First thank you for the feedback. Now I would like to respond and possible defend my work a bit. I’m glad you liked some of my photography, but to say others are not worth posting I find extremely insulting, now I’m not saying I’m the next Ansel Adams, hell far from it. Essentially
what I took from this comment was why bother. Now you made a valid point the bench is a tad too grainy, I goal was to make it seem like the image was the product of an old camera but maybe I went a tad overboard.

I personally fail to see how many of my images look the same, yes they to certain ones do tend to have the same subject matter but that is due to the fact of them being part of the different series and briefs for college, which included railways, natural environment and beauty in nature. Possible that is my fault I should have said, or organised the images like have on my personal website. On the subject of my favourites, these are my favourites out of say a collection of 250+ of photos, I tend to take nearly 60 or 70 shot with my digi camera when I go out. The large post is mainly due to me not posting any new work in a good few months, so its really just a case of all at once lol.

Finally I hope you haven’t took this response in anyway insulting, because none of it was meant that way, every art teacher has told me if you ask for critique be prepared to debate it. So I hope this hasn’t soured you on me or my work and I hope we can continue this debate.

That's all really. For the platform duo, I would have just posted the image with the train, it suits the composition better.

It's find that you posted both though, if you like them that's all that matters, I am just telling you what would be easier to crit, since it is hard to give comments on any particular image when you post so many at once

all the way back from page 4

this is the flat work pencils i'm doing for a commision for a friend in college, he gave me 3 or 4 head shots of a model and asked me to transform her in to the filimation style sorceress, he's happy so far so all i have to do is re-draw the final lines and a bit of shading,

Finally got this finished after 4 nights of work, i dont eman to sound boast full but the scans really dont make the image looks its best, i'm really proud of this piece( for the people who know me, know how big that is) if anyone can give me any advice on getting good quality scans on pencil tonage i'll gladly take it. :(

an experiment in a differnt style of colouring on one fo my old sketchs, i'm not great at it and the image was inked by hand and coloured in photoshop

took under an hour to colour and i'm quite pleased with the results

Produced studio images for a uni project

The grainy look was used to help enhance the bleak atmosphere of the shoot

these were done to be included in a ad for the nspcc about child abuse for the NSPCC

well i can't personally speak for everyone and i'm not trying to sound concieted or stuck up or anything....but i often find myself going through threads and not leaving replies simply because i don't find anything that catches my interest. and please don't take this the wrong way....i don't mean this in an offensive way, but your art is on subject matter (or media) that i, myself, don't have much interest in. like for instance...i don't really care for still photography and i've seen so much ridiculously good 3d in my studies that those low poly models don't really impress me.

i don't think anyone has any quarrels with you, and i hate to put it so bluntly, but that's just the reason I, MYSELF, feel.....but don't let that prevent you from making more art. just remember that real artists don't need other people's appraisal to enjoy art ;-)

fair enough photography is something I’ve always had an interest in photography but have only really focused on it due to my art college not having a drawing/illustration module(yeah I know how bloody dumb). so for me its a sort of a case of everything at one time. once I get some of my illustration stuff finished I’ll be posting loads of it.

on the subject of the models, I’ve said it many times that I don’t actually make them myself. I only produce the texture maps in PS. the models are meant for in game use on the pc game freedom force, I believe the lowest numbers of polys is around 2k. there's not meant to be life like 3D models, but I can vouch for there quality, each model is animation with certain characters having specific animation. now I know from what I’ve seen of your 3d you know how tricky texture mapping can be.

I couldn’t have put it better my self. I learned a long time ago that it is best to draw for yourself, but it also not wise to shut yourself off from the critique and advice of other artists. I have no qualm with taking negative feedback I’ve had plenty it all helps an artist grow. simple positive and negative feedback is great but its similar to none it doesn’t help you to grow. for you taking the time to post in a well thought out manor I am extremely grateful.


DF my friend I have been on these art boards from the beginning, hell me and mr.smash and bash were two of the first lot that campaigned for a fan art board, I ant going anywhere no matter what crap this place throws at me. what caused me to asked was that in the past I was part of the heated debates on this board about artists, there work and how the interacted with other members and was just curious if some of this was still being carried over

thats mantenna from the old she-ra toon, a group called the 4 horsemen have been making statues of the redesign, thats just a sketch of one of them with my own ideas throwen in

thanks to the guys over at newpower inc for giving me feedback on early models.

i'm extremlely happy with these, frosta perticulary the skirt,belt, face features, chest emblem and blue costume are all done from scratch, i only found out there was an alchemiss base after these parts were complete. :unsure:


other than that i decided to give my av another face lift.

for a group project on another board each artist was given a set characetr and had to produced that character in the style of samuri jack. clone wars

now i will say this i had never tryed the choosen style before so it was a shot in the dark. thought the style was fun it was too annoying for me i kept going to add detailing and diferent body structre, so i dont see me trying to use this look again, well not perminatly anyway :hmlol:

this is a guy i've wanted to skin for ages, but never thought i had the skill. i finally bite the bullet and went for it. the face was a pain to pull off and had to have a lot of retouching and alterations of the base skin. there still some stuff i'm not 100% on, but if i dont walk away from this skin now i will over work it

skins are texture maps that cover 3D digital models. mostly sued in games. i personally skin for the pc comic book game freedom force

started this one a while ago when i did a bunch of bat villians, but only really got back in mind to finish her after rewatching her TAS episodes. i couldnt decide which outfit to put her in so i did both. :lol:

i think i prefer the civ outfit rather than the catsuit, though i'm extremly happy with how her catsuit and blouse both came out

Back in 2004 , I did a sketch using the idea of what the character of mantenna would look like if visualised in a live action movie. the result were what follows

just over nearly 2 years later :holol:, I finally managed to drag this project out of development hell and give this guy a body.

I wanted to combine, both the horror/mystical elements from the new take along with the sci fi/technology based idea from the old. I also wanted to base him on something familiar to us so I look at a lot of insect type beings mostly stuff like the praying mantis etc. then just went nuts :sklol:

I wanted to play up the horde spy idea, but bring out a new more twisted side to him, I had the idea that the people would be scared of the horde as a whole but with mantenna there is just something creepy and strange that makes your skin crawl

this is only the pencil line work, I hope to get both inked and possibly colour, some time though the colour scheme could be fun to work with.
