Well, lets start off with telling you a story:

I was in my nursing school when I got a call from my girlfriend. "I have to work late tonight, maybe till after midnight." She works at the local Wal-Mart Supercenter and something seemed fishy. I knew she wouldn't volunteer. Then at about one o'clock this morning she comes into my room and says, "I think you need to wake up!" I sat up and there was my Xbox 360! I started playing at about 2 a.m. and I'm having a blast!

Call of Duty 2 is so unbelievably awesome that I'm sacrificing sleep over it on an extreme level. I just hope I can stay awake in school tomorrow. I gotta be in classes from 8:25 a.m. till 9:30 p.m.

If you haven't gotten an Xbox 360, then I highly recommend that you do.

Well, I like GOOD World War 2 games a lot. Me and my brother hit up Battlefield 1942 nearly everytime I go over to his house. But don't worry, I'll give PDZ a try. I know this isn't a 360 question but I'll ask it anyways; is Perfect Dark worth getting for the N64 still?

And about the comment towards my girlfriend... thanks! :D Someone at her work said that if we should ever have problems that they would be happy to be a rebound. lol :)

As long as you're holding to the original Perfect Dark to reasonable standards, yes, it's still worth it. You can probably get a 64 and PD for about $20 together, which is smarter than spending that money on the WotW DVD or pretty much anything else. Best $20 you'll spend, probably.

I still got my N64. I try not to sell my systems unless the next-gen is backwards capable. So, I'll only have to spend $5 in the end because the local GameXchange doesn't charge all that much. Is it similar to Goldeneye?

Also, about CoD2, I just played through the first three levels and some of the buildups to certain events are just epic. You and your squad are suppose to get to the other side of town to where the germans have fortified themselves in a huge building, but there's quite a bit of open field between you and that base. The germans toss out smoke grenades (which the smoke looks fantastic), the music builds as your comrades are yelling "Here they come!" Then suddenly through the gray smoke come a league of Nazi scum! It's so great. Rather difficult though, even on easy.

See, I don't want that feeling so I try to hold out for the great WW2 games. The only ones that I get are those that score an average between 8-10. There's been too many mediocre WW2 games and I think they've just saturated the market too much. But, you won't regret getting CoD2 for either PC or 360.

There aren't any demos pre-loaded. When I tried to play them or the trailers it said I had to connect to Xbox Live to download them (demos and trailers). Sadly I don't have broadband where I live. But I did get to play some of the demos on the display 360 at Wal-Mart. CoD 2 and King Kong caught my attention the most.

I have to admit the 360 is pretty damn cool. Sure the graphics feel like more like an Xbox 1.5 than an Xbox 2 but the graphics will get better eventually. However I have to say the controller is the best improvement. Unlike the original, the 360 controller is extremely confortable in my hands. The games such as King Kong, Kameo, and CoD2 were awesome!

IF you use your credit card to purchase the item it has insurance from your credit card company. Many people do not realize that but they provide great insurance. Even if 8 months later the item breaks.

Use ebay and pay with paypal and use your credit card to pay through paypal. You will be covered.

Hey all!

Got a question about my Xbox360.

I found the way to take a picture from my computer and set it as my dashboard background, but I'm wondering if there's any way to set a different picture for each "blade" on the dashboard. The downloadable themes all have seperate pictures for each "blade", so there's got to be a way to do it with my own pictures, right?


If there is a way, and anyone can tell me how, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

This is what happens when you blow off everything ten times more important to be the FIRST get a system. Most people know NOT to buy a new system AT launch. There's always something wrong with the first batch, if you wait a month it's normaly fixed. Infact I think the ONLY company that hasn't had these issues is Nintendo.

It's like an econo version of the original Xbox controller in every aspect.

Well, I did and I didn't. I sort of implied it. But both the Xbox's controller and the 360's controller are perfect for FPS's in my opinion. With the shoulder buttons instead of the black and white buttons make the 360 controller all that much better. I don't think the boomerrang design of the PS3's controller will help Sony's situation even better.

For my money best controller to date is the PS2 Dual Shock controllers. Best layout of buttons, perfect size to grip. MS did a good job emulating that controller with their 2nd generation xbox controllers except the black and white buttons would have been better as another pair of shoulder buttons like the dual shock.

This is only the second post I've read of yours, and you already come off like an "I hate MS super corporate giant" fanboy.

How's this? My Xbox didn't give me a single problem for the 3.5 years I've owned it. My PS2 broke twice with some weird disk reading problem and crashing. The third time I threw it in the trash. N64 was my favorite over PS, but then I played gamecube at launch and decided that the controls were terrible.

Now comes X360. It over heats. Oh NOES!!! I HAVE TO PUT IT UP ON IT'S SIDE AND AVOID RESTRICTING AIRFLOW!!! It's got a problem. An avoidable problem that is expected with all gaming systems (unless your a fanboy who ignores his favorite systems problems) during the first stage of the launch. Get over your dumb ass "I hate American Corporations" attitude and try to focus on the gaming aspect of the system rather than the standard first shipment problems that are unavoidable on most systems.

They left the power supply out to save room rather than heating concerns or concerns about a replacement, but yeah, it does reduce the heat. If ps3 doesnt do the same, it'll be running even hotter, though I'm sure the reports of it melting down will be drowned out by all the other reports we'll be getting. Heh, I built a 120mm PC case fan into the back of my entertainment unit a few years ago to do the same thing. My xbox ans ps2 both keep cool and pretty much dust free :up:

Sony is probly gonna have the same problem with the PS3, but since they aren't rushing it out like MS i doubt it will be that serious. Maybe a few crashes here and there. The ps2 has some problems with not reading discs so no console escapes some bugs. Thats why you wait for the up-dated ones to comes out. Never get the first batch.;)

Sorry, after the disappointment that Halo 2 I promised myself I would never buy a game until the price drops. I cant stand knowing I could own this exact same game for like 40 bucks cheaper if I wait a few months. It's worked out well for me since the Canadian exchange rate rapes me daily. I shall soon be picking up Fable:TLC and NG:Black for cheaper than what Ninja gaiden cost when it orriginally came out. But if I see BIA at a good price I'll pick it up since once in a bluemoon I like to get my War game on.

Yeah, Japan will probaby favor Microsoft's competitors this time around as well, but not nearly to the degree that they did last gen. And keep in mind, xbox was in a solid 2nd place for a LONG time, even with japan virtually ignoring it completly, I doubt they even broke 500,000 units. Japan is barely relevant anymore.

No amount of time is going to prevent idiocy from ruining a product. On top of that, sony has a horrible track record, with just about everything, system reliability included. You're putting quotes around "suck at the internet", and yet I haven't said it. Funny, that. Almost as funny when you called a website that actually averages in garbage like yahoo games and 1up, half of those websites are jokes. The SpikeTV awards that were giving prizes to games yet to be released would have been a more credible source that gamerankings. As a matter of fact, I could go outside, piss in the snow to write "PDZ roolz!1!" and take a picture, post it, and still have about 4 times the credibility your sporting.

Call of Duty 2 is an experience to be played, not to be seen. What's been shown in the trailers and videos shows very little of the sheer havoc that the game contains. Believe me, I wasn't impressed with the launch line up for the 360 as well. I was going to wait till Feb., my birthday, so I could get Gears of War right away. But, as fate would have it, my girlfriend bought my X360 at launch and got me COD2. I plugged it in and couldn't stop playing. I've never been this engrossed into a WW2 shooter since Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. And that game cannot compare in anyway with this game. I bought King Kong, beat it in two days, then went back to COD2. I hadn't finished the game, but I wanted a "break." I enjoyed KK but it just wasn't on the level of COD2.

If you can, if you have the money, get Call of Duty 2. It's on the same caliber as the original Halo for the first Xbox in both single-player and multiplayer arenas.

Pacific Assault was a piece of crap.

The last good Medal of Honor game was Allied Assault on the PC. It was the best WW2 game for years for on any platform. The weapons animations, muzzle fire sound and other audio effects amaze me even to this day. The closest game that came to dethroning it was the first Call of Duty. I'll play Call of Duty 2 when my new upgraded PC with twin overclocked 7800GTX, an Athlon FX-57 and X-Fi Fatility is ready for deployment. Between this game and F.E.A.R, my speakers and sound card are going to get one hell of a workout.

Over the last few days we have discussed the Xbox 360 shortage extensively. We have told you that EB Games will not be caught up to pre-orders until the new year, that Future Shop has Xbox 360s left in expensive “bundles” and we have talked about how eBay sellers are making a killing online. Well there is another way of getting an Xbox 360 before Christmas, provided you are prepared to work for it.

Today while perusing through my local electronics store, I came upon a performance almost good enough for the big screen. A woman was standing in the middle of the electronics section, growing increasing agitated to the point where she actually started crying. At first I couldn’t tell what she was gong on about, but then I realized the source of the drama.

The woman had come to the store wanting to purchase a new Xbox 360 as a gift for her kid. But of course, the pace was sold out days ago. Instead of accepting defeat and leafing, the lady told the electronics employee that she wanted the one on display. In a calm voice he explained to her that the display console was not for sale. That’s about when the “water works” started. I’m not just talking simple sobs; no, this lady was balling her eyes out and crying like a new born.

After about 5 minutes of this, and the inevitable involvement of the store manager, the display was unlocked and the Xbox was carefully put back into a box and given to the devoted mother.

What can we learn from this? Hissy fits work. So if you have exhausted all other possibilities and you still want your new Xbox 360, then we suggest you go to your local retailer and unleash a hissy fit like the world has never seen. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll get an Xbox.360.

40,000 Xbox 360s Sold on eBay

According to eBay president and CEO Meg Whitman, a staggering 40,000 Xbox 360 consoles have been sold on eBay.
ImageAs reported by Dow Jones last night based upon a presentation at the CSFB Annual Technology Conference, the 40,000 unit figure has left pundits flabbergasted. If launch supply estimates from American Technology Research are accurate, that would mean that 10% of all Xbox 360 consoles sold in the US were either sold or resold through eBay.

Exactly what's to be done about the reselling and marking up (or as some rumors would have it, the direct sale of units from some unscrupulous retailers and/or distributors) is completely unknown. Microsoft certainly can't take action against resales and tracking diverted goods from legitimate channels is difficult at best.

It's probably fair to say that eBay will continue to be a channel that's exploited by people at every hardware launch. About the only solution is to provide so much stock at launch that the opportunities for markup are fairly slim (and we all know that's never going to happen).

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A Chicago man who bought Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) new Xbox 360 has sued the world's largest software maker, saying the new video game console has a design flaw that causes it to overheat and freeze up.

The proposed class action claims that in Microsoft's bid to gain share in the $25 billion global video game market, the company was so intent on releasing the Xbox 360 before competing next-generation machines from Sony Corp. (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research) and Nintendo Co Ltd. (7974.OS: Quote, Profile, Research) that it sold a "defectively designed" product.

Robert Byers, who brought the suit, said the power supply and central processing unit in the Xbox 360 overheat, affecting heat-sensitive chips and causing the console to lock up.

Complaints about the problem surfaced quickly on gaming enthusiast Web sites after the Xbox 360 debuted on November 22.

Console owners reported that some systems had crashed during regular use as well as during online game play using the Xbox Live service. Problems included screens going black and the appearance of a variety of error messages.

At the time, a Microsoft spokeswoman told Reuters: "We have received a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected."

She declined to say how many reports Microsoft had received and said that calls reporting the issue to the company represented a "very, very small fraction" of units sold.

The lawsuit, filed on Friday in federal court in Illinois, seeks unspecified damages and litigation-related expenses, as well as the replacement or recall of Xbox 360 game consoles.

Microsoft representatives were not immediately available for comment on Monday.

Pretty much every stsem is going to have freezing issues on some units right?

Since the PS2 has come out I have owned 2 and had maybe half a dozen problems with that freezing over the last 4 years. I got an xbox from someone 5 months ago or so and it freezes up on a regular basis.

How the hell do you guys use your systems anyway?
I've had my ps2 for God knows how long and I've never had a single problem with it.
Same goes for my Xbox (a bit younger, but still)

I went through 2 PS2s in 5 months and thats when I turned my face away.

My first Xbox lasted for a year, but then I decided to use it as a TV stand and it died in 2 weeks :o. Got another one and its fine.

Gamecube has never had any problems for me.

I got the N64, Gamecube, and now the 360 on launch day and have never had a single technical problem.

I think the people that aren't "experts" like we are on here are the ones more apt to complain about problems that can be easily remedied, if any.

I got the Dreamcast on launch day, put it away when PS2 and the others came out. Waited a few years. Dusted it off and plugged it in and still acts like it was brand new.

A friend of mine went through 5 PS2's. I went through one.

Never had a problem with my Gamecube or Xbox. And have yet to encounter anything bizarre about the 360.

I went through 2 PS2's and I get disk errors all the time on the one I currently have... I've had the problem for about a year, but I rarely play it so I haven't bothered to return it. Never had a problem with Xbox or Gamecube.
