Between the fact that D.O.A. is pretty tongue in cheek(DOA Volleyball, anyone?), and Cory Yeun is a fairly competent martial arts/action, I didn't see it being necessarily bad.

I can't belive how cheesy it looks and the acting looks appauling. I'm seeing an 3 million dollar opening weekend on it's way to about 9 million total. 2 weeks in theatres, tops.
Having said that and depending on what else is available that weekend, I might go see it. I happen to LIKE Streetfighter the movie and this looks well...not as good as Streetfighter but could maybe be cheesy fun regardless.:O

Honestly, that's not fair that the video game "Genre" (I know..it's not a real legit genre so bear with me) is getting stupid directors. I blame the studios.
It's ironic how Hollywood would go to the video game companies, and have a great partnership (Peter Jackson and King Kong), but when it's the other way around (Resident Evil, Alone in the Dark), it's the complete opposite.
And it's funny how the Resident Evil movies are more movie-like than the actual movies. What's up with that?

I liked the teaser to some extent, there's a few things that may not work at all (Ayane) but otherwise I like the CA take on it (check my avatar, duh ! ;)) it seems to me the most appropriate to the adaptation rather than straight fighting/tournament, it can't really work with so many girls. They can't be brutalized in a serious action movie.
Devon Oaki, well, I hate her but she looked almost cute as Kasumi there ; knowing that there will be an "hommage" to DOA Xtreme Beach Volley is great fun already. Maybe there'll be winks at Ninja Gaiden. Maybe the guys in the film will kick ass.
I'm all for mindless sexy fun and I hope it will be as pleasant and well-crafted as the CA films. :o

I mean, think about it, the game series this movie is based on has a spin-off game where the characters play beach volleyball in string bikinis!! (which appears to be part of the movie, as well. Score one for faithfulness to the source material!) They designers of that game created a physics engine JUST FOR THE MOVEMENT OF THEIR BREASTS!!! You can only expect so much from a film based on that kind of game!

Not really, seems kinda hacky. Let's justify hot garbage cause hot girls are in it. The Snakes on a Plane argument doesnt work with DOA cause SOAP was uniquely funny in a b-movie crap kinda way, DOA is just rent blockbuster fodder. i think this movie'll be good, goofy fun. i mean, it's straight to dvd, what are you expecting? plus, it has choreography by cory yuen (i think) ninjas, pai mai, and sarah carter in it.
and for people talking about SOAP, stop calling it "B movie fun"... it was obvious they were trying to make a real movie, there was nothing 'B' about it, except the crapy, Anaconda-worthy cgi snakes. it was just a mediocre movie that the dork fanboys latched onto because of it's ridiculous premise.

Genres are identified by scenes or structures. Snakes is a B movie, it's even being called that by everyone, they still make B movies normally they go straight to video (like this). If Samuel didnt sign on for or it had the buzz it did Pacfic Flight 121 would be in the bargain bucket at Blockbuster.

I just don't see the point of complaining about it for ages, and I dont see the point of seeing a movie that you think looks completely ****ty. I think it's kinda stupid.
