Some guy (Wilhelm-Scream) at the movies boards had a great idea...

A trilogy I'd like to see would be three prequels to SW/ESB/ROTJ...in an alternate universe where Phantom Menace/AOTC/RotS never happened.

The Clone Wars would already be in progress, just like the war between the Empire and the Rebels was already in progress at the begining of Star Wars (I'm not gonna call it "A New Hope" )

The first would begin with the teen-aged Anakin Skywalker as Obi Wan's student. They would have a good relationship with hints of friction.

The second would be a full-on war film like Saving Private Ryan only in the GFFA. Obi Wan and Anakin would already be estranged and it would get worse until it built to the end where they would have the battle that would cripple and disfigure Anakin, who would be left for dead by Obi Wan. By the end the Emporer's plan would've been fulfilled, the "war" would've been "won", and the Empire would be established.

The third would be the hunt for the Jedi. It would show a "new" bad-ass, Darth Vader (named as such only after he was put into his armor/robot body) hunting down Jedi, the story of the fugitive Jedi trying to survive.

Almost all the Jedi would be defeated and somehow Yoda and Obi Wan would team up to sneak in to wherever and confront The Emporer and Darth Vader. This is where Obi Wan and Yoda would learn that Darth Vader was really a cyborg-Anakin.

The Emporer and Darth Vader would kick their asses and defeat them in such a way that they were certain that both were killed.

Then...STAR WARS.

No wasting time with Gungans, or "whoopee! Wizard!" little boy Anakin pod-racing or Qui Gon Jin. That way you'd have an entire 3 movies just to dwell on and develop Anakin and Obi Wan's relationship and Anakin's turn to the Darkside, so it wouldn't seem so preposterously rushed and forced.

This is EXACTLY how the prequel should have been, but look at what we got, the only "decent" one os ROTS, hell the Clone Wars cartoons are much much better, I mean come on :rolleyes:

MY THOUGHTS AND REVIEW OF X3


Spoilers ahead,I warned ya.

Well,I saw X3 yesterday and let me first say that I had one of the worst audiences. Ever. When the movie is starting and Magneto and Charles are meeting Jean as a little girl,this guy comes up and tries to find a seat behind me. He's being rude and loud,and asks some other guy if a seat is taken and then asks the for the man's name. It took him at least 30 minutes to shut up. And his stupid girlfriend made this annoying ''sssssssss'' sound whenever Storm lectured Wolverine. Ugh. :down

On to the film. I think X3 going in had alot to live up to. The script leaked waaay before we got a definite director,and then there's the curse of third movies in superhero series. And alot of people doubted Ratner,and I admit while I like most of his films I began to get worried when he said how he gets bored easily. I'm a big action fan but a director needs to know that there needs to be slowed down scenes in between. I was pleasantly surpised by Ratner's work in the film and I think I'd love to see him make X4 with an even bigger budget. His action sequences alone beat X1 and X2 by far,IMO. The bridge scene with Magneto and the Brotherhood had me in awe. Just amazing effects.

The main downfall of the movie was the pacing. As I mentioned earlier,Ratner is not as good at balancing action and drama. The only scene that kinda slowed down was Xavier's funeral. I think by adding more non action scenes,it only makes the action sequences better. And I kinda feel that Ratner felt that way and was trying to add more scenes into the film ( just an hour and 39 minutes?) but got turned down by Fox (Heh,wouldn't be the first time) and that's why I think there is much potential with Ratner. And even if this is a shortened version of what he intended,it's so much better than Singer has ever done. Ratner gets X-Men. Singer got Wolverine,and had side appearances with the other X-Men. I never wanted to see that. X2 was a good film,very damn good. But who centered around it? Wolverine needs to take a backseat,and let characters like Cyclops,Iceman,Colossus,Rogue,etc. shine.

And despite the fact that I HATE HATE HATE HATE how Cyclops was done,at least they left it open so that if they ever needed him,he can come back no problem. And of course I also hate how Wolverine (undeservingly) got Cyke's position in the films. But,the more I think about it,Wolverine was the only one that could've killed Jean at the end of X3. Cyclops could have never done it. If it hurt the first time,how would actually killing the woman he loves the second time be better for him? Still,seeing him come back at the end battle scene,even if it'd be corny and cliche,would have made me giddy.

On a brighter note,X3 was also the funniest Marvel movie. Juggernaut,oh my god,he had the entire crowd rolling. Yeah he was completely out of character with that accent and they didn't acknowledge he's Xavier's brother,but my god was he still awesome. His movements during his fight with Wolverine were pretty crappy,but his jokes and lines in the movie steal it for me. When he said,''You know who I am? I'm THE JUGGERNAUT b**tch'' my eyes were watering from laughing so hard. I heard he would've said it,but I didn't think they'd put it into the final film. Vinnie Jones was awesome. :up:

The other thing that bothered me was the randomness of all the characters. Why have Multiple Man (who is a good guy) even be in the Brotherhood when we only see him for like two scenes? And the Mystique losing her powers scene pissed me off. Magneto would NEVER,EVER,EVER abandon an ally like that,even if they became human. Magneto was never that ruthless. Psylocke and Callisto? Even worse. Callisto has no super speed and where were Psylocke's knives? And Phoenix shouldn't have even come into the mix. I think the plot with the cure alone would have been fine. Phoenix deserves it's own movie with no subplots IMO and they shouldn't have done it if Jean was going to just look creepy for most of the film. Angel,while cool,could've also used more scenes. Some of these characters I think were originally more developed by Ratner but cut out by Fox. Hopefully they'll explain it more on the DVD.

All in all,a good film. It has it's flaws,but most can be easily fixed if they're smart enough next time around. X3 blows Singer's movies out of the water,and while Wolverine is still overexposed to high hell,this movie is still the only one that's actually about X-MEN.

The only thing worse than the Wolverine Parts are the Iceman parts. Nightcrawler's kinda fun, but then you realize you only have 4 attack options, and then you put your fist to your head and release your claws.

Seriously, there was NO reason for this crap. For crap's sake--they coulda just copied X2-Wolverine's Revenge, and gave a simular combo style to each character, and it woulda been better than this.

Yeah. Some buddies at school found out I have XBL, and I didn't know they have XBL... well, they use 2 month trials over and over, but meh. So anyways they wanted to play a few rounds with me, and I sucked hardcore. Because they mostly used the battle rifle. But they made a sniper game and I sucked in that too. But that was like, three weeks ago. Now I'm like, mediocre but at least I have games where my accuracy/headshots/kills are the best out of all 8 players. :cool:
