Nice thread! I love KK.. but it should be noted that the above pics from Nicodemus in the red lacy set isn't really KK but a body double.

I don't know why she used double for that scene, but I suspect she may have just been a bit shy about showing her body that much at that time. She was only 18 or 19 at the time, I think. She certainly has a cute enough body, and the right bra would compensate for any lack of, um.. Lanavage. :)

Seriously, it was like a Lana Lang Celeb Roast and Kristin's invite was lost in the mail. I thought I stumbled in K-site extended sub forum or something.

My Take: I'm not too sure how major of a film this is. I'm figuring it's an independent canadian film. But this early in her career it is kinda a moderate risk for Kristin.
Will she get stick for playing someone of a certain ethnic background when she isn't? Should they have casted an Indian or Pakistani girl instead?As far as features go.....she kinda pulls the look off. And I do stress kinda. I spoke to a Pakistani friend of mine and a lot of people especially from the kashmiri area are more light skin and have features similar to Kristin. So maybe it will work but she may get some stick.Then again I don't think it will be anything from her work on Smallville and Earthsea.
How will movie turn out? who knows, but even though on paper it looks interesting, a few critics and imdb viewers may slate it for being (in there minds) a sappy love story set around a period which really deserves it's own movie and historical relevance (the Indian-Pakistani conflict) and of course casting Mistri (a perdomently comic actor) and Kreuk may get some stick.

Steve Carell was on Western Australian radio station MIX FM this past week whilst in the country promoting "The 40 Year Old Virgin" and briefly touched upon a film adaptation of "Get Smart" he's been attached to. According to listener 'Pat', Carell says "He's bought up Kristin Kreuk's name from "Smallville" as a possible 99, because the new 99 is written younger. He apparently met with her recently (they talked about her Chinese heritage then). He also said he'll be doing a Bruce Almighty sequel".
October 13th 2005:
Carell also mentioned interest in Kreuk on some radio show in Australia, which officially makes him one of the coolest people in Hollywood. Kristin Kreuk? She's perfect. For anything. And if you don't think so, you're wrong. And ugly. With weird teeth. Sorry, I get petty and immature when I'm talking about scaringly perfect women

My Take: First round of applause to Mr. Carell for his comments above. Now on to other things. If the Partition is to be the small indie flick with a risky role, this could be the Box Office hit to further her name out there. Steve Carrell's is on the rise right now and justifiably so. 40-year old virgin was a big hit and his work on the Daily Show was fantastic. Plus, he deserves an emmy for his work on the US adaptation for the Office his portrayl of Micheal Scott is hilarious. Add to the fact that Mel Brooks is writing the film and you have to potential for a very funny film.
The only downside to this is well, Kristin. There maybe a few people who were fans of the old show and will grumble that Kreuk does not look the part of Barbara Feldon/Agent 99 and form her work Smallville will think she will be out of place. But again much like the Partition this is a chance for her to step up. *shrugs* I thought she was funny in Eurotrip so who knows

I'm a producer in Burbank, CA, and I have optioned the rights to a play. We are now developing the play into a screenplay so we can move ahead with production for the film version.

Kristin has agreed to play the female lead if we can get this film off the ground. If any here knows anyone who might like to invest approx. $50,000 for development funds (getting the screenplay written and covering lawyer fees), please let me know. Maybe this isn't a rumor after all?! James sent me this email explaining more about Careless Love and how Kristin became interested in it.

I approached Kristin's manager in Canada with the play that I optioned for its film rights (CARELESS LOVE), and a treatment for the proposed screenplay.

The play is a wonderful story of two people at the beginning of a relationship: Jack, a self-deprecating, soon-to-be successful actor in Chicago, and Martha, the young and less experienced actress/dancer he has made pregnant.

The intimate story follows the near-destitute Martha as she finds the courage to decide what should be done with her unplanned child and the rest of her life, and Jacks sudden rise to success amidst the pressure of an impending fatherhood. And all the while, Jack and Martha fall more in love. The story is warm and funny and at times tragic, but with a sense of hope and continuance. I strongly believe that it will translate into a beautiful and moving film.

Remarkably, her manager did read the play & treatment and forwarded these materials on to Kristin when she returned from India. She read the material and apparently really responded positively to it. So much so, that not only did I receive the letter of interest that I asked for, but Kristin is interested in co-producing, to help me raise funds for the film in Canada through their many government-run film finance programs.

We are going to pursue a few different leading men, Ryan Reynolds being one of them (he's Canadian as well), but we will likely need to wait until we have a screenplay in hand. This is why I submitted the posting... until I get the initial development funds for the writing of the screenplay, legal fees, etc., I can't move forward. I am seeking these funds locally but it occurred to me that her fan base might be a good place to spread the word. Thanks.
Take this info which ever way you like, believe it or not. Time will only tell how true this all is.

My Take:: Even though out of all the films rumoured to be starring Kirstin this seems the least likley because it's just a regular dude trying to get this film off the ground. With that said the storyline seemed kinda interesting. I'm gonna lie though, it probably would spark my intrest if I went to the cinema HOWEVER it could potentially star two of my favourites actors in Ryan Reynolds and Kristin Kreuk so we'll see. Who knows if this film will even come out? But if this is all true it cool to see those two lend support to the film. Fingers crossed hopefully this gets made.

Is Kristin Kreuk too good for iGene? Will Kristin's Smallville character be the one to be killed off in the 100th episode? Am I really reading something unpleasant about Kristin?!?!

I contacted Mr. Mortensen in late September 2005 about interviewing Kristin for iGene. He told me she was in India filming “Partition” and to get back to him in a few weeks so I did. Russ said to me in October, “if the topic is ‘Smallville’ she won’t do it.” I had no problem with that.

Then, I didn’t hear from Russ for a while. I tried contacting him again but not able to reach him. I tried a few times. Now it’s December, a few weeks before I drop off iGene to be published. Finally I reached him and Russ said he wasn’t trying to avoid me. I told him I didn't have much time. He told me Kristin was off on this particular day and he would contact her about setting up an interview between us.

It was still no “Smallville” questions that followed with, but not in Russ’ exact words, after five seasons, yada yada yada, like Kristin was bored with “Smallville” or it was so yesterday for her, and she would love to talk about India, the new movie and maybe she will open up to talking about her idea of (which was supposed to be off the record) putting together a young women’s magazine about growing up and things like that.
An hour later, Russ got back to me, told me that Kristin wasn’t feeling it, the book concept and that he tried because he was game all along for Kristin to be in my book. Is Kristin too good for iGene? Well, I wasn’t feeling her in “Legend Of Earthsea” or “Eurotrip” so I guess we’re even.

Since I haven't seen the 100th episode yet, we will see if my spidey senses were right.

Oh, and while they are at it, kill off Annette O’Toole’s character too. Why not? Kill the old Lana and the new Lana in the same episode.

I never had a problem with the actress. Lana yes, Kreuk no. LOL But to be adamant about *no* SV questions when SV is the show that put her on the map just bugs me. I understand those comments are all hearsay at the moment, but if they're true, then it sounds like she wants to disassociate herself as fast as possible for fear she might be typecast or something. Jeeze, even Welling gets hit upside the head with SV questions in every interview - even when he's trying to promote a different project like The Fog or CBtD - and he's always pretty cool about answering SV questions.

See interviewers have a way of asking questions that can sometimes put the interviewees in a spot and they blurt things out before they realise it.

I dont think KK is very apt at giving interviews. She either has a tendancy to take a long time to think about a pretty simple answer, or she's says something without really thinking about it.

Like her counterpart LL I dont think she's very good with lies.

I'm not by any means suggesting she's unintelligent. She just has this very honest appeal about her and when you're being interviewed you have to be cagey and quick to not always tell the truth. I think she finds that difficult.

To commemorate one of my favorite Star Trek episodes ever!:DI got mine from a ST con held at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston back in the mid 90's. Shatner AND Nimoy were there. It was AWESOME! I freelanced at various facilities in the Copley Connection for years, so I had a nice "in" when the ST cons rolled into town. What a great time that was.

My Take: I'm not too sure how major of a film this is. I'm figuring it's an independent canadian film. But this early in her career it is kinda a moderate risk for Kristin.
Will she get stick for playing someone of a certain ethnic background when she isn't? Should they have casted an Indian or Pakistani girl instead?As far as features go.....she kinda pulls the look off. And I do stress kinda. I spoke to a Pakistani friend of mine and a lot of people especially from the kashmiri area are more light skin and have features similar to Kristin. So maybe it will work but she may get some stick.Then again I don't think it will be anything from her work on Smallville and Earthsea.
How will movie turn out? who knows, but even though on paper it looks interesting, a few critics and imdb viewers may slate it for being (in there minds) a sappy love story set around a period which really deserves it's own movie and historical relevance (the Indian-Pakistani conflict) and of course casting Mistri (a perdomently comic actor) and Kreuk may get some stick.

With her blond flowing locks and pale skin, the goddess of love, Venus, is seen as the epitome of beauty, as depicted by generations of artists such as Botticelli.

But new research appears to turn this theory on its head. Scientists now believe that people of mixed race, particularly Eurasians, possess certain genetic advantages that lead to greater health and, as a result, increased attractiveness.

In the first study of its kind, Caucasians and Japanese people rated Eurasian faces as more attractive than faces of either race. Researchers developed a series of faces, ranging from those with exaggerated Caucasian features to those with exaggerated Japanese features. When Caucasian and Japanese volunteers looked at photographs of Caucasian, Japanese and Eurasian faces, both groups rated the Eurasian faces the most attractive and healthiest. People from other racial backgrounds will, of course, have their own preferred blends.

One researcher said the results proved that "our preferences are shaped by evolution". Humans would have encountered few individuals of mixed race when they first evolved. Only with the West's colonisation of Africa, the Americas and the Far East, as well as the trade links that were then established around the world, did different races mix more readily.

Evolutionary psychologists argue that the findings indicate not only individual preferences for physical beauty. They also suggest that Eurasians and other mixed race individuals appear healthier. In the search for a reproductive partner, humans look for markers of good genetic health.

Dr George Fieldman, a leading British psychology expert at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, said facial symmetry also played a part: "It is conceivable that mixed races are ironing out asymmetries and differences of the kind that may make you more attractive."

The number of mixed race people in Britain grew by 75 per cent during the 1990s. In the 2001 census, roughly 1.5 per cent of the population classed itself as of mixed race.
New research by British scientists also suggests that a link may exist between the gene diversity and beauty. Craig Roberts, a biologist at Liverpool University, conducted an experiment into the attractiveness of individuals and compared their "beauty" to the diversity of their major histocompatability complex (MHC) genes. MHC genes have a big impact on the strength of immune systems.

Dr Roberts found that photographs of people with a greater MHC diversity were seen as more attractive than those with less. He concluded that the perceptions of attractiveness are linked to the health of a potential mate.

Not only does the research by Gillian Rhodes, a psychologist at the University of Western Australia, raise interesting questions about beauty, it also undermines centuries-old arguments by the far right that a "pure" race is healthier.

The idea of racial purity as the highest form of perfection was taken to its extreme by Adolf Hitler, whose warped beliefs led to the death of six million Jews. Dr Fieldman said: "In-breeding is not great news. All that bollocks about blue blood is just nonsense. The Nazis were terrible scientists. At a biological level it was just nonsense."

This view is backed up by Randy Thornhill, an evolutionary psychologist at the University of New Mexico. Genetic diversity can decrease the chances of contracting disease, he said. "If you hybridise two genetically diverse populations - ie cross races - then you create more genetic diversity in the offspring."

But while science may be able to prove the attractiveness of mixed-race individuals, relationship experts said cultural barriers still remain when considering mixed race partnerships. Dr Petra Boynton, a lecturer in health services research at University College London, said: "In some ways it is more acceptable now than it was 50 years ago. But this is a lab-based piece of research and, well- meaning and liberal though it is, you only need to look outside the window to see it is not that simple."

The India-Pakistan storyline, the Hindu-Muslim relationship, Kreuk's casting, some may rip this just because it is a love story when it's set around an event that might deserve a better story.
I do think the trailer made it look more better than I thought it would turn out
I don't mind the movie, there was already a Bollywood production of the same story a few years back, supposedly it was based on a true story according to my dad, thought it was okay, I just hate the song and dance sequences in those though :down

I'm going to watch this just because KK is in it, I love her :)

Thanks for posting these, Lud. I've seen most, but not all. I didn't know KK has appeared on the Vickyk Gabereau show. It's interesting to hear what she has to say about the Rolling Stone article. I'd heard that she was really unhappy with it. That has to really suck - to feel so misquoted and misrepresented in a such a widespread magazine.
