Physically, he seems to be good. Though it may take a while to accept him as Blade since Wesley Snipes has been it for so long (only three movies but it's still been for a while)

That's not neccesarily a character pic but then again...it could be. If they're silver spikes any vamp who punches him will vaporize.

Celebrity boxing did monster rating numbers a few years ago. It now appears a proposed Joe Rogan vs Wesley Snipes fight could do the same.

There was buzz of this rumor on several forums today and MMAWeekly.com has had this confirmed in the past hour. MMAWeekly Radio Host Frank Trigg talked briefly with Joe Rogan this afternoon to see if there was any truth to the rumor.

"It's 100% true..." Rogan told Trigg via the telephone. "I want the fight and now it's up to Wesley Snipes to accept." Snipes is a black belt in tae kwon doe and has trained in martial arts for years studying Karate, Kung Fu and Capoeira.

Rogan was a four-time state Tae kwon do champion before pursuing a career in show business. Rogan earned a black belt at 15 after just two years of training. At 19 he won the US Open Tae Kwon Do Championship, and later as a lightweight champion went on to beat both the middle and heavyweight title-holders to obtain the Grand Championship.Rogan also trains regularly with submission specialist Eddie Bravo.

Rogan said on the Underground Forum earlier in the day quote "As for Snipes motivation to fight, he wants to rejuvenate his action movie career..." Other motivation for Snipes is the fact that he owes millions of dollars in back taxes. Snipes hasn't had any new movie offers and needs to pay back taxes and hopes this kind of fight could re-launch his career.

If you ask how they can afford to pay celebrities to fight, one of the possibilities that is out there is to give the Celebes a small percentage of the deal from the actual pay per view. Rogan would not comment how much money was offered to him for the potential fight.

OK the 2 endings have got me pissed slightly. In one there are no Vampires left in another there are no Vampires left and Blade wakes in blood lust. So what alterations are they doing.

I must be one of the few who are gutted that Abby, King or Dr. Karen Jenson are in it. They became part of the universe the bio weapons Karen could have created. Their characters could have been greatly developed here.

Maybe he shaves his head now that Whistler is dead. Maybe Whistler used to cut his hair. It was kind of cool but at the same time ridiculous to think Blade would walk into a hair salon with his sword and leather on and sit down in the chair to get his hair all juiced up. Not everyone keeps the same hairstyle over 15 years.

As far as the character, does the show even take place in the movie's storyline? Trinity left Blade in a semi-hibernation as the new harbinger of the apocalypse. Why would he come back out again?

New pic is alright. From the small pic it looks like his gun or some type of weapon is stuck to his vest. His vest looks really cluttered as well. I liked in the movies the only weapon you really saw was his sword the rest were pretty much conceled by his trench coat.

I agree with the other person in another thread that they should of at least kept the facial hair. Anyway I hope the show is good.

But Wesley Snipes is Blade plain and simple, and considering the fact this is taking place after Trinity it's going to be painful for me to watch someone stealing all of Wesleys trademark Blade moves, passing them on for his own. Like someone else said, why are a lot of scenes taking place during the day? Anyway, it looks like it might be a cool show. Kirk Jones doesn't even look like his usual self. He looks just like Blade. I just hope he doesn't look silly fighting and I hope the effects doesn't look cheap looking. The effects on the new Battlestar Galactica show look about as good as big-screen movie effects so I hope the Blade series effects look something like that.

To everyone complaining about the hair, on the Tim Bradstreet BLADE covers, he's bald and it looks pretty good.

I'd worry more about the script and whether or not this show will make it past 3 episodes. Here's hoping.

I personally find the fact that it's set AFTER Trinity to be a slap in the face to one of the cool parts of that film: Blade essentially taking over for Dracula as the vampire boogeyman.

It takes that nice, clean ending to the trilogy and makes it null and void. Not cool.

This show is a joke, but you know, there were some cool scenes with the car and the bike, and the fight in the hallway, but EVERYTHING else to include the chick is a complete JOKE!!!

And wait until you HEAR BLADE'S VOICE...that was the stake in the coffin. High pitched and fake, like he was doing some kind of comedy, which is what this is, a DIVINE COMEDY (TRAGEDY).

The acting is really bad...and 80% of the visual shots are really low budget material, even for TV. Even ST: Enterprise and Stargate Atlantis has better CGI than this crap.

I was right, this looks like something that CASPER VAN DEAN would have done. BARF!!!

They didn't even use the same cool ass sword that Blad had in the trilogy (though III was different than II and I) but the hilt on this sword is very different looking. Damn...I had such high hopes! Where are you Wesley! We need you man!!!

I saw the trailer and was very disapointed in almost everything. Sticky's performance, the action scenes, I just don't like it. I give it 2 seasons because enough people will give it a chance and then it will fizzle out.

If you're comparing it strictly to the films.

As far as a TV show, it looks like it can have some potential. The certain-to-be-reduced violence paves the way for some more depth as far as the "vampire politics" that could make this show a little meatier, and the action and gunplay look substantial enough.

I'm sure it won't be nearly the caliber of the Trilogy, but it looks like a fun ****-blows-up show, which is lacking on TV as of late.

As far as the "recycled lines," you also have to take into account that the show has to go in with the attitude that its potential audience hasn't necessarily seen the Blade flicks. The lines sum up Blade's attitude perfectly, especially when faced with a new "this can't be happening!" female foil to take under his wing.

I say judge it when it comes out.

I'm guardedly optimistic. I think Kirk Jones needs to do his own thing and not try to copy Wesley, because Wesley is iconic. But I think Kirk can do things with Blade, take the character in other directions than Wesley did, and make the character his own to some extent. Though he will never take over the character like Sarah M. Gellar did with Buffy.

The FX/visuals did look a bit cheap. It is TV, but The Shield, Alias, 24, Nip/Tuck, CSI, BSG etc. have more of a cinematic quality to them and they are on network or basic cable as well. I wish that Showtime, HBO, FX or USA had gotten this series instead of Spike.

My major concern is that the new female character-Krista will become the de facto star of the show and get all of the character development and lines and Blade will become the muscle. Granted, the Krista character needs time to get established, but hopefully not at the expense of Blade.

The Blade movies also introduced some cool villians-Frost, Nomak, Damaskinos, even Drake and I wonder if the TV series can keep that going, especially with the lowered budget.

I also think the TV show could benefit from bringing more things from the Blade comics into the series. The TV format is more suited for a larger cast of characters. Even though Karen Jensen was created for the movies, I hope they bring her back. I would like to see what became of her vampire cure, if she has ties to the Nightstalkers, and I think Jensen would be a nice love interest for Blade.

Why the heck would you "hope" that the show is bad. That makes no sense, unless you're a Wesley Snipes fan and not a Blade fan.

The last thing I want to see is a black super hero TV show that sucks.

Blade needs to be a success on all levels. If it's better than the last two films that will be a good start.

None of the Blade films have lived up to the level of the recent Marvel flicks. The first one would have been great if they'd had a better antagonist.

2nd movie? Too much CG.

3rd movie? Wasn't focused on the Blade character enough. Jessica Biel ended up stealing his glory.

Maybe he had to mod it for different cases? Or maybe it's changed color as he's "upgraded" it to compensate for the fact that his body builds up a tolerance.
