Snakes on a Plane?! Wow... that is just so lame that I can't even put it in words.

Yet, I'd rather sit through that then the United 93 movie. I'm was in NY on 9/11...I have no desire to sit through a 9/11 movie just yet.

I think, being a big MST3K fan...Snakes is just going to be bad enough to be hilarious. I'll catch it on Netflix.

Really? And here I am, wanting to move to America. I thought the magazines would have covered every single newsagency over there.

I've been checking out the newsstand places in NY, they're usually great with the updated movie magazines like Total Film and Empire. They got nuthin'! At least nothing updated, anyway...they look like they're about a month behind on everything.

I'm going to keep hunting this weekend....I want the Total Film magazine! (the ones in the city are still MI:3)

You know, it's interesting re United 93. I work in midtown Manhattan, and had just gotten to my office when the first plane hit the WTC. That day was horrible. I agree re sitting through the movie right now - and I love watching these types of movies - BUT isn't it interesting that there was something on the Discovery Channel a few weeks ago, and THAT I watched, but I won't watch a movie in the theater. I don't know, maybe because I was alone in my home when I watched it. And I know some say it's too soon, but then again (and this is also a valid point), some say we should have stuff like this to remind us - sadly, I think some have forgotten. Can you believe this year it's five years?

I personally am only going to see X-3 and Superman - I hated the first Pirates and I won't see DaVinci.

Oh, I loved Pirates of the Caribbean! That one's definitely in my top 3 for this summer, which by the way, would be...

1. X-Men 3
2. Superman Returns (I know, I know...but I loved first 2 movies and I've been waiting forever for someone to make a new one)
3. Pirates of the Carribean (I need my Johnny Depp fix)
4. DaVinci Code (even though 'Angels & Demons' was the better Dan Brown book)
5. MI:3 (he's crazy, but his movies are still pretty good)

And I will never figure out why anyone had to remake "The Omen." It looks exactly like the original...and the original is still scary as hell.

I was in NYC and since I live in New Jersey and had to commute, everything ground to a halt. The only way out was on the ferry to Hoboken, and it took four hours to get on one, and I remember when we boarded, they kept asking "anyone from the World Trade Center please step aside." I guess they were taking names. And all you heard were the helicopters and jets overhead (someone said to me "don't worry, they're ours") and you didn't know if anything else was going to happen, and all I kept saying to myself was "please get me off this d*mn island." Naturally we were off from work the next day (Wednesday) since the city was virtually closed, but Thursday I went to work. It was so surreal - especially since I take the train and I also have to take the subway. I jumped at every noise, and no one could do any work. I had to take that Friday off I was still upset. Took a while to get back to "normal" and I still get upset thinking about it or seeing anything about it on TV or reading about it. May it never happen again.

I know...I'd have to live in a total fantasy world to think these movies aren't going to be made. But I just don't want to watch them.

It's 5 years later, you think you're mentally tougher now, and then that commercial comes on and I get all tense again. Nothing makes me freak out like that.

So I will be spending my movie time this summer with Wolverine, Superman, Captain Jack, and Samuel Jackson fighting snakes on a mother****in' plane.

Back on topic...I did get Entertainment Weekly in the mail today. It's a 'DaVinci Code' cover (still can't get used to Tom Hanks' Robert Langdon haircut)...and there's a little pic of Wolverine on the bottom.

Photo in the preview is a picture of Beast (which we've seen before), and EW seems to be quite excited about the movie.

There's also a Revlon insert (with Halle!) that opens up with an entire summer movie schedule. The forest photo of Wolverine is in there.

Ben Foster quote

Q: What's a better way to kick ass: as a raving tweaker or a winged mutant?
A: That's like asking: "Do you want to be Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader?" I love both roles. Anything with conflict puts blood in my dick.

Yeah, I commute too. We got on a train when they semi-reopened Penn Station that night. They ambulances waiting at the first stop for some of the wounded people they were transporting on our train. It was bizarre, we could see all of the highways were closed, and everything was just empty.

One really surreal image I remember from that day...I went to my dad's office after the 2nd tower collapsed. I was watching the news coverage in their conference room, but the TV was against the window--where I could clearly see everything burning downtown.

So I was watching it on TV, and the real thing at the same time. It was so bizzare.

See? I don't need a movie!!!!

Another Ben Foster Quote from Maxim:

Q: Are you a comic geek?
A: I thought Gambit was the man. When I heard X3 was being made, they said there are three roles coming up: Beast, Angel, and Gambit. I said, "Oh, ****, I want to throw cards." And for one reason or another, he didn't show up in this film. But once I started preparing to audition for Angel, I became obsessed. It's a man with wings.

Kelsey's whole Maxim interview:

The Beast Unleashed!

His second wife was a stripper. His half-brother was killed by a shark. He played TV’s most irritable intellectual. For Kelsey Grammer, the Beast in X-Men 3, there’s no such thing as normal.

Maxim, 5/1/2006

Where were you when you found out you got the role of the Beast in X-Men 3?
I was down at Disneyland doing this promotional thing for their 50th-anniversary celebration—it was the same time I fell off that stage. The bruise ran the length of my quadriceps, from the middle of my butt cheek down to the top of my knee. There was one on the inside of my other leg, too. I got beat up.

Yeah, that video is still a crowd-pleaser at work.
Well, Disneyland is very nice to me now. But I still have an indentation [points to hip] right here a year later. So it was a pretty severe wound. It was painful, so I didn’t have time to think about whether it was embarrassing or not. Besides, every great theater actor has a tale of falling off the stage.

So did you and Ian McKellen sit around and discuss iambic pentameter on the set of X3?
Actually, yes. Ian and I did talk a little bit about Shakespeare. Mostly about Richard II and Macbeth, and how Macbeth knows he’s out of line from the get-go and has a conscience, which makes him a little more tragic, whereas Richard II had to discover his humanity.

Our thoughts exactly! Describe your reaction when you first saw yourself transformed into a big blue fur ball.
It was horrible. The makeup didn’t look very good—it was way too light, and I was all pale and pasty—so we went darker, and he became very blue and big and powerful.

Who would win an IQ test, Sideshow Bob, whose voice you provide, or the Beast?
Surely, the Beast. Sideshow Bob’s pretty close, but he’s a very specific kind of smart—he’s Cole Porter smart, he’s musical-theater smart. He understands innuendo and irony and is long on opera but short on relationship skills. On the latest episode of The Simpsons, he was singing at the La Scala opera house, and I must say, I was moved.

True or false: You want to run for political office.
It’s a notion I have about the future—to run for office, to do the world some good. Well, the idea that we can do the world some good is a little nuts; the world tends to take care of itself. But as I get older, in maybe 15 years or so, there may be a run for office. But I don’t know what I’d run for.

Do you think your rather wild past will hurt your chances at getting elected?
Everyone knows about that. The opposition would hope it would harm me, but my frankness and openness about it would probably benefit me.

Is it really true you started drinking when you were nine?
Oh, gosh, I said that? I don’t think that’s accurate. I used to get a taste from the onions in my grandfather’s Gibson.

When Gary Busey hit bottom, he snorted coke off his dog. When did you hit bottom?
Well, you snort cocaine off a dog because you spilled it on him; you don’t do it intentionally. And since I know that, I’ll say it was probably around the same time. The old warnings that surface in our lives hold true if you give it enough time. The seven deadlies are pretty deadly, especially pride.

Is that the sin you struggle with the most?
It has certainly been one of mine, but I’ve tested all of them. See, it’s not that the Bible says you can’t do it; it’s that you shouldn’t. The wages of sin is death. And they’re not talking about physical death—they’re talking about spiritual death. And when you overindulge in those things, your spirit ends up destroyed.

Speaking of spiritual death, what do you think of the fact Kid Rock and Scott Stapp have a sex tape…together?
With each other? Was it a gay thing? [Ed note: No.] I’ve got to tell you, I love Creed and I think Kid Rock is very talented, but seeing either of them naked is not something I had in my plan.

You sued to stop a sex tape. Why do famous people even make them, anyway?
That’s the real question. Whether or not you’re a celebrity—even if you’re just an old slob with a video camera—you don’t realize you shouldn’t do it. So you throw the tape in the back of a dark closet until your old girlfriend remembers it’s there because you’re famous now and she’s not. But if you’re not prepared to do the time, don’t do the crime.

Give us some advice. How do you marry a gorgeous woman and not get jealous?
My second wife was a stripper, and I did get jealous. Every guy I’ve ever known gets jealous, at least in the first year of a relationship. Period. I don’t know many women who would like it if you weren’t. But after a year or two, you kind of relax.

Your father and sister were murdered, and your half-brother was killed in a shark attack. How did you manage to overcome so much tragedy?
Frankly, the tragedy wasn’t so much my tragedy as it was the tragedy that befell others I cared about. Surviving all these years has been a blessing, though. I can miss the people I loved without mourning them fresh every time.

How long did that take?
Twenty years. But things have been good the last couple of years. It’s as though I have a new childhood now.

So how old does that make you?
Six.

The article is accompanied by a picture of him with his beast chest under a suit, and his face is regular.

Grammer has been married three times. His first marriage to dance instructor Doreen Alderman spanned eight years, from 1982 to 1990, and produced one child, a daughter named Spencer. His second marriage, to stripper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stripper) Leigh-Anne Csuhany, lasted one year (1992–1993). Grammer claims she was abusive (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abusive) and that, after talk of divorce, she attempted suicide by overdosing on Tylenol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tylenol) and wine, which resulted in the miscarriage (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miscarriage) of their child. Since August of 1997, Grammer has been married to Camille Donatacci (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camille_Donatacci), a former nude model (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nude_model). They have a son and a daughter together via a surrogate mother (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrogate_mother). Grammer has one additional daughter, Greer, born in 1992, with hair and makeup stylist Barrie Buckner.
Born in St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, Grammer moved to New Jersey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey) with his mother after his parents' divorce. In 1968, when Kelsey was 13, his father, whom he had only met twice, was murdered (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder) on the front lawn of his home in the Virgin Islands (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virgin_Islands); in 1975, his sister was raped (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape) and murdered after leaving a Red Lobster (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Lobster) restaurant in Colorado Springs, Colorado (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado_Springs%2C_Colorado). Kelsey, who was 20 at the time and enrolled in the Juilliard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juilliard) acting program, stopped attending classes and was expelled (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expelled). In 1980, his twin half-brothers were killed in a shark (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shark) attack while SCUBA diving (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SCUBA_diving).
In 1998, Grammer filed a lawsuit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawsuit) against Internet Entertainment Group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Entertainment_Group), which Grammer claimed had stolen from his home a videotape (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celebrity_sex_tape) of him having sex with a woman. IEG countersued Grammer, denying they were in possession of such a tape, and Grammer's suit was eventually dropped.
Grammer began drinking at age 9 and became a frequent abuser of alcohol. In 1988 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1988) he was sentenced to 30 days in jail for drunk driving (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drunk_driving) and cocaine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocaine) possession. He was again arrested for cocaine possession in August (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August) 1990 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990) and sentenced to three years' probation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Probation), fined $500 and given 300 hours' community service (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Community_service). In January 1991 he was given an additional two years' probation for violating his original probation through additional cocaine use. In September (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September) 1996 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1996) he flipped his car while under the influence of drugs or alcohol and subsequently checked in to the Betty Ford Clinic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_Ford_Clinic) for 30 days.
In the mid-'90s Grammer was accused of statutory rape (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statutory_rape) by the parents of his child’s 15-year-old babysitter, but a New Jersey grand jury (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_jury) declined to indict due to lack of physical evidence.
In 2005, Grammer fell off a stage while presenting a speech at Disneyland (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disneyland).
After publishing his autobiography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autobiography), "So Far..." in 1995, he was sued by a former girlfriend for defamation of character (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defamation_of_character) and invasion of privacy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invasion_of_privacy).
Grammer says he constantly has supernatural (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernatural) experiences.

INDUSTRY BUZZ
- Hugh Hart
Sunday, April 23, 2006

San Francisco landmarks play a critical supporting role in "X-Men: The Last Stand," even though the filmmakers never actually spent any time shooting live footage in the Bay Area. Instead, one of the major action sequences in the new "X-Men" movie, in which super-villain Magneto lifts up the Golden Gate Bridge and sets it down on Alcatraz, was stitched together out of town, out of state and, in fact, out of the country. "We actually built a part of the bridge against a green screen up in Vancouver, where we filmed the cars sliding and moving as Magneto's troops move across the bridge," says producer Lauren Shuler Donner. "We put that against a matte of San Francisco. We also built the exterior of Alcatraz with the bridge collapsed in the front of it and shot that practically, as we say, in camera."

The collapse of the bridge was orchestrated by visual effects supervisor John Bruno, working with CGI artists in New Zealand and England. "The bridge moving, the cords popping, the bridge buckling and moving and shifting, all that is computer generated," Donner says. "John Bruno shot the (background) plates for the bridge and Alcatraz in San Francisco last year before we even started filming in Vancouver. We think it's all pretty exciting."

Donner also produced the two previous "X-Men" films, which have collectively grossed more than $700 million for Fox. What's it take to keep a franchise from fizzling? "In the X-Men world you have to conceive new looks and creatures, and just keep making sense out of the script and making sure you're visualizing it to its greatest degree, and putting enough heart in it to distinguish it from some of the other action movies, and enough action in it to make it word of mouth exciting. That's basically it."

Donner plans spin-off "origin stories" devoted to Magneto (played by Ian McKellen) and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. In between "X-Men" films, Jackman starred in the Peter Allen story on Broadway. Any thought to making "Wolverine: the Musical"? After all, the $27 million musical version of "The Lord of the Rings" recently opened in Toronto, so why not singing and dancing X-Men?

"Hugh keeps asking if he can do Wolverine the musical, but we haven't quite found the idea yet," Donner says. "I'm kidding!" she quickly adds. "I don't think the fans would let us."

Roughly this is what she says - The X-Men have contributed greatly to her career, she's good friends with Hugh and Deb Jackman, adores Oscar Jackman (who has a crush on her), Oscar Jackman likes her with her Storm hair better, she has a Storm action figure in her kitchen and yes it looks like she'll be at the Cannes film festival. If she could have superpower she would fly. She likes the comic book genre and thinks that it has many strong female roles.

Toons battle World Cup for summer supremacy
Studios kick up slew of family fare

By Hy Hollinger

Are family films the answer to a declining overseas boxoffice?

Veteran studio distribution executives say a lot depends on how international moviegoers react in the summer to the first batch of one of the largest crops of animated family films to be released during a single year.

20th Century Fox's "Ice Age: The Meltdown," and the Walt Disney Co.'s "The Wild" started the ball rolling this month, and five more CGI films -- DreamWorks' "Over the Hedge," Pixar-Disney's "Cars," Sony Pictures Animation/Amblin Entertainment's "Monster House," Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Ant Bully" and Fox's "Garfield's A Tale of Two Kitties"-- will reach offshore multiplexes during the feverish May-September span, competing with megabudget blockbuster hopefuls also seeking a piece of the estimated 40% of the peak-summer foreign boxoffice.

"One of the biggest challenges this summer will be to distinguish yourself among the many family films," said Veronika Kwan-Rubinek, president of Warner Bros. Pictures International Distribution.

The summer's soccer World Cup, the movie industry's quadrennial scheduling nemesis, provoked intricate jockeying for suitable playing time for key product, resulting in a May grouping of tentpole entries. With the tournament taking place June 9-July 9 in Germany, the major studios are making sure that selected event films do not compete with primetime televised soccer games, especially in Europe. Global time differences had studio schedulers working overtime to come up with tailor-made, noncompeting placements during and after the soccer contests.

"Cars" is staying away from the World Cup, presuming that the stock-car racing elements of the film would have wide appeal beyond the kiddie trade. Except for a June 14 date in France, "Cars" will drive worldwide starting in July and ending with a September rollout in Germany. Buena Vista International, Disney's overseas distribution arm, has picked June 14 in France to meet the country's six-month law relating to the DVD release because "we wanted to have the DVD ready for Christmas," said Anthony Marcoly, BVI's executive vp distribution and acquisition.

"Over the Hedge," based on the popular comic strip, will open in Southeast Asia day-and-date with North America on May 19 but "mostly will follow a holiday release pattern," said Andrew Cripps, president of UIP, the overseas distribution arm of Paramount, Universal and DreamWorks. The story of a raccoon and a turtle's battle against encroaching suburbia is set to open June 16 in Spain, June 22 in Australia, June 30 in the U.K., July 5 in France, and July 6 in Germany.

"People don't stop going to the movies (during the World Cup) if you have the right product," Cripps said. "It's only a big deal when your country is playing. There'll be enough big properties around -- action pictures, family pictures, teen pictures and comedies -- that will cater to all audiences."

The partly computer-animated "Garfield's A Tale of Two Kitties," a sequel to the $124 million-scoring "Garfield," bows day-and-date June 23 in Brazil and will make the global rounds from July to September, mainly at school holiday periods.

The animated "Monster House," a Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis project, will hit the overseas market via Sony, starting in the U.K., France and Mexico in August and continuing through September and October.

Warners will drive John A. Davis' "The Ant Bully" in the international market starting in early August and will keep an eye on holiday dates through September.

Come fall, another array of CGI family cartoons will reach the overseas market: "Barnyard" (UIP/Paramount), "Open Season" (Sony), "Flushed Away" (UIP/DreamWorks) and "Happy Feet" (Warners). Currently making the rounds is the Weinstein Co.'s "Hoodwinked."

During the May scramble, high-profile event films will hit the market week after week just before the World Cup. The period during the tournament will be accompanied by careful counterprogramming, and the studios will finish the summer surge from mid-July to September with another jam-packed supply of costly would-be blockbusters.

"It's going to be a battle royal as usual," said David Kornblum, vp sales and distribution at BVI. "It won't be summer without this competition."

The tentpole barrage kicks off May 5 with the worldwide day-and-date opening (except Japan and India) of UIP/Paramount's Tom Cruise starrer "Mission: Impossible 3."

Sony unleashes its big gun, the controversial and much-awaited "The Da Vinci Code," on May 19. Mark Zucker, Sony Pictures Releasing International's senior executive vp, said the company is seeking to capture the whole world on a single weekend with more than 10,000 screens in about 100 territories. The release of the Ron Howard-directed religious mystery follows its May 17 screening Out of Competition at the Festival de Cannes.

Fox's "X-Men: The Last Stand" represents the last global saturation booking of the month, with the Brett Ratner-directed comic book adaptation day-dating everywhere (except Japan) on May 26.

Warners' "Poseidon" has been dated "as the last major release to open over a long weekend before the World Cup," Kwan-Rubinek said, noting that it will go out in May mostly in Asia and a few territories in Europe. The remake of 1972's "The Poseidon Adventure" has been set for June only in Italy and the U.K, hitting Germany in July after the World Cup.

"We have done this because we found that during Euro 2004 (the European soccer championship) those films dated last before the event showed on average a better playability," Kwan-Rubinek said. "In France, we are going on June 14 to play into La Fete du Cinema (France's annual moviegoing promotion), which we expect will offset any potential impact from the soccer games."

Fox's remake of the 1976 horror classic "The Omen" also got under the wire before the June 9 soccer start. Paul Hanneman, co-president of 20th Century Fox International, said the John Moore-directed thriller would open day-and-date in every country worldwide (except Japan) on June 6, a Tuesday. That's usually an off day for a major film launch, but its marketers also are seizing on the 6-6-06 date.

BVI's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," the second in Disney's franchise, will raise its flag as the World Cup comes to a close, setting sail day-and-date with North America on July 7 for a cruise that will take it around the world in three weeks.

From late June to September, another barrage of biggies will reach the overseas market, including Warners' "Superman Returns," UIP/Universal's "Miami Vice" and "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift."

Other titles in play either as World Cup counterprogramming or as wide-appeal offerings are Warners' "The Lake House" and M. Night Shyamalan's thriller "Lady in the Water."

Sony will roll out the youth-oriented "Benchwarmers," the horror-thriller "Silent Hill," the Robin Williams family comedy "RV," the Will Ferrell action comedy "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," Adam Sandler's "Click" and the Tim Allen comedy-fantasy "Zoom."

A number of other Fox entries will make appearances here and there on the summer calendar, including the crime drama "The Sentinel," the comedy "My Super Ex-Girlfriend," the comedy-romance "Just My Luck," the comedy-fantasy "Aquamarine" and the comedy-drama "Thank You for Smoking."

UIP's slate includes Paramount's Jack Black comedy "Nacho Libre" and Universal's Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy "The Break-Up."

It's an online mag mkay.

TIME Magazine - May 1, 2006

http://i.timeinc.net/time/daily/2006/0604/XML_amsummer/images/05.jpg
X-MEN: THE LAST STAND

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Kelsey Grammer. Release date: May 26. What the first two made: $372 million

THE CHALLENGE The X-Men have a problem. Not the threat of Magneto or the fact that a pharmaceutical company has come up with a "cure" for mutancy (jeez, can't we all just get along?). The issue is the loss of Singer (to Superman), who directed the first two movies, and his replacement by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour, Red Dragon), who hasn't yet shown Singer's talent for the shadowy action sequences that are the franchise's specialty. Oh, and Frasier Crane is the Beast?

WHAT'S NEW In addition to a bigger part for the under-utilized weather witch Storm (Halle Berry), X3 also has new or much-expanded roles for several mutants beloved from the comic book. White-winged Archangel appears, as does Kitty Pryde, the girl who walks through walls and who served as the imaginary girlfriend for a generation of fanboys. Watch them closely: This is the last X-Men movie, and Fox is looking for mutants who can be spun off as stand-alone franchises.

THE BUZZ Actually, not bad. A strong trailer suggests that despite what Ratner says—"It's not just a bunch of superheroes saving the world and kicking ass. It deals with a lot of issues, prejudice and alienation and all that stuff"—he has grasped one of the basic truths of the series: the more mutants, the mo'better. —L.G.

Page can next be seen in X-Men 3, coming out next month. Based on her description of the film, you may not be getting a superhero masterpiece. “The film is … different,” she says, a bit hesitantly. “It’s not really my thing, and I cannot wait to go back to smaller, more challenging movies. And I’m sure there are going to be all these guys on the Internet saying ‘oh, how dare she play Kitty Pryde; she’s terrible and ugly and doesn’t fit the role.’ But then I’ll just realize they’re just some guys hiding on the Internet. And I can deal with that.”

I could tell from a few interviews she's already done that she didn't like working on the film. I'd think she'd appreciate the variety. It's the spuce of life Ellen.

I commend Ellen Page. I think she is completely entitled to her opinion. She didnt say the film was bad, but for someone who is more familiar with the cozy, more intimate film-making of indie films, it makes sense for her to say so. i have heard many stars say how daunting a big-budget film can be and its not for eevryone. I saw "Hard Candy" just two weekends ago, and let me tell you, Page is a fine actress with a long career ahead of her. Her performance was flawless and intense. I am still looking forward to her.

Also, as a side note, I dont know why anyone would get offended about her saying that comment about people online saying things about her. It's true. Yes, people are excited for her now, but I've only read the most terrible things about her appearance. How unnatractive she is or how her forehead rises. She's a very beautiful girl. I remember Anna always getting flack to when she was cast. Just because she isnt a porn star, doesnt mean that her beauty is any less. Not every woman in these films should exude sexual energy. In real life, there are modest beauties. There are people who dont have shiny lips or beautifully built bodies. That doesnt take away anything. What i care about is wether or not she does a great performance.

Ellen has said many times she likes to do smaller films but it was Brett who saw her work in Hard Candy and asked her. She turned it down at first but Ratner kept asking, insisting she played Kitty.

I think she is saying that to those who critisize her. She has been given lots of praise for her roles yet she keeps seeing people have a go at her for having a big forehead or stupid things like that. I think she is just doing what all actors do and block it out. Ellen just says it like it is because she has said before she doesnt want to do the whole 'Hollywood' thing. Talking bull in every interview.

And at the end of the day, those people to her are just pixels on a computer screen on the internt.

I have seen other interviews with her saying how she enjoyed it because it was different and they were about to do a crazy stunt involving jumping about 50ft and she turned and Halle Berry smiled at her. She didnt dislike filming as much as people say she did. Alan Cumming said he hated X-Men 2 because of the make-up process. That doesnt mean he hates the whole film...just the make-up.

Entertainment Weekly hasn't done anything on X3 yet (this one has DaVinci Code on the cover and they already did a cover with Superman) so I'm convinced X3 will get it's own cover closer to air date. Here's the latest with a little picture of Hugh as Wolverine.

Apparently so.

Ratner Reveals X3 Moments

Brett Ratner, director of the upcoming SF sequel X-Men: The Last Stand, told SCI FI Wire that the third installment in the hit comic franchise is loaded with both huge set pieces and quieter, more reflective character moments. "The megamovie moment is in the trailer, and that's ripping the [Golden Gate] Bridge out of the ground and moving it," Ratner said in an interview. "That's a mega-mega-mega-movie moment. Even I'm blown away when I see it. The pieces that it took, that we shot, to get that to work—from the plates to the sky shots to the making of the bridge in miniature to CG enhancements to real elements of people running—it was insane. There must be 20 different elements to make one shot of the bridge look real. So as far as technology is concerned that's a major mega-moment in cinema. I'm telling you, my mouth drops when I see the final shots."

As for a quieter moment? Ratner pointed to a spoiler scene between Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) and a pre-Dark Phoenix Jean Grey (Famke Janssen). "Wolverine is looking at Jean after she's come back," Ratner said. "They're in the infirmary, and he's looking down at her. It's a great moment, because you see that he loves her. He's staring at her with love, because he doesn't know if she's going to live or die, and all of a sudden she grabs his hand. That's reminiscent of [a similar scene in] the first movie, when he grabbed her after he'd been unconscious, when she was looking at him, in a different way, of course. But that, I thought, was a beautiful moment." X-Men: The Last Stand opens on May 26.

USA TODAY's Scott Bowles, Anthony Breznican, Claudia Puig, Mike Snider and Susan Wloszczyna examines 13 potential heroes and their potential to fly or flop.

Hugh Jackman in 'X-Men: The Last Stand,' May 26
The plot: The X-men are offered a "cure" for their mutations.

Why he may soar: History. The X-Men series is one of the most successful comic book franchises in history, having raked in more than $370 million with two films. And Jackman promises this will be the last. "It's a little melancholy, saying goodbye, but it's right for the story."

Why he may crash: History. Comic book fans were more than a little peeved when Brett Ratner (the Rush Hour films) took the reins from Bryan Singer, who directed the first two films. "They don't really like change," Ratner says of the comic book and Internet communities. "But I think we'll be able to settle their concerns pretty quickly."

"This could be the biggest movie of the summer," Pandya says. "The first two movies have lived up to expectations, and a change of directors may make the last one fresh."

Freaks and Cliques: PREMIERE's May 2006 issue, on sale now, goes behind-the-scenes of X-Men: The Last Stand, the franchise's third, and potentially biggest, installment yet. Here, PREMIERE.com presents an exclusive excerpt from this month's cover story.

By Tom Russo

The rise of Dark Phoenix and the development of a "cure" for mutancy have left the X-Men and the brotherhood more polarized than ever. It's up to director Brett Ratner, taking over from Bryan Singer, to turn their Last Stand into the franchise's most rousing installment yet.
When a filmmaker compares his big summer movie to “a freight train,” you might guess that he sees himself as an engineer skillfully guiding a barreling behemoth toward its final destination in multiplexes.
In the case of X-Men: The Last Stand, however, Brett Ratner at first felt more like the guy running alongside, just trying to jump aboard. “The train was already moving,” says the director, who was brought onto the project a mere eight weeks before the start of production. “And if it wasn't me [directing], it was going to be somebody else.”
Just a couple of years ago, Fox, Marvel, and the makers of the X-movies would have told you there was nobody else for X-Men but Bryan Singer. But after directing the series' first two installments, which grossed more than $370 million, Singer abruptly defected in July 2004 for rival superhero event project Superman Returns. It had seemed to be full steam ahead for the franchise after an X2 coda that clearly implied X3 would tackle the comics' classic “Dark Phoenix Saga,” in which a resurrected Jean Grey (played by Famke Janssen) sees her awesome psychic powers spiral tragically out of control. Among comics fans, the tale is as revered as the origin stories of Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man. With Singer's exit, studio anticipation had suddenly turned to anxiety.
“I found out from [Fox chairman] Tom Rothman, who was in New York to see me doing The Boy From Oz on Broadway,” recalls Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine. “He came backstage afterward, and his face looked ashen. I said, 'What's the matter?' 'I just found out [at intermission] that Bryan's not doing X-Men 3.' ” Laughing, Jackman adds, “I thought he just really didn't enjoy the show.” Still, X-Men's producers had an idea for duplicating the franchise's formula with surprising precision. They brought in Matthew Vaughn, whose hepcat gangster-flick credits-directing Layer Cake, producing Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch-read like Singer's unlikely pre- X-Men résumé, when The Usual Suspects was his calling card.
