View Full Version : Chronicles of an Extra + Is George Foreman in X3??!

Found the following on the on the journal and blog of two X3 extras. No real spoilers still interesting to hear from there thoughts. By the looks of it they've been shooting on the huge Golden Gate Bridge/Alcatraz set in Burnaby. There is one VERY interesting unconfirmed revelation. According to dexshiran boxing legend and grill guru George Foreman will be making a cameo appearance in the movie as himself! I've pasted the X3 related bits.

From Dexhiran's journal:
09 October 2005 @ 09:42 pm

Officially, I'm unofficially in X-Men 3

Now, I can't say much about my involvement with X-Men 3, once again Fox has made me sign a 47 page waiver/legal form etc, etc. I can tell you that I'm getting paid $100ish for standing around for a couple hours on set this past Friday eve, then being shuttled back to holding where I ate, read, and was wrapped. I saw the set, yes, but never actually was used on it. I was USED, yes, but that's a different matter entirely. As for the set, all I can say about that topic is that it was outside, it was big, and there was a lot of green (as in screens).

That's really all I can say about it other than the A.D.'s think it's an amazing script and George Foreman is co-starring in it as himself.

For those DYING to know about X-Men 3 and what I've seen, you can fire me an email and I'll write you all the gory details in Iraqi . . . because I'd rather be imprisoned as a suspected terrorist than what Fox would do to me if they found out I was blabbing secrets . . . probably force me into doing a live version of American Dad . . .30 October 2005 @ 03:44 pm

Care Bear Countdown!

I was scheduled to be on Scary Movie 4 starting the 25th, then rescheduled to X3 starting the 27th, then rescheduled to Killer Instinct at 10:30 pm the previous night. The only good thing about being on Killer Instinct this time round, was that I got on a union voucher, meaning I will be receiving $20/hr with a minimum of 8 hours . . . that, and I was dressed as a Search and Rescue officer . . . yay!

In my delirium, I agreed to go back onto the set of Reunion which was filming at Lions Gate Studio . . . which changed to Smallville . . . then back to Reunion . . . My last time on the show was actually very enjoyable. This time, however, reminded me of uncomfortably sitting through Doom. Apparently, the producers shipped in a new director to get the production back on track, and the only way to get a production back on track is to hire a director who looks remarkably like Mike Bullard coupled with his award-winning, abusive personality. I've worked with a quietly cursing director before (Saving Milly) but this was my first experience with on-set verbal assault. It reminded me a lot of working at Movie Gallery when I wouldn't let a pack 14-year olds rent R-rated material . . . Anyway, it was a long shoot that started 5:00 pm on the 28th and ended 5:00 am-ish the next morning; even now, I am still tired.

Theoretically, I'm working a 5 day, all night-shoot stint on X3 tomorrow. Of course, the way things are going they'll probably shuffle those days around, too.03 November 2005 @ 10:25 pm

Paid $$$ to stay at home!

While I write this, I am being paid $5. As I slept this morning/afternoon, I was paid $30. For each Shatner that I take this eve, I will be garnered $2.50. Who in their right mind would pay me to wipe my Shatty ass? Why, the producers of X-Men 3, of course! Due to the current wind storm in Vancouver, they cancelled today's (err . . . tonight's) shoot and paid out $40 to each extra as cancellation pay. Considering I've been doing this for 1.5 years, now, this is the first time I've been paid to stay at home. Honestly, I wish it would have happened more often.

Theoretically, this is the 4th day of my night-shooting stint on X3, though have only been used on set twice. While it is nice to be paid for talking, playing cards, and eating their food I was more than glad when I finally made it to se, for I really did want to be used/seen in this movie.

In celebrity news, I exchanged pleasantries with Sir Ian on two occasions: once, when I noticed some old guy with a jacket labelled "Magneto" had wandered into the extras' dinner line, then shortly thereafte, whilst I enjoyed my food, he wandered through extras' holding. I find it strange that the only actors that have done this (socialize with the extras) are both top actors in their field and have BOTH been in Lord of the Rings with main parts.

I have been spending a good portion of my time, on set and in holding, with Danielle (whom I have added to my LJ friends list).

At this point, I would like to do two things:

1.) Apologize to Nox and Dani (whom I have only met three days ago) for any offence and/or uncomfortability that I might impart with the following enty, and,
2.) Demand an explanation from God as to why the **** he/she/it deems it necessary to introduce people into my life that are so eerily similar to Nox that it blows my sanity into atomic goo!!

Yes, I do realise I am attracted to punk/gothy-esque women, and any girl that shows intelligence and a passion for video games makes my jaw drop . . . but, seriously, KNOCK IT OFF! Their mannerisms and speech patterns were so freakishly alike I had to tell Dani to stop doing certain things and using certain expressions in my presence because of the Nox-stalgic factor. I've also been reaffirmed of the fact that I find problem ridden/vulnerable women as fodder for my overwhelming need to be the knight in shining armour . . .

Honestly, this situation has not been good for my emotional state; I'm already unhappily single, as it is, and all this has done is remind me about the only long-term relationship I've ever had. I've talked to Dani about the paradox I've found myself in and she agrees that even if she WAS interested in me beyond friendship (which she isn't) that it would be a self-destructive path chosen . . . it doesn't mean I'm any less attracted . . .

I'm partially glad that this has happened so close to my retirement from background performing and that I'll be moving away because I can see this nagging in the forefront of my mind for a while.

Unlike the contractual agreement I have signed with 20th Cent. Fox, I don't have a censor for the thoughts and feelings of my writing, nor do I particularly want one. I realise that both parties will inevitably read this post (mostly because there's only about 5 people that read this journal anyway) and, honestly, am ambivilent to that probability. All I'm really trying to convey (methinks) is my frustration over the fact that I miss having a life companion. That, and Irony has been pissing me off lately.

In other news, I think I'm going to pass out from exhaustion . . .04 November 2005 @ 10:27 pm

Maybe they should be giving flu shots to birds, too

So, Cat Woman must have had a tantrum 'cause I didn't work today on X3, again; it must not have been raining hard enough for their shots . . . or the entire set collapsed due to the Halle Storm that farted into Vancouver yesterday. I'm wondering if us extras will be paid for this day, too. Another random $40 of cancellation pay would make me pleased.Source: http://www.livejournal.com/users/dexshrian/

XMEN 3

So the producers are busy again in BC and this past Thursday, two friends of mine, Matt Kennedy and Sean Cairns, and myself took part as extras in the filming of XMEN 3 which was an interesting and new experience. I was one of about 200 extras that took part in the filming of the movie and it was a really fun experience in seeing how movies are all put together and how much work and time actually goes into rehearsing and filming the actual movie. We spent over twelve hours at the site (from 3 in the afternoon to 3:30 in the morning) and the first few hours were spent getting our costumes on and ready and then many hours were spent rehearsing and filming what was probably a minute or two worth of actual footage!! So much time was spent .... something that I had a hard time believing, but part of that was due to the fact that there was a lot happening within the scene and we could only film while it was dark outside. Overall, it was an incredible event, mostly because it was so new and different, but also cause it was fun and easy work! We were supposed to filming the following Friday and Saturday but were rained out as there was a storm that was supposed to blow in that weekend. Stay tuned to find out if I take part in any more filming....Source: http://steveandjoleen.blogspot.com/

I think that Foreman part was a joke. Let's not get lost in wild speculation and take it seriously..

The most usefull bit was "Scary Movie 4"...
One day I'll find that '47 page legal form' and burn it!

I agree, he must be mistaken. Doing something like that would make the whole thing reminiscent of Will and Grace with their random celebrity cameo appearances.

A boxing theme seems to have arisen what with Vinnie and now George. I am still amazed that Jones is in it. Did anyone see him in Gone in 60 Seconds? He only spoke once right at the end but man he was baaaaaad! More wooden than... there's a dirty joke there I know it.

Did you emphasize(bold/red) the line about George Foreman Retroman?
The paragraph following it he jokingly points out he won't be releasing any info.
Maybe he started joking with the Foreman part. Who is A.D. and how did he get the script to know whether it's any good? I doubt the script is available to anyone outside the core production staff. I would take that Foreman line and everything he said after it with a grain of salt. The first paragraph is probably real.

Grey_jeanie - I agree - he had a (marginally) larger part in Swordfish but was equally... umm.. <searches for a word I can use on here...> "bad" <gives up search>

A.D stands for 'Assistant Directors', with whom there is usually a few, and whose job it is to assist... the director.

Maybe Foreman is just selling grills at a mall or something when a fight breaks out. Kind of like that whole 'mundane, everyday commercial life gets interupted by crazy ass mutant hijinks' if he is in it I doubt it would be anything bigger than Stan Lee's Cameo in Spiderman 1.

Not really. I mean Macy Gray had a part in Spider-Man and I wouldn't say it made the franchise laughable.

Or perhaps its torture for a gay alien who releases the high security information knowing he cannot take another minute of watching a disgusting human woman being smothered with some sort of thin consistency dairy product.

Every so often I become extremely egotistical and see how my lowly self has affected the intestronet in the name of evil and, thusly, I found this thread . . . albeit quite dated.

I dare say I'm impressed. :wow:

Thus far, I have been extremely fortunate in my super-hero movie appearances and have remained pseudo-visible in all . . . of course I've only been in 2 (X3 and FF).

Now that being said, I've only seen X3 once (in theatres) and even THEN I could barely tell if I saw myself or not. :(

For those interested (or bored) I'd be seen on the left hand side of the Golden Gate Bridge on the pedestrian walkway (if there even is such a thing) running for shelter from the pouring November rain (thank you GNR ). I'm the first runner, followed by Dani, and then a bunch of other regular extras you'd see in such glorious mounds of tripe as Deadly Water and Dungeon Siege: The misadventures of a man named farmer.

*sigh* I see myself downloading X3 and FF so I can take screens and circle blurry segments to post . . . "Look! That's my elbow!!"

Valid point, and the main reason why I was quite thrilled about being able to work on the movie . . . finished product flaws aside.

I suppose the nice thing about extra work is that anyone has the ability to appear on screen. Casting and agencies look for "average" people, the type of individuals that blend into a crowd easily.

The nice thing about X3 was those people that DIDN'T blend that great into a crowd became a mutant (little people, mass piercings, tattoos, amputees, etc) thus allowing those not normally chosen to be in a feature film and the opportunity to become minor stars. :yay:

On a semi-related note: Last I heard FF2 and AVP2 were still casting in Vancouver (I haven't really been following along that much).

The reason I mention this is because getting into extra work is extremely easy. Agents are always looking for people and no one says that you have to do it as a career. Heck, the majority of extras do it in their spare time for something different to do and to meet people while getting paid to run around on set with big name celebrities like Charlie O'Connell, Leelee Sobieski, and Mathew Lillard!! . . .
