With NECA set to release the 2nd series of there awesome 'Cult Classics' toy line, what would you like to see made into a future 'Cult Classic'?

As a quick reminder, so far we've had...

Series 1
Patrick Bateman - American Psycho
Eric Draven - The Crow
Jason Voorhees - Friday The 13th: Part VII
Mohawk - Gremlins 2

Series 2
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Freddy - Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Frank The Bunny - Donnie Darko
The Tallman - Phantasm

Personally I would like to see the following in Series 3, or any other future series.

Michael Myers - Halloween
The Dummy (http://www.thegreenhead.com/entertainment/images/saw2-sm.jpg) - Saw
Shaun - Shaun Of The Dead
Paris Hilton (with pole through head) - House Of Wax. :D:up:

Since they made a Mohawk figure and Gremlins 2 was far from a horror flick, maybe we could get a Frankenfurter figure or some Clockwork Orange figures. What about Jack from The Shining? He could be swinging the axe at the door or be set up w/ his face through the door.

NECA just got the license for the orginal Dawn of the Dead and will be inserting figures into the Cult Classics line.
Zombie Stephen (aka "Fly Boy") will be in series 3 while the bald/scarred airport zombie will be in wave 4. also i think Bubba Ho-Tep will also be in series 3.
i think they are going to make an announcement for the line up at the Fall Toy Fair which is being held this week i think.

Somebody actually made some decent Reservoir Dogs figures a few years back. They were in a brochure in the 10th anniversary DVD. As far as Pulp Fiction goes, I've been waiting for realistic Pulp Fiction figures ever since I saw the movie. I'd kill for a Jules and Vincent boxset or Mia and Vincent dancing. That could be a huge series w/ variants or different versions of figures out the ass. Mutch and Marcellus tied up, the gimp and Zed, Vince and Mia (dancing and adrenaline shot), Jules and Vincent (clean, bloody, and "dork" attire), Jimmy, the Wolf......I could go on and on.:D

I'd like:

a Butch & Marcellus scene where they're both messed up from that wreck (well, Marcellus got hit with a car, Butch was in the wreck) and Butch is running away and and Marcellus is after him with gun blazing.

a Butch & Vincent scene where Butch has Vincents gun and is shooting him as he walked out the bathroom.

and a Jules & Vincent deluxe boxset with them in the car with the guy in the backseat and his head blown off and the insides of the car are all blood splattered.

Yeah, they don't look much like the actors. They should try again. Mezco did damn good with the movie Hellboy line.

I'm sure they could outdo these Res.Dog figs easily.

Bubba Ho-Tep
Zombie Flyboy
T-800 Endoskeleton
John McClaine

Ok I just googled Bubba Ho-Tep & I got some guy that looks like Elvis. Is that right?!? lol

The T-800 might be worth a look & the John McClaine will be interesting to see. I remember a few people wanted to see a figure of him before.

SOTA have the Saw licence? Well that sucks 'cos now it wont make it into the Cult Classics range but it's also good 'cos it means we're getting the figs made anyway.

From figures.com.....

Highlander, Dawn of the Dead, Seed of Chucky, and more…

With Cult Classics Series 1 in stores and Series 2 shipping now, film fans are eagerly anticipating the third series of NECA’s classic cult film figures.

Here at the Fall Toy Show 2005, NECA had prototypes of some of the figures in Cult Classics Series 3, which will include Flyboy Zombie from the original “Dawn of the Dead”, Bubba Ho-Tep Mummy from “Bubba Ho-Tep”, Endoskeleton from “Terminator 2” (with new, improved “chrome” paint application), and John McClane from Die Hard.

Cult Classics Series 3 will also included a Highlander boxed set, which will include both medieval Connor McCloud and the Kurgan.

Cult Classics Series 4 is tentatively slated to include Chucky from “Child’s Play”, Elvis (Bruce Campbell) from “Bubbo Ho-Tep”, Plaid Zombie from the original “Dawn of the Dead”, and a boxed set from ”Seed of Chucky” which will include Chucky, Tiffany, & Glen/Glenda.

NECA also mentioned the upcoming 12” Frank the Bunny figure from the film ”Donnie Darko”, an 18" John McClane w/ "R-Rated" voice chip, a possible re-release of the 18” T-800 Endoskeleton with an updated chrome paint application (thanks to fans’ responses), and a possible 18” Medieval Kurgan from Highlander. Check out the image gallery below for more photos of Cult Classics Series 3 and keep checking back for more news and information on future NECA figures.

Personally the Doom owns the other two. Thats just me. The throne, the goblet, man, thats just ridiculously awesome. I wish a Batman at his computer could be made as cool as that Doom on his throne.

Second would be the Masterworks Thing. The movie Thing is good, but the Masterworks one is a friggin' massive mofo.

----------------------------
Long time no Blog I know. This is the most hectic time of year for us as we are in high gear preparing many new prototypes for the International Toy Fair in February. We also have some really cool new figures leaving China and headed to store shelves in the coming weeks. First off, Cult Classics 3 is being manufactured now at a new factory. I am really happy with the results so far and I think you will be too. McClane, Flyboy, Bubba, and the Endo are going to please. We also have Pirates Series 2 shipping and the 12" Frank the Bunny. Expect updated images and details on the NECA site over the next 2 weeks. These figures should be available in your area in mid-late February.

To get back to Toy Fair 2006, without getting into too many specific details I will give you a brief rundown of some of the new lines you will see next month:
Pirates: Dead Man's Chest Series I and II, Cult Classics 4, Resident Evil 2, NBX 4 and 5, Iron Maiden 2, Various Music Related Figures, and a lot more.

We're also working on the 18" Figures and Boxed Set Lineups for 2006 as well. Toy Fair may offer a gimpse at the Seed of Chucky Boxed Set, Highlander, and part of Cult Classics 5. Who knows, there may even be some new license announcements too...

If you have not seen it yet pick up the latest issue of Lee's Toy Review for a Cult Classics 3 Cover Story with many new images and details along with a sneak peek of Cult Classics 4.
Yes Shaun (of the Dead) is the 4th character in Series 4 and he is awesome.

In addition to all of that we're also working on a brand new website which will launch this Spring (March - if we're lucky)

Sign me up for Big Lebowski figures too. And if only some cool Pulp Fiction ones were made.

I almost got those little lego looking figures that were Pulp Fiction characters but I don't know, they were kinda silly I guess. I like how McFarlane figures have been coming out, those Movie Maniacs and other lines. And these Cult Classics are solid looking too. I'd get a Crow figure if I ever see it.

So with NECA announcing the line ups for Series 4 & 5 not so long ago & quite a few of the ones we said we'd like to see actually making it into the line ups. Who would you like to see in Series 6 & beyond?
I'll once again list who we've already had, & who we've still got to come just incase anyone forgets...

Series 1
Patrick Bateman - American Psycho
Eric Draven - The Crow
Jason Voorhees - Friday The 13th: Part VII
Mohawk - Gremlins 2

Series 2
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Freddy - Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Frank The Bunny - Donnie Darko
The Tallman - Phantasm

Series 3
Bubba Ho-Tep - Bubba Ho-Tep
T-800 - Terminator 2: Judgement Day
John McClane - Die Hard
Flyboy Zombie - Dawn of the Dead

Series 4
Shaun - Shaun of the Dead (woooo!)
Plaid Zombie - Dawn of the Dead
Sebastian "The King" Haff - Bubba Ho-Tep
Chucky - Child's Play

Series 5
Hannibal Lecter - The Silence of the Lambs
Medieval Ash - The Army of Darkness
Jigsaw Killer & Puppet - Saw
Yet TBA 4th...

I would still like to see,

Michael Myers - Halloween
Paris Hilton (complete with pole through head) - House Of Wax

& also,

Edward - Edward Scissor Hands
Ghostface - Scream

Plus, now with NECA doing quite a few music based figures, I think it would be pretty cool if they did a Slipknot boxset or something.
Also, once the movie 'American McGee's Alice' is out, I'd be bouncing of the walls if NECA picked up the license of that. They'd be perfect for that kinda film too IMO.

What do they Mean by Medieval Ash? Is that Ash in his Medievil gear? Or bad Ash?

Anyone else notice how Neca is just a bunch of figured that McFarlane Already did?

Like alot of them anyway...Leatherface, Jason, Freddy, T-800, Ash...And Venom McFarlane did a Ghostface fig a long time back, you should see if you can find that one.

I've no idea WTF they mean by 'Medievil Ash' to be honest with you. I've not seen the movie & no pics have been released of the figure yet, just that it is in Series 5.

Personally I think NECA do a much better job at making figures than McFarlane. Well, when it comes to movie themed ones anyway.
I have both the McFarlane Crow & the NECA one & NECA's version beats it by a mile. Hands down a much better figure in every way...IMO anyway.
Which is why I'd like to see them tackle Ghostface, 'cos I'm sure they'd do a much better job with him too.

Roughneck
03-14-2006, 08:16 AM
The whole ghostface thing was dumb anyway. I mean if I was out killing people sure I would have a mask on. but a mask that allows for more visibility. It must have sucked ass looking through that thing. lot's of Blind Spots. And the robe. Why have a long ass robe with **** haning off if it. I would trip while running away. Or in a fight one could easil;y get tangled. Or the opponent coules definately use that against me.

Venom_uk
03-14-2006, 10:34 AM
I actually own a 'Scream' mask & it is horrible to see out of (& breath in for that matter). Talk about tunnel vision. & I think the killer(s) must have the same problem in the movie 'cos the gits are always falling over & spent half the time on the floor, scrambling about.
I think you're right about the robe part too. I think it would restrict movment & hinder you more than anything. Not the most practical design for a serial killer but one that looks f'in bad ass IMO.

Good news for Cult Classic fans! NECA plan on releasing a 'Hall Of Fame' series later in the year consisting of...

Jason - Friday the 13th Part 2
Eric Draven - The Crow
Pinhead - Hellraiser II: Hellbound
Freddy - Wes Cravens New Nightmare

All the figures in the series are from past boxsets & will have a few tweaks here & there to their sculpt or props, ect.

Also, NECA cofirm that series 6, 7 & 8 are all planned for next year.

Read the full news article (or in this case, blog) here (http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=21250005&blogID=135862358&MyToken=1f4bd7ca-869b-4bc2-bf4a-a2d2b95c47db).
