Hi everybody! I am a pretty much (ok...COMPLETELY ;)) unknown model/actress trying VERY HARD to get a chance to read for the role of Wonder Woman...I am a comic geek to the core, and even getting to audition for the part would be a dream come true for me!!
If you want to know more about me, my work, and my Wonder Woman Quest, I'll have an "official" website up soon...For right now, though, you can check out
http://www.myspace.com/kaseykicksass
And, if you don't mind, it would mean an awfully lot to me if you showed your support by taking a sec to sign up for my (VERY newly formed) Yahoo group...It's called "Kasey Is Wonder Woman", and here's the link:
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/kaseyiswonderwoman/
I'm trying to get a respectable amount of members so I can begin promoting it on my website/resume/etc.
Thanks!! (even if you decide not to join my club!! :)
Peace and love, Kasey (aka The Chick On The Hopeless Wonder Woman Quest!! ;)
PS- This site has the coolest smileys EVER!!!!!!!!!!! :supes: :spidey: :supes:

OK...Here are the answers to everyone's post:
To BHK (lol) and PM: Thank you guys so much!! I appreciate your words of encouragement!! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
To HR: What an awesome reply...Thank you! And, thanks for telling me about the link...It's fixed now (hopefully! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
To CS: Why in the world CAN'T I be serious? Because I'm not "famous"? Just because you haven't heard of me doesn't mean I don't have the training and ability to do the job...And, most importantly, I have a genuine love and appreciation of the character that a lot of other actresses don't truly have...Many actresses want this job b/c it will further their careers...I assure you that is NOT my motivation whatsoever...I have A LOT of famous friends, and I know firsthand that fame is NOT all it's cracked up to be...I have no desire to be "famous"...My motivation for any role I do is to have fun...To enjoy life, and experience things through acting that I'd never get a chance to otherwise...I am, right at this moment, the right age/height/build/whatever to play Diana, so why not pursue the role w/100% of my effort? When I'm 90 years old in a nursing home somewhere, at least I can say I gave it my best shot...I believe in living life w/out regret, and if I held back b/c I was afraid of what people might think of me, I would most assuredly regret it.
And, besides, had you ever heard of Brandon Routh b/f he got cast as Superman? Fame does not necessarily equal ability or talent...I'm just sayin', is all!! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif
To The ? (a character I love, btw): I will have a website up soon w/all of my credits, training info., etc (and hopefully some clips...my webmaster hasn't gotten back to me about that yet http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif...Mostly my credits consist of cheesy horror films (b/c I'm a HUGE horror fiend, too, and I've had a blast playing those roles!! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif) though I've done commercials and small parts on soaps and shows like "Entourage" as well...I just completed a reality show which will (hopefully) be airing soon, and I'm currently working on a set of instructional martial arts DVDs w/a well known actor/martial arts expert...I'm 26 (though I KNOW I look younger, and could easily play a younger version of Diana), and, like I said, I hope to have clips available online soon! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

To W: I have been studying acting since the 1st grade...I've performed in everything from children's plays to Shakespeare, and have studied at many "prestigious" schools, under the supervision of many acclaimed instructors...But, of course, all of that doesn't necessarily mean anything...I will be sure to let you guys know when I have clips available for viewing so you can make up your own mind about my acting skills! :)

I'm soooo working on it!! The prob I have is that it's REALLY hard to find a good WW costume...They all have SOMETHING "off" about them...I am in the process of getting one made, though (by a person who actually worked on Lynda Carter's outfit...HOW RAD IS THAT?!!! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif), but it's taking FOREVER!! In the meantime, I think I'm going to get some done in my current "it's ok for now" ensemble...Here's a pic of me playing around in it when I was trying it on for sizing...It gives you an idea, at least. http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

Your eyes are probably the only thing that sets me off abt u being wonder woman...physically u are totally diana...but your eyes for some reason they are too relaxed or "smokey"...i always invisaged diana to be more fiery eyed and with a more determined look on her face....i hope this makes sense...and with the sais and all i am pretty sure u have the training as well for the part...but your eyes and your expressions are too "soft" for WW...tht being said I wouldnt be dissapointed if u did get to play diana....here's hoping u have the best of luck...

Hmmmm you definitely got the part / looks to play Wonder Woman
I am sure when the Studio is ready to cast they will tell movie sites & leave contact info there. Like for examble comingsoon.net has contact info for people wanting to try out for the upcoming Blade TV Series. So I am sure there will be a Casting Call for this movie when the time comes. There are ALWAYS casting calls for BIG movies. Heck they had one for X Men 3 & I am sure there will be one for a movie like this so just be patient  Everyone here agrees you definitely got the look for Wonder Woman so thats one step your done with

And, Mr. MV...As far as the "determined look in my eyes" thing...That's where the "acting" part comes in!! :) In my everyday life, I think I am more representative of Lynda Carter's take on WW, rather than the comic book version...While I really love the LC version (happy and smiley most of the time, but ready to kick ass at a moment's notice...lol!!:)), I'd be happy to play Diana any way she's written!! :)

Hay Kaseypoteet do you read Wonder Woman comics
Kaseypoteet
10-15-2005, 11:02 AM
Absolutely!!!! As well as most of the DC books, DD and Punisher, Elektra, Tomb Raider, Fathom, Vampirella, and Danger Girl (on the rare occasions when it actually comes out!! lol!! :)), and occasionally Spider-Man (though he's not one of my faves)...Basically I love any comic where dark-haired girls kick ass!! Hmmmm...Wonder why that is? ;)
I also write my own comic, called "Zen 3:16" (not yet available anywhere, as my artist/friend is VERY SLACK...but that's ok...He's cool anyway... ;)). I'm a comic geek to the core...What can I say? :)

Are you set up with an actress account at IMDb.com, Kasey? I couldn't find your name listed there.
Good luck, Kasey.
The Question
10-15-2005, 11:55 AM
Yeah. Good luck. I certainly wouldn't mind you look wise. But I'd need to see clips of your acting to make a full judgement.
Alright. I hate to be the 'Simon Cowell' here and its cool that your trying, but I really dont see it happening. I dont see the Lynda Carter resemblence and I dont know if Whedon is in the habit of casting an unknown. The reason Singer went out of his way to cast an unknown is because he wanted to respect Donner's ways from the 70s (which involved casting an unknown in order to genuinely market that actor as Superman alone). Whedon seems to have thrown some big name actress names out in the past, and now seems to be narrowing it down off a selected list of actresses. He may have already chosen someone but has not made it public. With the movie slated for 2007, productions going to have to start soon, and it may already be too late.
The Question

Anyways, good luck with your quest, Kasey. I'm sure it will be easy for your manager set you up for an audition when the auditions for the role start.

LOL...Sorry about the pics...I'm kinda open-minded about stuff like that...I think nudity is art, regardless of what size/shape/whatever you are, so nothing offends me.
And, don't worry about the Simon Cowell thing, CS...I wouldn't have gone into acting in the first place if all I wanted was for people to kiss me booty...Acting is all about rejection...I definitely don't mind hearing honest, constructive criticism...I know it's a long shot, but, like I said before, I've got absolutely nothing to lose by trying.
And, part of this "taking my quest" to the people bit is so that WHEN I book a meeting, I will be able to show the PTB that there are people who are willing to watch an unknown take over this role, particularly if she happens to be a true comic fan.
Also, as far as me not "looking" the part: There's never going to be anybody that is going to be a 100% perfect match to Diana physically who can truly capture her essence w/their acting as well...All I'm saying is that I feel I've enough of the skills/personality/acting/and professionalism, as well as a pretty strong physical resemblane (I'm 5'9", btw...put me in heels, and I'm WAAAY amazonian!! ;)) all wrapped into one to be able to pull off the role if they are willing to gamble on an unknown...And Brandon R. will, hopefully, help give them a bit more faith in that idea. :)
BTW, I am trying to get my clips avaiable online ASAP...I'll definitely let you guys know when they're posted. :)

Oops...Forgot to answer the IMDb thing:
I have been in a few productions which are listed in the database already...Currently, my manager is trying to get more of my (awful b-caliber) films listed, as well as getting my profile up and running...Alas, they said it could take up to 8 weeks b/f they post anything, so I'm just kinda playing the waiting game on that right now.
And, in case you're wondering, I have only been in LA for about a month now...Before that, my focus was on modeling, and I was based out of the Seattle/Vancouver area...I only flew down here when really fun and/or important acting opportunities presented themselves...Now, however, I am persuing my acting full-time, and hopefully I'll have a lot more credits (at least ones that don't have cheesy titles like "Zombie Cheerleader Squad From Hell" and "Death Planet"...Oy!!! ***rolls eyes in embarassment***) soon. :)

1. To get more "toned", I could easily get a personal trainer...Remember how non-Spidey-like TM is when he's not Spidey?!! Oy...BIG difference when he's working on the film, and when he's not.
2. Boob job or not shouldn't matter...There won't be any nude scenes in the film, and they will "push-up" the chest of the actress they cast, regardless (think LL in Xena, or JG in Elektra)...Pushed up or implants...They all look the same in the costume...Plus, most CB artists draw their characters w/the "implant" look...Michael Turner does this a lot, for example...It fits better w/an overall muscular figured than "natural" (aka saggy...no offense to anyone) breasts do.
3. I've had many offers to do porn, but will NEVER go that route...I fully support anyone who chooses to do so, but it's not for me...I have studied a lot of years to be a true "actress"...Not just somebody who looks good w/her clothes off. :)
NulTide
10-17-2005, 01:59 AM
Turner is a horrible artist with a terrible sense of anatomy. The good WW artists like Adam Hughs for example draw WW with natural looking breasts. And even a novice breast enthusiast can tell when boobs look fake. I haven't seen one boobjob that didn't look like upturned teacups sitting on their chest, and it's even more noticable when they are pushed up by a bikini or corset or what not. And muscular woman who've had boob jobs are the worst of all, because it looks like they have two balloons glued to their man pecks.
Sorry, honestly I can't see you as WW. You're attractive, but you just don't have the look, IMO. I'm sure the nerds on here we'll disagree hoping that you'll show them attention, but whatver.

Oh, and also, did you check out the pic I posted in the WW outfit? You can't see my breasts at all in that picture...The way WW's figure looks in the film is going to have more to do w/how the costume is designed than anything else.

not really. i mean WW is a rolemodel, she doesn't need to be encouraging young girls not to be happy with themselves and go out and get breast enlargements. WW comes from a mystical amazon island. They don't have botox and tanning beds and waxing salons. She should look all natural. Just my opinion, no offense.

her outfit can be influenced by many things from her own, amazonian culture and not the "man's world". ancient greeks already wore jewelry and such. The "satin tights", don't necesscarily have to be made out of satin. It could be an amazonian warrior outfit or some such. And WW was created in the form of a human, with the beauty of Aphrodite. I'm sure with such genes she wouldn't sproute unsightly body hair. I guess, personally I don't find big plastic balloon boobs that attractive, expecially on WW....

WW is often drawn in a manner similar to this:
http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/1249/al20vz.gif
which is quite implant-atious, wouldn't you say? (Yes, I did just make that word up...It rocks though, don't ya think? ;)) Besides...They can always downplay the boobs w/the costume design, as I was saying before.

Man, it's only drawn that way because most comicbook artists suck. You don't see Christian Bale or Chris Reeves with the bulbous muscles that their respective characters are drawn with, do you? Most good artists draw characters with realistic anatomy, like Hitch, Ross, Hughs, and that one dude.
and if they did an exact translation of that pic her underwear would barely cover her nether regions and would ride up her butt...

but that's YOUR opinion...I think it's an AWESOME pic, but I just posted it to show that there are MANY interpretations of WW...Whedon's gonna go w/his vision, regardless...and I think he's going to be looking at a lot more than a gal's boobs when making his choice.
Sleepy time now...We can argue about boobage some other time! ;)

That's one step in the right direction. (I've seen athletes with better shoulders than J. Garner.) If they really expect you to do some stunts I'd like to recommend a book by Danielle Burgio. She's done stunts in Daredevil and the Matrix. It's called "The Stuntwoman's Workout: Get Your Body Ready for Anything". It has useful tips in preparing your body.

Hey, you've got my vote. As an aspiring actor myself, I can understand wanting to play an iconic character (particularly a comic book one). It's one of my goals as an actor to play a superhero in a film at some point in time. If I could play any superhero, I'd probably be Batman, but since we already have the perfect Batman in Christian Bale, I'd like to take a shot at playing either Green Lantern Hal Jordan or Gl Kyle Raynor.

And, I totally agree that CB is the perfect Batman...A lot of people are devoted to Keaton's portrayal, but I think CB did a much better job of accurately capturing Batman's depth and inner turmoil.

Wow, are you trying to make all the guys on this board fall in love with you? jk ;) Yeah, I agree with you about Bale. Keaton was great, but Bale fit the role through and through... he conveyed more of the drak emotions and internal conflicts that Batman/Bruce Wayne requires. Plus, he fit the role physically a lot more than Keaton did. Still, I blame the problems of Batman '89 and Batman Returns on Tim Burton. Don't get me wrong, he's a great director, but he was oblivious to the fact that both of his Batman movies were more about the villains than they were about the title character.
All that aside, I think you'd make a great Wonder Woman simply based on the fact that you're a fan, you obviously understand the character, and you're actually taking the time to discuss it with other fans (plus, you're a hottie). I can't stand when they cast actors for these roles who not only don't know anything about the characters that they are playing, and then, once cast, still don't do any research **cough** Halle Berry **cough**. The actors that I respect the most prepare for a role by studying up on the source material and then creating something original out of it. I'm currently in this dinner theater production where I play a very Humphrey Bogart-esque detective character, so I spent weeks watching Bogart's films, studying his voice patterns, mannerisms, etc., to try to capture the essence of his character (particularly his Sam Spade) but then also spent time trying to bring other elements into the role so it didn't seem like I was just doing an impression. Anyway, long story short, I think what makes acting an artform is one's ability to take what you're given in a role and expand upon it, to the point where (hopefully) most if not all of the people who see it are simply blown away.

The writers and artists actually frequent those boards, so who knows... if one of them should happen upon your picture and your info, maybe they'll bump it along to Whedon or someone else. Maybe not, but its worth a shot.

Thank you so much for your super kind words!! And I think you understand EXACTLY where I'm coming from...I'm not here saying I am WW incarnate...NOBODY is...But, I believe w/all my heart that I have enough of her attributes (plus the acting chops) to pull off a portrayal of her that true WW fans can be proud of (as a fan myself I wouldn't want anything less!!). If I didn't really believe I could do her justice, I wouldn't even begin to contemplate trying to get myself out there for consideration...As I said before, I am NOT interested in being "famous"...I'm in acting for the fun of it, and for the love of the art (honestly!!!). And I think I'd be able to bring that to the role...Nobody would work harder to pull off a respectful, accurate version of Diana than I would...I'm relatively sure of that. :)

In case I missed it, why do you deserve to be WW other then just wanting the job to help your career?
I think I pretty well covered that in my last reply, but, jic, here's my original reply to a similar question:
"Why in the world CAN'T I be serious?
Fame does not necessarily equal ability or talent...I'm just sayin', is all!! http://www.superherohype.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif"

2. Awww...***blush!!*** :D
3. That's EXACTLY my plan...I am starting early w/this whole "campaigning" thing in the hope that it will actually get me a chance at an honest-to-God reading...I'm scared that Whedon will ONLY look at "name" actresses, and that b/c I haven't devoted my professional life to "fame-seeking" thus far, I won't even be given the chance to try...THAT is my real goal...To read for Diana...If, in the end, I'm not chosen (and if there is somebody who would be more suitable, then I WOULDN'T WANT to be chosen, as I truly want what is best for Diana), I will be more than satisified knowing I absolutely gave it my best shot...And, of course, I'd be more than happy to be part of the film in any conceivable way...even as an extra!!! But, I'm not setting out w/the goal of "being an extra" in mind, y'know? As I said before, I'm going to do my best, and let fate deal the cards as it sees fit!! :)

I can't tell you how many so-called theater people I've worked with who have this stupid high-school popularity contest mentality about it. I'm sure you'd make a great Wonder Woman. But hey, even if that role goes to someone else, don't let it crush you. Judging by your look, I think you'd make a GREAT Selina Kyle (a character I'm HOPING will show up sometime down the line in the new Batman franchise) or... didn't they say a Zatanna movie was possible in pre-production? Here's my two cents. I'm a 31 year old guy and so teen hormones are no longer my master. Are you attractive,...physically? Sure. That can't be debated. It's a moot point. But,....my question is,...what are your acting skills like? Can you bring the serene calmness of Diana to life? Can you within that same breath change at a moment's notice to be fierce, and confrontational, and prepared to do battle? Can you be stern and yet not appear overly agressive?
I don't ask these questions to be rude, or mean, or a jerk,...but, there is SO MUCH MORE to Diana than a pretty face and a hot body. Have you read Wonder Woman #219? Could you pull that off and make it believable? Because in truth, although Lynda Carter was a wonderful Wonder Woman for her time,...the days of Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman are LONG GONE. We don't wanna see Wonder Woman smiling with every single one of her teeth showing, at the end of EVERY episode. We want to see Diana as a warrior and at the same time not lose her femininity entirely. So many women in the real world try to couple strength with femininity and often fail. They can't quite marry their femininity with a strong personality. One usually over powers the other.
Lastly, in looking at your Wonder Woman costume picture, in all honesty, the pose is the typical pose I hate seeing girls stand in. It's suppose to be a stance, preparing to fight, and it looks far too stiff and non-threatening. I see that far too often on TV or movies where girls are supposed to be these amazing fighters, yet their poses are weak and stiff, and there appears as if there is ABSOLUTELY NO STRENGTH behind ANY of their kicks or punches (I say this as someone who studied martial arts and fighting techniques for years). If Sarah Michelle Gellar hit me with any of those sorry a$$ punches or kicks she delivered on Buffy,...I'd laugh and knock her the ____ out with one hit or kick. It should ALWAYS appear as if there is strength behind those punches and kicks delivered by women,...like Carrie Ann Moss in the Matrix or Zhang Zi Yi in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, or Rush Hour 2.
Now I did like the pose of you with the sais, but that was more a posing picture to capture your audiences attention,...which it did. Very powerful,...very noticable. Now I want to see an actual stance or attack pose that looks believable.
I wish ya the best. Don't take my words too critically, but if you see anything I said that you agree with, work on that. If not, roll your eyes and forget everything I typed.
Take Care,
Scorpion

Hi, umm I think you need one other thing to attempt to convince the producers.
Its a scary one....
You'll have to go in and wear NO make up whatsoever.
Because Wonder Woman is a natural beauty above all, and you'll have to show them (and maybe us) you w/o any make up.
Uhhh... binker. No offence, but do you honestly believe that they're NOT going to put gallons and gallons of make up on the actress who plays wonder woman in the end anyways?

True. But at least they won't have to go through plastic surgery at the studio's demands. That happened to some actresses back in the golden ages.
Binker
10-24-2005, 12:18 PM
No, I meant that the actress' who would go and try to get the part shoudl go in with no make up so not only would they try to look the part, but pull off looking like an amazon and as a natural beauty. Showing to everyone, and maybe the world, that you don't need make up to pull off beauty.
But I ain't starting something.
Well binker, I respect your opinion, but personally I don't think it would matter either way (granted, it's never attractive to see a woman where her skin is entirely comprised of makeup).

None of that.

Here is my advice for what it's worth...
Play it up a bit more wholesome, WW is representitive of the American Dream as well... there are so many facets to this character (most likely due to the fact that so many minds have gone into creating her) and this is one facet that shouldn't be played down.
You are already an extremely, ridiculously attractive woman... that is given, you don't need to play it up, focus on incorporating other aspects that aren't already prone towards your forte. I know Adam Hughes said recently that WW has the sort of inspiring spirit that would make you want "to do good just by looking at her" or some such (someone know the qoute I mean?). I would also look into the Misc. forums here where many of the posters do artistic photo manipulations and I think you might do well to investigate into getting some manip representations of you to show around until the finished costume is available to you.
my 2 cents worth, anyway...

:supes: :spidey: :supes: I was gonna laugh too but when I took a look at your pic I was dumbfounded. Not only are you drop dead gorgeous but you actually look like wonderwoman and would make a good one. I know that's only based on looks but like Donald Trump said "acting ain't that hard, trust me." I think you would make a better ww than most suggested on the board. I myself recommended another unknown (Melissa Witek, Ms Florida 2005 and 4th runner up at the Miss Usa Pageant) but I would certainly watch the movie if you were in it. I was trying to get onto your friend list on myspace but I cant figure it out so I just gave up. Still learnin the whole thing, not on all that much.

There are actually a suprising number of hot geek girls in the world. Although, many of them are more into Anime. Still, you take what you can get. :o
Also, in case Kasey ever comes back, here's an added thought. I just saw a more extended video of her online (she has an online news/interveiw type show where she discusses geek stuff like comics and video games), and I must say, my only worry about her being Wonder Woman is her voice. I've always imagined Diana having a deeper voice.

Yeah. They'd be too worried about it causing a "scandal." Shame, too. Still, she could still always audition. If he feels she's right for the part, I'm sure the good Mr. Whedon would stand behind her.

10-01-2006, 07:25 PM
The good Mr. Whedon still isn't anywhere powerful enough to tell Warner Brothers what will or won't happen in a DC Comics movie, or who will or won't be in it. Hell, nobody is that powerful, probably.
On the plus side, Ms. Poteet will now have a starring role in her own special series in my imagination, probably every night for the foreseeable future. Congrats, Kasey.

True. But then, there are actions of studio polotics that could be taken if such a thing were to happen. First off, by the time casting roles around, they'd be so far into it that the film would fall back into developement hell without Joss. Also, Joss has his loyal army of Browncoats who would be on WB's ass in an instant if they heard that they wouldn't accept an actress he wanted. So, it might be more of a stalemate than you'd expect.

The Browncoats couldn't rank him a second movie deal for a creator-directed project (very unfortunately), so I doubt they have enough pull to change WB's mind when it comes to a cultural icon like Wonder Woman, whom, while engaged in all sorts of kinky business in the fans' minds, must be pure in all public venues.
Then again, they let a soft-core porn director **** all over 'Catwoman'... but I think the stakes here are higher, and it's possible that a lesson might have been learned.

True. Still, studio polotics is a funny thing. Executive descisions can be swayed for many reasons. Especially if the film's very close to the first day of shooting.

Yeah, but the lesson hardly applies. Pitof's just a lousy director and hired lousy writers. We're talking about an actress. If she's got the talant for the part, what she does on the internet wouldn't effect the film's quality in th slightest.

What she does on the internet won't affect the film's quality. What she does on the internet affects her... whatever you want to call it... credibility, viability... her ability to not be crossed off the list to avoid any possibility of any kind of scandal.

Okay, I just saw that E3 video on her webpage. Yeah, she's not going to get cast. She's what they would call "difficult." She has "principles" and "beliefs" and wants to have things her way, so no, she's too much of a risk. At least that's how I'd see it if I were a hyper-controlling studio executive who was afraid of losing time, money and face with the public. She's an activist against censorship. That's probably a red flag and denotes an unwillingness to self-monitor enough to avoid future scandal.
I'm not saying she shouldn't have the role. I'm playing devil's advocate and saying what their reasons would be for not choosing her. I wished her all the best in this endeavor last year and I meant it.

I seriously doubt that that will be a show-stopper. In actuallity negative pub often has a reverse effect on the careers of actors and actresses. One person that comes to mind is Vanessa Williams. From what I remember she was dethrowned from her post as Miss America after some nude photos of her was published in Penthouse Magazine. I think you know the rest of the story after that. The same thing happend to Madonna, and you know about the drug problems of Morton Downey Jr... Oh yeah! How about Charlie Sheen who is about to become the highest paid actor on television?
