I thought this was interesting in next week's TV Guide:

Chloe fans are not going to be happy when Carrie Fisher drops in as the brittle Daily Planet honcho who gives their favorite newsie a rude awakening about her future at the paper. Hopefully, the tongue-in-cheek irony of Lana with a vampire sorority girl named Buffy, while ex-Spike James Marsters settles in a Professor Fine, is enough to take away some of the sting.

Completely agreed. Chloe in the DP with Carrie Fisher, Brainiac and Lex interacting will save this episode. But the vampire/Buffy stuff WILL be hard to take.:down

There are so many other excellent elements in this episode, they didn't have to toss in a vampire side story.

Gah! I'm just hoping it turns out to be better on screen than it looks on paper. I DID enjoy Spell, despite the witch protestations and ridiculous plot, so I'm hanging in there. ;)

I think its cool they're having a Halloween themed episode, at least the vampire theme is not for no good reason, and Clark in a costume sounds cute...honestly I'm ready for a little levity on SV, I really don't need to be crying every episode, lol

I agree Melly. And I honestly think that Lex has something to do with these Vampires, as he turns up in the hospital to give Chloe the serum.

Lana appears to have gained some of Clark's powers, so that should play out in a fun way.

But as you say its a fun Halloween episode and not every episode needs to be gut wrenching and full of mythology.

Nah, my biggest beef is the whole vampire thing. I have no problem with a Halloween episode. I just think they could have been a little more creative. Mind you, I know I haven't seen the episode yet, but they're even *advertising* the FOTW's as vampires. Blech. At least episodes like Nocturne and Skinwalkers had horror-based plots without making blatant references to genre staples like werewolves.

It seems apparent that Thirst's vampire subplot is there to pander to Buffy fans and help spike (pun intended) the episode's ratings. I just hope it works and doesn't backfire on 'em. They used sex to boost the ratings in the fourth season and that didn't go over so well.

All that said, I'm still looking forward to the ep. Even a bad episode of SV is better than most of the other junk on TV today.

Nicely said, Melly.
I like it that they try to mix it up a bit. That's a big part of why I liked Sacred - they got out of SV for once! I guess I just like an occasional change of pace. Both Buffy and XFiles were successful with stepping outside the norm on occasion, and I think SV can do the same.

Or, it could suck. :D

with the roll the writers have been on so far this season, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Honestly, I dont mind when they do the tongue in cheek stuff like naming the vampire "Buffy" or having Aquaman say that he doesnt "travel with an Entourage". Sure it might be a bit cheesey, but it's nice nod to those two shows. I think people are getting way too wound up about this..

I love nods like that... and the best one I ever saw was Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Maverick. Now that really had me on the floor laughing my ******* face off.

I think if its done well, then it is extremely entertaining. And as Hulk said, the writing has been really good so far this season. Some lightheartedness will be welcomed by episode 5.

I just looked at the trailer caps for Thirst that are posted at K-Site.

Is Chloe dressed as Brittany Spears in that schoolgirl video? LOL.. Cute.

They also show Lana in costume as a black cat (one of my favorite costumes, btw. :)).. but sadly, no peek at what our Hero is going to be wearing. I'm dying to know.. Something with a cape according to spoilers. I really hope it's :batman: . Hey.. they keep saying they can't have Bruce Wayne on the show, so this would be a clever way to at least squeeze a little in.

Poor Lana.. Lois gets to prance around in a hot bikini (two actually) and Lana gets to wear fake vampire teeth and make silly vamp faces. :(

Ok, the trailer sucked (lana as a vampire) Oh brother ,

So far all I'm looking forward to in this episode is.

(1) Chloe goes to The Daily Planet and meet's Carrie Fisher

(2) Clark in a costume

(3) Brainiac

(4) More SOB Lex Luthor.

Other than that I have no intrest in seeing a ridiculous vampire theme with Lana. becoming a vampire. :down :down

Really the preview looks "meh" to me. But the writers have been 4 for 4 this season thus far, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here. Assuming SV keeps the relative timelines correct, Batman doesn't "exist" yet in SV continuity. He's just like Superman in that regard.

I really only see two possibilities:

* Dracula, which would fall into the episode nicely considering the story, or
* Warrior Angel, which would be GREAT foreshadowing since Warrior Angel is a "strange visitor from another planet who protects the weak."

I mean I know Whedon invented vampires and all, but c'mon :rolleyes:LOL! Nah, I don't see it as a whole episode dedication, and I do like the Halloween theme, but the use of vampires as a plot point - with one of them actually *named* "Buffy," IS a ratings gimmick. It has as much to do with Marsters' casting as Reeve's was explaining Clark's origins in Rosetta, or Wopat playing a character named "Jennings," driving around in a Dodge Charger - with doors that are stuck shut no less - in Exposed. ;)

I thought Transference sounded uber lame going into last season, and that's one of the eps that really blew me away...When I first heard about the plot of Transference, I couldn't WAIT to see it. I *knew* it was going to be one of my favorite episodes ever. We talked about that ep (prior to its airing) quite a bit in the old TW thread over in the film forum because we knew it was going to be Welling's chance to show some acting chops since he could shed the simplicity that was Clark for one episode.

Especially since there a rumored scene in this ep of Clark doing something, that may make some fans squeal (happily)The only rumored scene that stands out to me is Lana getting heat vision temporarily. That STILL bugs me to no end. What scene are you thinking of? Give me something to look forward to in this vampire plot, Hulk. Right now, the only thing I'm hanging my hat on is Chloe at the Daily Planet, and Clark wearing a Halloween costume with a cape. LOL

Since the spoilers mentioned a mask too, I'm going to go with Zorro, since he's wearing all black in the trailer--and Zorro has a cape.
I'm going to reserve judgement until I see the ep, because they may just have fun with it, and its Halloween, and they've been really good about using whatever happens in the show to advance the plot, and I know Lex for some reason has the serum to cure Chloe, so something is going on there, and then we have Dr. Fine (who I love!) So it may turn out to be good after all:)

I'm giving this one the benefit of the doubt though the spoilers and trailer have made it pretty tough.

My big hangup is the Lana heat vision thing. Why do they need to constantly give her some kind of power? Though what bugs me most about this is that the powers come from meteor rocks and are temporary. WTF does that mean every FOTW is gonna haver their powers wear off?

But if thats the only thing I guess I can handle it bro

10-21-2005, 09:15 AM
If it is taken as satirical and is supposed to be funny, I'll be able to ignore the majority that worries me. I guess there is no reason that SV can't do a halloween episode.

There is just so much other stuff in this episode to like though. All the non Vamp stuff is going to just outright rock!

The Question
10-21-2005, 09:29 AM
Well, about vampires, they are a part of the DCU, and Superman has had run ins with them in the past. Since this series is about him learning about the world on his path to becom,e Superman, encountering vampires (and any mystical creatures/demons) is inevitable. I know they had the witches last season, but there's more to the DCU magic than that.

Serene
10-21-2005, 09:37 AM
But Bruce Wayne doesn't wear a cape.
I know.. but Bats does! I should have said Batman, that's the costume I meant.

Assuming SV keeps the relative timelines correct, Batman doesn't "exist" yet in SV continuity. He's just like Superman in that regard.
He could exist in the SV universe as the fictional superhero that he is. They've made references to Superheroes.. so I think it would be within the realm of possibility at least. But it is doubtful they'll do that. Doing so essentially closes the door of ever having Bruce Wayne as a character make an appearance. Even though they say it will never happen, why close the door on it?

I really only see two possibilities:

* Dracula, which would fall into the episode nicely considering the story, or
* Warrior Angel, which would be GREAT foreshadowing since Warrior Angel is a "strange visitor from another planet who protects the weak."
LOL.. Dracula was one of the guesses I made last night while talking to trip in late night IM's. :) But the spoilers say he's wearing a mask with the costume, so we ruled that out.
Warrior Angel is a REALLY good one!

The only rumored scene that stands out to me is Lana getting heat vision temporarily. That STILL bugs me to no end.
That's one scene that I am looking forward to. For some reason I find it hysterical.
But you know.. I have sense-of-humor issues. :D

Give me something to look forward to in this vampire plot, Hulk. Right now, the only thing I'm hanging my hat on is Chloe at the Daily Planet, and Clark wearing a Halloween costume with a cape. LOL
Clark with a cape... isn't that enough? Hey.. maybe the cape is the entire costume! LOL.. I could look at that for 46 minutes.. easy! ;)

If we assume that SV will give reference to other Superheros how about this for a costume:

From the looks of the coming attractions, next week's episode is going to be pretty awful. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Now, I don't expect the writers to hit the ball out of the park for every episode of Smallville. I can only hope that viewers won't write off the show because of next week's episode and stop watching altogether. That would be a mistake because the November sweeps episodes sound AWESOME!

What Has The Show Come To When Brainiac, An Important Villian, Comes To Smallville To Be A Professeur

It's brilliant. Brilliant. It'll be easier for him to get into Clark's head that way and influence his choices.

And he quotes Groucho Marx! How can you not like that in an evil super computer? Compare that to Lex who quotes from obscure German poets and ancient Greek Historians....

He's like the anti-Lex. More accesible. He's not intellectually elitist like Lex, but still obviously smart and he challenges Clark.

Which Clark needs, btw. No one really does that on an intellectual level, not even Lex.

Clark has already warmed to Fine so I think it's brilliant.

Which Clark needs, btw. No one really does that on an intellectual level, not even Lex.

Clark has already warmed to Fine so I think it's brilliant.

Damn... I had a long reply all written out and I lost it....

I talk about this some in my review, but I think it's brilliant.

Brainiac coming in as a professor who can teach Clark about how things really work (especially about what "really" happened to Krypton) is briliant. Clark looks up to him already, so it will be easier for Brainiac to insinuate himself into Clark's life that way and influence his actions.

It's a far better choice than, say, coming in as a neighbor or something like that. As Clark's professor, Clark will see him several times a week and now that he's Fine's research assistant maybe even see him almost daily.

He'll have a huge influence on Clark's changing viewpoint on his place in the world, even before Clark realizes he's even being influenced.

It's brilliant.

Strike me down, but I've seen the second trailer and this episode looks so so so so stupid silly. Last year when they aired the Spell trailer, I was VERY intrigued. I personally thought they pulled off the witch theme in *that* episode very well, and of course I am a big fan of shirtless Clark + TC. However, Thirst literally makes me feel immediately embarassed for them (and me for sitting there and watching it). I hope they play it up so that it truly is humorous as it looks. But the Smallville crew as vampires is just not sitting well with me. TC or not.

Wait! Look at the guy behind Lana right after her VO says, "shut up Clark; you talk too much." You can't really see his face, but you can see his arms. Is that Clark? If so, his "costume" is bare armed, and he's got a tattoo on his right upper arm. That doesn't really fit Zorro, Dracula, OR Warrior Angel. LOL

Aight, my interest in this episode is rising. ;)

NO, that's not Clark, that's just some cowboy at the party lol.

Fine And The Spaceship
- In one of the last scenes of the episode, Fine has made his way into the LuthorCorp hangar and is face to face with the black Kryptonian spaceship. He smiles like a man returning home. He reaches out to touch the ship, but is interrupted by a clicking noise. Lex's henchman, Ramirez, is behind him and has a gun pointed to his head. "Shouldn't be putting your hands on things that aren't yours, professor," Ramirez tells him.
- "Actually, it is mine," Fine tells him. His hands morph into black metal spikes which pierce Ramirez's skull. Fine turns back to the ship and touches it. As his hand touches the ship, it too morphs into black metal. His entire body follows as he is absorbed back into the hull of the ship.....

well considering he's not "Aquaman" yet, I'm not exactly sure why you expected to see full fledged Aquaman? His origin about his parents was spot on from the comics. He could swim incredibly fast and was focused on protecting the world's oceans. Sounds like a young Arthur Curry to me...

I never cared about the vampires stories..
I never watched a minute of Buffy The Whatever.. Has my zero level interest..
So everything would point to ''logical'' conclusion - I will not enjoy Thirst..
Wrong.. I know I will.. No way in hell I won't.. :)

Seems funny? Cheesy? Ilogical, inconsistent?
Not really..

Let's ''rationalize away''..

Take Beatles and their way of mixing things up..
I do not care about blues, jazz, or indian music..
I care even less about umm, vaudeville ''stuff''..
But will I enjoy a Beatle song with elements of these?
Of course I will.. :)

That mini clip is awesome, isnt it. You can just see Lex looking troubled and thinking someone has met my match.

Watching it, I thought he was talking about using the Central Kansas funds, but I wonder if its Met U and that ties in with the vampires. Lex seems to have the serum to counteract it.

I think they cut something from the scene... Maybe that will be in there, which college they're talking about.

Maybe it could explain the vampirism on Met U's campus, it's connected to some unethical experimentation Lex is doing....

And that scene put me in mind of a terrific line from a fanfic I read the other day. Clark was saying this to Lex, post-rift:

You put the "ee" in Evil.

LOL!

I think that could be better said about Fine in Smallville.

I just watched it again, you might be right about some things being cut.

I love Fine's comments about not everyone having a deep dark secret. Brilliant! He's going to be playing Lex like the future Superman will, sort of.

Did you also notice him knocking two balls at a time in while he was playing pool. "Its all about the angles". He's a double hitter.

Didn't one of the spoilers say it's not *real* vampirism..but some green-K related syndrome? It's not a far stretch to imagine Luthorcorp having a hand in starting it (don't all their "experiments" go awry?;)). If they started it, then maybe they also have the cure.

Is it Luthorcorp that Lex is running now, or Lexcorp? And what happened to the other one? I know when Lionel went to prison, Lex must have gotten control of Luthorcorp, but then what happened to Lexcorp?

Well Clark gets infected (nice TC) because of the Green K. So I'm assuming that they are krypto vampires.

Didnt Lionel sweep Lexcorp back out from under Lex in early Season 2 and consumed it back into Luthorcorp. I recall something like that going on.

They aren't real vampires, in the spoilers it was some kind of virus so it could very well be a Luthorcorp experiment gone awry, like they always do....

I LOVED the exchange between Lex and Fine, but that scene with Lana just pushed me WAY over the edge. All I could think was Dawn Stiles, and you guys know how much I LOOOOOAAAAATHEED that character with a PASSION!!!

Hulk, it's like nails on a blackboard. No wait! It's worse than that. It's like having your teeth engraved with an ice pick. I'd rather pluck my eyes out with a fork.

If they HAD to do a vampire episode, I would have preferred the characters be presented in a more serious light. NO CAMP!!!!!!!!!!! That was the deal breaker with Buffy and why I never watched that show. I expect more from SV, especially with the quality of the episodes so far this season.

Am I looking forward to everything else in the episode? You bet!!!! Chloe at the Planet, Lex and Fine, Clark in a costume!!! :D  But this vampire side story is gonna drag the entire ep down for me, I think. :(

I cringed when I saw that clip.Indeed. The scene is just cringe worthy. It was.... I dunno.... STUPID! The blonde bimbo shtick may have worked for a high school student (I still hated it, but I can understand how some people saw relevance to the character), it just doesn't work in a college setting. I felt as if the camp pulled me out of the scene by my hair.

99% of the time I buy into these characters. They're played like REAL people with REAL problems, albeit way OUT there problems in Clark's case. But he's still very much the real deal. When I saw that campy sorority of vampires doing their initiation dance, there was nothing real about it anymore. It was just ridiculous fluff for the sake of entertainment. It cheapens the seriousness of the rest of the episode and reduces its impact because these characters are laughable, not scary. It's a Halloween episode - I say go for the horror, not the silliness.

However, I'm not sure anything will get me to watch Lucy ever again. Unless I just fast forward through all it to just watch the leap from the bridge to the top of that semi.Lucy was just a boring episode (aside from the leap). Even the ski chase at the beginning was pointless. That's what made that episode "bad" in comparison to other episodes. Thirst's vampire plot just seems stupid.

But I'll reserve further comments until after I view it tonight. Who knows? Maybe the characterization has to be seen in context with the rest of the episode to "get" it?

Anyone else having that problem?Well, unless something happened between when I watched it this morning and now? I clicked on the "Watch It Now," "Hi-Res" link under the 10/26 episode section on the left. Worked fine for me. I watched it once. Once was enough. LOL

Am I the only sucker (:D ) for goofy stuff around here.Oh, I love goofy stuff. But on SV, I'd rather see the goofy stuff portrayed in a realistic way. For example, there were a lot of scenes in Onyx that I'd consider goofy - Lex's casual murder of the scientist and subsequent dialog with Chloe afterwards was over the top and borderline goofy, but it was done well. And I was on the edge of my seat through most of the episode. Rush was goofy. Clark on RedK can be VERY goofy, but DAMN, the guy's DANGEROUS too. That makes for a fun ride 'cause you buy into their alter egos. They're not laughable. In fact, you bite your nails wondering what's gonna happen next. I couldn't wait for that Lanapire clip to be over. LOL

But guys, I'm in this for the long hall. If they [bites tongue] wanted to make vampires part of every episode, I'd still watch it. Remember, the worst episode of SV is better than most of the dreck on the rest of television today.

I almost find it hard to sit through an hour of anything else on television without being totally bored to tears.

I know I'm a Smallville fan, but I think that this is one of the things that make it such a great show, its always jam packed with heaps of things happening. So how many in-jokes are too many? Take this Smallville (http://www.tvguide.com/redirect?type=&keyword=Smallville) episode which has some fun with new cast member James Marsters. It's about a sorority of vampires led by a blonde named — of course — Buffy (http://www.tvguide.com/redirect?type=&keyword=Buffy+the+Vampire+Slayer). Chloe, who's looking to cut her teeth at the Daily Planet, writes a story about the sorority, but the editor-in-chief (Carrie Fisher) isn't sure it'll fly. "Tall tales about slaying Buffy the vampire don't belong in the pages of a real newspaper," she tells her. — Nathaniel Hayes

Nobody else thinks this episode is going to be ****ing retarded?
Sure, there'll be plenty of eye-candy but I found myself yelling at the tv during the commercial:

"That is so ****ing stupid!"

I hope this doesnt turn out like one of those stupid witch eps.
This looks like the dumbest episode ever....if i didn't know what the whole show was about, i would never watch this.

Just a filler episode for holloween.

What are you talking about?

Robin, I do not think this is a filler episode, there is alot of Brainiac and Lex stuff going on encompassing the main story, so if you dont watch, you'll miss out.

And hmmm... this episode has potential. I'm digging the Night Stalker ish monolog approach (the OLD show - with Darren McGavin, that is!) from Chloe. Guess it IS all about context. There may be something redeeming about this episode yet LOL I'm intrigued!

Chloe has this "sex and the city" thing goin on with her laptop..."Chloe and the City". beheh.

This is a pretty provocative episode so far...there will be some unhappy parents I think, LOL.

But overall its a pretty fun episode so far. Im enjoying the Finn vs. Luthor talk.

Two probable references to Batman

Bruce Wayne's parents were murdered after they saw a Zorro film

And Lana's costume- a cat= Catwoman.

Don't know if they were trying for that though. But, great episode- which I was surprised about, at first I though "here we go again, but now witches become vampires" but this episode proved to be alot better. Better acted, better Lex and Clark (and now Fine) scenes. As well as some great references, such as why Supes wouldn't have a mask. Overall, fun episode with a great Chloe cameo. The ending shot was especially nice, climbing the Daily Planet and the "superhero" line.

Weakest episode of the season so far, loved the Lex/Brainiac stuff, Chloe at the Daily Planet and the narrative style, but the vampire story was kinda lame. Not bad for a freak of the weak episode though with the Lex/Brainiac stuff.

Aight, that was a good episode. Not the greatest in terms of show logic, but it was okay. I loved all the homages too. The writers outdid themselves. Project 1138 is SO obscure, but obviously chosen on purpose since Fisher was in this episode. Chloe working in the basement was also pretty obscure, and I probably wouldn't have thought much about it if it wasn't for her dry monologue. Hint: Mulder worked in the basement. The Buffy homages were sledgehammer obvious. Hello? LOL

And on a separate issue, I don't care what folks say, Welling is still a goddamn HOUSE. Look at that last scene with Clark and Lex. Jee-zus!!

There WERE quite a bit of superhero (and villain) character references in this episode. And I'm still rolling over the part where Welli... err... I mean Clark ;) said "I hate costumes." HAHAHAHA!! Nice! Wonder how many takes THAT took to get w/o people laughing both in front and behind the camera?

Some silly stuff, some HOT stuff, some Brainiac/Lex stuff.. and some really damn funny stuff. I really got a kick out of this episode. This may be sacrilege, but I have to say..I liked it more than Aqua.

So much to this ep..I need to rewatch it. Chloe's dorm room and the collegiate version of the Wall of Weird was a cute touch. Seeing Carrie Fisher was really nice, although her make-up in that opening scene was scarier than the vampires(!).

"Carlos" LOL... The lines about the cape and the mask were cracking me up! I loved him complaining about how the mask "slides around.."

OH! and the "whoooosh.." when he ran to Chloe's.. ROFL!

You know, I thought it was really nicely done how they weaved Fine and Lex into the story, then brought it around again for that final scene with Lex and Clark. Another infamous SV triangle.. Fine/Clark/Lex...and each of them suspicious of the other two. Awesome set-up.
This ep just seemed very well written. I guess Mr. Deknight knows his way around vampire stories. ;)

Oh.. and Pat, you can have Lois's stripper costume.. I want Lana's cat costume! Meeeow! I thought KK did a really nice job with what had to be an awkward role to play. Maybe they like going outside the norms once in a while though.

Chloe's narration didn't remind me so much of Sex and the City..but of Veronica Mars!

Speaking of Chloe... I'm really starting to love that girl. I was SO excited for her at the end when she got the job at the Daily Planet. And how cool is it for the show to finally let Chloe and Lana be girlfriends and not rivals? I love it.

Just remembered.. when Lana was kissing Clark's neck and sniffing him.. his expressions were KILLING. ME.

Oh.. and Pat, you can have Lois's stripper costume.. I want Lana's cat costume!Eh, I think the best part of that costume was her make-up. I like Lois' "costume" better. Shows more skin. :D

Hey, if ya got it, flaunt it, right?

Chloe's narration didn't remind me so much of Sex and the City..but of Veronica Mars! I never watched VM, but the first homage I thought they were going for was Kolchak (from the original series.) Then I thought more about it and Mulder fits in better. Mike had a good point with the SATC parallels though. That WAS very Carrie Bradshaw with the laptop on the bed. Chloe just wasn't talking about dysfunctional boyfriends and sex toys, that's all. ;)

Just remembered.. when Lana was kissing Clark's neck and sniffing him.. his expressions were KILLING. ME.I really liked what she said about him in the end. That gave me a big warm and fuzzy. Warm, loving heart, great strength - Very much Superman.

Oh, one other thing, I like how Chloe is *completely* over Clark now. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have tried to hide Lana from him at the party. I'm enjoying how Clark and Chloe work together as a team, and Clark and Lana are together romantically. There's no competition anymore, and both characters can have a personal report with Clark that's different from the other. That's awesome!

All of yall are laughing about it like it's some huge reference."THX-1138" was one of George Lucas' films. It was the license plate on Harrison Ford's character's car in "American Graffiti," and Lucas even put a line in "Star Wars" (New Hope) referring to it... "Prisoner transfer from Cell Block 1138."

oh ye of little faith...

Was it a great episode? No not at all.

Was it fun and did it intertwine the main plot with the great Lex/Fine subplot that we're going to see all season? Heck yeah

That "Project 1138" must be really obscure because I have no idea what the significance is, and I was pretty into Star Wars for a time?

That scene where Lana "unbroke" her neck and back, creep the hell out of anyone else?

No, no... I've seen all of them, and to me it was still much more Veronica Mars. Veronica narrates whatever "case" she happens to be working on that week..while she types it into her laptop journal too. I guess the reference could really apply to a lot of shows though.

I really liked what she said about him in the end. That gave me a big warm and fuzzy. Warm, loving heart, great strength - Very much Superman.
That was great. I also thought the things she said to him right before he stabbed her in the heart were interesting. Something about how she'll love him forever (foreshadowing?) and how they can't control their destinies.

The heart stab was great.. reminded me of Pulp Fiction. :)

One of these days I'll get around to capping it. It's SO freakin' obvious, I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned it. The stars all over Clark's room in the beginning of the episode was also quite revealing due to the parallels with Gabriel.

wow. Once again, A smallville episode that does NOT suck. That's like 5 in a row which has, imo, never happened before.

I was on the edge of my seat during the Braniac/Fine and Lex stuff. I can't wait to see where this all leads.

The vampire stuff was silly but it was fun and for once not so damn cringe-worthy. Plus hot chicks=boners:up:

I too spotted the 1138(i never thought it was really that obscure. I thought most all geeks have at LEAST heard of the film. i've never seen it but i'm well aware of it)joke and the buffy jokes(which were overdone at times).

Surprisingly, it wasnt bad. Sure the sorority girls were written in sterotypical fashion and Chloe VO was annoying, but everything else was decent....although I really hate how the moment someone finds out anything, magically they dont remember anything by the conclusion. Best part of the episode was Prof. Fine...and was anyone else shocked that he used the classic Brainiac tendrills? I figured he was gonna turn the guard into a drone instead of murder him....but then again, Lex never mentioned a missing bodyguard.

One thing I've been disappointed in with Aqua and now this episode, is they havn't followed up on some of the things in Hidden, like Clark worrying that he's made a terrible mistake and whatnot. Not to mention where's Lionel? Now that he's back to normal what the hell is he doing? Same thing with the Kents, it sorta feels like one of those teen flicks where it's like the parents never exist.

Pretty much got what I expected from this episode...

1. The vampire storyline would be hard to swallow
2. The vampire storyline would be boring (i.e. suck, no pun intended)
3. Carrie Fisher put some life into this episode
4. Marsters really saved this episode. (Fine-Luthor-Kent dialogues actually)

The only unexpected thing was the Chloe VO, which I didnt care for until the ending with her superhero reference and the "up up and away" that was pretty cool along with the daily planet shot.
