In the episode Promise, Lana sees Clark break that wine cellar door off its hinges to save Chloe. Then she seems him disappear in an instant. This is from Lana's POV, basically what every human would see when they're watching Clark. We (the viewers) see him run off really fast in a red and blue blur. That's just to show that he's running. But from a human perspective, Clark disappearing in a flash is what we would really see.

Hopefully they will bump erica up with more episodes if the main cast is only 5, with zod and if the mason character are two separate characters to be season guest stars for like 5-9 episodes.

Erica in 17 episodes of season nine will be an ultimate win. I'm anxious to see what happens to her whether she's in the past or the future. That's pretty much the only thing from season eight's finale that got me hyped for season nine.

Yea though with lois i still say she went to 3009, since rokk pretty much made it clear that ring was set to an auto program time of 3009 since he wanted doomsday to be sent to them. But yea 17 episodes would be a good mix out of 22 episodes. In which they can sprinkle her gone every few episodes. like how she was gone for episode 6, 9 at the start of the season this yr and then second half maybe sprinkle her other out episodes after say every 2 episodes it would be a good pacing of lois in and lois out.

YEa i would love for her to be in all episodes but its likely she will miss just a few and hopefully she will get 17 this coming season. it was nice how she was in first 5, missed 6 and 9 at the start of the season. Sucks they had her be gone during episodes 11-14.

I think it's a case some just prefer when the show stays away from the drama, which is usually the case when Lois is on the screen, the show becomes more "fun" and light hearted. I just hope they don't Lanafy the relationship between Lois and Clark and fill it full of angst.

I think it was Matt on TVGuide a month or so ago said that Lois would be in the first 10 episodes, so if he was right then she won't be in 4 of the last 12.

Well if she isn't going to be in 4 of the last 12, i wouldn't mind if she misses 2 in a row right after that run of 10. I rather she be involved in the last 4-5 episodes(which means she would have to be written out of alot of episodes between 11-18)

My take on Lois being in 10 in a row is they using her to get renewed for S10

I think Robin Hood was filmed during the Lana arc. Looking at episodes not between 11-14 that they could have fit Lois into, the easiest would be Abyss(afterall her cousin was losing her memory). But beyond that you could have given her a small part in Turbulence(this would have fit the best of all post Lana episodes) or Beast. I also think there way ways you could write her into Injustice(ie use parts from Doomsday in Injustice)

I'm so thrilled that Erica will be in 18 episodes this upcoming season 9, she really deserves it. Last Season was by far her best year on the series as Lois Lane . Now this season not only does she finally take her rightful place as the leading Lady but she will also play a very pivotal role in Clark / Kal-EL's life towards becoming Superman . While continuing to build up her status @ the Daily Planet into the iconic top investigative reporter gal we all know and love .

Knowing what I know now, I wish they brought Lana back for episodes 1-5. Get her arc over with and let Clark move on with his life. It was so out of place where they put it last season. My guess is they wanted/had to prove to the CW that Lois could sell the show so they put her in alot of the first 10 episodes.

Given that I wasn't a big fan of Abyss, they could have at least brought Lana back that episode(do the Ollie/Lana storyline there, opening up 6-7 minutes to do stuff in Bride). I am of the opinion that Abyss lacked a b-plot.

Make no mistake I loved Erica as Lois Lane in every season she been in. Like with Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor I've really enjoyed watching the journey of Lois Lane on this series unfold from The Army Brat to Top Ace Reporter/ the true Love of Superman's life . Each episode foreshadowed her inevitable Future as the investigative reporter for the daily planet & relationship with Clark.

However IMO the reason I said Season 8 was by far the best. Is because we really saw Erica Durance as Lois Lane begin to become the Iconic Woman from the mythology both as a reporter & her relationship with Clark Kent as well as the start of the famous Classic Love triangle built for two [Lois/Superman\Clark] .

I'm looking forward to seeing these key elements unfold during season 9 in a much greater depth that will bring us one leap closer to the superman mythology .

So did I, Erica & Tom have a wonderful Onscreen Chemistry together . Those scenes of Lane & Kent @ the Planet were epic . It was as if you was reading a panel from the comic book in one moment and then literary they came straight out of the pages of the comic .

thats true their kal tom/erica do have great chemistry together just like tom has with allison too. Where as tom/kristin it was good some times, ok others, and terrible at best majority. I hope we get more good developments from her in season 9.

Its a damn shame we won't ever see her on the big screen as Lois.
Even though she is great on Smallville, she would have been perfect for a new Superman movie.

Anyways moving back on topic of this thread I love this season overview Summary description.

Writer Kelly Souders felt that if tabloid beginnings were good enough for Perry White—an additional character established in season three’s "Perry"—then they are good enough for Lois Lane. It adds depth to the character by showing how she struggled before becoming "the reporter we all know and love". As Lois steps closer to her ultimate destiny at the Daily Planet, the writers have continued to evolve the character by having her grow out of the "black and white" mindset and have her begin seeing shades of gray. The writers wanted the character to realize that there is sometimes a middle road that has to be taken.



In season eight, Durance sees Clark taking a job at the Daily Planet as a chance for her character to "step it up and be more involved". In this case, Lois is acting more mature, taking charge in being a mentor to Clark as he transitions into his new job. Durance describes the eighth season as a lesson in duality, with Clark realizing that he has to be two different people if he wants to have a life and save the day; Durance believes that the same applies to Lois. As Durance explains, "[Lois has] got her confidence as a journalist and on the inside, she's going oh my god I'm truly in love with [Clark], more in love than I've ever been with anyone."

Backstory : Former friend of Clark Kent from his days in Smallville : Kenny Braverman (http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Kenneth_Braverman_%28New_Earth%29) now the kryptonite supervillain known as Conduit discovers that the two Men he hate with a passion are one and the same Superman is Clark Kent . Clark returns as Superman and face off with Braverman for the final confrontation (In the end Conduit kills himself by supercharged himself with his Kryptonite until it "overloaded," burning him to a crisp. Even in his final moments, he still blamed Clark for everything that had happened to him in his life.) With the Kent house & farm destroyed and Clark unsure what to do next he joins his parents on a cross-country road trip in an R.V.

Meanwhile Lois who faked her death to throw Conduit off his hunt to ruin Clark's life by taking the love of his life away : Lois Lane . She's been trying to catch up to the Kent's R.V. for weeks and just missing them until Now .

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Don't get me wrong, I love Erica as much as the next guy (though probably not as much as Kal-El 8) but I thought the delivery of some of the dialog on the crashed train (before meeting) Corben was clunky. For some reason, the repetition of the "I'm low on..." lines were especially grating.

Also, I've noticed this on Smallville for a few years now, but a great drinking game would be to take a shot each time Lois (or any character for that matter) begins a sentence with "Look". I guarantee you'll get *****faced before the Remy Zero song kicks in!

What always bothers me is the short visits.

Superman can control the intensity of his super abilities . Whether it be using his super strength to punching through a reinforced steel plated wall to giving a nice firmed hand sake as Clark Kent to one of his co-workers @ The Daily Planet without hurting anyone in the process.

Obviously Clark's figured out how to control himself when he's around his loved ones . Example Lois punching him on the shoulder.

It just goes to show how important chemistry between actors is. Whilst I'm sure Tom and Kristin Kreuk got on great together, they definitely don't have the simmering tension that him and Erica have. Anytime I saw Clark/Lana on screen I knew there was major angst coming, whereas with Clark/Lois you're just waiting for a bit of lovin' to happen :D
I thought they had chemistry early on but grew stale after they dragged it out for so many years. I think people simply lost interst in them and there wasnt much to root for. Towards the end, especially they really felt forced wheras they had Lois around at the same time and they let things flow more naturally

The scenes in "Echo" with Erica & tom were golden , The onscreen chemistry between these two is truly magical. Tom has come a long way from since season 1. Last season was the start of Tom taken the necessary steps character wise from simple Farmboy Clark Kent to The Mild Mannered Reporter Clark Kent he is this season.

(Although to be accurate, this version of Clark as a reporter is more like STAS & L&C Dean Cain's version of Clark Kent where he's more of a gutsy, hard-boiled crime reporter who openly competes with Lois Lane for the Daily Planet's plum assignments. More so than Reeve's portrayal of the bumbling Mild Mannered Reporter .)

Erica's Lois is very much like STAS with L&C Teri Hatcher version of Lois .

(She's a savvy, stubborn, sly newswoman who doesn't suffer fools gladly. She's also a knockout, but you'd do well to resist telling her that. Lois wants to be appreciated solely for her brains and hard work. As a reporter she's a complete pro, never biasing her stories or slinging mud. Though she takes big (some might even say outrageous) risks while getting a story, they're always calculated.

She does not blunder stupidly into dangerous situations, she's well aware of the hazards before she goes in.)

I like it that way though, I don't think the Clark in this show could be the nerdy goofy Clark Kent, the glasses is as nerdy as i can see him get.

yea as cool as it would be to have a super muscluar superman like it is drawn in comics. It just doesnt end up looking that great in live action. Sure the actor should be big and buff but nothing overly huge.
