yes, that's what I saw at Borders.
Anyway, the movie I love almost fanatically is Predator 2.
I've seen it probably over 30 times and even transcribed the dialogue by hand.
One of the most entertaining movies ever and I'm at a complete loss as to why it seems to be universally reviled.
Danny Glover - Amazing
Bill Paxton - CLASSIC performance
Maria Conchita Alonso - Hot!
Gary Busey - Amazing
Gore and violence - perfect
Music - Awesome
Ending - Mind-blowingly cool

I liked "Predator 2".....it's just the director that's pretty disliked. They were having a "live" TV interview with Reuben Blades during the filming...and the director came up, ripped the microphone off of him while cursing, and screamed for everyone to get back to work. That's not the kind of "free" publicity you want.

Nice Guys Sleep Alone.
Crow: Salvation -- it was OK. In my collection at least.
There's really no movie out there you can't say "others don't like" about.
But I can respond to the gist of it, I think, I just think it would be helpful if you'd be more clear.
Largely-Critically-unsuccessful movies I like:
Lords of Dogtown (52 % on Rottentomatoes)
Summer of Sam (50 % on Rottentomatoes)
Not Another Teen Movie (28% on Rottentomatoes)
Movies that relatively few people saw that I really like:
Bully
Better Luck Tomorrow
Igby Goes Down
Cellular
more to come for each category.

I pulled out some old vhs tapes when i was home and found the basket case trilogy. It was a horror type cult classic. The first one tries to be scary although the monster looks lame (it was made in 84) but the second and third one seem to have ridiculus stuff but at least the monsters in them look better. Good to check out if you haven't seem them. If you like it, then check out Ghoulies 2 and 3 which is similar.

Super Mario Bros. MOvie - No matter what you want to think about it's accurate portrayal of that weird videogame, the movie got a lot of things right and is a good introduction to a possible franchise that we'll never see happen. What did people expect? When I see lists of worst videogame movies this always gets pissed on on the same level as that piece of **** streetfighter movie. No way is this as bad as that crap. They went all out in this movie, gave us the whole trapped princess thing, the mario bros needing to save her. It's all there.... I just can't see what's so wrong with this movie.
HULK - I left the theater completely stunned! But when I got home and booted up the internet to find it being crapped on by everyone, I was just shocked. Hello!!!!! Has anyone seen elektra, catwoman, batman sequels, punisher movies. We got so lucky to get this good a movie, that it really shows how ruthlessly ungrateful people can be on the net. Oh nOOOO!! they changed a few things. WHAT COMICBOOK MOVIE HASN'T. <-- goddam, it's like all you internet mother****ers singled out this movie to pick on for the stupidest reasons. I hate all of you who do not like it for those stupid reasons.

I thought Hulk was terrible for a few reasons
Hulk looked too goofy and cartoonish. The movie was pretty boring.

And here I thought I was the only person to ever see Only The Strong. It's a classic. "But Mr. Stevens, I thought we were gonna learn howta KICK AAAASS!"
Another for me: The Phantom Of The Opera. Everyone hated it but Emmy Rossum was the most angelic woman I've seen in a musical movie. I think too many people compared it to the stage version instead of appreciating what it was.
Oh and Twister. I don't know what it is, but I can't help but watch it EVERYTIME I see it on Tv. It's probably my most watched movie.

Movies that I like that everyone around here (or in the imdb boards) seems to hate:
-Tim Burton's "Batman" movies. When "Batman Begins" came out everyone started praising that movie and denigrating Burton's movies, but I'm pretty much the only one that prefers Burton's version of the story (which, IN MY OPINION, was actually truer to the comic books)
-"Last Action Hero". It's mindless, campy fun.
-"Wild Wild West". It's not Shakespeare, but I like it.
-"Daredevil". I don't know what people have against this movie. On the other hand, I hate "Elektra".
-"Star Wars: Episode II and III". if you ask me, they are still better than "Episode I".
-"Moonwalker". I'm the only one who sees Michael Jackson as a great singer/composer and an icon of the '80s, and NOT just a child rapist.
-"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "The Mask". I'm actually the only one here who prefers the fun, zany movie/cartoon version to the awful, violent comic book version
-"The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolutions". Despite their flaws, they are still good.
-"Hulk".It's very deep and meaningful (unlike most superhero movies).
-"Village of the Giants". If you payed me enough attention, you'll know why.;)

-"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". It may not be like the comic book, but I like it.
-"Judge Dredd". I seriously don't see what's wrong with this movie (ooooh, they showed Dredd's face, big deal).
-"Escape from L.A.". It was stupid, but still enjoyable and a worthy sequel to "Escape from New York".
-"Gremlins 2: The New Batch". The one movie that I liked so much, I watched it 820 times.
-"Batman Forever". It was actually pretty deep and dark when you compare it to "Batman & Robin".
-"Ghostbusters 2". It was nice and funny. They had Slimer lopunge around in the fire house to follow the continuty established in the animated series, and it was very good to see the "negative slime" defeated by the good feelings of the people of New York.
-"Spy Kids". The first one was actually good, the sequels were crap.
-"Fantastic Four". They messed up Dr. Doom pretty badly, but it was still good.

Starman
This brilliant movie stars Jeff Bridges, Karen Allen, and Charles Martin Smith.
The movie is one of John Carpenters most underrated classics. Anytime I mention the movie people either haven't heard of it, avoid it, or just flat out ignore how good of a film it truly is. Never in my wildest dreams had I pictured John Carpenter directing a science fiction/love story movie.
The movie is filmed really well, the music is flat out amazing and touching, and the ending of the movie is by far the most moving and emotional segments in cinema history.
I rank the ending in the tears department with Iron Giant, Edward Scissorhands, Ghost, and Terms of Endearment.

Movies I love that most hate.
The Jeepers Creepers movies.
The first is a perfect blend of a human serial killer movie and a supernatural creature movie. Most complain about the fact that the killer was a creature instead a regular psychopath when a.)that was all over the promotion to begin with b.)that's what makes it unique rather than a generic rehash.
On top of that; Gina Philips plays about the best female lead heroine I've ever seen in a horror movie, her and Justin Long have great brother/sister chemistry that makes them very likeable; hence making me care when the horror hits them more than I ever have for the victims in a genre film; the score is a prime example of what horror scores should be all about, eerie sound effects mixed in with powerful orchestral cues that works beautifully for subtle suspense as well as intense chase/action sequences, as well as moving emotional themes for the victims; a very rural, isolated atmosphere that's shot beautifully; and my favorite final shot from any movie that spits right in the face of the good guys have to win bad guys have to lose just because it's the rule cliche that most movies unfortunately feel obligated to follow.
The sequel is the perfect action/horror film, blending my two favorite genres. This film does precisely what a sequel should do, it shifts the style and tone, putting The Creeper's supernatural prowess which was only hinted at in the first film on full display, while maintaining the genuine human emotion. It has artistic cinematography that adds to the villains presence; the score, which was great in the first one, is significantly more powerful, and along with the cinematography and near perfect use of practical and CGI effects blended so seamlessly they're barely distinguishable, it gives the film a more big, epic feel than alot of films that cost well over $100 million despite only having a $17 million budget. Ray Wise plays the best vengeance figure I've ever seen in a horror film, and the opening sequence couldn't have set up his rivalry with the villain any more effectively. A prime example of how effectively it works is when they meet up again about 70 minutes into the film, the first time they've seen one another since The Creeper killed his son, and the two people with him stare in awe at the unearthly beast in front of them while Taggart stares him down exactly the same way he would if he were looking at a regular person. He doesn't see a supernatural powerhouse, all he sees is the piece of **** that killed son. That shot alone is more epic and climactic than anything in the vast majority of big budget Hollywood blockbusters.
A Movie I love that I don't think most have seen/know about.
Malena.
This movie shows exactly how much harm can come from the unfair labeling and oppression women have put up with since the beginning of time, specifically regarding the double standard that pertains to sexuality. Monica Bellucci gives a very subtle, but extremely effective performance, conveying the heartbreak, lonliness, and constant discomfort people in this position have to endure with little dialogue through facial expressions and mannerisms. It's also a great coming of age story showing the growth into maturity that her young male admirer goes through as he sees what she was to put up with throughout the movie, and the strength it takes to even be able to carry on your life like that, as well as an excellent satire on the way people tend to overreact to anything pertaining to sexuality. Ennie Morricone's score is gorgeous, as is the cinematography(lighting in particular), and the Italian setting. This film is funny, heartbreaking, and uplifting. Easily one of my favorite foreign films.

The thread isn't talking about "crappy" movies, it's talking about unpopular movies that you think are good/great, there's a big difference unpopular and crappy.
And yes, there's a difference between movies you like that others don't, and movies that you like that most others don't know about, the thread is asking about both, it's not saying that they're the same thing.

i've always loved this movie called Rustlers' Rhapsody, starring Tom Berenger, Patrick Wayne (John Wayne's son), Marilu Henner, and Andy Griffith... it's a hilarious western spoof made in 1985, and Andy Griffith is the Matlock-aged main villain... it just doesn't get much funnier, IMO... but most folks i know have never even heard of it, much less seen it! :venom:
