing Season 4 and I imagine they'll start from the beginning when thats over. Welcome:) and hope that helps
