I've alway liked Erica a great deal as Lois.

Don't know what it was about Bosworth but great actress or not, it never really felt like she was evoking the character. Lacking abit of that certain something that an actor like Rosenbaum, Welling, Routh or Durance has brought along in their respective adaptions.

Agreed. Of the three women, Erica is the only one whose make-up has looked horrendous a few times. And it makes no sense since she's an exceptionally beautiful woman when they do it right - like in those two caps above.
Hopefully they've figured out that she doesn't need it caked on to look gorgeous.

Yep. The more cake, the worse it looks. She tends to look amazing in interviews but she has indeed had some VERY bad makeup days on-set.

Joke exception to above: Clark's bday & the blue cake. That wasn't that big and it still looked horrible.

No, I havent checked it out. I cant tell you just how much these conventions pain me. I think its some deep seeded memories from many years ago, when I worked for an Electronics company and we had a stand at the Home Show, where I was a demonstrator. It wasnt an especially good time in my life, but I was only 20. :O

I got to see Erica last year at the Wizard Con in Chicago last year. She is as pretty inperson..actually more in person than on TV. She is not short but she is tiny. And she was such a trooper in the auction, running around the audience holding up the pics. I can post if anyone is interested. I know that they are not current now with all the new photos.

I agree, the make-up looks great. And I see what you mean about her looking stretched, but I don't think that's it. Those are really low-slung jeans, and they tend to make the torso look elongated. Looking at her hipbones and imagine the pants coming up to that level, and the body doesn't look so stretched out.
Also, it's no secret that Erika's upper proportions are, um.. ample, making her tiny waist look even tinier.

I was there last year, and I remember having a good time. Enjoyed seeing Durance there as well, she was fun and seemed to have an endless amount of energy, especially since she came straight from the airport. Seeing her jump up and down was hysterical. She was also pretty compliant with her fans, signing autographs even while she was exiting Rosemont Center.

I do agree that Durance would have made a more convincing movie-Lois opposite Brandon [Routh] than Bosworth but I'm resolved to accept her as is. I'm simply glad that SV found Durance for her own (and surprisingly very near accurate version) of Lois Lane.

I found most of Durance's attempts to do emotional stuff cringeworthy at times. Its out of her comfort zone. The comedic, hard-nosed army brat stuff comes more natural to her when she acts.

Obviously she has potential, like anyone does, but the show is winding down towards the end soon regardless.. but maybe it will carry into her future roles; if she gets anything worthwhile after SV.

Agreed Nadia:word: The Lollie breakup scene is an example of "hitting it out of the park". It was such an intimate performance and more so because Erica plays Lois as the "pitbull on a pant leg" but when you see Lois vulnerable and hurt its even more meaningful. I also point to the hospital scene in ZOD between Clark and Lois. IMO, I was expecting a different back and forth between them and instead the way the scene was written and the actors were directed to deliver it showed that there was a new level in their relationship that "could" be there but they are both uncomfortable about it. Both actors did a great job at conveying more then mere words can say.

Some people have different tastes in acting etc as well but just because Erica is beautiful doesn't mean that she doesn't have talent. Kristin is an amazing actress too but her role as Lana requires a different touch in the emotional scenes because her character has many more years invested in the relationships on SV.

How about you guys taking a look at one of the recent guest stars on SV had to say about Erica Durance. PROTOTYPE was amazing! From Battlestar Gallactica, Tahmoh Penikett aka guest star Prototype WES. He has nothing but delightful things to say about Erica:

"Erica is fantastic!" he praises, "I was really impressed by her. I've always heard good things about her. not only is she gorgeous, but she's very talented. I really saw experience in her technique. She was amazing. She was just a happy person and had a ton of energy, which is always really important. You have long hours so you need that energy. You need to be professional, and amiable, and Erica was warm and very welcoming. She is a good old Alberta girl."

For three years she’s been playing TV’s latest incarnation of unstoppable journalist Lois Lane. We ask Erica Durance how it’s going.

NEARLY THREE YEARS ago, during the fourth season of Smallville, Erica Durance sat on a bench at a mall in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to chat up her new gig. She’d just been hired to play Lois Lane on several episodes on Smallville – possible more if it all worked out – and couldn’t have been any happier. No one bothered her as she sat and talked that particular day. And that’s because, frankly, no one recognized her. Her first episode, Crusade, had yet to air, and even though she hailed from Calgary and had mostly worked in Vancouver, she was still so fresh as to be unfamiliar to people walking through the mall.

Times, of course, have changed… at least a little. Three years of superb performances as Lois on Smallville, not to mention a sexy starring role in the film Butterfly Effect 2, will do that for a lady. “It’s still a really gentle process, maybe partially because I’m up in Vancouver [rather than in Lois Angeles],” Durance says. “Also, I’m in 13 episodes a season, not the 22. So the occasional person notices me or says they know me from the show or comments on it, but it’s nice because, for the most part, I can go about and live my life. And I look quite different when I’m running around the mall. I don’t do myself up at home and then go out. So a lot of times people think I look familiar, but they don’t really know where to place me. They think I’m a cousin or their best friend when they were younger.”

HMMM, A COUSIN? Well, that’d make some sense. After all, Lois is cousin to Chloe (Allison Mack) and it was Chloe’s apparent death a few seasons ago that prompted Lois to venture to Smallville in the first place. Since her arrival, Lois has had a knack for shaking things up with her actions, her snarky asides and her playful interaction with Clark (Tom Welling). She’s gotten politically involved, become friendly with the widowed Martha Kent (Annette O’Toole) and started to sniff out stories as one might expect the future ace reporter to do. More recently, she enjoyed a several-episode arc that saw her romancing Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley), better known as Green Arrow.

Durance pauses for a moment when asked if there have been any moments she considers defining for Lois in terms of the character’s evolution. “I can’t remember the specific episode, but I remember the scene,” the actress replies. “I was talking to Martha and she basically sat me down and said, ‘You’re good at this and you should be a writer. You should pursue this. It’s okay. Embrace that ability of yours. You’re good enough.’ I’ve had quite a few scenes with Annette’s character, and I think they’ve helped develop Lois. As an actor, every time that I’m with Annette, there’s usually something there about having Lois relax and just be herself. I love those scenes. There was also a scene in the episode Arrow, where she was investigating the Green Arrow and she was, of course, abducted and then interrogated, and they were drowning her and trying to get information out of her. I think that just brought up the fighter in Lois that says, ‘No, screw you. I’m going to do what I want to do. I’m here for a reason and I’m still going to write my story.’ I think that would be another important moment.”

IN SEASON SIX, Durance notes, Lois has continued to find herself. However, she’s also found herself in one mess after another. “It’s quite different, all the things I’m getting to do this season, as far as one episode I’m fighting someone, then I’m getting drowned and then I’m off with the girls,” Durance says. “So it’s quite fun, and then they always still sprinkle in those fun scenes with Lois and Clark. They’re keeping up with that banter, which I’m grateful for. I also think the whole thing with Oliver was good. Every time there’s a new character introduced, everyone on the show who comes in contact with them has some interaction with them. Oliver added a little something to the tension between Lois and Clark, and the writers enjoyed playing with that in scenes with Clark and Oliver and Lois and Clark. It was just a tiny bit of a triangle, but I think what was interesting for Lois was that she showed maybe a little bit of vulnerability in actually liking this guy. She usually doesn’t. And she gets her heart broken and has to go back to being a single gal, which she embraces. So I liked that she bounced back that way. But it was totally fun to play another side of the character.”

“Justin was very fun,” Durance continues. “He liked to tell a lot of jokes. That’s what’s special about this group of people that I work with. All in all, people get along. It’s a really professional, awesome environment, and you don’t always get that on a TV set. So it’s been good. And while he was here, Justin was definitely a part of that.”

Lois figured prominently in the Valentine’s Day-themed episode Crimson, in which a tube of red kryptonite-laced lipstick made Lois and Clark horny for each other and then sent Clark momentarily back into the longing for and pining about Lana (Kristin Kreuk). Durance skipped the next three episodes but returned for Promise, the 17th episode of the season. “I think I get to kick some butt in that one,” Durance says. “That’s what my producers said to me, so I’m excited. And I’ve heard Lois gets to do it in a totally new way.”

RATINGS HAVE BEEN strong and steady and the show attracts the right audience for The CW, so it was no surprise when it was renewed for a seventh year. Executive producer Al Gough has stated that he’s not even convinced it will be the show’s last. Durance, for her part, believes there’s plenty more of Lois’s story to tell. “I want Lois, next year, to be full-on into the journalism thing,” she says. “I know they have to be careful with that because she hasn’t quite made it into the whole Metropolis thing yet and he’s not Superman yet. But I want her to take that a little more seriously. Having a love interest is fin and I had fun with it, but I want her to go for the journalism and get into a lot more trouble that way. I’d love to do a lot more wire work and stunts too. But what I really hope is that they’ll make it darker and edgier for her, so that as an actress there’s more dialogue to chew on and more dramatic scenes to play. [I’d like to see the writers] still put in that Lois sass and occasionally have her do something neurotic, but I want her to really dig her teen into some stuff next year.”

Durance skipped the next three episodes but returned for Promise, the 17th episode of the season. “I think I get to kick some butt in that one,” Durance says. “That’s what my producers said to me, so I’m excited. And I’ve heard Lois gets to do it in a totally new way.”

(Personal Note: Writer was incorrect about Erica Durance’s return episode after Crimson. It was the 17th but the episode was called Combat, not Promise.)

RATINGS HAVE BEEN strong and steady and the show attracts the right audience for The CW, so it was no surprise when it was renewed for a seventh year. Executive producer Al Gough has stated that he’s not even convinced it will be the show’s last. Durance, for her part, believes there’s plenty more of Lois’s story to tell. “I want Lois, next year, to be full-on into the journalism thing,” she says. “I know they have to be careful with that because she hasn’t quite made it into the whole Metropolis thing yet and he’s not Superman yet. But I want her to take that a little more seriously. Having a love interest is fin and I had fun with it, but I want her to go for the journalism and get into a lot more trouble that way. I’d love to do a lot more wire work and stunts too. But what I really hope is that they’ll make it darker and edgier for her, so that as an actress there’s more dialogue to chew on and more dramatic scenes to play. [I’d like to see the writers] still put in that Lois sass and occasionally have her do something neurotic, but I want her to really dig her teen into some stuff next year.”

As I said early in this thread this phootshoot of Erica Durance in Maxim reminds me of Teri Hatcher's FMH "Dirty Laundry" phootshoot for Desperate Housewives.

Speaking about D.H. Teri won't be the only former Lois Lane to be on the series now Dana Delany(Superman : the animated Series) will be joining the cast this upcoming Season 4 .

Erica did a wonderful job last night, However Whoever does her make-up . Did a bad job, She didn't look very good like she usually does . I think erica should be alow to do her own make-up or the one in charge should learn to do a better job .

Lois & Clark are Investigating in the woods near Reeve Dam and finds Kara's space ship. Lois takes a picture with her cellphone and while Clark looks behind him, Kara Super speeds
up to Lois and punches her so hard she flies back and lands in front of
Clark. Clark looks at what just happened and sees Kara standing in front of
her ship. She says "That's what happens when you touch my stuff" and
crushes Lois' cellphone in her hand. Kara then super speeds towards Clark and
punches him in the chest, sending him flying through trees and brush,
maybe even into some parts of the wreckage from Reeve Dam. Kara tells Clark to take Lois his
girlfriend and never come back. Kara then flys off into the sky.
