Who would you want to play Spidey in the 80's or Batman in the 70's, etc.?

I have a few thoughts on some. I think Micheal J. Fox woulda' been a good Spidey in the 80's, I think it's kind of an obvious choice but might've been cool.

Kurt Russel as Wolverine in the 80's.

I think Jack Nicholson would've made a better Joker in the 70's.

Timothy Dalton for an 80's Iron Man

Alec Baldwin would have been an interesting Batman in the 80's.

and maybe Nicholas Hammond if we're talking late 70's Spider-man.

James Spader as late 70's/early 80's Cyclops.

Iman Bowie for 80s Storm

Dolph Lundgren for Captain America 80s

Rod Taylor for Ben Grimm/The Thing. Since that was the actor he was modeled on.

Same thing goes for Iman as Storm in the 70's or 80's.

And Michael J. Fox is wayyy too short for Spidey.

Ricardo Montalban as DOOM.

Oh Christ no.

Ricardo Montalban is good for 2 things and 2 things only. Wearing prosthetic pecs, and being impersonated for prank calls to George Tekai.

Besides Doom is supposed to be in his early 30's for his origin in an FF movie.

Telly Sevalas or Albert Finney as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin

Cynthia Rothick as Silver Sable.

The Brunette from Heart (The Heavy Metal Band) as Typhoid Mary.

Brigitte Nielsen as Black Widow

I know Patrick Stewart was just born for Professor X, how about Christopher Lloyd as Magneto!
Mark Summers as Scot Summers/Cyclops
Kurt Russel as Wolverine (See Especially his rolls in Big Trouble in little China and Escape from New Yorkt o see what I mean)
Kim Catrall as Rogue
Lisa Welchel as Jean Gray
Tracy Gold as Kitty Pryde
Michael Keaton as Hank McCoy/Beast
Val Kilmer as Bobby Drake/Iceman

I did this first in the Marvel Movies section except, Norman and and Harry were Jeffery Jones and Ralph Macchio.

Oh, and Eddie is a little premature; after all he didn't debut in the comics until 1988.

no disrespect to everyone who's picked him but gregory peck stank as an actor... he's awful in almost anything... he just flat put was no good... i havent spoke to one person, in person, who thinks otherwise... everytime i see something with him in, whether at home with friends and/or family or in college, where i'm doin film, someone notices how bad he is and that opinion is universal... like Mocking Bird he was good and roman holiday he was nice but what else...

and like i see the batman in him cause i think the artists pushed that upon wayne... but not supes... he is to weak

Steve Reeves as Superman, minus the beard.

Let me just say that Gregory Peck would have made a great Jor-El, Ron Perlman a great Thing/Ben Grimm and Jeff Goldblum a good Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards. And, just maybe, a young Harrison Ford as either the Hal Jordan Green Lantern or Cyclops.

Goldblum would've actually made a great Joker or Scarecrow in a 1980s' Batman flick. He's my choice for The Riddler in the current franchise.

John Cusack = Peter Parker

http://img.atpictures.com/cusack/cusack003.jpg

I watch Cusack in any of his films and he's closer to Peter Parker than Tobey Maguire is when he's actually playing the character.

Waaaay back in 2000 or so, someone asked Cusack in a web chat if he'd be up for playing Spidey, and Cusack said something like, "Of course, but all these young actors are trying to take it away from me." Not that it's likely Cusack was ever in the frame, but it's cool that he was intrested.

I like all your other picks but James Dean would only be like a retro version of the James Franco-ized Harry, which wasn't that reminiscent of the comic book version.

Yeah, it was the only bit of casting I wasn't happy with. However, his role in Vertigo occasionally rings somewhat Hartigan like. Only a few other people seem right for it. I was even thinking of Bogart at one point, just to complete the film noir badass triad I was putting together, but he doesn't really look the part, or act very Hartigan-ish, so I don't know.

I'm sorry if this sounds a bit fanboyish (as a Hitchcock fan), but I really can't accept anyone else really, just because Hitchcock would've given off the perfect film noir vibe and (I'm somewhat quoting something you said once) he'd also nail Bruce's obsessions and motivations. Couple it with Bernhard Herrman's score and Ernest Lehman's writing and you've got perfection.

Tourneor could've worked. Not as familliar with him as you are. I really need to check out Out Of The Past.

Out of the Past is a great movie, but I suggested him more because of some of his horror work, like "Cat People" and "I Walked With a Zombie", which are Noir horror horror films which are much better than the names would suggest.

And I completely agree with you, Hitchcock is the one you'd want for this project. But the thing I've been thinking about is that Hitchcock's films work best when they're complete stories. For instance, to me a Hitchcock Batman film would really play up the obsession, and there are only a few endings to all that I think Hitchcock would be interested in, and I'm not sure they'd be the happy ones. So it'd be harder to stick close to Batman mythology. Not that I'd mind:up:

I don't think you could have a truly happy Batman ending, because no matter what Bruce will never fully come to terms with his parents' death. He'll always be tormented by it.

I can actually see him doing an ending similar to Pyscho with The Joker in Arkhum, delivering a creepy smile and laughing like a madman. Now that would be a KICK ASS Batman ending.

I'd see him doing something more personal with Batman... and that's my problem with it. What would be a final enough ending for Batman as a character?

I don't know. Probably something similar to DKR.

See, the thing I could see it ending as, would be Batman taking down the villain of the picture and stumbling, severely wounded to Crime Alley, maybe dying there, but that seems a little depressing and far off from the mythos of Batman.

Perhaps it could be something bittersweet. Maybe Bruce in front of his parents' grave, telling them he's come to terms with their passing (I know that contradicts to what I said before), but at the same time realizes he can never break free of his obsession and motivation for being Bats. I can't come up with a good one that would genuinely fit Hitch's style.

Yeah, neither can I. The only other thing I can think of is that all throughout the film Batman is spiralling down, darker and darker, obsessed with his parents as well as taking down criminals and doing it violently. In the end, he realises the error of his ways and opens the Wayne Center for Criminal Rehabilitation or something and dedicates it to his parents.

That's a good one.

That Joker thing was just a thought. Personally, I would've liked to see Hitch do a trilogy of Bats flicks. I always wanted to see him do one focusing solely on Bruce and Selina's relationship and make it somewhat similar to Marnie.

Yeah, I would have that as the first one. I would like the villain to be Joker, and in the end Joker is the first patient of the Wayne Center, perhaps. I'd like the second one to be about Two-Face.

I think the first one should be somewhat structured like Begins. I would've loved to see Hitchcock Scarecrow. But The Joker should be in the first one, I agree. Maybe have Dent come in and The Joker scars him at the end. Catwoman would be third. Don't know where I'd go from there.

And just to add to my cast:

Vicki Vale - Grace Kelly, just because she's the most beautiful actress ever and Hitch loved her.

I'm also thinking about Spencer Tracy as Gordon, though I still love the idea of Douglas.
